| 1 | Flooding and its relationship with land cover change, population growth, and road density显示文摘Bangladesh experiences frequent hydro-climatic disasters such as flooding.These disasters are believed to be associated with land use changes and climate variability.However,identifying the factors that lead to flooding is challenging.This study mapped flood susceptibility in the northeast region of Bangladesh using Bayesian regularization back propagation(BRBP)neural network,classification and regression trees(CART),a statistical model(STM)using the evidence belief function(EBF),and their ensemble models(EMs)for three time periods(2000,2014,and 2017).The accuracy of machine learning algorithms(MLAs),STM,and EMs were assessed by considering the area under the curve—receiver operating characteristic(AUC-ROC).Evaluation of the accuracy levels of the aforementioned algorithms revealed that EM4(BRBP-CART-EBF)outperformed(AUC>90%)standalone and other ensemble models for the three time periods analyzed.Furthermore,this study investigated the relationships among land cover change(LCC),population growth(PG),road density(RD),and relative change of flooding(RCF)areas for the period between 2000 and 2017.The results showed that areas with very high susceptibility to flooding increased by 19.72%between 2000 and 2017,while the PG rate increased by 51.68%over the same period.The Pearson correlation coefficient for RCF and RD was calculated to be 0.496.These findings highlight the significant association between floods and causative factors.The study findings could be valuable to policymakers and resource managers as they can lead to improvements in flood management and reduction in flood damage and risks. | Mahfuzur Rahman Chen Ningsheng Golam Iftekhar Mahmud Md Monirul Islam Hamid Reza Pourghasemi Hilal Ahmad Jules Maurice Habumugisha Rana Muhammad Ali Washakh Mehtab Alam Enlong Liu Zheng Han Huayong Ni Tian Shufeng Ashraf Dewan | 2021 | Geoscience Frontiers2021,12,6: | 3 |

| 5 | Cortisol and uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum malaria in an area of unstable malaria transmission in eastern Sudan显示文摘Objective:To investigate the levels of serum Cortisol in patients with uncomplicated Plasmodium falciparum(P.falciparum) malaria in an area of unstable malaria transmission in eastern Sudan. | 7 | Spatio-temporal variations in trends of vegetation and drought changes in relation to climate variability from 1982 to 2019 based on remote sensing data from East Asia显示文摘Studying the significant impacts on vegetation of drought due to global warming is crucial in order to understand its dynamics and interrelationships with temperature,rainfall,and normalized difference vegetation index(NDVI).These factors are linked to excesses drought frequency and severity on the regional scale,and their effect on vegetation remains an important topic for climate change study.East Asia is very sensitive and susceptible to climate change.In this study,we examined the effect of drought on the seasonal variations of vegetation in relation to climate variability and determined which growing seasons are most vulnerable to drought risk;and then explored the spatio-temporal evolution of the trend in drought changes in East Asia from 1982 to 2019.The data were studied using a series of several drought indexes,and the data were then classified using a heat map,box and whisker plot analysis,and principal component analysis.The various drought indexes from January to August improved rapidly,except for vegetation health index(VHI)and temperature condition index(TCI).While these indices were constant in September,they increased again in October,but in December,they showed a descending trend.The seasonal and monthly analysis of the drought indexes and the heat map confirmed that the East Asian region suffered from extreme droughts in 1984,1993,2007,and 2012among the study years.The distribution of the trend in drought changes indicated that more severe drought occurred in the northwestern region than in the southeastern area of East Asia.The drought tendency slope was used to describe the changes in drought events during 1982–2019 in the study region.The correlations among monthly precipitation anomaly percentage(NAP),NDVI,TCI,vegetation condition index(VCI),temperature vegetation drought index(TVDI),and VHI indicated considerably positive correlations,while considerably negative correlations were found among the three pairs of NDVI and VHI,TVDI and VHI,and NDVI and TCI.This ecological and climatic mechanism provides a good basis for the assessment of vegetation and drought-change variations within the East Asian region.This study is a step forward in monitoring the seasonal variation of vegetation and variations in drought dynamics within the East Asian region,which will serve and contribute to the better management of vegetation,disaster risk,and drought in the East Asian region. | Shahzad ALI Abdul BASIT Muhammad UMAIR Tyan Alice MAKANDA Fahim Ullah KHAN Siqi SHI NI Jian | 2023 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2023,22,10: | 0 |
| 8 | Formation, Structures and Electronic Properties of Silicene Oxides on Ag(111)显示文摘The formation, structural and electronic properties of silicene oxides(SOs) that result from the oxidation of silicene on Ag(111) surface have been investigated in the framework of density functional theory(DFT).It is found that the honeycomb lattice of silicene on the Ag(111) surface changes after the oxidation. SOs are strongly hybridized with the Ag(111) surface so that they possess metallic band structures. Charge accumulation between SOs and the Ag(111) surface indicates strong chemical bonding, which dramatically affects the electronic properties of SOs. | 9 | Floret-like Fe-N_(x)nanoparticle-embedded porous carbon superstructures from a Fe-covalent triazine polymer boosting oxygen electroreduction显示文摘Fe–N_(x)nanoparticles-embedded porous carbons with a desirable superstructure have attracted immense attention as promising catalysts for electrochemical oxygen reduction reaction.Herein,we employed Fe-coordinated covalent triazine polymer for the fabrication of Fe–N_(x)nanoparticle-embedded porous carbon nanoflorets(Fe/N@CNFs)employing a hypersaline-confinement-conversion strategy.Presence of tailored N types within the covalent triazine polymer interwork in high proportions contributes to the generation of Fe/N coordination and subsequent Fe–N_(x)nanoparticles.Owing to the utilization of NaCl crystals,the resultant Fe/N@CNF-800 which was generated by pyrolysis at 800℃showed nanoflower structure and large specific surface area,which remarkably suppressed the agglomeration of high catalytic active sites.As expect,the Fe/N@CNF-800 exhibited unexpected oxygen reduction reaction catalytic performance with an ultrahigh half-wave potential(0.89 V vs.reversible hydrogen electrode),a dominant 4e–transfer approach and great cycle stability(>92%after 100000 s).As a demonstration,the Fe/N-PCNF-800-assembled zinc–air battery delivered a high open circuit voltage of 1.51 V,a maximum peak power density of 164 mW·cm^(-2),as well as eminent rate performance,surpassing those of commercial Pt/C.This contribution offers a valuable avenue to exploit efficient metal nanoparticles-based carbon catalysts towards energy-related electrocatalytic reactions and beyond. | Yong Zheng Mingjin Li Yongye Wang Niu Huang Wei Liu Shan Chen Xuepeng Ni Kunming Li Siwei Xiong Yi Shen Siliang Liu Baolong Zhou Niaz Ali Khan Liqun Ye Chao Zhang Tianxi Liu | 2023 | Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2023,17,5: | 0 |
| 10 | Natural variation of main biochemical components,morphological and yield traits among a panel of 87 tea [Camellia sinensis(L.) O. Kuntze] cultivars显示文摘Many attentions have been previously focused to identify the multiple biochemical components related to tea quality and health benefits,however, the natural variation of biochemical components present in tea germplasm has not been adequately evaluated. In this study, the main biochemical components, leaf morphological and yield characteristics were evaluated for four rounds of tea leaves in a panel of 87 elite tea cultivars suitable for black, green, or oolong tea. Significant variations were observed among the tea cultivars, as well as seasonal differences in the levels of the free amino acid(FAA), caffeine(CAF), tea polyphenols(TP), water extract(WE) and TP to FAA ratio(TP/FAA). Results showed that the average levels of FAA showed a seasonal change, with the highest level of 4.0% in the 1st spring tea in the cultivars suitable for green tea and the lowest of 3.2% in summer tea in the cultivars suitable for black tea. The average CAF content was highest 3.2% in the cultivars suitable for oolong tea in the 1st spring and the lowest 2.5% in the cultivars suitable for green tea in summer. Limited seasonal and varietal variations were noticed in the average levels of WE among the three categories of tea. In addition, significant natural variation of the morphological characteristics, bud length varying from 2.5 cm to 8.7 cm, bud density from 190.3 buds · m-2to 1 730.3 buds · m-2, mature leaves biomass from 128.4 kg · hm-2to 2 888.4 kg · hm-2, and yield component traits of 100 buds(one bud with two leaves) dry weight from 3.7 g to37.7 g, tea yield/round from 444.6 kg · hm-2to 905.3 kg · hm-2, were observed. The aim of our evaluation was not only to identify the advantages of seasonal and clonal variations but also to provide a new viewpoint for their further application. Representative accessions were selected from the germplasm to promote the establishment of an inherent biochemical constituent expressing the quality of black, green, and oolong tea. | 11 | RIPK1 inhibition contributes to lysosomal membrane stabilization in ischemic astrocytes via a lysosomal Hsp70.1B-dependent mechanism显示文摘Receptor-interacting protein kinase 1(RIPK1)contributes to necroptosis.Our previous study showed that pharmacological or genetic inhibition of RIPK1 protects against ischemic stroke-induced astrocyte injury.In this study,we investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying RIPK1-mediated astrocyte injury in vitro and in vivo.Primary cultured astrocytes were transfected with lentiviruses and then subjected to oxygen and glucose deprivation(OGD).In a rat model of permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion(pMCAO),lentiviruses carrying shRNA targeting RIPK1 or shRNA targeting heat shock protein 70.1B(Hsp70.1B)were injected into the lateral ventricles 5 days before pMCAO was established.We showed that RIPK1 knockdown protected against OGD-induced astrocyte damage,blocked the OGD-mediated increase in lysosomal membrane permeability in astrocytes,and inhibited the pMCAO-induced increase in astrocyte lysosome numbers in the ischemic cerebral cortex;these results suggested that RIPK1 contributed to the lysosomal injury in ischemic astrocytes.We revealed that RIPK1 knockdown upregulated the protein levels of Hsp70.1B and increased the colocalization of Lamp1 and Hsp70.1B in ischemic astrocytes.Hsp70.1B knockdown exacerbated pMCAO-induced brain injury,decreased lysosomal membrane integrity and blocked the protective effects of the RIPK1-specific inhibitor necrostatin-1 on lysosomal membranes.On the other hand,RIPK1 knockdown further exacerbated the pMCAO-or OGD-induced decreases in the levels of Hsp90 and the binding of Hsp90 to heat shock transcription factor-1(Hsf1)in the cytoplasm,and RIPK1 knockdown promoted the nuclear translocation of Hsf1 in ischemic astrocytes,resulting in increased Hsp70.1B mRNA expression.These results suggest that inhibition of RIPK1 protects ischemic astrocytes by stabilizing lysosomal membranes via the upregulation of lysosomal Hsp70.1B;the mechanism underlying these effects involves decreased Hsp90 protein levels,increased Hsf1 nuclear translocation and increased Hsp70.1B mRNA expression. | Hua-ping Du Yi Guo Yong-ming Zhu De-fei Gao Bo Lin Yuan Liu Yuan Xu Ali Said Taous Khan Li-jun Liu Jian-jun Zhu Yong Ni Hui-ling Zhang | 2023 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2023,44,8: | 0 |
