1Genome-wide Dissection of Co-selected UV-B Responsive Pathways in the UV-B Adaptation of Qingke显示文摘Qingke (Tibetan hulless barley) has long been cultivated and exposed to long-term and strong UV-B radiation on the Tibetan Plateau, which renders it an ideal species for elucidating novel UV-B responsive mechanisms in plants. Here we report a comprehensive metabolite profiling and metabolite-based genome-wide association study (mGWAS) using 196 diverse qingke and barley accessions. Our results demonstrated both constitutive and induced accumulation, and common genetic regulation, of metabolites from different branches of the phenylpropanoid pathway that are involved in UV-B protection. A total of 90 significant mGWAS loci for these metabolites were identified in barley-qingke differentiation regions, and a number of high-level metabolite trait alleles were found to be significantly enriched in qingke, suggesting co-selection of various phenylpropanoids. Upon dissecting the entire phenylpropanoid pathway, we identified some key determinants controlling natural variation of phenylpropanoid content, including three novel proteins, a flavone C-pentosyltransferase, a tyramine hydroxycinnamoyl acyltransferase, and a MYB transcription factor. 2Effects of surface waves and sea spray on air–sea fluxes during the passage of Typhoon Hagupit显示文摘Air–sea exchange plays a vital role in the development and maintenance of tropical cyclones(TCs). Although studies have suggested the dependence of air–sea fluxes on surface waves and sea spray, how these processes modify those fluxes under TC conditions have not been sufficiently investigated based on in-situ observations.Using continuous meteorological and surface wave data from a moored buoy in the northern South China Sea,this study examines the effects of surface waves and sea spray on air–sea fluxes during the passage of Typhoon Hagupit. The mooring was within about 40 km of the center of Hagupit. Surface waves could increase momentum flux to the ocean by about 15%, and sea spray enhanced both sensible and latent heat fluxes to the atmosphere,causing Hagupit to absorb 500 W/m^2 more heat flux from the ocean. 3Development and Application of a High-Performance Triangular Shell Element and an Explicit Algorithm in OpenSees for Strongly Nonlinear Analysis显示文摘The open-source finite element software,OpenSees,is widely used in the earthquake engineering community.However,the shell elements and explicit algorithm in OpenSees still require further improvements.Therefore,in this work,a triangular shell element,NLDKGT,and an explicit algorithm are proposed and implemented in OpenSees.Specifically,based on the generalized conforming theory and the updated Lagrangian formulation,the proposed NLDKGT element is suitable for problems with complicated boundary conditions and strong nonlinearity.The accuracy and reliability of the NLDKGT element are validated through typical cases.Furthermore,by adopting the leapfrog integration method,an explicit algorithm in OpenSees and a modal damping model are developed.Finally,the stability and efficiency of the proposed shell element and explicit algorithm are validated through the nonlinear time-history analysis of a highrise building.Xinzheng Lu Yuan Tian Chujin Sun Shuhao Zhang 2019Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2019,,9:1

8Physicochemical properties of gelatin produced from Nile tilapia skin using chemical and fermentation pretreatments显示文摘In this study,we aimed to verify the effectiveness of fermentation as a pretreatment in Nile tilapia(Oreochromis niloticus)skin gelatin production and to assess its effects on the extracted gelatin.Chemical-gelatin(CG)and fermentation-gelatin(FG)were extracted using hot water from tilapia skin after immersion in chemical reagents(sodium hydroxide and butanol)and after fermentation with Bacillus velezensis FEL-BM21,respectively.FG presented a higher recovery(27.40%),yield(49.99%),and imino acid(proline and hydroxyproline)content(177.17±0.35 residues/1000 residues)than CG,but had a lower molecular weight.Fourier transform infrared and circular dichroism spectroscopy confirmed that the collagen was denatured,and scanning electron microscopy revealed that FG had a more continuous filamentous structure than CG.Furthermore,except for transmittance(66.19%at 450 nm and 86.36%at 620 nm),FG exhibited higher gel strength(492.81 g),gelling point(28.93℃),and melting point(18.33℃)than CG.These findings suggest that fermentation can be used to treat gelatin raw materials without negatively affecting the structure of gelatin.Moreover,fermentation has potential industrial applications as an alternative to chemical treatment.Tingju Chen Zengliu Song Huanming Liu Chunxia Zhou Pengzhi Hong Chujin Deng 2022Food Bioscience2022,47,3:1
9Application and evaluation of layering shear method in LADCP data processing显示文摘The current velocity observation of LADCP(Lowered Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler)has the advantages of a large vertical range of observation and high operability compared with traditional current measurement methods,and is being widely used in the field of ocean observation.Shear and inverse methods are now commonly used by the international marine community to process LADCP data and calculate ocean current profiles.The two methods have their advantages and shortcomings.The shear method calculates the value of current shear more accurately,while the accuracy in an absolute value of the current is lower.The inverse method calculates the absolute value of the current velocity more accurately,but the current shear is less accurate.Based on the shear method,this paper proposes a layering shear method to calculate the current velocity profile by“layering averaging”,and proposes corresponding current calculation methods according to the different types of problems in several field observation data from the western Pacific,forming an independent LADCP data processing system.The comparison results have shown that the layering shear method can achieve the same effect as the inverse method in the calculation of the absolute value of current velocity,while retaining the advantages of the shear method in the calculation of a value of the current shear.Zijian Cui Chujin Liang Binbin Guo Feilong Lin Yong Mu 2023Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,12:0

11An Efficient Local Radial Basis Function Method for Image Segmentation Based on the Chan-Vese Model显示文摘In this paper,we consider the Chan–Vese(C-V)model for image segmentation and obtain its numerical solution accurately and efficiently.For this purpose,we present a local radial basis function method based on a Gaussian kernel(GA-LRBF)for spatial discretization.Compared to the standard radial basis functionmethod,this approach consumes less CPU time and maintains good stability because it uses only a small subset of points in the whole computational domain.Additionally,since the Gaussian function has the property of dimensional separation,the GA-LRBF method is suitable for dealing with isotropic images.Finally,a numerical scheme that couples GA-LRBF with the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method is applied to the C-V model,and a comparison of some numerical results demonstrates that this scheme achieves much more reliable image segmentation.Shupeng Qiu Chujin Lin Wei Zhao 2024Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2024,139,4:0
