1Distinction of white,beige and brown adipocytes derived from mesenchymal stem cells显示文摘Adipose tissue is a major metabolic organ, and it has been traditionally classified as either white adipose tissue(WAT) or brown adipose tissue(BAT). WAT and BAT are characterized by different anatomical locations, morphological structures, functions, and regulations. WAT and BAT are both involved in energy balance. WAT is mainly involved in the storage and mobilization of energy in the form of triglycerides, whereas BAT specializes in dissipating energy as heat during cold- or diet-induced thermogenesis. Recently, brownlike adipocytes were discovered in WAT. These brownlike adipocytes that appear in WAT are called beige or brite adipocytes. Interestingly, these beige/brite cells resemble white fat cells in the basal state, but they respond to thermogenic stimuli with increased levels of thermogenic genes and increased respiration rates. In addition, beige/brite cells have a gene expressionpattern distinct from that of either white or brown fat cells. The current epidemic of obesity has increased the interest in studying adipocyte formation(adipogenesis), especially in beige/brite cells. 8Specific bone region localization of osteolytic versus osteoblastic lesions in a patient-derived xenograft model of bone metastatic prostate cancer显示文摘Objective:Bone metastasis occurs in up to 90%of men with advanced prostate cancer and leads to fractures,severe pain and therapy-resistance.Bone metastases induce a spectrum of types of bone lesions which can respond differently to therapy even within individual prostate cancer patients.Thus,the special environment of the bone makes the disease more complicated and incurable.A model in which bone lesions are reproducibly induced that mirrors the complexity seen in patients would be invaluable for pre-clinical testing of novel treatments.The microstructural changes in the femurs of mice implanted with PCSD1,a new patient-derived xenograft from a surgical prostate cancer bone metastasis specimen,were determined.Methods:Quantitative micro-computed tomography(micro-CT)and histological analyses were performed to evaluate the effects of direct injection of PCSD1 cells or media alone(Control)into the right femurs of Rag2/gc/male mice.Results:Bone lesions formed only in femurs of mice injected with PCSD1 cells.Bone volume(BV)was significantly decreased at the proximal and distal ends of the femurs(p<0.01)whereas BV(p<0.05)and bone shaft diameter(p<0.01)were significantly increased along the femur shaft.Conclusion:PCSD1 cells reproducibly induced bone loss leading to osteolytic lesions at the ends of the femur,and,in contrast,induced aberrant bone formation leading to osteoblastic lesions along the femur shaft.Therefore,the interaction of PCSD1 cells with different bone region-specific microenvironments specified the type of bone lesion.Our approach can be used to determine if different bone regions support more therapy resistant tumor growth,thus,requiring novel treatments.Takeshi Hirata Seung Chol Park Michelle T.Muldong Christina N.Wu Tomonori Yamaguchi Amy Strasner Omer Raheem Hiromi Kumon Robert L.Sah Nicholas A.Cacalano Catriona H.M.Jamieson Christopher J.Kane Koichi Masuda Anna A.Kulidjian Christina A.M.Jamieson 2016Asian Journal of Urology2016,3,4:1

13Let the light be a guide:Chromophore communication in metalorganic frameworks显示文摘The photonic characteristics of chromophore-containing metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)have led to extensive photophysical studies in an effort to capitalize on the potency of precisely controlled chromophore ensembles.Several examples have laid the foundation that demonstrates how photophysical properties of chromophores can be manipulated by tuning their communications(interactions)through integration within a MOF matrix.The main focus of this review is on harnessing the versatile MOF platform to accentuate the photophysical properties of integrated chromophores.In particular,this review will highlight chromophore dynamics that enhance,alter,or tune the photoluminescence response of single-and multi-chromophore-containing scaffolds,as well as alignment-guided anisotropic fluorescence.Building upon this groundwork,utilization of a hybrid crystalline motif can induce preferential orientation of chromophores resulting in enhanced communication and tailored behavior compared to randomly oriented emissive molecules.Moreover,frameworks that produce upconverted emission via sensitized triplet-triplet annihilation(sTTA),excited-state absorption(ESA),energy transfer upconversion(ETU),multi-photon absorption(MPA),or second-harmonic generation(SHG)can invoke dynamic control of material properties using photochromic linkers and will be discussed herein with a focus on the effects of chromophore alignment.Integration within a framework is a vehicle tofuse chromophores into solid-state platforms,opening an avenue for chromophore utilization in applications such as portable electronics that require solids or thin films.For those reasons,the design of chromophore-containing MOFs with desirable properties that rely on the alignment and communication of hundreds of chromophores within a single platform is a pressing demand for the development of futuristic technologies.Corey R.Martin Preecha Kittikhunnatham Gabrielle A.Leith Anna A.Berseneva Kyoung Chul Park Andrew B.Greytak Natalia B.Shustova 2021Nano Research2021,14,2:1
