| 2 | Ozone and secondary organic aerosol formation potential from anthropogenic volatile organic compounds emissions in China显示文摘Volatile organic compounds(VOCs) are major precursors for ozone and secondary organic aerosol(SOA), both of which greatly harm human health and significantly affect the Earth's climate. We simultaneously estimated ozone and SOA formation from anthropogenic VOCs emissions in China by employing photochemical ozone creation potential(POCP) values and SOA yields. We gave special attention to large molecular species and adopted the SOA yield curves from latest smog chamber experiments. The estimation shows that alkylbenzenes are greatest contributors to both ozone and SOA formation(36.0% and51.6%, respectively), while toluene and xylenes are largest contributing individual VOCs.Industry solvent use, industry process and domestic combustion are three sectors with the largest contributions to both ozone(24.7%, 23.0% and 17.8%, respectively) and SOA(22.9%,34.6% and 19.6%, respectively) formation. In terms of the formation potential per unit VOCs emission, ozone is sensitive to open biomass burning, transportation, and domestic solvent use, and SOA is sensitive to industry process, domestic solvent use, and domestic combustion. Biomass stoves, paint application in industrial protection and buildings,adhesives application are key individual sources to ozone and SOA formation, whether measured by total contribution or contribution per unit VOCs emission. The results imply that current VOCs control policies should be extended to cover most important industrial sources, and the control measures for biomass stoves should be tightened. | 3 | Effect of local wound infiltration with ropivacaine on postoperative pain relief and stress response reduction after open hepatectomy显示文摘AIM To prospectively evaluate the effect of local wound infiltration with ropivacaine on postoperative pain relief and stress response reduction after open hepatectomy.METHODS A total of 56 patients undergoing open hepatectomy were randomly divided into two groups:a ropivacaine group(wound infiltration with ropivacaine solution)and a control group(infiltration with isotonic saline solution).A visual analog scale(VAS)at rest and on movement was used to measure postoperative pain for the first 48 h after surgery.Mean arterial pressure(MAP),heart rate(HR),time to bowel recovery,length of hospitalization after surgery,cumulative sufentanil consumption,and incidence of nausea and vomiting were compared between the two groups.Surgical stress hormones(epinephrine,norepinephrine,and cortisol)were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,and the results were compared. RESULTS VAS scores both at rest and on movement at 24 h and48 h were similar between the two groups.Significantly lower VAS scores were detected at 0,6,and 12 h in the ropivacaine group compared with the control group(P<0.05 for all).MAP was significantly lower at 6,12,and 24 h(P<0.05 for all);HR was significantly lower at 0,6,12,and 24 h(P<0.05 for all);time to bowel recovery and length of hospitalization after surgery(P<0.05 for both)were significantly shortened;and cumulative sufentanil consumption was significantly lower at 6,12,24,and 36 h(P<0.05 for all)in the ropivacaine group than in the control group,although the incidence of nausea and vomiting showed no significant difference between the two groups.The levels of epinephrine,norepinephrine,and cortisol were significantly lower in the ropivacaine group than in the control group at 24 and 48 h(P<0.01 for all). | 4 | Efectiveness of national air pollution control policies on the air quality in metropolitan areas of China显示文摘Understanding the efectiveness of national air pollution controls is important for control policy design to improve the future air quality in China. This study evaluated the efectiveness of major national control policies implemented recently in China through a modeling analysis. The sulfur dioxide(SO2) control policy during the 11th Five Year Plan period(2006–2010) had succeeded in reducing the national SO2emission in 2010 by 14% from its 2005 level, which correspondingly reduced ambient SO2and sulfate(SO4 2) concentrations by 13%–15% and 8%–10% respectively over east China. The nitrogen oxides(NOx) control policy during the 12th Five Year Plan period(2011–2015) targets the reduction of the national NOx emission in 2015 by 10% on the basis of 2010. The simulation results suggest that such a reduction in NOx emission will reduce the ambient nitrogen dioxide(NO2), nitrate(NO3), 1-hr maxima ozone(O3) concentrations and total nitrogen deposition by 8%, 3%–14%, 2% and 2%–4%, respectively over east China. The application of new emission standards for power plants will further reduce the NO2, NO3, 1-hr maxima O3concentrations and total nitrogen deposition by 2%–4%, 1%–6%, 0–2% and 1%–2%, respectively. | 5 | Efficacy and Safety of Quxie Capsule(祛邪胶囊) in Metastatic Colorectal Cancer:A Double-Blind Randomized Placebo Controlled Trial显示文摘Objective:To verify the efficacy and safety of Quxie Capsule(祛邪胶囊) in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer(mC RC).Methods:The present study was a randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled trial.Sixty patients with mC RC were randomized into two groups at a 1:1 ratio by sealed envelope.The treatment group received conventional therapy combined with Quxie Capsule for 3 months.The control group was treated with conventional therapy combined with placebo for 3 months.Main outcome measures were overall survival(OS) and progression-free survival(PFS).Subgroup analysis was performed according to age,right or left-sided disease,and second-line therapy to determine the differences in PFS and OS between the two groups.Patients were followed up every 3 months until Dec 31 st 2016.Results:The median OS was 23 months in the treatment group [95% confidence interval(CI):15–not calculated] vs.14 months in the control group(95% CI:11–22,P=0.060).The OS of the treatment group tended to be longer than that of the control group(P>0.05).In the subgroups of patients <65 years old,left-sided colon,and 2 nd-line therapy,the treatment group showed a significant survival benefit compared with the control group(P=0.006,0.038,0.013,respectively).There were no significant differences between the two groups in PFS(P>0.05).Safety analysis showed no severe hematological toxicity or liver and renal function injury in the treatment group.Conclusions:Quxie Capsule showed good safety and efficacy,and could prolong the OS of patients with mC RC. | ZHANG Tong YANG Yu-fei HE Bin YI Dan-hui HAO Jie ZHANG Da | 2018 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2018,24,3: | 20 |

| 9 | Numerical simulation of powder transport behavior in laser cladding with coaxial powder feeding显示文摘Laser cladding with coaxial powder feeding is one of the new processes applied to produce well bonding coating on the component to improve performance of its surface. In the process, the clad material is transported by the carrying gas through the coaxial nozzle, generating gas-powder flow. The powder feeding process in the coaxial laser cladding has important influence on the clad qualities. A 3D numerical model was developed to study the powder stream structure of a coaxial feeding nozzle. The predicted powder stream structure was well agreed with the experimental one. The validated model was used to explore the collision behavior of particles in the coaxial nozzle, as well as powder concentration distribution. It was found that the particle diameter and restitution coefficient greatly affect the velocity vector at outlet of nozzle due to the collisions, as well as the powder stream convergence characteristics below the nozzle. | 10 | Isoliquiritigenin inhibits TGF-β1-induced fibrogenesis through activating autophagy via PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway in MRC-5 cells显示文摘Isoliquiritigenin(ISL),a natural flavonoid derived from the root of liquorice,has been reported to possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant activities.Previous studies have found that ISL plays a crucial role in anti-fibrosis of adipose tissue and renal tissue;however,its effect on pulmonary fibrogenesis has not been demonstrated.In this study,we aimed to explore the roles and the underlying mechanisms of ISL in TGF-β1-induced fibrogenesis using human lung fibroblast-derived MRC-5 cells.Cell proliferation and migration were determined by MTT and wound healing assay,respectively.The expression levels of alpha-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA),collagen type I alpha 1(COLIA1)and fibronectin(FN),microtubule-associated protein light chain 3(LC3)and related signaling molecules were detected by quantitative real-time PCR,western blot and immunofluorescence assay,correspondingly.EGFP-LC3 transfection was used for autophagy analysis.The results showed that ISL inhibited the TGF-β1-induced proliferation and migration,and down-regulated the expressions ofα-SMA,COLIA1 and FN.ISL treatment led to up-regulation of LC3 in TGF-β1-treated MRC-5 cells,accompanied by significant decrease in the phosphorylation levels of phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K),protein kinase B(AKT),and mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR).In addition,the inhibitory effects of ISL on TGF-β1-induced fibrogenic features in MRC-5 cells were enhanced by pretreatment with autophagy activator Rapmycin and PI3K/AKT inhibitor LY294002 and reversed by autophagy inhibitor 3-methyladenine and PI3K/AKT activator IGF-1.Taken together,our results demonstrated that ISL could attenuate the fibrogenesis of TGF-β1-treated MRC-5 cells by activating autophagy via suppressing the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway.Therefore,ISL holds a great potential to be developed as a novel therapeutic agent for the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis. | Jinjuan He Hao Peng Meifang Wang Ying Liu Xingrong Guo Bin Wang Longjun Dai Xueqin Cheng Zhongji Meng Leyong Yuan Fenglin Cai Yijun Tang | 2020 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,8: | 16 |

This study investigates the effects of ginsenoside Rbl, a major constituent of ginseng,on H2O2-induced endothelial senescence.Methods Primary human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) senescence was induced by H2O2 as judged by senescence-associated P-galactosidase assay (SA-P-gal).Fntracellur superoxide dismutase(S0D1) activity and malondialdehyde(MDA) level were determined by commercial kit.S0D1 mRNA and protein expression were analyzed by real time PCR and Western blot.Reactive oxygen species(ROS) were determined by flow cytometry.Results Rb1 was found to reverse endothelial senescence,as witnessed by a significant decrease of senescent cell numbers. Rbl could markedly increase intracellular SOD activity, decrease the MDA level,and suppress the generation of intracellular ROS in H2O2-treated HUVECs.Consistent with these findings,Rbl can effectively restore SOD1 mRNA and protein expression which decreased in H2O2 treated cells. | 15 | Overlay of a sponge soaked with ropivacaine and multisite infiltration analgesia result in faster recovery after laparoscopic hepatectomy显示文摘BACKGROUND Compared with traditional open surgery,laparoscopic surgery is preferred due to the advantages of less trauma,less pain,and faster recovery.Nevertheless,many patients still suffer from postoperative pain resulting from the surgical incision and associated tissue injury.Many researchers have reported methods to improve postoperative pain control,but there is not a simple and effective method that can be clinically adopted in a widespread manner.We designed this study to prove the hypothesis that application of ropivacaine in the port site and operative site in patients is an effective and convenient method which can decrease postoperative pain and accelerate recovery.AIM To evaluate the effects of ropivacaine on pain control after laparoscopic hepatectomy and its contribution to patient recovery.METHODS From May 2017 to November 2018,146 patients undergoing laparoscopic hepatectomy were randomized to receive infiltration of either 7.5 mg/mL ropivacaine around the trocar insertions,incision,and cutting surface of the liver(with a gelatin sponge soaked with ropivacaine)at the end of surgery(ropivacaine group),or normal saline(5 mL)at the same sites at the end of surgery(control group).The degree of pain,nausea,vomiting,heart rate(HR),and blood pressure were collected.The length of postoperative hospitalization,complications,and the levels of stress hormones were also compared between the two groups.RESULTS Compared with the control group,the ropivacaine group showed reduced postoperative pain at rest within 12 h(P<0.05),and pain on movement was reduced within 48 h.The levels of epinephrine,norepinephrine,and cortisol at 24 and 48 h,HR,blood pressure,and cumulative sufentanil consumption in the ropivacaine group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).In the ropivacaine group,hospitalization after operation was shorter,but the difference was not statistically significant.There were no significant differences in postoperative nausea,vomiting,or other complications,including hydrothorax,ascites,peritonitis,flatulence,and venous thrombus(P>0.05),although fewer patients in the ropivacaine group experienced these situations.CONCLUSION Infiltration with ropivacaine in the abdominal wound and covering the cutting surface of the liver with a gelatin sponge soaked with ropivacaine significantly reduce postoperative pain and the consumption of sufentanil. | Hao Zhang Gang Du Yan-Feng Liu Jin-Huan Yang Mu-Guo A-Niu Xiang-Yu Zhai Bin Jin | 2019 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,34: | 13 |
| 16 | Autophagy inhibition enhances apigenin-induced apoptosis in human breast cancer cells显示文摘Apigenin (4',5,7-trihydroxyflavone) is a member of the flavone subclass of flavonoids present in fruits and vegetables. The involvement of autophagy in the apigenin-induced apoptotic death of human breast cancer cells was investigated. Cell proliferation and viability were assessed by 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol- 2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide (MTT) and clonogenic assays. Flow cytometry, fluorescent staining and Western blot analysis were employed to detect apoptosis and autophagy, and the role of autophagy was assessed using autophagy inhibitors. Apigenin dose- and time-dependently repressed the proliferation and clonogenic survival of the human breast cancer T47D and MDA-MB-231 cell lines. The death of T47D and MDA-MB-231 cells was due to apoptosis associated with increased levels of Caspase3, PARP cleavage and Bax/Bcl-2 ratios. The results from flow cytometry and fluorescent staining also verified the occurrence of apoptosis. In addition, the apigenin-treated cells exhibited autophagy, as characterized by the appearance of autophagosomes under fluorescence microscopy and the accumulation of acidic vesicular organelles (AVOs) by flow cytometry. Furthermore, the results of the Western blot analysis revealed that the level of LC3-II, the processed form of LC3-I, was increased. Treatment with the autophagy inhibitor, 3-methyladenine (3-MA), significantly enhanced the apoptosis induced by apigenin, which was accompanied by an increase in the level of PARP cleavage. Similar results were also confirmed by flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy. These results indicate that apigenin has apoptosis-and autophagy-inducing effects in breast cancer cells. | 19 | Zeolite and fungi’s flocculability of simulated wastewater containing heavy metal ions or phosphorus显示文摘This paper focuses on the flocculability of simulated wastewater containing heavy metal ions (Fe3+, Cd2+) or phosphorus by zeolite, microbial flocculants (MBF) produced by Aspergillus niger and the composite flocculant composed of zeolite and MBF. The main results are presented as follows: zeolite was a good flocculant when the contamination of the three simulated wastewaters was low, but the treated water is of turbidness and the particles in it are hard to precipitate. The MBF have a good flocculability toward Fe3+ wastewater, as well as particulate matter. Significant changes in flocculability occurred after adding the composite flocculant in different simulated wastewa-ters, the best or least effect respective for Fe3+ and Cd2+ wastewater.
