3Effectiveness of Different Waist Circumference Cut-off Values in Predicting Metabolic Syndrome Prevalence and Risk Factors in Adults in China显示文摘Objective To study the effectiveness of waist circumference cut-off values in predicting the prevalence of metabolic syndrome(MetS) and risk factors in adults in China. Methods A cross-sectional survey was condcuted in 14 provinces(autonomous region, municipality) in China. A total of 47 325 adults aged ≥20 years were selected by multistage stratified sampling, and questionnaire survey and physical and clinical examination were conducted among them. MetS was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation(IDF) criteria and modified IDF criteria.Results The age-standardized prevalence of MetS was 24.2%(22.1% in men and 25.8% in women) and 19.5%(22.1% in men and 18.0% in women) according to the IDF criteria and modified IDF criteria respectively. The age-standardized prevalence of pre-MetS was 8.1%(8.6% in men and 7.8% in women) according to the modified IDF criteria. The prevalence of MetS was higher in urban residents than rural residents and in northern China residents than in southern China residents. The prevalence of central obesity was about 30% in both men and women according to the ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference for central obesity(90 cm for men and 85 cm for women). Multivariate regression analysis revealed no significant difference in risk factors between the two MetS definitions. 6State-of-the-Art Review of High-Throughput Statistical Spatial-Mapping Characterization Technology and Its Applications显示文摘Macroscopic materials are heterogeneous,multi-elementary,and complex.No material is homogeneous or isotropic at a certain small scale.Parts of the material that differ from one another can be termed'natural chips.'At different spots on the material,the composition,structure,and properties vary slightly,and the combination of these slight differences establishes the overall material performance.This article presents a state-of-the-art review of research and applications of high-throughput statistical spatialmapping characterization technology based on the intrinsic heterogeneity within materials.Highthroughput statistical spatial-mapping uses a series of rapid characterization techniques for analysis from the macroscopic to the microscopic scale.Datasets of composition,structure,and properties at each location are obtained rapidly for practical sample sizes.Accurate positional coordinate information and references to a point-to-point correspondence are used to set up a database that contains spatialmapping lattices.Based on material research and development design requirements,dataset spatialmapping within required target intervals is selected from the database.Statistical analysis can be used to select a suitable design that better meets the targeted requirements.After repeated verification,genetic units that reflect the material properties are determined.By optimizing process parameters,the assembly of these genetic unit(s)is verified at the mesoscale,and quantitative correlations are established between the microscale,mesoscale,macroscale,practical sample,across-the-scale span composition,structure,and properties.The high-throughput statistical spatial-mapping characterization technology has been applied to numerous material systems,such as steels,superalloys,galvanization,and ferrosilicon alloys.This approach has guided the composition and the process optimization of various materials.Haizhou Wang Lei Zhao Yunhai Jia Dongling Li Lixi Yang Yuhua Lu Guang Feng Weihao Wan 2020Engineering2020,6,6:7
7Human adenovirus(HAdV)infection in children with acute respiratory tract infections in Guangzhou,China,2010–2021:a molecular epidemiology study显示文摘Background Human adenovirus(HAdV)infection can cause a variety of diseases.It is a major pathogen of pediatric acute respiratory tract infections(ARIs)and can be life-threatening in younger children.We described the epidemiology and subtypes shifting of HAdV among children with ARI in Guangzhou,China.Methods We conducted a retrospective study of 161,079 children diagnosed with acute respiratory illness at the Guangzhou Women and Children’s Medical Center between 2010 and 2021.HAdV specimens were detected by real-time PCR and the hexon gene was used for phylogenetic analysis.Results Before the COVID-19 outbreak in Guangzhou,the annual frequency of adenovirus infection detected during this period ranged from 3.92%to 13.58%,with an epidemic peak every four to fve years.HAdV demonstrated a clear seasonal distribution,with the lowest positivity in March and peaking during summer(July or August)every year.A signifcant increase in HAdV cases was recorded for 2018 and 2019,which coincided with a shift in the dominant HAdV subtype from HAdV-3 to HAdV-7.The latter was associated with a more severe disease compared to HAdV-3.The average mortality proportion for children infected with HAdV from 2016 to 2019 was 0.38%but increased to 20%in severe cases.After COVID-19 emerged,HAdV cases dropped to 2.68%,suggesting that non-pharmaceutical interventions probably reduced the transmission of HAdV in the community.Conclusion Our study provides the foundation for the understanding of the epidemiology of HAdV and its associated risks in children in Southern China.Yi Chen Tao Lin Chang‑Bing Wang Wan‑Li Liang Guang‑Wan Lian Mark Zanin Sook‑San Wong Xin‑Gui Tian Jia‑Yu Zhong Ying‑Ying Zhang Jia‑Hui Xie Ling‑Ling Zheng Fei‑Yan Chen Run Dang Ming‑Qi Zhao Yi‑Yu Yang Rong Zhou Bing Zhu 2022World Journal of Pediatrics2022,18,8:5
8The Benefit Risk Assessment of Consumption of Marine Species Based on Benefit-Risk Analysis for Foods(BRAFO)-tiered Approach显示文摘Objective To assess the net health effect caused by the consumption of specific marine species based on Benefit-Risk Analysis for Foods(BRAFO)-tiered approach. Methods Twenty species were collected from the Zhoushan Archipelago, China. Concentrations of n-3 long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids, methyl mercury(Me Hg), and dioxin-like compounds(DLCs) in the samples were analyzed for benefit risk assessment based on BRAFO-tiered approach. Results Based on the BRAFO-tiered approach, reference scenario(no intake) and alternative scenario(intake of specific species of 200 g/week) were determined. The exposure to Me Hg/DLCs via alternative scenario of all studied species did not exceed provisional tolerable weekly/monthly intake. However, the adult population with high DLCs exposure in China would significantly exceed the upper limit of DLCs via an additional alternative scenario of some species such as Auxis thazard. The results of deterministic computation showed that alternative scenario of all studied species generated clear net beneficial effects on death prevention and child IQ gain. 9Atomically Smooth Ultrathin Films of Topological Insulator Sb_(2)Te_(3)显示文摘The growth and characterization of single-crystalline thin films of topological insulators(TIs)is an important step towards their possible applications.Using in situ scanning tunneling microscopy(STM)and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy(ARPES),we show that moderately thick Sb_(2)Te_(3)films grown layer-by-layer by molecular beam epitaxy(MBE)on Si(111)are atomically smooth,single-crystalline,and intrinsically insulating.Furthermore,these films were found to exhibit a robust TI electronic structure with their Fermi energy lying within the energy gap of the bulk that intersects only the Dirac cone of the surface states.Depositing Cs in situ moves the Fermi energy of the Sb_(2)Te_(3)films without changing the electronic band structure,as predicted by theory.We found that the TI behavior is preserved in Sb_(2)Te_(3)films down to five quintuple layers(QLs).Guang Wang Xiegang Zhu Jing Wen Xi Chen Ke He Lili Wang Xucun Ma Ying Liu Xi Dai Zhong Fang Jinfeng Jia Qikun Xue 2010Nano Research2010,3,12:5

12Progress in bionic information processing techniques for an electronic nose based on olfactory models显示文摘As a novel bionic analytical technique, an electronic nose, inspired by the mechanism of the biological olfactory system and integrated with modern sensing technology, electronic technology and pattern recognition technology, has been widely used in many areas. Moreover, recent basic research findings in biological olfaction combined with computational neuroscience promote its development both in methodology and application. In this review, the basic information processing principle of biological olfaction and artificial olfaction are summarized and compared, and four olfactory models and their applications to electronic noses are presented. Finally, a chaotic olfactory neural network is detailed and the utilization of several biologically oriented learning rules and its spatiotemporal dynamic propties for electronic noses are discussed. The integration of various phenomena and their mechanisms for biological olfaction into an electronic nose context for information processing will not only make them more bionic, but also perform better than conventional methods. 13NIR Emission Nanoparticles Based on FRET Composed of AIE Luminogens and NIR Dyes for Two-photon Fluorescence Imaging显示文摘Near-infrared(NIR) nanoparticles(NPs) based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer(FRET) were prepared by coencapsulation of a red aggregation-induced emission(AIE) molecule, 2-(4-bromophenyl)-3-(4-(4-(diphenylamino)styryl)phenyl)fumaronitrile(TB), and a commercial NIR fluorescence dye, silicon 2,3-naphthalocyanine bis(trihexylsilyloxide)(NIR775) with an amphiphilic polymer poly(styrene-co-maleic anhydride)(PSMA). The surface of the NPs, PSMA@TB/NIR775, was modified with poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) to increase the in vivo biocompatibility of the NPs. The PSMA@TB/NIR775 NPs showed a strong NIR(780 nm) narrow emission and excellent two-photon absorption property. Moreover, the NPs exhibited good monodispersity, stability, and low cytotoxicity.Under the excitation of a 1040 nm femtosecond(fs) laser, the emission peaks at 680 nm of TB and 780 nm of NIR775 excited by FRET were obtained. We utilized PSMA@TB/NIR775 NPs as fluorescent contrast agents for two-photon excited NIR microscopic imaging, and good NIR imaging effect of mouse brain vasculature was obtained with the imaging depth of about 150 μm. 17Determination of levels of adenosine phosphates in blood by ion chromatography显示文摘A new method was developed for simultaneous determination of levels of AMP,ADP and ATP in blood by anion-exchange chromatography.The three adenosine phosphates were separated by Dionex IonPac AG18(50 mm×4 mm) guard column and IonPac AS 18(250 mm×4 mm) analytical column using a gradient method and detected with a suppressed conductivity detector. 18Low Phase Angle Predicts Poor Survival in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma:A Retrospective Study显示文摘Background The phase angle(PA)is an indicator of nutritional status derived from bioelectrical impedance analysis(BIA).Studies have shown that the PA is one of several factors related to the survival of cancer patients.However,the correlation between the PA and prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)has not been reported.This study aimed to explore the relationship between the PA,nutrition-related indicators,and patient prognosis.Methods The data from 248 HCC patients who underwent BIA between January 2015 and December 2019 at the First Hospital of Jilin University were retrospectively analyzed.Patients were divided into two groups according to the median PA value,then the nutrition-related indicators and overall survival(OS)were compared between the two groups.The correlations between the PA and laboratory test nutrition-related indicators and the results of a body composition analysis were determined using Pearson correlation analysis.Independent predictors of the patient prognosis were identified using univariate and multivariate analyses.Results The median OS in the high and low PA groups were 70 and 54.6 months,respectively(P=0.004).The Pearson correlation analysis revealed that the PA was associated with both laboratory test nutrition-related indicators and the results of a body composition analysis.The multivariable Cox regression analysis identified the PA as an independent risk factor affecting the prognosis of patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage A or B.Conclusion The PA is a good biomarker for the nutritional status.We found that the PA was associated with the prognosis in patients with HCC,with a low PA indicating a poor nutritional status and worse prognosis.Jin Yu Shi Guang Yang Bo Liu Xiao Shang Guo Zhen Cui Jia Xin Huang Wan Ting Wang Ke Yu Chen Nan Ya Wang 2022Journal of Nutritional Oncology2022,7,2:2
