| 1 | Functional Metabolomics Reveals that Astragalus Polysaccharides Improve Lipids Metabolism through Microbial Metabolite 2-Hydroxybutyric Acid in Obese Mice显示文摘Polysaccharides are widely present in herbs with multiple activities,especially immunity regulation and metabolic benefits for metabolic disorders.However,the underlying mechanisms are not well under-stood.Functional metabolomics is increasingly used to investigate systemic effects on the host by iden-tifying metabolites with particular functions.This study explores the mechanisms underlying the metabolic benefits of Astragalus polysaccharides(APS)by adopting a functional metabolomics strategy.The effects of APS were determined in eight-week high-fat diet(HFD)-fed obese mice.Then,gas chromatography–time-of-flight mass spectrometry(GC–TOFMS)-based untargeted metabolomics was performed for an analysis of serum and liver tissues,and liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrom-etry(LC–MS/MS)-based targeted metabolomics was performed.The potential functions of the metabo-lites were tested with in vitro and in vivo models of metabolic disorders.Our results first confirmed the metabolic benefits of APS in obese mice.Then,metabolomics analysis revealed that APS supplemen-tation reversed the HFD-induced metabolic changes,and identified 2-hydroxybutyric acid(2-HB)as a potential functional metabolite for APS activity that was significantly decreased by a HFD and reversed by APS.Further study indicated that 2-HB inhibited oleic acid(OA)-induced triglyceride(TG)accumula-tion.It was also found to stimulate the expression of proteins in lipid degradation in hepatocytes and TG lipolysis in 3T3-L1 cells.Moreover,it was found to reduce serum TG and regulate the proteins involved in lipid degradation in high-fat and high-sucrose(HFHS)-fed mice.In conclusion,our study demonstrates that the metabolic benefits of APS are at least partially due to 2-HB generation,which modulated lipid metabolism both in vitro and in vivo.Our results also highlight that functional metabolomics is practical for investigating the mechanism underlying the systemic benefits of plant polysaccharides. | Bingbing Li Ying Hong Yu Gu Shengjie Ye Kaili Hu Jian Yao Kan Ding Aihua Zhao Wei Jia Houkai Li | 2022 | Engineering2022,8,2: | 6 |

| 4 | Ionic conductive gels based on deep eutectic solvents显示文摘Ionic conductive gels are promising soft conductors for stretchable and flexible electronics.Unfortunately,the basic requirements for an ideal ionic conductive gel,including environmental and chemical stability as well as low toxicity and low cost do not usually coincide in one material.Here we report an ionic conductive gel containing deep eutectic solvents(DES),which are specialized ionic liquids composed of propylene glycol(PG,hydrogen bonding donor)and various salts.In experiments,the DES-gel loses about 10%of the original weight in dry air(5–9%relative humidity)for 7 days and its conductivity remains unaltered.Comparing to regular salt-containing hydrogels,it exhibits exceptional resistance to metal corrosion.We demonstrate the advantage of DES-gels as the ionic electrode in a flexible and stretchable electroluminescent device,especially in cold environment(−20°C).Through this study,we discover a new candidate for cheap and safe soft ionic conductors with excellent environmental and chemical stability. | Cuiping Liu Jinfan Qi Bingbing He Huan Zhang Jie Ju Xi Yao | 2021 | International Journal of Smart and Nano Materials2021,12,3: | 1 |

| 10 | Deletion of CHD8 in cerebellar granule neuron progenitors leads to severe cerebellar hypoplasia,ataxia,and psychiatric behavior in mice显示文摘CHD8 is a candidate gene for autism spectrum disorders and neurological development delay.It has been reported to be essential for neurogenesis in the cerebral cortex,but the function of CHD8 in cerebellum has not been comprehensively investigated.The potential relationship of cerebellum dysplasia with psychiatric disorders in patients with CHD8 mutations is still not clear.In this study,we establish different conditional knockout mouse models to investigate the roles of CHD8 in cerebellar development.Mice with neural stem cell-specific Chd8 deletion exhibit significant reduction of cerebellum volume and no layering structure is detected.Genetic deletion of Chd8 in cerebellar granule neuron progenitors(GNPs)leads to cerebellar hypoplasia,absent of proliferation layer and ectopic of Purkinje neuron.However,no substantial cerebellar dysplasia is detected in mice with Purkinje neuron-or oligodendrocyte-specific Chd8 ablation.Single-cell RNA sequencing indicates that ribosome-related genes and pathways are most significantly disrupted in GNPs,indicating the potential mechanism.Importantly,in addition to the ataxia phenotype,mice with GNPspecific Chd8 ablation present a neuropsychiatric phenotype in three-chamber and light/dark tests.Taken together,our results provide insights not only into the function of CHD8 in cerebellar development,but also the pathogenesis of neuropsychiatric disorders in patients with CHD8 mutations. | Xiang Chen Tong Chen Chen Dong Huiyao Chen Xinran Dong Lin Yang Liyuan Hu Huijun Wang Bingbing Wu Ye Yao Yu Xiong Man Xiong Yifeng Lin Wenhao Zhou | 2022 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2022,49,9: | 1 |

| 15 | The underappreciated role of fugitive VOCs in ozone formation and health risk assessment emitted from seven typical industries in China显示文摘Fugitive emission from industrial sources may result in ozone formation and health risk,while the exact contribution of this source remains incompletely understood.In this study,emission characteristics,ozone formation potential(OFP)and health risk of fugitive VOCs in7 representative industries were investigated.Chemical material industry was the dominant contributor to VOCs of fugitive emission in comparison with other industries.The OFP of VOCs from fugitive emission was in the range of 1.45×10^(3)-3.98×10^(5)μg/m^(3),with a higher value than that of organized emission in seven industries except for the coking industry and the chemical material industry,suggesting that fugitive VOCs should be taken into account while developing control strategies.Acetaldehyde,m,p-xylene,n-nonane,ethylene,vinyl chloridethe and other high OFP-contributing species were the major reactive species that should be targeted.Health risk assessment investigated non-cancer and cancer risks of fugitive VOCs in 7 industries were all above safe level(HR>1 and LCR>1×10^(-4)),posing remarkable health threats to human health.OVOCs were the main contributor to non-cancer risk,while halohydrocarbons and aromatics contributed most to cancer risks,posing remarkable health threat on human health.Our findings highlighted the contribution of fugitive VOCs on ozone formation and health risk was underestimated,indicating which should be considered in emission control strategies of industrial sources. | Zhiling Liang Yunjiang Yu Bingbing Sun Qian Yao Xihua Lin Yongsheng Wang Jianping Zhang Yingzi Li Xuefeng Wang Zhengzheng Tang Shexia Ma | 2024 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,2: | 0 |

As a new kind of macrocyclic host compound, pillar[n]arenes show very good performance in the detection and separation of pesticides, especially for paraquat(PQ). For the pesticide detection and separation materials, their structures determine performance. Therefore, this review summarizes the recent progress of pillar[n]arenes-based materials for detection and separation of pesticides covering single/multi-pillar[n]arenes, pillar[n]arenes-based polymers, frameworks, composites, nanomaterials, etc.The structure-performance relationships of these materials have been discussed according to the cavity size, the synergistic or collaboration effect, the structure of the polymer or framework, the substrate of the composites and the size of nanomaterials and so on.
