| 1 | Origin of Tafoni in the Late Cretaceous Aeolian Sandstones,Danxiashan UNESCO Global Geopark,South China显示文摘Tafoni occur generally in granular rocks around the world, but their origin remains controversial. In this study,the roles of lithology, micro–climate, and organism in tafoni development are investigated in the Danxiashan UNESCO Global Geopark of South China. The Jinshiyan Temple and Luyitang sites along the Jinjiang River are chosen to conduct tafoni morphometry, bedrock petrography, and micro–climate analyses. The research methods used in this study include field observations and measurements, Voronoi diagrams, polarizing microscopic and scanning electron microscopic(SEM)image analysis, and meteorological detection. The tafoni are mostly 2–10 cm in length and elliptical in shape. The Late Cretaceous Jinshiyan sandstones are characterized by a grain–to–grain contact fabric and moderate sorting with a high proportion of soluble grains and cements. The Voronoi diagrams developed through the Arc GIS software are largely consistent with the tafoni openings. Moreover, owing to exposure to solar insolation, the external temperature values are higher than the internal ones, while the external relative humidity values are lower than the internal ones. Therefore, the permeable Jinshiyan sandstones are fundamental for tafoni development, while the abundant moisture from the Jinjiang River and frequent rains is favorable for salt weathering in tandem with biological activities. | 2 | β-Ga_2O_3 thin film grown on sapphire substrate by plasmaassisted molecular beam epitaxy显示文摘Monoclinic gallium oxide(Ga_2O_3) has been grown on(0001) sapphire(Al_2O_3) substrate by plasma-assisted molecular beam epitaxy(PA-MBE). The epitaxial relationship has been confirmed to be [010]( 2ˉ01) β-Ga_2O_3||[ 011ˉ0](0001)Al_2O_3 via in-situ reflection high energy electron diffraction(RHEED) monitoring and ex-situ X-ray diffraction(XRD) measurement. Crystalline quality is improved and surface becomes flatter with increasing growth temperature, with a best full width at half maximum(FWHM) of XRD ω-rocking curve of( 2ˉ01) plane and root mean square(RMS) roughness of 0.68° and 2.04 nm for the sample grown at 730 °C,respectively. | 5 | Interaction of methionine sulfoxide reductase B5 with SlMYC2 stimulates the transcription of MeJA-mediated autophagy-related genes in tomato fruit显示文摘Methyl jasmonate(MeJA)has been shown to induce autophagy in various plant stress responses and metabolic pathways.MYC2 is involved in MeJA-mediated postharvest fruit biological metabolism,but it is unclear how it affects MeJA-induced fruit autophagy.In this study,we noticed that silencing SlMYC2 significantly reduced the increase in autophagy-related genes(SlATGs)expression induced by MeJA.SlMYC2 could also bind to the promoters of several SlATGs,including SlATG13a,SlATG13b,SlATG18a,and SlATG18h,and activate their transcript levels.Moreover,SlMsrB5,a methionine sulfoxide reductase,could interact with SlMYC2.Methionine oxidation in SlMYC2 and mimicking sulfoxidation in SlMYC2 by mutation of methionine-542 to glutamine reduced the DNA-binding ability and transcriptional activity of SlMYC2,respectively.SlMsrB5 partially repaired oxidized SlMYC2 and restored its DNA-binding ability.On the other hand,silencing SlMsrB5 inhibited the transcript levels of SlMYC2-targeted genes(SlATG13a,SlATG13b,SlATG18a,and SlATG18h).Similarly,dual-luciferase reporter(DLR)analysis revealed that SlMsrB5–SlMYC2 interaction significantly increased the ability of SlMYC2-mediated transcriptional activation of SlATG13a,SlATG13b,SlATG18a,and SlATG18h.These findings demonstrate that SlMsrB5-mediated cyclic oxidation/reduction of methionine in SlMYC2 inf luences SlATGs expression.Collectively,these findings reveal the mechanism of SlMYC2 in SlATGs transcriptional regulation,providing insight into the mechanism of MeJA-mediated postharvest fruit quality regulation. | Dedong Min Fujun Li Maratab Ali Jiong Liu Xiaodong Fu Yanan Song Jun Ding Xiaoan Li Nana Ji Xinhua Zhang | 2023 | Horticulture Research2023,10,3: | 0 |
