2Microwave Exposure Impairs Synaptic Plasticity in the Rat Hippocampus and PC12 Cells through Over-activation of the NMDA Receptor Signaling Pathway显示文摘Objective The aim of this study is to investigate whether microwave exposure would affect the N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor(NMDAR) signaling pathway to establish whether this plays a role in synaptic plasticity impairment. Methods 48 male Wistar rats were exposed to 30 m W/cm2 microwave for 10 min every other day for three times. Hippocampal structure was observed through H&E staining and transmission electron microscope. PC12 cells were exposed to 30 m W/cm2 microwave for 5 min and the synapse morphology was visualized with scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscope. The release of amino acid neurotransmitters and calcium influx were detected. The expressions of several key NMDAR signaling molecules were evaluated. Results Microwave exposure caused injury in rat hippocampal structure and PC12 cells, especially the structure and quantity of synapses. The ratio of glutamic acid and gamma-aminobutyric acid neurotransmitters was increased and the intracellular calcium level was elevated in PC12 cells. A significant change in NMDAR subunits(NR1, NR2 A, and NR2B) and related signaling molecules(Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent kinase II gamma and phosphorylated c AMP-response element binding protein) were examined. Conclusion 30 m W/cm2 microwave exposure resulted in alterations of synaptic structure, amino acid neurotransmitter release and calcium influx. 4Three-dimensional Culture of Human Airway Epithelium in Matrigel for Evaluation of Human Rhinovirus C and Bocavirus Infections显示文摘Objective Newly identified human rhinovirus C(HRV-C) and human bocavirus(HBoV) cannot propagate in vitro in traditional cell culture models; thus obtaining knowledge about these viruses and developing related vaccines are difficult. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a novel platform for the propagation of these types of viruses. Methods A platform for culturing human airway epithelia in a three-dimensional(3 D) pattern using Matrigel as scaffold was developed. The features of 3 D culture were identified by immunochemical staining and transmission electron microscopy. Nucleic acid levels of HRV-C and HBoV in 3 D cells at designated time points were quantitated by real-time polymerase chain reaction(PCR). Levels of cytokines, whose secretion was induced by the viruses, were measured by ELISA. Results Properties of bronchial-like tissues, such as the expression of biomarkers CK5, ZO-1, and PCK, and the development of cilium-like protuberances indicative of the human respiration tract, were observed in 3 D-cultured human airway epithelial(HAE) cultures, but not in monolayer-cultured cells. Nucleic acid levels of HRV-C and HBoV and levels of virus-induced cytokines were also measured using the 3 D culture system. 6Characterization of Avian Influenza A(H7N9) Virus Prevalence in Humans and Poultry in Huai′an,China:Molecular Epidemiology,Phylogenetic,and Dynamics Analyses显示文摘Objective To trace the source of human H7N9 cases in Huai'an and elucidate the genetic characterization of Huai'an strains associated with both humans and birds in live poultry market.Methods An enhanced surveillance was implemented when the first human H7N9 case was confirmed in Huai'an.Clinical specimens,cloacal swabs,and fecal samples were collected and screened by real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) for H7N9 virus.The positive samples were subjected to further RT-PCR and genome sequencing.The phylodynamic patterns of H7N9 virus within and separated from Huai'an and evolutionary dynamics of the virus were analyzed.Results Six patients with H7N9 infection were previously exposed to live poultry market and presented symptoms such as fever(>38.0 °C) and headaches.Results of this study support the hypothesis that live poultry markets were the source of human H7N9 exposure.Phylogenetic analysis revealed that all novel H7N9 viruses,including Huai'an strains,could be classified into two distinct clades,A and B.Additionally,the diversified H7N9 virus circulated in live poultry markets in Huai'an.Interestingly,the common ancestors of the Huai'an H7N9 virus existed in January 2012.The mean nucleotide substitution rates for each gene segment of the H7N9 virus were(3.09-7.26)×10-3 substitutions/site per year(95% HPD:1.72×10-3 to 1.16×10-2).Conclusion Overall,the source of exposure of human H7N9 cases in Huai'an was live poultry market,and our study highlights the presence of divergent genetic lineage of H7N9 virus in both humans and poultry specimens in Huai'an.YANG Peng Fei YAN Qing Li LIU Chun Cheng XING Ya Dong ZHANG Min Hui GAO Qiang YU Hao YAO Hai Bo HE Nan Jiang 2016Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2016,29,10:3

8Spectrally multiplexed and bright entangled photon pairs in a lithium niobate microresonator显示文摘On-chip bright quantum sources with multiplexing ability are extremely high in demand for integrated quantum networks with unprecedented scalability and complexity.Here,we demonstrate a bright and broadband biphoton quantum source with spectral multiplexing generated in a lithium niobate microresonator system.Without introducing the conventional domain poling,the on-chip microdisk produces photon pairs covering a broad bandwidth promised by natural phase matching in spontaneous parametric down conversion.Experimentally,the multiplexed photon pairs are characterized by 30 nm bandwidth limited by the filtering system,providing over 40 multiplexing channels with a 0.8 nm channel spacing.Meanwhile,the generation rate reaches 5.13 MHz/μW with a coincidence-to-accidental ratio up to 804,and the quantum source manifests a high purity with a heralded single photon correlation g^((2))_(H)(0)=0.0098±0.0021.Furthermore,the energy-time entanglement is demonstrated with an excellent interference visibility of 96.5%±2%.Such a quantum source at the telecommunication band paves the way for high-dimensional entanglement and future integrated quantum information systems.Bo-Yu Xu Li-Kun Chen Jin-Tian Lin Lan-Tian Feng Rui Niu Zhi-Yuan Zhou Ren-Hong Gao Chun-Hua Dong Guang-Can Guo Qi-Huang Gong Ya Cheng Yun-Feng Xiao Xi-Feng Ren 2022Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2022,65,9:2

11Highly efficient synthesis and application of aryl diazonium salts via femtosecond laser-tailored 3D flow microfluidic chips显示文摘The first example of the microfluidic chips(MFCs) consisting of centimeter-level 3D channels with highdensity and large-volume fabricated by femtosecond laser micromachining were utilized to develop a time-saving, economical and hazardless flow synthesis process, and its advantages have been proved by in situ formation of aryldiazonium salts and subsequent borylation with bis(pinacolato)diboron. There are several important advantages in our 3D MFC-based flow synthesis technology, including the following:(1) the reaction temperature was altered from ice bath to room temperature;(2) the residence time was reduced by 10 times;(3) the yield was greatly improved, that is, several arylboronates were successfully obtained with higher yield compared to traditional batch process. 13Soliton formation and spectral translation into visible on CMOS-compatible 4H-silicon-carbide-oninsulator platform显示文摘Recent advancements in integrated soliton microcombs open the route to a wide range of chip-based communication,sensing,and metrology applications.The technology translation from laboratory demonstrations to real-world applications requires the fabrication process of photonics chips to be fully CMOS-compatible,such that the manufacturing can take advantage of the ongoing evolution of semiconductor technology at reduced cost and with high volume.Silicon nitride has become the leading CMOS platform for integrated soliton devices,however,it is an insulator and lacks intrinsic second-order nonlinearity for electro-optic modulation.Other materials have emerged such as AlN,LiNbO_(3),AlGaAs and GaP that exhibit simultaneous second-and third-order nonlinearities.Here,we show that silicon carbide(SiC)--already commercially deployed in nearly ubiquitous electrical power devices such as RF electronics,MOSFET,and MEMS due to its wide bandgap properties,excellent mechanical properties,piezoelectricity and chemical inertia--is a new competitive CMOS-compatible platform for nonlinear photonics.High-quality-factor microresonators(Q=4×10^(6))are fabricated on 4H-SiC-on-insulator thin films,where a single soliton microcomb is generated.In addition,we observe wide spectral translation of chaotic microcombs from near-infrared to visible due to the second-order nonlinearity of SiC.Our work highlights the prospects of SiC for future low-loss integrated nonlinear and quantum photonics that could harness electro-opto-mechanical interactions on a monolithic platform.Chengli Wang Jin Li Ailun Yi Zhiwei Fang Liping Zhou Zhe Wang Rui Niu Yang Chen Jiaxiang Zhang Ya Cheng Junqiu Liu Chun-Hua Dong Xin Ou 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,12:1

18Effects of Nb Addition on Charpy Impact Properties of TiVTa Refractory High‑Entropy Alloy显示文摘In the present study,the effects of Nb addition on Charpy impact properties of TiVTa refractory high-entropy alloy with high strength-ductility trade-off were systematically studied by using the instrumented Charpy impact testing machine.The experimental results showed that the impact toughness was remarkably improved by Nb addition in TiVTa to form TiVTaNb alloy.The crack initiation energy and propagation energy of TiVTaNb were 67.3%and 24.9%higher than that of TiVTa,indicating that Nb addition simultaneously reinforced the resistance to crack initiation and propagation.The impact fracture of TiVTaNb exhibited larger bending degree of shear lips,deeper dimples and more secondary cracks which effectively dissipated more impact energy.The deformation mechanism of TiVTa alloy was dominated by dislocation activities.While in TiVTaNb,the deformation mechanism was synergized by dislocation activities and deformation twinning,which were the main contributors for the improved impact properties and the stronger crack resistance of TiVTaNb alloy under impact loading.Xue Yin Yan‑Kun Dou Xin‑Fu He Ke Jin Cheng‑Long Wang Ya‑Guang Dong Cun‑Yong Wang Yun‑Fei Xue Wen Yang 2023Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2023,36,3:0
