ENPP1/PC-1 Gene K121Q Polymorphism Is Associated with Obesity in European Adult Populations: Evidence from A Meta-Analysis Involving 24 324 Subjects显示文摘Objective Findings from the previous studies have suggested a relationship between ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase /phosphodiesterase 1 (ENPP‐1) or plasma cell membrane glycoprotein 1 (PC‐1) gene single nucleotide polymorphism (K121Q, rs1044498) and genetic susceptibility to obesity. However, such relationship is not reproduced by some currently available studies. In this context, the present study is aimed to quantitatively analyze the association of K121Q variant with obesity in all published case‐control studies in European adult populations. Methods Published literature from PubMed, EMBASE, and ISI web of science databases were retrieved. The studies evaluating the association of ENPP1/PC1 gene K121Q polymorphism with obesity were included, in which sufficient data were presented to calculate the odds ratio (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs). Results Ten case‐control studies meeting the inclusion criteria identified a total of 24,324 subjects including 11,372 obese and 12,952 control subjects. The meta‐analysis results showed a statistically significant association of K121Q with obesity [OR (95%CI): 1.25 (1.04‐1.52) P=0.021] under a recessive model of inheritance (QQ vs. KK+KQ) without heterogeneity or publication bias. Conclusions The results from the present study have indicated that ENPP1/PC1 Q121 variant may increase the risk of obesity and that more well‐designed studies based on a larger population will be required to further evaluate the role of ENPP1/PC1 gene K121Q polymorphism in obesity and other related metabolic syndromes. | WANG RuoQi ZHOU DongHao XI Bo GE XiuShan ZHU Ping WANG Bo ZHOU MingAi HUANG YuBei LIU JunTing YU Yang WANG ChunYu | 2011 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2011,24,2: | 4
Clinical factors associated with composition of lung microbiota and important taxa predicting clinical prognosis in patients with severe community-acquired pneumonia显示文摘Few studies have described the key features and prognostic roles of lung microbiota in patients with severe community-acquired pneumonia(SCAP).We prospectively enrolled consecutive SCAP patients admitted to ICU.Bronchoscopy was performed at bedside within 48 h of ICU admission, and 16S rRNA gene sequencing was applied to the collected bronchoalveolar lavage fluid. The primary outcome was clinical improvements defined as a decrease of 2 categories and above on a 7-category ordinal scale within 14 days following bronchoscopy.Sixty-seven patients were included.Multivariable permutational multivariate analysis of variance found that positive bacteria lab test results had the strongest independent association with lung microbiota(R2=0.033;P=0.018),followed by acute kidney injury(AKI;R2=0.032;P=0.011)and plasma MIP-1βlevel(R2=0.027;P=0.044).Random forest identified that the families Prevotellaceae,Moraxellaceae, and Staphylococcaceae were the biomarkers related to the positive bacteria lab test results.Multivariable Cox regression showed that the increase inα-diversity and the abundance of the families Prevotellaceae and Actinomycetaceae were associated with clinical improvements. The positive bacteria lab test results,AKI,and plasma MIP-1βlevel were associated with patients’lung microbiota composition on ICU admission. The families Prevotellaceae and Actinomycetaceae on admission predicted clinical improvements. | Sisi Du Xiaojing Wu Binbin Li Yimin Wang Lianhan Shang Xu Huang Yudi Xia Donghao Yu Naicong Lu Zhibo Liu Chunlei Wang Xinmeng Liu Zhujia Xiong Xiaohui Zou Binghuai Lu Yingmei Liu Qingyuan Zhan Bin Cao | 2022 | Frontiers of Medicine2022,16,3: | 2
The Tianlai Cylinder Pathfinder array: System functions and basic performance analysis显示文摘The Tianlai Cylinder Pathfinder is a radio interferometer array designed to test techniques for 21 cm intensity mapping in the post-reionization Universe, with the ultimate aim of mapping the large scale structure and measuring cosmological parameters such as the dark energy equation of state. Each of its three parallel cylinder reflectors is oriented in the north-south direction, and the array has a large field of view.As the Earth rotates, the northern sky is observed by drift scanning. The array is located in Hongliuxia,a radio-quiet site in Xinjiang, and saw its first light in September 2016.In this first data analysis paper for the Tianlai cylinder array,we discuss the sub-system qualification tests, and present basic system performance obtained from preliminary analysis of the commissioning observations during 2016-2018.We show typical interferometric visibility data, from which we derive the actual beam profile in the east-west direction and the frequency band-pass response. We describe also the calibration process to determine the complex gains for the array elements, either using bright astronomical point sources,or an artificial on site calibrator source, and discuss the instrument response stability, crucial for transit interferometry.Based on this analysis,we find a system temperature of about 90 K,and we also estimate the sensitivity of the array. | JiXia Li ShiFan Zuo FengQuan Wu YouGang Wang JuYong Zhang ShiJie Sun YiDong Xu ZiJie Yu Reza Ansari YiChao Li Albert Stebbins Peter Timbie YanPing Cong JingChao Geng Jie Hao QiZhi Huang JianBin Li Rui Li DongHao Liu YingFeng Liu Tao Liu John PMarriner ChenHui Niu Ue-Li Pen Jeffery BPeterson HuLi Shi Lin Shu YaFang Song HaiJun Tian GuiSong Wang QunXiong Wang RongLi Wang WeiXia Wang Xin Wang KaiFeng Yu Jiao Zhang BoQin Zhu JiaLu Zhu XueLei Chen | 2020 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2020,63,12: | 0
Identifying the potential transcriptional regulatory network in Hirschsprung disease by integrated analysis of microarray datasets显示文摘Objective Hirschsprung disease(HSCR)is one of the common neurocristopathies in children, which is associated with at least 20 genes and involves a complex regulatory mechanism.Transcriptional regulatory network(TRN)has been commonly reported in regulating gene expression and enteric nervous system development but remains to be investigated in HSCR.This study aimed to identify the potential TRN implicated in the pathogenesis and diagnosis of HSCR.Methods Based on three microarray datasets from the Gene Expression Omnibus database, the multiMiR package was used to investigate the microRNA(miRNA)-target interactions, followed by Gene Ontology(GO)and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)enrichment analyses. Then,we collected transcription factors(TFs)from the TransmiR database to construct the TF-miRNA-mRNA regulatory network and used cytoHubba to identify the key modules. Finally, the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was determined and the integrated diagnostic models were established based on machine learning by the support vector machine method. Results We identified 58 hub differentially expressed microRNAs(DEMis)and 16 differentially expressed mRNAs(DEMs).The robust target genes of DEMis and DEMs mainly enriched in several GO/KEGG terms, including neurogenesis,cell-substrate adhesion,PI3K-Akt,Ras/mitogen-activated protein kinase and Rho/ROCK signaling.Moreover,2 TFs(TP53and TWIST1),4 miRNAs(has-miR-107,has-miR-10b-5p,has-miR-659-3p,and has-miR-371a-5p),and 4 mRNAs(PIM3,CHUK,F2RL1,and CA1)were identified to construct the TF-miRNA-mRNA regulatory network.ROC analysis revealed a strong diagnostic value of the key TRN regulons(all area under the curve values were more than 0.8).Conclusion This study suggests a potential role of the TF-miRNA-mRNA network that can help enrich the connotation of HSCR pathogenesis and diagnosis and provide new horizons for treatment. | Wenyao Xu Hui Yu Dian Chen Weikang Pan Weili Yang Jing Miao Wanying Jia Baijun Zheng Yong Liu Xinlin Chen Ya Gao Donghao Tian | 2023 | World Journal of Pediatric Surgery2023,6,2: | 0
Shape-dependence in seeded-growth of Pd-Cu solid solution from Pd nanostructure towards methanol oxidation electrocatalyst显示文摘Ultrathin Pd nanosheets(NSs)have great advantages in catalysis due to their large specific surface area and high percentage of under-coordinated atoms. However, the electrochemical performance still can be improved via composition-controllable growth of their solid solution.Herein, seeded alloying strategy was proposed to synthesize Pd-Cu solid solution from Pd NSs and Pd-Cu nanostructures with tunable molar ratios obtained by changing the amount of Cu precursor. As compared to the pristine Pd NSs,the Pd-Cu solid solution shows significantly enhanced methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)performance over those of Pd NSs and homemade Pd/C as the incorporation of Cu weakens the adsorption of CO intermediate on Pd in the MOR process. The choice of template is pivotal to the growth,as a shape-dependent behavior could be identified in the alloying of Cu with Pd nanosheets enclosed by{111}and{100}facets,Pd nanocubes enclosed by{100}facet,and Pd nano-tetrahedrons enclosed by{111}facet.The Pd-Cu solid solution with tunable composition can only be obtained from Pd NSs and the shape-dependent alloying process is mainly determined by the diffusion barrier and the minimum diffusion depth of the different facets. | Lianxi Si Hui Li Yu Zhang Donghao Zhang Xiaowei An Mengmeng Yao Yuanyuan Shao Jesse Zhu Shi Hu | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,7: | 0
Thermodynamically controllable synthesis of ZIF-8 exposing different facets and their applications in single atom catalytic oxygen reduction reactions显示文摘The development of thermodynamically controllable synthetic strategy to manipulate the morphology of ZIF-8 without capping agent is essential to help understanding their facet effect and the structure-activity relationship of single atom catalysts derived from ZIF-8.Here,we prepared ZIF-8 with different morphologies(cube, truncated rhombododecahedral and rhombododecahedral)and thus area ratio of exposed{100},{110}facets by a thermodynamically controllable synthetic strategy. When the reaction proceeds under room temperature(30℃),the assembling of ZIF-8 followed an area-reducing layered growth mode, while switched to an integral layered growth mode at lower temperature-40℃.Moreover,this strategy also works to obtain ZIF-8 encapsulated with metal precursors(Fe(acac)_(3),Cu(acac)_(2)and Co(acac)_(2)).Single Fe atom anchored on nitrogen doped carbon catalysts(SA-Fe/CN)derived from Fe-ZIF-8 retain their original morphologies and the unsaturated surface-active sites on{100}facet,which further displays different catalytic performance towards oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).This work not only reveals the different growth pattern of ZIF-8,but also points out a new direction for designing and synthesizing MOFs with different morphology rationally. | Runze Ma Qiheng Li Jun Yan Yu Tao Shouyao Hu Donghao Liu Jiaxin Gong Yu Xiong | 2023 | Nano Research2023,16,7: | 0
