| 1 | KIF18B promotes tumor progression in osteosarcoma by activating β-catenin显示文摘Objective:Osteosarcoma is a common primary highly malignant bone tumor.Kinesin family member 18B(K1F18B)has been identified as a potential oncogene involved in the development and metastasis of several cancer types.While KIF18B overexpression in osteosarcoma tissue is clearly detected,its specific function in the disease process remains to be established.Methods:K IF18B expression was assessed in osteosarcoma tissues and cells.We additionally evaluated the effects of KIF18B on proliferation,migration,and invasion of osteosarcoma cells,both in vitro and in vivo.Results:Our results showed overexpression of KIF18B in osteosarcoma tissues and cells.Knockdown of K IF18B induced G1/S phase arrest and significantly inhibited proliferation,migration,and invasion of osteosarcoma cells,both in vitro and in vivo.K IF18B regulated P-catenin expression at the transcriptional level by controlling nuclear aggregation of ATF2 and at the post-transcriptional level by interacting with the adenomatous polyposis coli(APC)tumor suppressor gene in osteosarcoma cells.Conclusions:KIF18B plays a carcinogenic role in osteosarcoma by regulating expression ofβ-catenin transcriptionally via decreasing nuclear aggregation of ATF2 or post-transcriptionally through interactions with APC.Our collective findings support the potential utility of KIF18B as a novel prognostic biomarker for osteosarcoma. | Tian Gao Ling Yu Zhiwei Fang Jiayong Liu Chujie Bai Shu Li Ruifeng Xue Lu Zhang Zhichao Tan Zhengfu Fan | 2020 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2020,17,2: | 7 |
| 2 | Phylogenetic diversity stabilizes community biomass显示文摘Aims The relationship between biodiversity and ecological stability is a long-standing issue in ecology.Current diversity–stability studies,which have largely focused on species diversity,often report an increase in the stability of aggregate community properties with increasing species diversity.Few studies have examined the linkage between phylogenetic diversity,another important dimension of biodiversity,and stability.By taking species evolutionary history into account,phylogenetic diversity may better capture the diversity of traits and niches of species in a community than species diversity and better relate to temporal stability.In this study,we investigated whether phylogenetic diversity could affect temporal stability of community biomass independent of species diversity.Methods We performed an experiment in laboratory microcosms with a pool of 12 bacterivorous ciliated protist species.To eliminate the possibility of species diversity effects confounding with phylogenetic diversity effects,we assembled communities that had the same number of species but varied in the level of phylogenetic diversity.Weekly disturbance,in the form of short-term temperature shock,was imposed on each microcosm and species abundances were monitored over time.We examined the relationship between temporal stability of community biomass and phylogenetic diversity and evaluated the role of several stabilizing mechanisms for explaining the influence of phylogenetic diversity on temporal stability.Important Findings Our results showed that increasing phylogenetic diversity promoted temporal stability of community biomass.Both total community biomass and summed variances showed a U-shaped relationship with phylogenetic diversity,driven by the presence of large,competitively superior species that attained large biomass and high temporal variation in their biomass in both low and high phylogenetic diversity communities.Communities without these species showed patterns consistent with the reduced strength of competition and increasingly asynchronous species responses to environmental changes under higher phylogenetic diversity,two mechanisms that can drive positive diversity–stability relationships.These results support the utility of species phylogenetic knowledge for predicting ecosystem functions and their stability. | Zhichao Pu Poonim Daya Jiaqi Tan Lin Jiang | 2014 | Journal of Plant Ecology2014,7,2: | 4 |
| 3 | Efficient one-pot hydrogenolysis of biomass-derived xylitol into ethylene glycol and 1,2-propylene glycol over Cu–Ni–ZrO_2 catalyst without solid bases显示文摘The directly selective hydrogenolysis of xylitol to ethylene glycol(EG) and 1,2-propylene glycol(1,2-PDO)was performed on Cu–Ni–ZrO_2 catalysts prepared by a co-precipitation method. Upon optimizing the reaction conditions(518 K, 4.0 MPaH_2 and 3 h), 97.0% conversion of xylitol and 63.1% yield of glycols were obtained in water without extra inorganic base. The catalyst still remained stable activity after six cycles and above 80% total selectivity of glycols was obtained when using 20.0% xylitol concentration. XRD, TEM and ICP results indicated that Cu–Ni–ZrO_2 catalysts possess favorable stability. Cu and Ni are beneficial to the cleavage of C–O and C–H bond, respectively. To reduce the hydrogen consumption, isopropanol was added as in-situ hydrogen source and 96.4% conversion of xylitol with 43.6% yield of glycols were realized. | Shenglin Li Yifan Zan Yuanyuan Sun Zhichao Tan Gai Miao L. | 8 | Modelling smear effect of vertical drains using a diameter reduction method显示文摘Vertical drains are used to accelerate consolidation of clays in ground improvement projects.Smear zones exist around these drains,where permeability is reduced due to soil disturbance caused by the installation process.Hansbo solution is widely used in practice to consider the effects of drain discharge capacity and smear on the consolidation process.In this study,a computationally efficient diameter reduction method(DRM)obtained from the Hansbo solution is proposed to consider the smear effect without the need to model the smear zone physically.Validated by analytical and numerical results,a diameter reduction factor is analytically derived to reduce the diameter of the drain,while achieving similar solutions of pore pressure dissipation profile as the classical full model of the smear zone and drain.With the DRM,the excess pore pressure u obtained from the reduced drain in the original un-disturbed soil zone is accurate enough for practical applications in numerical models.Such performance of DRM is independent of soil material property.Results also show equally accurate performance of DRM under conditions of multi-layered soils and coupled radial-vertical groundwater flow. | Zhichao Shen Siau Chen Chian Siew Ann Tan Chun Fai Leung | 2024 | Journal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering2024,16,1: | 0 |
| 9 | Potential damage threats to downstream optics caused by Gaussian mitigation pits on rear KDP surface显示文摘To determine whether a potassium dihydrogen phosphate(KDP)surface mitigated by micro-milling would potentially threaten downstream optics,we calculated the light-field modulation based on angular spectrum diffraction theory,and performed a laser damage test on downstream fused silica.The results showed that the downstream light intensification caused by a Gaussian mitigation pit of 800μm width and 10μm depth reached a peak value near the KDP rear surface,decreased sharply afterward,and eventually kept stable with the increase in downstream distance.The solved peak value of light intensification exceeded 6 in a range 8–19 mm downstream from the KDP rear surface,which is the most dangerous for downstream optics.Laser damage sites were then induced on the fused silica surface in subsequent laser damage tests.When the distance downstream was greater than 44 mm with a downstream light intensification of less than 3,there were no potential damage threats to downstream optics.The study proves that a mitigated KDP surface can cause laser damage to downstream optical components,to which attention should be paid in an actual application.Through this work,we find that the current manufacturing process and the mitigation index still need to be improved.The research methods and calculation models are also of great reference significance for related studies like optics mitigation and laser damage. | Hao Yang Jian Cheng Zhichao Liu Qi Liu Linjie Zhao Chao Tan Jian Wang Mingjun Chen | 2020 | High Power Laser Science and Engineering2020,8,4: | 0 |
