1Humoral immune response to circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants elicited by inactivated and RBD-subunit vaccines显示文摘SARS-CoV-2 variants could induce immune escape by mutations on the receptor-binding domain(RBD)and N-terminal domain(NTD).Here we report the humoral immune response to circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants,such as 501Y.V2(B.1.351),of the plasma and neutralizing antibodies(NAbs)elicited by CoronaVac(inactivated vaccine),ZF2001(RBD-subunit vaccine)and natural infection.Among 86 potent NAbs identified by high-throughput single-cell VDJ sequencing of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from vaccinees and convalescents,near half anti-RBD NAbs showed major neutralization reductions against the K417N/E484K/N501Y mutation combination,with E484K being the dominant cause.VH3-53/VH3-66 recurrent antibodies respond differently to RBD variants,and K417N compromises the majority of neutralizing activity through reduced polar contacts with complementarity determining regions.In contrast,the 242–244 deletion(242–244Δ)would abolish most neutralization activity of anti-NTD NAbs by interrupting the conformation of NTD antigenic supersite,indicating a much less diversity of anti-NTD NAbs than anti-RBD NAbs.Plasma of convalescents and CoronaVac vaccinees displayed comparable neutralization reductions against pseudo-and authentic 501Y.V2 variants,mainly caused by E484K/N501Y and 242–244Δ,with the effects being additive.Importantly,RBD-subunit vaccinees exhibit markedly higher tolerance to 501Y.V2 than convalescents,since the elicited anti-RBD NAbs display a high diversity and are unaffected by NTD mutations.Moreover,an extended gap between the third and second doses of ZF2001 leads to better neutralizing activity and tolerance to 501Y.V2 than the standard three-dose administration.Together,these results suggest that the deployment of RBD-vaccines,through a third-dose boost,may be ideal for combating SARS-CoV-2 variants when necessary,especially for those carrying mutations that disrupt the NTD supersite.Yunlong Cao Ayijiang Yisimayi Yali Bai Weijin Huang Xiaofeng Li Zhiying Zhang Tianjiao Yuan Ran An Jing Wang Tianhe Xiao Shuo Du Wenping Ma Liyang Song Yongzheng Li Xiang Li Weiliang Song Jiajing Wu Shuo Liu Xuemei Li Yonghong Zhang Bin Su Xianghua Guo Yangyang Wei Chuanping Gao Nana Zhang Yifei Zhang Yang Dou Xiaoyu Xu Rui Shi Bai Lu Ronghua Jin Yingmin Ma Chengfeng Qin Youchun Wang Yingmei Feng Junyu Xiao Xiaoliang Sunney Xie 2021Cell Research2021,31,7:12
2A Brief Introduction to BNU-HESM1.0 and Its Earth Surface Temperature Simulations显示文摘Integrated assessment models and coupled earth system models both have their limitations in understanding the interactions between human activity and the physical earth system. In this paper,a new human–earth system model,BNUHESM1.0,constructed by combining the economic and climate damage components of the Dynamic Integrated Model of Climate Change and Economy to the BNU-ESM model,is introduced. The ability of BNU-HESM1.0 in simulating the global CO2 concentration and surface temperature is also evaluated. We find that,compared to observation,BNU-HESM1.0underestimates the global CO2 concentration and its rising trend during 1965–2005,due to the uncertainty in the economic components. However,the surface temperature simulated by BNU-HESM1.0 is much closer to observation,resulting from the overestimates of surface temperature by the original BNU-ESM model. The uncertainty of BNU-ESM falls within the range of present earth system uncertainty,so it is the economic and climate damage component of BNU-HESM1.0 that needs to be improved through further study. However,the main purpose of this paper is to introduce a new approach to investigate the complex relationship between human activity and the earth system. 4Influence of the carbon cycle on the attribution of responsibility for climate change显示文摘The carbon cycle is one of the fundamental climate change issues.Its long-term evolution largely affects the amplitude and trend of human-induced climate change,as well as the formulation and implementation of emission reduction policy and technology for stabilizing the atmospheric CO2concentration.Two earth system models incorporating the global carbon cycle,the Community Earth System Model and the Beijing Normal University-Earth System Model,were used to investigate the effect of the carbon cycle on the attribution of the historical responsibility for climate change.The simulations show that when compared with the criterion based on cumulative emissions,the developed(developing)countries’responsibility is reduced(increased)by 6%–10%using atmospheric CO2concentration as the criterion.This discrepancy is attributed to the fact that the developed world contributed approximately61%–68%(61%–64%)to the change in global oceanic(terrestrial)carbon sequestration for the period from 1850 to2005,whereas the developing world contributed approximately 32%–49%(36%–39%).Under a developed world emissions scenario,the relatively larger uptake of global carbon sinks reduced the developed countries’responsibility for carbon emissions but increased their responsibility for global ocean acidification(68%).In addition,the large emissions from the developed world reduced the efficiency of the global carbon sinks,which may affect the long-term carbon sequestration and exacerbate global warming in the future.Therefore,it is necessary to further consider the interaction between carbon emissions and the carbon cycle when formulating emission reduction policy.Ting Wei Wenjie Dong Wenping Yuan Xiaodong Yan Yan Guo 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,19:6
5Nonselective etching of GaN/AlGaN heterostructures by Cl2/Ar/BCl3 inductively coupled plasmas显示文摘A systematic study of the nonselective and smooth etching of GaN/AIGaN het-erostructures was performed using C12/Ar/BCI3 inductively coupled plasmas (ICR).Nonselective etching can be realized by adjusting the BCI3 ratio in the Cl2/Ar/BCI3 mixture (20%—60%), increasing the ICR power and dc bias, and decreasing the chamber pressure. Surface morphology of the etched heterostructures strongly depends on the gas chemistry and the chamber pressure. Specifically, with the addition of 20% BCI3 to Cl2/Ar (4:1) gas mixture, nonselective etching of GaN/Al0.28Ga0.72N heterostructures at high etch rate is maintained and the surface root-mean-square (rms) roughness is reduced from 10.622 to 0.495 nm, which is smoother than the as-grown sample. 6Tandem catalysis in electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reaction显示文摘Electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR)is an attractive pathway for closing the anthropogenic carbon cycle and storing intermittent renewable energy by converting CO_(2) to valuable chemicals and fuels.The production of highly reduced carbon compounds beyond CO and formate,such as hydrocarbon and oxygenate products with higher energy density,is particularly desirable for practical applications.However,the productivity towards highly reduced chemicals is typically limited by high overpotential and poor selectivity due to the multiple electron-proton transfer steps.Tandem catalysis,which is extensively utilized by nature for producing biological macromolecules with multiple enzymes via coupled reaction steps,represents a promising strategy for enhancing the CO_(2)RR performance.Improving the efficiency of CO_(2)RR via tandem catalysis has recently emerged as an exciting research frontier and achieved significant advances.Here we describe the general principles and also considerations for designing tandem catalysis for CO_(2)RR.Recent advances in constructing tandem catalysts,mainly including bimetallic alloy nanostructures,bimetallic heterostructures,bimetallic core-shell nanostructures,bimetallic mixture catalysts,metal-metal organic framework(MOF)and metal-metallic complexes,metal-nonmetal hybrid nanomaterials and copper-free hybrid nanomaterials for boosting the CO_(2)RR performance are systematically summarized.The study of tandem catalysis for CO_(2)RR is still at the early stage,and future research challenges and opportunities are also discussed.Yating Zhu Xiaoya Cui Huiling Liu Zhenguo Guo Yanfeng Dang Zhanxi Fan Zhicheng Zhang Wenping Hu 2021Nano Research2021,14,12:5

8A Trial Study of Propranolol and Zhigancao Decoction on the Central Depressant and Anti-osteoporosic Action in Ovariectomized Rats显示文摘Objective: This study was originally designed to observe the effects of propranolol (a β-blocker) and Zhigancao Decoction (炙甘草汤 ZGCD) on bone mass in ovariectomized rats. Methods: Thirty-eight female Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups initially, a sham-operated group (Sham, n=7), a model ovariectomized (OVX) group (Model, n=7), a propranolol group (Pro, n=12) and a ZGCD group (ZGCD, n=12). After 15 weeks of treatment, the expected effects were not found. In order to verify the situations of the experiment, we modified the study by administering calcitonin to a subgroup of the tested Pro and ZGCD rats. Results: The Pro and ZGCD treatments showed decreased heart rate and plasma norepinephrine level, but neither an increased bone mass nor any bone metabolism differences from the model rats were found. However, the OVX-induced bone loss was prevented by the sequent treatment of calcitonin. 9Temporal and Spatial Variability of Dissolved Organic Carbon Concentration in the Xijiang River, South China显示文摘A whole year analysis of riverine dissolved organic carbon (DOC) concentrations in the Xijiang River (XJR), South China, showed that the mean riverine DOC concentration (1.24 mg L-1) in the XJR was notably lower than the averaged value (5.75 mg L-1) of the global riverine DOC concentration in several major rivers. There is an inconspicuous monthly fluctuation of the DOC signal in the XJR, but on a semi-yearly time scale, however, the riverine DOC concentration had significant difference between hydrological seasons. The DOC level during the flood season (1.18 mg L-1) was less than that during the non-flood season (1.40 mg L-1). Owing to the concomitance of the flushing and dilution effects of the runoff during the high-water period, the variation of riverine DOC concentration with discharge in the XJR differed from that reported in many other major rivers. The DOC export flux above the city of Wuzhou was about 0.62× 106 g C km-2 yr-1. The DOC transported during the '056' Massive Flood period comprised 30.35% of the annual total, while the discharge accounted for 36.32% of the total annual flow. 10Methane formation route in the conversion of methanol to hydrocarbons显示文摘The influence factors and paths of methane formation during methanol to hydrocarbons(MTH) reaction were studied experimentally and thermodynamically. The fixed-bed reaction results show that the formation of methane was favored by not only high temperature, but also high feed velocity, low pressure, as well as weak acid sites dominated on deactivated catalyst. The thermodynamic analysis results indicate that methane would be formed via the decomposition reactions of methanol and DME, and the hydrogenolysis reactions of methanol and DME. The decomposition reactions are thermal chemistry processes and easily occurred at high temperature. However, they are influenced by catalyst and reaction conditions through DME intermediate. By contrast, the hydrogenolysis reactions belong to catalytic processes. Parallel experiments suggest that, in real MTH reactions, the hydrogenolysis reactions should be mainly enabled by surface active H atom which might come from hydrogen transfer reactions such as aromatization. 11Ultrathin Ni_(x)Co_(y)-silicate nanosheets natively anchored on CNTs films for flexible lithium ion batteries显示文摘The rapid development of portable and wearable electronics has called for novel flexible electrodes with superior performance.The development of flexible electrode materials with excellent mechanical and electrochemical properties has become one of the key factors for this goal.Here,a Ni_(x)Co_(y)-silicate@CNTs film is developed as a flexible anode for lithium ion batteries(LIBs).On this film,Ni_(x)Co_(y)-silicate nanosheets are firmly and intimately anchored on the surface of CNTs,which have a 3D network structure and link the adjacent nanosheets together.Benefitted from this,the composite film is not only sufficient to withstand various deformations due to its excellent flexibility but also has excellent electrochemical properties,in terms of high reversible capacity of 1047 mAh g^(-1) at 0.1 A g^(-1) as well as a high rate and cycling performance(capacity retention up to 78.13% after 140 cycles).The pouch-type full flexible LIB using this material can stably operate under various bending conditions,showing the great potential of this 3 D Ni_(x)Co_(y)-silicate@CNTs film for flexible energy storage devices with high durability.Wenlei Guo Wenping Si Tao Zhang Yonghuan Han Lei Wang Ziyue Zhou Pengyi Lu Feng Hou Ji Liang 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,3:2
12Homeobox B8 Targets Sterile Alpha Motif Domain-Containing Protein 9 and Drives Glioma Progression显示文摘Gliomas are the most commonly occurring tumors of the central nervous system. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most malignant and aggressive brain cancer in adults. Further understanding of the mechanisms underlying the aggressive nature of GBM is urgently needed. Here we identified homeobox B8(HOXB8), a member of the homeobox family, as a crucial contributor to the aggressiveness of GBM. Data mining of publicly accessible RNA sequence datasets and our patient cohorts confirmed a higher expression of HOXB8 in the tumor tissue of GBM patients, and a strong positive correlation between the expression level and pathological grading of tumors and a negative correlation between the expression level and the overall survival rate. We next showed that HOXB8 promotes the proliferation and migration of glioblastoma cells and is crucial for the activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway and expression of epithelial–mesenchymal transition-related genes, possibly through direct binding to the promoter of SAMD9 (Sterile Alpha Motif Domain-Containing Protein 9) and activating its transcription. 13A flexible CNT@nickel silicate composite film for high-performance sodium storage显示文摘Due to the sufficient ion diffusion channels provided by the large interlayer spacing, layered silicates are widely considered as potential anode materials for lithium ion and sodium ion batteries. However, due to the poor electronic conductivity, the application of layered silicates for electrochemical energy storage has been greatly limited. Carbon nanotube(CNT) film has excellent electrical conductivity and a unique interconnected network, making it an ideal matrix for composite electrochemical material. We herein report a CNT@nickel silicate composite film(CNT@NiSiO) fabricated by a SiO2-mediated hydrothermal conversion process, for sodium storage with excellent electrochemical properties. The obtained composite possesses a cladding structure with homogeneous nanosheets as the outermost and CNT film as the inner network matrix, providing abundant ion diffusion channels, high electronic conductivity, and good mechanical flexibility. Due to these merits, this material possesses an excellent electrochemical performance for sodium storage, including a high specific capacity up to 390 mAh g-1 at 50 mA g-1, good rate performance up to 205 mAh g-1 at 500 mA g-1, and excellent cycling stability. 14Dual-modification of manganese oxide by heterostructure and cation pre-intercalation for high-rate and stable zinc-ion storage显示文摘Zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)possess great advantages in terms of high safety and low cost,and are regarded as promising alternatives to lithium-ion batteries(LIBs).However,limited by the electrochemical kinetics and structural stability of the typical cathode materials,it is still difficult to simultaneously achieve high rates and high cycling stability for ZIBs.Herein,we present a manganese oxide(Sn_(x)Mn O_(2)/Sn O_(2))material that is dual-modified by Sn O_(2)/Mn O_(2)heterostructures and pre-intercalated Sn;cations as the cathode material for ZIBs.Such modification provides sufficient hetero-interfaces and expanded interlayer spacing in the material,which greatly facilitates the insertion/extraction of Zn^(2+).Meanwhile,the“structural pillars”of Sn^(4+) cations and the“pinning effect”of SnO_(2)also structurally stabilizes the Mn O_(2)species during the repeated Zn^(2+) insertion/extraction,leading to ultra-high cycling stability.Due to these merits,the Sn_(x)MnO_(2)/SnO_(2)cathode exhibits a high reversible capacity of 316.1 m Ah g^(-1) at 0.3 A g^(-1),superior rate capability of 179.4 m Ah g^(-1) at 2 A g^(-1),and 92.4%capacity retention after 2000 cycles.Consequently,this work would provide a promising yet efficient strategy by combining heterostructures and cations preintercalation to obtain high-performance cathodes for ZIBs.Song Wang Weibing Ma Zhiyuan Sang Feng Hou Wenping Si Jingdong Guo Ji Liang De'an Yang 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,4:1

17Organophosphate esters in sediment from Taihu Lake,China:Bridging the gap between riverine sources and lake sinks显示文摘Surface sediment samples from Taihu Lake in China and its inflow rivers,along with two lake sediment core samples,were collected and analyzed for organophosphate esters(OPEs).The concentrations of total OPEs varied from 28.60 ng/g to 158.72 ng/g(median:54.25 ng/g)in river surface sediment and from 62.57 ng/g to 326.84 ng/g(median:86.37 ng/g)in lake sediment.Tributyl phosphate(TnBP)was the predominant compound in river surface sediment,and tris(2-butoxyethyl)phosphate was predominant in lake sediment.High contamination occurred in the north-west region,which was related to the high level of urbanization and high usage of OPEs.The sediment–water partition coefficients of OPEs(log_(Koc))were calculated,showing a significant correlation with logKow(p<0.05).The concentration and composition of OPEs in two sediment cores varied due to the different sampling locations,with more OPE species found in the northern region than in the southern one.Principal component analysis and positive matrix factorization indicated that sewage discharges,vehicle emissions,and atmospheric deposition were the possible sources of OPEs in Taihu Lake sediments.Tris(1-chloro-2-propyl)phosphate,tris(2-chloroethyl)phosphate,and TnBP were the main OPEs causing ecological risks.Wenping Zhang Changsheng Guo Jiapei Lv Xu Li Jian Xu 2022Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2022,16,3:1
