| 1 | A novel nonviral nanoparticle gene vector: Poly-L-lysine- silica nanoparticles显示文摘DNA delivery is a core technology for gene structure and function research as well as clinical settings. The ability to safely and efficiently targeted transfer foreign DNA into cells is a fundamental goal in biotechnology. With the development of nanobiotechnology, nanoparticle gene vectors brought about new hope to reach the goal. In our research, silica nanoparticles (SiNP) were synthesized first in a microemulsion system polyoxyethylene nonylphenyl ether (OP-10)/cyclohexane/ammonium hydroxide, at the same time the effects of SiNP size and its distribution were elucidated by orthogonal analysis; then poly-L-lysine (PLL) was linked on the surface of SiNP by nanoparticle surface energy and electrostatically binding; lastly a novel complex nanomate-rial-poly-L-lysine-silica nanoparticles (PLL-SiNP) wasprepared. The analysis of plasmid DNA binding and DNase I enzymatic degradation discovered that PLL-SiNP could bind DNA, and protect it against enzymatic degradation. | 2 | Multiple action sites of ultrasound on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus显示文摘Ultrasound,is thought to a potential non-thermal sterilization technology in food industry.However,the exact mechanisms underlying microbial inactivation by ultrasound still remain obscure.In this study,the action modes of ultrasound on both Gram-negative and Gram-positive microorganisms were estimated.From colony results,ultrasound acted as an irreversible effect on both Eshcerichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus without sublethal injury.The result in this study also showed that a proportion of bacteria subpopulation suffered from serious damage of intracellular components(e.g.DNA and enzymes)but with intact cell envelopes.We speculated that the inactivated effects of ultrasound on microbes might more than simply completed disruption of cell exteriors.Those microbial cells who had not enter the valid area of ultrasonic cavitation might be injected with free radicals produced by ultrasound and experienced interior injury with intact exterior structure,and others who were in close proximity to the ultrasonic wave field would be immediately and completely disrupted into debris by high power mechanic forces.These findings here try to provide extension for the inactivation mechanisms of ultrasound on microorganisms. | Xinyu Liao Jiao Li Yuanjie Suo Shiguo Chen Xingqian Ye Donghong Liu Tian Ding | 2018 | Food Science and Human Wellness2018,7,1: | 6 |
| 3 | Microdisk lasers on an erbium-doped lithium-niobite chip显示文摘Lithium niobate on insulator(LNOI) provides a platform for the fundamental physics investigations and practical applications of integrated photonics. However, as an indispensable building block of integrated photonics, lasers are in short supply. In this paper, erbium-doped LNOI laser in the 1550-nm band was demonstrated in microdisk cavities with high quality factors fabricated in batches by UV exposure, inductively coupled plasma reactive ion etching, and chemomechanical polishing. The threshold and conversion efficiency of the erbium-doped LNOI microdisk laser were measured to be lower than 1 m W and 6.5×10^(-5)%, respectively. | 4 | Astragaloside Ⅳ suppresses post-ischemic natural killer cell infiltration and activation in the brain:involvement of histone deacetylase inhibition显示文摘Natural killer(NK)cells,a type of cytotoxic lymphocytes,can infiltrate into ischemic brain and exacerbate neuronal cell death.Astragaloside Ⅳ(ASIV)is the major bioactive ingredient of Astragalus membranaceus,a Chinese herbal medicine,and possesses potent immunomodulatory and neuroprotective properties.This study investigated the effects of ASIV on post-ischemic brain infiltration and activation of NK cells.ASIV reduced brain infarction and alleviated functional deficits in MCAO rats,and these beneficial effects persisted for at least 7 days.Abundant NK cells infiltrated into the ischemic hemisphere on day 1 after brain ischemia,and this infiltration was suppressed by ASIV.Strikingly,ASIV reversed NK cell deficiency in the spleen and blood after brain ischemia.ASIV inhibited astrocyte-derived CCL2 upregulation and reduced CCR2+NK cell levels in the ischemic brain.Meanwhile,ASIV attenuated NK cell activating receptor NKG2D levels and reduced interferon-γproduction.ASIV restored acetylation of histone H3 and the p65 subunit of nuclear factor-κB in the ischemic brain,suggesting inhibition of histone deacetylase(HDAC).Simultaneously,ASIV prevented p65 nuclear translocation.The effects of ASIV on reducing CCL2 production,restoring acetylated p65 levels and preventing p65 nuclear translocation were mimicked by valproate,an HDAC inhibitor,in astrocytes subjected to oxygen-glucose deprivation.Our findings suggest that ASIV inhibits post-ischemic NK cell brain infiltration and activation and reverses NK cell deficiency in the periphery,which together contribute to the beneficial effects of ASIV against brain ischemia.Furthermore,ASIV’s effects on suppressing NK cell brain infiltration and activation may involve HDAC inhibition. | Baokai Dou Shichun Li Luyao Wei Lixin Wang Shiguo Zhu Zhengtao Wang Zunji Ke Kaixian Chen Zhifei Wang | 2021 | Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,1: | 3 |
| 5 | A New Index Developed for Fast Diagnosis of Meteorological Roles in Ground-Level Ozone Variations显示文摘China experienced worsening ground-level ozone(O_(2)) pollution from 2013 to 2019. In this study, meteorological parameters, including surface temperature(T_(2)), solar radiation(SW), and wind speed(WS), were classified into two aspects,(1) Photochemical Reaction Condition(PRC = T_(2)× SW) and(2) Physical Dispersion Capacity(PDC = WS). In this way, a Meteorology Synthetic Index(MSI = PRC/PDC) was developed for the quantification of meteorology-induced ground-level O_(2)pollution. The positive linear relationship between the 90 th percentile of MDA8(maximum daily 8-h average) O_(2)concentration and MSI determined that the contribution of meteorological changes to ground-level O-3 varied on a latitudinal gradient, decreasing from ~40% in southern China to 10%–20% in northern China. Favorable photochemical reaction conditions were more important for ground-level O_(2)pollution. | 7 | Identification of Fucans from Four Species of Sea Cucumber by High Temperature ~1H NMR显示文摘Acidic polysaccharide, which has various biological activities, is one of the most important components of sea cucumber. In the present study, crude polysaccharide was extracted from four species of sea cucumber from three different geographical zones, Pearsonothuria graeffei(Pg) from Indo-Pacific, Holothuria vagabunda(Hv) from Norwegian Coast, Stichopus tremulu(St) from Western Indian Ocean, and Isostichopus badionotu(Ib) from Western Atlantic. The polysaccharide extract was separated and purified with a cellulose DEAE anion-exchange column to obtain corresponding sea cucumber fucans(SC-Fucs). The chemical property of these SC-Fucs, including molecular weight, monosaccharide composition and sulfate content, was determined. Their structure was compared simply with fourier infrared spectrum analyzer and identified with high temperature 1H nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum analyzer(NMR) and room temperature 13 C NMR. The results indicated that Fuc-Pg obtained from the torrid zone mainly contained 2,4-O-disulfated and non-sulfated fucose residue, whereas Fuc-Ib from the temperate zone contained non-, 2-O- and 2,4-O-disulfated fucose residue; Fuc-St from the frigid zone and Fuc-Hv from the torrid zone contained mainly non-sulfated fucose residue. The proton of SC-Fucs was better resolved via high temperature 1H NMR than via room temperature 1H NMR. The fingerprint of sea cucumber in different sea regions was established based on the index of anomer hydrogen signal in SC-Fucs. | 11 | Non‑Leaching,Rapid Bactericidal and Biocompatible Polyester Fabrics Finished with Benzophenone Terminated N‑halamine显示文摘Pathogenic bacteria can proliferate rapidly on porous fabrics to form bacterial plaques/bioflms,resulting in potential sources of cross-transmissions of diseases and increasing cross-infection in public environments.Many works on antibacterial modifcation of cotton fabrics have been reported,while very few works were reported to endow poly(ethylene terephthalate)(PET)fabrics with non-leaching antibacterial function without compromising their innate physicochemical properties though PET is the most widely used fabric.Therefore,it is urgent to impart the PET fabrics with non-leaching antibacterial activity.Herein,a novel N-halamine compound,1-chloro-3-benzophenone-5,5-dimethylhydantoin(Cl-BPDMH),was developed to be covalently bonded onto PET fabrics,rendering non-leaching antibacterial activity while negligible cytotoxicity based on contact-killing principle.Bacterial was easily adhered to Cl-BPDMH fnished PET fabrics,and then it was inactivated quickly within 10 s.Furthermore,the breaking strength,breaking elongation,tearing strength,water vapor permeability,air permeability and whiteness of Cl-BPDMH fnished PET fabrics were improved obviously compared to raw PET fabrics.Hence,this work developed a facile approach to fabricate multifunctional synthetic textiles to render outstanding and rapid bactericidal activity without compromising their physicochemical properties and biocompatibility. | Shu Wang JianNa Li Yihong Cao JingWei Gu YuanFeng Wang ShiGuo Chen | 2022 | Advanced Fiber Materials2022,4,1: | 1 |

| 19 | Pre-Drilling Prediction Techniques on the High-Temperature High-Pressure Hydrocarbon Reservoirs Offshore Hainan Island,China显示文摘Decreasing the risks and geohazards associated with drilling engineering in high-temperature high-pressure(HTHP) geologic settings begins with the implementation of pre-drilling prediction techniques(PPTs). To improve the accuracy of geopressure prediction in HTHP hydrocarbon reservoirs offshore Hainan Island, we made a comprehensive summary of current PPTs to identify existing problems and challenges by analyzing the global distribution of HTHP hydrocarbon reservoirs, the research status of PPTs, and the geologic setting and its HTHP formation mechanism. Our research results indicate that the HTHP formation mechanism in the study area is caused by multiple factors, including rapid loading, diapir intrusions, hydrocarbon generation, and the thermal expansion of pore fluids. Due to this multi-factor interaction, a cloud of HTHP hydrocarbon reservoirs has developed in the Ying-Qiong Basin, but only traditional PPTs have been implemented, based on the assumption of conditions that do not conform to the actual geologic environment, e.g., Bellotti's law and Eaton's law. In this paper, we focus on these issues, identify some challenges and solutions, and call for further PPT research to address the drawbacks of previous works and meet the challenges associated with the deepwater technology gap.
