| 1 | Hydrogeochemical and Isotopic Evidence for Flow Paths of Karst Waters Collected in the Heshang Cave,Central China显示文摘Understanding of hydrological processes in caves is important to help us interpret paleoclimate records from speleothems. In this study,we integrated hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical properties to characterize the hydraulic behavior of karst waters in the Heshang Cave,Central China. Using geological and topographical analyses,we identified regional watershed boundaries and hydrogeological connections that were controlled by anticlinal geometry and faults. Water samples were collected from the Heshang Cave and potential recharge sites. Geochemical data of c(Sr2+)/c(Ca2+) and c(Mg2+)/c(Ca2+) ratios suggest that the drainage system in Heshang Cave consists of two flow paths. For vadose waters,including drip water and rimstone pool water,c(Sr2+)/c(Ca2+) ratio ranges from 0.000 6 to 0.001 1,and c(Mg2+)/c(Ca2+) ratio ranges from 0.97 to 1.1,indicating that recharge was mainly from rainfall infiltration through the overlying Cambrian dolomite stratum. In contrast,slope current and underground river waters have higher c(Sr2+)/c(Ca2+) ratios(values from 0.002 2 to 0.002 8),and lower c(Mg2+)/c(Ca2+) ratios(values from 0.50 to 0.64). | 2 | The Coix Genome Provides Insights into Panicoideae Evolution and Papery Hull Domestication显示文摘Coix is a grass crop domesticated as early as the Neolithic era.It is still widely cultivated for both highly nutritional food and medicinal use.However,the genetic study and breeding of this crop are hindered by the lack of a sequenced genome.Here,we report de novo sequencing and assembly of the 1619-Mb genome of Coix,and annotation of 75.39%repeats and 39629 protein-coding genes.Comparative genomics analysis showed that Coix is more closely related to sorghum than maize,but intriguingly only Coix and maize had a recent genome duplication event,which was not detected in sorghum.We further constructed a genetic map and mapped several important traits,especially the strength of hull.Selection of papery hull(thin:easy dehulling)from the stony hull(thick:difficult dehulling)in wild progenitors was a key step in Coix domestication.The papery hull makes seed easier to process and germinate.Anatomic and global transcriptome analysis revealed that the papery hull is a result of inhibition of cell division and wall biogenesis.We also successfully demonstrated that seed hull pressure resistance is controlled by two major quantitative trait loci(QTLs),which are associated with hull thickness and color,respectively.The two QTLs were further fine mapped within intervals of 250 kb and 146 kb,respectively.These resources provide a platform for evolutionary studies and will facilitate molecular breeding of this important crop. | Chao Guo Yanan Wang Aiguo Yang Jun He Chaowen Xiao Shanhua Lv Fengming Han Yibing Yuan Yuan Yuan Xiaolong Dong Juan Guo YawenYang-Hailan Liu Ningzhi Zuo Yaxi Hu Kangxu Zhao Zhengbo Jiang Xing Wang Tingting Jiang Yaou Sherf Moju Cao Yuan Wang Zhaobo Long Tingzhao Rong Luqi Huang Shufeng Zhou | 2020 | Molecular Plant2020,13,2: | 11 |

| 4 | Carbon dioxide adsorption of two-dimensional carbide MXenes显示文摘Two-dimensional carbide MXenes(Ti_3C_2T_x and V_2CT_x)were prepared by exfoliating MAX phases(Ti_3AlC_2 and V_2AlC)powders in the solution of sodium fluoride(NaF)and hydrochloric acid(HCl).The specific surface area(SSA)of as-prepared Ti_3C_2T_x was 21 m^2/g,and that of V_2CT_x was 9 m^2/g.After intercalation with dimethylsulfoxide,the SSA of Ti_3C_2T_x was increased to 66 m^2/g;that of V_2CT_x was increased to 19 m^2/g.Their adsorption properties on carbon dioxide(CO_2)were investigated under 0–4 MPa at room temperature(298 K).Intercalated Ti_3C_2T_x had the adsorption capacity of 5.79 mmol/g,which is close to the capacity of many common sorbents.The theoretical capacity of Ti_3C_2T_x with the SSA of 496 m^2/g was up to 44.2 mmol/g.Additionally,due to high pack density,MXenes had very high volume-uptake capacity.The capacity of intercalated Ti_3C_2T_(x )measured in this paper was 502 V·v^(–1).This value is already higher than volume capacity of most known sorbents.These results suggest that MXenes have some advantage features to be researched as novel CO_2 capture materials. | Bingxin WANG Aiguo ZHOU Fanfan LIU Jianliang CAO Libo WANG Qianku HU | 2018 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2018,7,3: | 9 |
| 5 | Experimental study of a controlled variable double-baffle distortion generator engine test rig显示文摘In order to explore the total-pressure distortion test assessment method for a turbofan engine, a Controlled Variable Double-Baffle Distortion Generator(CVDBDG) with a horizontal symmetry moving form was developed, which can adjust the steady-state and time–variant distortion separately in real time. The inlet total-pressure distortion test was conducted on an afterburner turbofan engine. The distortion parameters of CVDBDG and the instability characteristics of the engine were measured. The experimental data were modeled and analyzed by using back propagation artificial neural networks, and the work envelope of CVDBDG was obtained. Based on the analysis of the data on the engine's instability, the properties of CVDBDG used for the stability assessment were preliminarily evaluated. The results show that CVDBDG can simulate both steady-state and time–variant distortions simultaneously in a range determined by three envelopes.Under the condition of symmetric double baffles, a critical depth of insertion exists, beyond which the symmetric baffles will generate an asymmetric flow field. In the case of double baffles, compared to a single baffle, the engine exhibited different instability characteristics. | 8 | Research progress on construction and energy storage performance of MXene heterostructures显示文摘MXenes are a family of two-dimensional (2D) transition metal carbides, carbonitrides/nitrides with superior physical and chemical properties, which have attracted extensive attention since the discovery in 2011. The impressive electrochemical activity of MXene makes it one of the most potential electrode materials in rechargeable batteries and supercapacitors. However, single-component MXene electrodes are difficult to achieve high specific capacity, efficient ion/electron transport, and high stability compatibility in an electrochemical environment. Studies have shown that it is an effective method to introduce nanomaterials between MXene layers to construct heterostructures and to improve the electrochemical performance through the synergistic effect among the components in the heterostructures. The introduction of nanomaterials can effectively suppress the restacking of MXene nanosheets, shorten the diffusion path of ions and promote the electrolyte transport, which is beneficial to enhance the rate performance of MXene;moreover, the excellent mechanical flexibility of MXene can reduce the volume expansion of nanomaterials during charge/discharge, thereby effectively protecting the integrity of the electrode structure and improving the cycling stability. Therefore, in this review, combined with theoretical calculations, we summarize the recent advances of MXene heterostructures in terms of synthesis strategies and energy storage applications, including supercapacitors, metal-ions batteries (Li, Na, K, Mg, Zn, Al) and metal anode protection. | 9 | Time correction of the ocean bottom seismometers deployed at the southwest Indian ridge using ambient noise cross-correlation显示文摘Seismic monitoring using ocean bottom seismometers(OBS) is an efficient method for investigating earthquakes in mid-ocean ridge far away from land. Clock synchronization among the OBSs is difficult without direct communication because electromagnetic signals cannot propagate efficiently in water. Time correction can be estimated through global positioning system(GPS) synchronization if clock drift is linear before and after the deployment. However, some OBSs in the experiments at the southwest Indian ridge(SWIR) on the Chinese DY125-34 cruise had not been re-synchronized from GPS after recovery. So we attempted to estimate clock drift between each station pairs using time symmetry analysis(TSA) based on ambient noise cross-correlation. We tested the feasibility of the TSA method by analyzing daily noise cross-correlation functions(NCFs) that extract from the data of another OBS experiment on the Chinese DY125-40 cruise with known clock drift and the same deployment site. The results suggest that the NCFs' travel time of surface wave between any two stations are symmetrical and have an opposite growing direction with the date. The influence of different band-pass filters,different components and different normalized methods was discussed. The TSA method appeared to be optimal for the hydrophone data within the period band of 2–5 s in dozens of km-scale interstation distances. A significant clock drift of ~2 s was estimated between OBSs sets through linear regression during a 108-d deployment on the Chinese cruise DY125-34. | 12 | Five-year follow-up of 23 asymmetrical Parkinson's disease patients treated with unilateral subthalamic nucleus stimulation显示文摘In this study, 23 asymmetrical Parkinson's disease patients were treated with unilateral deep brain stimulation of the subthalamic nucleus and followed up for 5 years. At 5 years after stimulation treatment, Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale II, III and axial symptom scores in the off-drug condition were significantly increased compared those at baseline. However, total Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale II, III and axial symptom scores were significantly lower with stimulation-on compared with the synchronous stimulation-off state in off-drug condition, and the motor symptoms of contralateral side limbs were effectively controlled. Only low Hoehn-Yahr stage was correlated with good long-term postoperative improvement in motor symptoms. The mean levodopa-equivalent daily dose after stimulation treatment was significantly lower than that before treatment, but dyskinesias became worse. | 13 | Observation of a bi-critical point between antiferromagnetic and superconducting phases in pressurized single crystal Ca0.73La0.27FeAs2显示文摘One of the most strikingly universal features of the high-temperature superconductors is that the superconducting phase emerges in the close proximity of the antiferromagnetic phase, and the interplay between these two phases poses a long-standing challenge. It is commonly believed that, as the antiferromagnetic transition temperature is continuously suppressed to zero, there appears a quantum critical point, around which the existence of antiferromagnetic fluctuation is responsible for the development of the superconductivity. In contrast to this scenario, we report the observation of a bi-critical point identified at 2.88 GPa and 26.02 K in the pressurized high-quality single crystal Ca_(0.73)La_(0.27)FeAs_2 by complementary in-situ high pressure measurements. | 14 | Density-functional-theory predictions of mechanical behaviour and thermal properties as well as experimental hardness of the Ga-bilayer Mo_(2)Ga_(2)C显示文摘Mo_(2)Ga_(2)C is a new MAX phase with a stacking Ga-bilayer as well as possible unusual properties.To understand this unique MAX phase structure and promote possible future applications,the structure,chemical bonding,and mechanical and thermodynamic properties of Mo_(2)Ga_(2)C were investigated by first-principles.Using the“bond stiffness”model,the strongest covalent bonding(1162 GPa)was formed between Mo and C atoms in Mo_(2)Ga_(2)C,while the weakest Ga–Ga(389 GPa)bonding was formed between two Ga-atomic layers,different from other typical MAX phases.The ratio of the bond stiffness of the weakest bond to the strongest bond(0.33)was lower than 1/2,indicating the high damage tolerance and fracture toughness of Mo_(2)Ga_(2)C,which was confirmed by indentation without any cracks.The high-temperature heat capacity and thermal expansion of Mo_(2)Ga_(2)C were calculated in the framework of quasi-harmonic approximation from 0 to 1300 K.Because of the metal-like electronic structure,the electronic excitation contribution became more significant with increasing temperature above 300 K. | Xinxin QI Weilong YIN Sen JIN Aiguo ZHOU Xiaodong HE Guangping SONG Yongting ZHENG Yuelei BAI | 2022 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,2: | 2 |
| 15 | De novo Assembly of Pen Shell(Atrina pectinata) Transcriptome and Screening of Its Genic Microsatellites显示文摘The pen shell(Atrina pectinata) is a large wedge-shaped bivalve, which belongs to family Pinnidae. Due to its large and nutritious adductor muscle, it is the popular seafood with high commercial value in Asia-Pacific countries. However, limiting genomic and transcriptomic data have hampered its genetic investigations. In this study, the transcriptome of A. pectinata was deeply sequenced using Illumina pair-end sequencing technology. After assembling, a total of 127263 unigenes were obtained. Functional annotation indicated that the highest percentage of unigenes(18.60%) was annotated on GO database, followed by 18.44% on PFAM database and 17.04% on NR database. There were 270 biological pathways matched with those in KEGG database. Furthermore, a total of 23452 potential simple sequence repeats(SSRs) were identified, of them the most abundant type was mono-nucleotide repeats(12902, 55.01%), which was followed by di-nucleotide(8132, 34.68%), tri-nucleotide(2010, 8.57%), tetra-nucleotide(401, 1.71%), and penta-nucleotide(7, 0.03%) repeats. Sixty SSRs were selected for validating and developing genic SSR markers, of them 23 showed polymorphism in a cultured population with the average observed and expected heterozygosities of 0.412 and 0.579, respectively. In this study, we established the first comprehensive transcript dataset of A. pectinata genes. | 16 | Constitutive Relationship and Hot Processing Maps of Mg-Gd-Y-Nb-Zr Alloy显示文摘The hot working behavior of Mg-Gd-Y-Nb-Zr alloy was investigated using constitutive model and hot processing maps in this work. Isothermal compression tests were conducted with temperature and strain rate range of 703–773 K and 0.01–5 s^(-1), respectively. Improved Arrhenius-type equation incorporated with strain compensations was used to predict flow behavior of the alloy, and the predictability was evaluated using correlation coefficient, root mean square error and absolute relative error. Processing maps were constructed at different strains for Mg-Gd-Y-Nb-Zr alloy based on dynamic materials model.The processing maps are divided into three domains and the corresponding microstructure evolutions are referred to the forming of straight grain boundaries, twinning, dynamic recrystallization and grain growth. Instability occurred mainly at the strain rate range of 0.3s^(-1)–0.5s^(-1). | 17 | Synthesis and electrochemical properties of V_(2)C MXene by etching in opened/closed environments显示文摘The effect of etching environment(opened or closed)on the synthesis and electrochemical properties of V_(2)C MXene was studied.V_(2)C MXene samples were synthesized by selectively etching of V2AlC at 90℃in two different environments:opened environment(OE)in oil bath pans under atmosphere pressure and closed environment(CE)in hydrothermal reaction kettles under higher pressures.In OE,only NaF(sodium fluoride)+HCl(hydrochloric acid)etching solution can be used to synthesize highly pure V_(2)C MXene.However,in CE,both LiF(lithium fluoride)+HCl and NaF+HCl etchant can be used to prepare V_(2)C MXene.Moreover,the V_(2)C MXene samples made in CE had higher purity and better-layered structure than those made in OE.Although the purity of V_(2)C obtained by LiF+HCl is lower than that of V_(2)C obtained using NaF+HCl,it shows better electrochemical performance as anodes of lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).Therefore,etching in CE is a better method for preparing highly pure V_(2)C MXene,which provides a reference for expanding the synthesis methods of V_(2)C with better electrochemical properties. | Meng WU Yan HE Libo WANG Qixun XIA Aiguo ZHOU | 2020 | Journal of Advanced Ceramics2020,9,6: | 2 |
| 18 | Isolation and Characterization of Melanin Pigment from Yesso Scallop Patinopecten yessoensis显示文摘Melanin is one of the essential compounds in the pigments of molluscan shells.However,the effects of melanin on color variations in molluscs are largely unknown.Our previous study suggests that Yesso scallop Patinopecten yessoensis might contain melanin pigment in the dark brown shell.We therefore isolated melanin from the pigmented shells using hydrochloric acid method,and characterized the types of melanin pigments by spectrophotometry.The purified melanin,which was verified by spectrophotometry scanning and HPLC analysis,showed the typical characteristics of melanin absorption spectra and HPLC chromatograms.The contents of pheomelanin and eumelanin in pigmented shells,which were determined by the linear standard curve of melanin at 405 nm and 350 nm absorbance,were 48.23 ? 1.350 and 157.65 ? 5.905 mg,respectively.The present results indicate that the brown-pigmented shells of scallops comprise approximately 76.6% of eumelanin and 23.4% of pheomelanin,which supports the presence of eumelanin-rich pigment in scallop shells.Therefore,the combination of hydrochloric acid extraction and spectrophotometric quantification is a rapid and efficient method to isolate and quantify melanin in shells.This will facilitate the melanin studies related to shell color polymorphism and the selective breeding of bivalves with different shell colors. | SUN Xiujun WU Biao ZHOU Liqing LIU Zhihong DONG Yinghui YANG Aiguo | 2017 | Journal of Ocean University of China2017,16,2: | 2 |
