| 1 | NEXT:a neural network framework for next POI recommendation显示文摘The task of next POI recommendations has been studied extensively in recent years.However,developing a unified recommendation framework to incorporate multiple factors associated with both POIs and users remains challenging,because of the heterogeneity nature of these information.Further,effective mechanisms to smoothly handle cold-start cases are also a difficult topic.Inspired by the recent success of neural networks in many areas,in this paper,we propose a simple yet effective neural network framework,named NEXT,for next POI recommendations.NEXT is a unified framework to learn the hidden intent regarding user's next move,by incorporating different factors in a unified manner.Specifically,in NEXT,we incorporate meta-data information,e.g.,user friendship and textual descriptions of POIs,and two kinds of temporal contexts(i.e.,time interval and visit time).To leverage sequential relations and geographical influence,we propose to adopt DeepWalk,a network representation learning technique,to encode such knowledge.We evaluate the effectiveness of NEXT against other state-of-the-art alternatives and neural networks based solutions.Experimental results on three publicly available datasets demonstrate that NEXT significantly outperforms baselines in real-time next POI recommendations.Further experiments show inherent ability of NEXT in handling cold-start. | Zhiqian ZHANG Chenliang LI Zhiyong WU Aixin SUN Dengpan YE Xiangyang LUO | 2020 | Frontiers of Computer Science2020,14,2: | 5 |
| 2 | Serum macrophage migration inhibitory factor as a potential biomarker to evaluate therapeutic response in patients with allergic asthma:an exploratory study显示文摘Background:Previous studies have shown that macrophage migration inhibitory factor(MIF)is involved in the pathogenesis of asthma.This study aimed to investigate whether serum MIF reflects a therapeutic response in allergic asthma.Methods:We enrolled 30 asthmatic patients with mild-to-moderate exacerbations and 20 healthy controls,analyzing the parameter levels of serum MIF,serum total immunoglobulin E(tIgE),peripheral blood eosinophil percentage(EOS%),and fractional exhaled nitric oxide(FeNO).Lung function indices were used to identify disease severity and therapeutic response.Results:Our study showed that all measured parameters in patients were at higher levels than those of controls.After one week of treatment,most parameter levels decreased significantly except for serum tIgE.Furthermore,we found that serum MIF positively correlated with EOS%as well as FeNO,but negatively correlated with lung function indices.Receiver operator characteristic(ROC)curve analysis indicated that among the parameters,serum MIF exhibited a higher capacity to evaluate therapeutic response.The area under the curve(AUC)of MIF was 0.931,with a sensitivity of 0.967 and a specificity of 0.800.Conclusions:Our results suggested that serum MIF may serve as a potential biomarker for evaluating therapeutic response in allergic asthma with mild-to-moderate exacerbations. | Huiyuan ZHU Shaochun YAN Jingshuo WU Zhong ZHANG Xiaolin LI Zheng LIU Xing MA Lina ZHOU Lin ZHANG Mingming FENG Yiwei GENG Aixin ZHANG Sabina JANCIAUSKIENE Aiguo XU | 2021 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2021,22,6: | 3 |
| 3 | Segmentation of thermal infrared images of cucumber leaves using K-means clustering for estimating leaf wetness duration显示文摘Leaf wetness duration(LWD)is a critical parameter used to predict plant disease,but its determination under actual field conditions is a major challenge.In this study,a method for determining LWD using thermal infrared imaging was developed and applied to cucumber plants grown in a solar greenhouse.Thermal images of the plant leaves were captured using an infrared scanning camera,and a leaf wetness area segmentation method consisting of two procedures was applied.First,a color space conversion was performed automatically by an image-processing algorithm.Then,the K-means clustering algorithm was applied to enable the segmentation of the wetness area on the thermal image.Subsequently,to enable overall thermal image analysis,an initial leaf wetness threshold(LWT)of 5%was defined(where wetness values higher than 5%indicated that the leaf was in a wet state).The results of comparative experiments conducted using thermal images of plant leaves captured using an infrared scanning camera and human visual observation indicated that the estimated LWD values were generally higher than the observed LWD values,because slight leaf wetness condensations were overlooked by the human eye but detected by the infrared scanning camera.While these differences were not found to be statistically significant in this study,the proposed method for determining LWD using thermal infrared imaging may provide a new LWD detection method for cucumber and other plants grown in solar greenhouses. | Dongmei Wen Aixin Ren Tao Ji Isabel Maria Flores-Parra Xinting Yang Ming Li | 2020 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2020,13,3: | 3 |
| 4 | Monochromatic green light stimulation during incubation shortened the hatching time via pineal function in White Leghorn eggs显示文摘Background:Effect of monochromatic green light illumination on embryo development has been reported in chickens.The avian pineal gland is an important photo-endocrine organ formed by a mediodorsal protrusion during embryonic development.However,the involvement of pineal gland in the light transduction process remains to be elucidated.In the present study,we investigated the influence of monochromatic green light on hatching time and explored the possible mechanism via pineal function.Results:A total of 600 eggs of White Leghorn(Shaver strain)were incubated under photoperiods of either 12 h of light and 12 h of darkness using monochromatic green light(12L:12D group)or 24 h of darkness(0L:24D group)for 18 d.Compared to 0L:24D group,the green light stimulation shortened the hatching time without extending the hatch window or impairing hatchability.The liver of embryos incubated in the 12L:12D light condition was heavier than those of the 0L:24D group on d 21 post incubation which may be linked to the observed increase in the serum concentration of insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF-1);primary secretion of the liver.Histological structure analysis of pineal gland demonstrated that the light stimulation increased follicle area,wall thickness and lumen area on d 10 and d 12 post incubation.Rhythmic function analysis demonstrated that three clock related genes(brain and muscle ARNT-like-1,BMAL1;circadian locomotor output cycles kaput,CLOCK;and cryptochrome-1,CRY1)and a melatonin rate-limiting enzyme related gene(arylalkylamine N-acetyltransferase,AANAT)were rhythmically expressed in the pineal gland of the 12L:12D group,but not in the 0L:24D group.Simultaneously,the light stimulation also increased the concentration of melatonin(MT),which was linked to hepatocyte proliferation and IGF-1 secretion in previous studies.Conclusions:The 12L:12D monochromatic green light stimulation during incubation shortened hatching time without impairing hatching performance.Pineal gland’s early histological development and maturation of its rhythmic function were accelerated by the light stimulation.It may be the key organ in the photo-endocrine axis that regulates embryo development,and the potential mechanism could be through enhanced secretion of MT in the 12L:12D group which promotes the secretion of IGF-1. | Panlin Wang Yanyan Sun Yunlei Li Jing Fan Yunhe Zong Adamu Mani Isa Lei Shi Yuanmei Wang Aixin Ni Pingzhuang Ge Linlin Jiang Shixiong Bian Hui Ma Zhengdong Yuan Xiaolin Liu Jilan Chen | 2021 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,3: | 3 |

| 14 | Expression,purification and characterization of the soluble Cu_A domain of cytochrome c oxidase of Paracoccus versutus显示文摘The key subunit II of cytochrome c oxidase (CcO) contains a soluble binuclear copper center (CuA) domain. The CUA domain of Paracoccus versutus was cloned, expressed, purified and characterized. The gene encoding the CUA domain in pETlld vector was expressed in E. coli BL21 (DE3). The results showed that the CuA domain was expressed mostly in inclusion bodies and the CUA domain protein synthesized in E. coli cells represents approximately 10 percent of the total cellular proteins. Dissolved in urea, dia-lyzed and recombined with Cu+/Cu2+ and purified by the Q-sepharose fast flow anion-exchange column and Sephadex G-75 gel filtration column, the soluble purple-colored protein, which shows a single band in electrophoresis, was obtained. | 15 | Clinical Characteristics and Durations of Hospitalized Patients with COVID-19 in Beijing: A Retrospective Cohort Study显示文摘Objective:To provide information on clinical characteristics and different durations of COVID-19 and to identify the potential risk factors for longer hospitalization of patients with COVID-19.Methods:In this retrospective study,we enrolled 77 patients(age 52±20 years;44.2%males)with laboratory-confi rmed COVID-19 admitted to Beijing YouAn Hospital between January 21 and February 8,2020.Epidemiological,clinical,and radiological data on admission were collected;complications and outcomes were followed up until February 26,2020.The end point of the study was discharge alive within 2 weeks.Cox proportional-hazards regression was performed to identify risk factors for longer hospitalization.Results:Of 77 patients,there were 34 males(44.2%),24(31.2%)with comorbidities,22(28.6%)with lymphopenia,20(26.0%)with severe COVID-19,and 28(36.4%)with complications.By the end of follow-up,64 patients(83.1%)were discharged home,eight remained in hospital,and fi ve had died.Thirty-six patients(46.8%)were discharged within 14 days and thus reached the study end point,including 34 of the 57 patients with nonsevere COVID-19(59.6%)and two of the 20 patients with severe COVID-19(10%).The overall cumulative probability of the end point was 48.3%.Hospital length of stay and the duration from exposure to discharge for the 64 discharged patients were 13(10-16.5)days and 23(18-24.5)days,respectively.A multivariable stepwise Cox regression model showed that bilateral pneumonia on CT scan,shorter time from illness onset to admission,severity of disease,and lymphopenia were independently associated with longer hospitalization.Conclusions:COVID-19 has a shorter duration of disease and hospital length of stay than severe acute respiratory syndrome.Bilateral pneumonia on CT scan,shorter period from illness onset to admission,lymphopenia,and severity of disease are the risk factors for longer hospitalization of patients with COVID-19. | Wen Zhao Xiangyi Zha Ning Wang Dongzeng Li Aixin Li Shikai Yu | 2021 | Cardiovascular Innovations and Applications2021,,3: | 0 |
| 16 | Phase behavior and properties of salt-free cationic/anionic surfactant mixtures of oleic acid and stearic acid显示文摘Cationic base surfactant, tetradecyltrimethylammonium hydroxide (TTAOH), can be obtained through anion exchange from tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide (TTABr). Salt-free cationic and anionic (catanionic) surfactant mixtures were studied by mixing TTAOH with oleic acid (OA) or stearic acid (SA) in water. The phase behavior of TTAOH/OA/H2O is compared with that of TTAOH/SA/H2O. It was found that the phase behavior of TTAOH/OA/H2O and TTAOH/SA/H2O system differs from each other due to the existence of the unsaturated double carbon bond (C=C) in OA. At fixed total surfactant concentration (25 mg/mL) of TTAOH/OA/H2O system at 25℃, one can observe an isotropic L1 phase, and a L1/Lα two-phase region with increasing OA content. The volume of top turbid Lα phase increases while the bottom phase changes gradually from transparently clear to a bit turbid until a single Lα-phase is reached. Finally at high OA concentration, excess OA is separated from the bulk aqueous solutions. TTAOH/SA/H2O system usually forms white precipitating at 25℃ due to the high chain melting temperature of SA. When heated to 60℃, however, the state of samples changes. At fixed total surfactant concentration of 25 mg/mL, an isotropic L1 phase and a milk-white or bluish Lα-phase are observed with increasing SA concentration. Transparent thin layers which are strongly birefringent form at the tops of some samples within the Lα-phase region. Finally, at high SA concentration, excess SA is separated from the bulk aqueous solutions. In addition to phase behavior study, we also measured the conductivity of TTAOH/OA/H2O system at 25℃ and TTAOH/SA/H2O system at 60℃, respectively. | 17 | GMP-quadruplex-based hydrogels stabilized by lanthanide ions显示文摘This work describes the gelation behaviors and properties of a biological molecule, guanosine 5′-monophosphate disodium salt(GMP), in the presence of trivalent lanthanide ions. Hydrogels composed of GMP-quadruplexes were prepared by adjusting p H,through which the protonation of phosphate group was controlled to tune the interactions between lanthanide ions and GMP.Within the p H region of 2–6, the electrostatic interaction between lanthanide ions and phosphate group is hindered and the cation-dipole interaction acts as the main driving force for the formation of G-quadruplexes. All the hydrogels were found consisting of three-dimensional network of the intertwining one-dimensional nanofibers formed by the stacking G-quartets induced by lanthanide ions. | 18 | Degradation of amyloid β-peptides catalyzed by nattokinase in vivo and in vitro显示文摘Amyloid-β 1-42(Aβ42)plays a pivotal role in Alzheimer disease(AD)pathogenesis. Peripheral clearance of Aβ42 largely affects its level in the brain and affects AD progression. Although nattokinase(NK)degrades Aβ40, the details of NK's capture of various Aβ species and reduction of plasma Aβ42/Aβ40 are uncharacterized. In this study, the Aβ42/Aβ40-degrading ability of NK was investigated using five Aβs and AD model mice. The C-terminal region of Aβ42/Aβ40(Gly29 to Val40)was primarily required for NK capture, and the integrated conformation in Aβ42/Aβ40 aggregates was a more efficient target for NK catalysis. Further, suspended Aβ42/Aβ40 oligomers were more easily captured by NK than suspended Aβ42/Aβ40 fibrils, while deposited Aβ42/Aβ40 fibrils recruited more NK than deposited Aβ42/Aβ40 oligomers. Although most NK was likely lost during NK uptake and/or entry into the blood, a small fraction of NK showed good plasma Aβ42/Aβ40-degrading efficacy after entering the blood due to NK's stability in the plasma of AD mice for at least 9 days. It was concluded that oral administration of NK is a feasible approach for peripheral Aβ42/Aβ40 clearance. | 20 | An open-label evaluation of safety and tolerability of coformulated bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide for post-exposure prophylaxis following potential exposure to human immunodeficiency virus-1显示文摘Background: Single-tablet regimen (STR) provides a convenient once-daily regimen for the prevention of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Here, we investigated the safety and tolerability of coformulated bictegravir/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (BIC/FTC/TAF) as a three-drug, STR for post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) in Chinese individuals.Methods: This was a prospective, open-label, single-arm trial conducted in a sexually transmitted diseases and acquired immunodeficiency syndrome clinic of a tertiary hospital in Beijing, China. Adults requiring PEP were prescribed BIC/FTC/TAF one pill once a day for 28 days. Clinical and laboratory data were collected and analyzed at baseline, weeks 2, 4, 8, 12, and 24.Results: Of 112 participants enrolled in the study, 109 (97.3%) were male and the mean age was 30 ± 8 years. PEP completion was 96.4% (95% confidence interval: 91.1-99.0%). Two participants stopped PEP after 2 days because the source partner was identified as HIV uninfected. One participant was excluded due to hepatitis B virus infection according to the exclusion criteria. One discontinued due to the participant’s decision. No participant acquired HIV through week 24. Adherence was 98.9% (standard deviation [SD]: 3.3%) by self-reporting and 98.5% (SD: 3.5%) by pill count. Only five participants experienced mild clinical adverse events attributed to the study drug (including headache, diarrhea, and nausea) and four participants had elevated serum creatinine (grade 1).Conclusions: A once daily, STR of BIC/FTC/TAF used as PEP was safe and well-tolerated with a high rate of completion and adherence in Chinese.
