| 1 | Bridging the Gap between Western and Chinese Evidence in the International Education Market显示文摘Using a sample of 1674 international students in China,the present study explores sociocultural adaptation and its determinants.The results indicate that sociocultural adaptation among international students in China is largely shaped by the nature of the interaction with host nationals.In particular,among international students,those who experienced higher levels of social interaction with host nationals and received more social support were better poised for sociocultural adaptation.Rather contrary to similar research in the Western context,the study finds that international students from East Asia actually experienced more sociocultural difficulties in China than their counterparts from Western countries.These findings suggest the possibility of China and other oriental countries with sound higher education systems playing more active roles in the global higher education market. | Wen Wen Yan Luo Die Hu | 2014 | China & World Economy2014,22,6: | 5 |

| 3 | Effects of Piriformospora indica on the Respiration of Taxus chinensis var.mairei under Water Stress显示文摘Seedlings of Taxus chinensis var.mairei were used as experimental materials to study the adaptation of Piriformospora indica to this plant under water stress.The materials were divided into two groups,namely,with or without inoculation with P.indica.Each group was subjected to four different levels of water stress.Vitality and physiological and biochemical indexes of the roots of T.chinensis var.mairei were regularly measured.Under water stress,T.chinensis var.mairei had significantly decreased root vitality;root vitality was higher in inoculated roots than in uninoculated roots.Under intense water stress,the inoculated roots had a higher soluble sugar content than the uninoculated roots.Under water stress,T.chinensis var.mairei experienced decreased activity of aerobic respiratory metabolic enzymes.The activity of anaerobic respiratory metabolic enzymes and alcohol dehydrogenase initially increased and then decreased,whereas that of lactate dehydrogenase increased.The inoculated roots had a higher activity of respiratory metabolic enzymes than the uninoculated roots.As water stress was further intensified,the roots had significantly decreased activity of aerobic respiratory metabolic enzymes and significantly increased activity of anaerobic respiratory metabolic enzymes.The activity of respiratory metabolic enzymes decreased faster in the uninoculated roots than in the inoculated roots.This study demonstrated that Piriformospora indica plays a positive role in enhancing the antihypoxic ability of T.chinensis var.mairei,thereby alleviating plant damage due to water stress. | Longsheng Hu Xinru He Pujie Wei Bing Sun Yongjun Fei Die Hu | 2021 | Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,6: | 2 |

| 5 | Long-term daily dataset of surface sensible heat flux and latent heat release over the Tibetan Plateau based on routine meteorological observations显示文摘As the main components of the atmospheric heat source/sink over the Tibetan Plateau(TP),up-to-date spatiotemporal fields of surface sensible heat flux and latent heat release by precipitation are vital for investigating the local land-atmosphere interaction and the effect of the thermal forcing of the TP on global weather and climate.This study recalculates the long-term daily dataset of surface sensible heat flux and latent heat release of condensation over the TP based on 293 routine meteorological observations,with the latest date being 31 December 2019.Most stations have adequate and valid records during the period 1981-2019,and the results for 1951-1980 are also calculated if the observations are available.Moreover,a brief evaluation of the climatology and long-term variation during 1981-2019 is conducted.By providing the most continuous and longest set of observational surface sensible heat flux and latent heat release of condensation data over the TP with a high degree of credibility,this new dataset will support research concerning the multi-timescale variation of diabatic heating/cooling over the TP and its remote influence.It is openly available on the LASG data-sharing platform(http://data.lasg.ac.cn/TPSHLH/). | Anmin Duan Senfeng Liu Wenting Hu Die Hu Yuzhuo Peng | 2022 | Big Earth Data2022,6,4: | 2 |
| 6 | Exercise induces tissue hypoxia and HIF-1α redistribution in the small intestine显示文摘Background'. Exercise induces blood flow redistribution among tissues, leading to splanchnic hypoperfusion. Intestinal epithelial cells are positionedbetween the anaerobic lumen and the highly metabolic lamina propria with an oxygen gradient. Hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF)-la is piv・otal in the transcriptional response to the oxygen flux.Methods: In this study, the pimonidazole hydrochloride staining was applied to observe the tissue hypoxia in different organs, which might beaffected by the blood flow redistribution. The HIF-la luciferase reporter ROSA26 oxygen-dependent degradation domain (ODD)-Luc/+ mousemodel (ODD domain-Luc;female, n = 3—6/group) was used to detect the HIF-la expression in the intestine. We used 3 swimming models: mod・erate exercise for 30 min, heavy-intensity exercise bearing 5% bodyweight for 1.5 h, and long-time exercise for 3 h.Results'. We found that 1 session of swimming at different intensities could induce tissue hypoxia redistribution in the small intestine, colon, liverand kidney, but not in the spleen, heart, and skeletal muscle. Our data showed that exercise exacerbated the extent of physiological hypoxia in thesmall intestine. Next, using ODD-Luc mice, we found that moderate exercise increased the in vivo HIF-la level in the small intestine. The post・exercise HIF-la level was gradually decreased in a time-dependent manner. Interestingly, the redistribution of tissue hypoxia and the increase ofHIF-la expression were not related to the exercise intensity and duration.Conclusion'. | 7 | Effect of Xiaochuanping powder on the inflammatory response and airway remodeling in asthmatic rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of Xiaochuanping powder(XP), a traditional Chinese prescription for the treatment of cough and asthma, on serum concentrations of eosinophil cationic protein(ECP), tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-α, and interleukin(IL)-4, eosinophil counts, as well as expression of matrix metalloproteinase(MMP)-9, tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase(TIMP)-1 in the lung tissues of asthmatic rats.METHODS: Sixty clean-grade Sprague-Dawley rats were divided randomly into six groups: normal control(NC), asthma model, Guilong Kechuanning(GK)group, as well as high-, intermediate-, and lowdose XP groups. Rats were sensitized with ovalbumin(OVA) to trigger asthma. Serum concentrations of ECP, TNF-α and IL-4, eosinophil counts, as well as expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in lung tissues were evaluated using an immunofluorescence method. m RNA expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 was determined using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction.RESULTS: Compared with the asthma-model group, serum concentrations of ECP, TNF-α, and IL-4, and eosinophil counts decreased significantly in the high-and intermediate-dose XP groups and GK group(all P < 0.01). Protein expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 decreased significantly in the high-and intermediate-dose XP groups and GK group(all P < 0.01). Transcription of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 m RNA and the ratio of expression of MMP-9: TIMP-1 in lung tissue were significantly lower(P < 0.01).CONCLUSION: XP can reduce TNF-α secretion, suppress the infiltration/activation of eosinophils, reduce serum concentrations of ECP and IL-4, reduce the protein and m RNA expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 in lung tissue, and regulate the balance between expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1. | 17 | Quantitative Determination of Glymphatic Flow Using Spectrophotofluorometry显示文摘Following intrathecal injection of fluorescent tracers,ex vivo imaging of brain vibratome slices has been widely used to study the glymphatic system in the rodent brain.Tracer penetration into the brain is usually quantified by image-processing,even though this approach requires much time and manual operation.Here,we illustrate a simple protocol for the quantitative determination of glymphatic activity using spectrophotofluorometry.At specific time-points following intracisternal or intrastriatal injection of fluorescent tracers,certain brain regions and the spinal cord were harvested and tracers were extracted from the tissue.The intensity of tracers was analyzed spectrophotometrically and their concentrations were quantified from standard curves.Using this approach,the regional and dynamic delivery of subarachnoid CSF tracers into the brain parenchyma was assessed,and the clearance of tracers from the brain was also determined.Furthermore,the impairment of glymphatic influx in the brains of old mice was confirmed using our approach.Our method is more accurate and efficient than the imaging approach in terms of the quantitative determination of glymphatic activity,and this will be useful in preclinical studies. | Yu Zhang Jian Song Xu-Zhong He Jian Xiong Rong Xue Jia-Hao Ge Shi-Yu Lu Die Hu Guo-Xing Zhang Guang-Yin Xu Lin-Hui Wang | 2020 | Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,12: | 1 |
