1SHRIMP zircon U-Pb dating for volcanic rocks of the Dasi Formation in southeast Hubei Province,middle-lower reaches of the Yangtze River and its implications显示文摘The Jinniu Basin in southeast Hubei,located at the westernmost part of middle-lower val-ley of the Yangtze River,is one of the important vol-canic basins in East China. Volcanic rocks in the Jin-niu Basin are distributed mainly in the Majiashan Formation,the Lingxiang Formation and the Dasi Formation,consisting of rhyolite,basalt and basaltic andesite,(trachy)-basalt and basaltic trachy-andesite and (trachy)-andesite and (trachy)-dacite and rhyolite respectively,in which the Dasi volcanism is volumet-rically dominant and widespread. The Dasi volcanic rocks were selected for SHRIMP zircon U-Pb dating to confirm the timing of volcanism. The results indi-cate that there exist a large amount of magmatic zir-cons characterized by high U and Th contents in the volcanic rocks. The concordia ages for 13 points are 128 ± 1Ma (MSWD = 3.0). On account of the shape of zircons and Th/U ratios,this age is considered to represent the crystallization time of the Dasi volcan-ism. The volcanic rocks in the Dasi,Majiashan and Lingxiang Formations share similar trace elementand REE partition patterns as well as Sr-Nd isotopic compositions. In combination with the regional geol-ogy,it is proposed that the southeast Hubei volcanic rocks were formed mainly during the Early Creta-ceous,just like other volcanic basins in middle-lower Yangtze valley. 2STUDY ON CONCENTRATING SULFURIC ACID SOLUTION BY VACUUM MEMBRANE DISTILLATION显示文摘Concentrating sulfuric acid solution by vacuum membrane distillation with flat PEFE membrane is explored. The effects of sulfuric acid concentration, temperature of the feed, the vacuum degree of the vacuum side on the flux of membrane distillation and the separation efficiency of acid are investigated. The results illustrate that the flux of the membrane distillation increases with the rise of feed temperature and the vacuum degree of the vacuum side, but it decreases with the rise of the sulfuric acid concentration of the feed. The separation efficiency of acid is correlated with the flux of membrane distillation; the separation efficiency of the acid can amount to 100% in the process, when operative conditions are properly controlled. 3Towards an Artificial Intelligence Framework for Data-Driven Prediction of Coronavirus Clinical Severity显示文摘The virus SARS-CoV2,which causes the Coronavirus disease COVID-19 has become a pandemic and has spread to every inhabited continent.Given the increasing caseload,there is an urgent need to augment clinical skills in order to identify from among the many mild cases the few that will progress to critical illness.We present a first step towards building an artificial intelligence(AI)framework,with predictive analytics(PA)capabilities applied to real patient data,to provide rapid clinical decision-making support.COVID-19 has presented a pressing need as a)clinicians are still developing clinical acumen given the disease’s novelty,and b)resource limitations in a rapidly expanding pandemic require difficult decisions relating to resource allocation.The objectives of this research are:(1)to algorithmically identify the combinations of clinical characteristics of COVID-19 that predict outcomes,and(2)to develop a tool with AI capabilities that will predict patients at risk for more severe illness on initial presentation.The predictive models learn from historical data to help predict specifically who will develop acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS),a severe outcome in COVID-19.Our experimental results based on two hospitals in Wenzhou,Zhejang,China identify features most predictive of ARDS in COVID-19 initial presentation which would not have stood out to clinicians.A mild increase in elevated alanine aminotransferase(ALT)(a liver enzyme)),a presence of myalgias(body aches),and an increase in hemoglobin,in this order,are the clinical features,on presentation,that are the most predictive.Those two centers’COVID-19 case series symptoms on initial presentation can help predict severe outcomes.Predictive models that learned from historical data of patients from two Chinese hospitals achieved 70%to 80%accuracy in predicting severe cases.Xiangao Jiang Megan Coffee Anasse Bari Junzhang Wang Xinyue Jiang Jianping Huang Jichan Shi Jianyi Dai Jing Cai Tianxiao Zhang Zhengxing Wu Guiqing He Yitong Huang 2020Computers, Materials & Continua2020,,4:15
4Gradual solution heat treatment of AlSiCuMg cast alloys显示文摘The microstmcture characteristics of AlSiCuMg cast alloys were studied with different Cu content and the gradual solution treatment by DSC, SEM, TEM and mechanical method. The melting point of α(Al) + Si decreases and polynary eutectic phases with low melting point form with increase of Cu content. Gradual solution treatment includes two steps:solution treating near the melting point of polynary eutectic phase to take it dissolve first, and then increasing solution temperature to take the remainder copper intermetallics dissolved into o(Al). 6Solvent extraction of vanadium from sulfuric acid solution显示文摘The behaviour of vanadium(V) extracted from sulfuric acid solution was investigated using Cyanex 923 as an extractant. The effects of the concentration of Cyanex 923 and the pH of the solution were studied. The extraction of vanadium(V) increases with the increase of Cyanex 923 concentration and shaking time. Cyanex 923 can extract vanadium(V) from sulfuric acid solution at low pH conditions, and the best pH conditions for extraction of vanadium(V) are at pH 1.0-2.0. The species extracted into the organic phase is VO2HSO4 with one molecule of Cyanex 923. 7Cd uptake in rice cultivars treated with organic acids and EDTA显示文摘A pot experiment was conducted to examine the activity of antioxidant enzymes, the content of malondialdehyde (MDA), proline and protein, and Cd uptake in different rice cultivars exposed to Cd (0, 1 and 5 mg/kg) in the presence of organic acids and ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA). The results showed the increase in activity of dismutase (SOD), contents of proline and protein but a decline in activities of peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT), and MDA content for cultivars Xiushui63 and IIyou527. The resistance to Cd was higher in Xiushui63 than that in IIyou527 under the same Cd treatment. Cadmium contents in grain, straw and roots of both cultivars were markedly reduced in the presence of organic acids and EDTA. 8Removal of impurities from scandium chloride solution using 732-type resin显示文摘The deep removal of Al, Fe(Ⅱ/Ⅲ), Ca, Zr, Ti and Si from scandium chloride solution was carried out by using 732-type strong acid cation exchange resin. The effects of pH value, contact time and complexing agents(EDTA) on the purification process are investigated. The results indicate that the 732-type resin have a good scandium selectivity and the adsorption order is Sc > Fe(Ⅲ)>Al > Ca > Zr > Ti > Si in the pH range of 1-3. The separation of Sc and Zr, Si, Ti can be directly carried out because the resin have a good adsorption effect on Sc, AI and Fe(Ⅲ) but poor adsorption effect on Zr, Si and Ti under the condition of pH = 2.5 and contact time 180 min. 10ACID RECOVERY FROM WASTE SULFURIC ACID BY DIFFUSION DIALYSIS显示文摘In the process of sulfuric acid production from pyrite, there is a lot of waste acid produced in fume washing with dilute acid. Acid recovery from this sort of waste sulfuric acid by diffusion dialysis is studied in the paper. The mass transfer dialysis coefficient of sulfuric acid of the membrane AFX is measured, the effect of the flowrate of the feed and ratio of feed to water is investigated, and the two kinds of membrane (AFX and S203) are compared. The results show that diffusion dialysis process can separate the metal cation from sulfuric acid effectively, but it is difficult to separate non cation impurities as As - and F -. 11Action mechanisms of a new erythrocyte-derived depressing factor显示文摘To investigate the action mechanisms of a new erythrocyte-derived depressing factor(EDDF), the focus is placed on the effect of EDDF on both cytosolic and nuclear free calcium (Ca2+) transportation in vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMC), as well as the apoptosis and cell cycle of VSMC of rats. EDDF has been extracted from human erythrocytes. The changes of Ca2+ levels in cytoplasm ([Ca2+],) and nucleus ([Ca2+]n) have been observed using a laser scanning confocal microscope together with fluo-3/AM as a calcium indicator. Flow cytometric technique was used to study the effect of EDDF on cell cycle and apoptosis of VSMC. 14Neck observation versus elective neck dissection in management of clinical T1/2N0 oral squamous cell carcinoma: a retrospective study of 232 patients显示文摘Objective: The management of early-stage(cT1/2N0) oral squamous cell carcinoma(OSCC) remains a controversial issue. The aim of this study was to compare the clinical outcomes of neck observation(OBS) and elective neck dissection(END) in treating patients with cT1/2N0 OSCC.Methods: A total of 232 patients with cT1/2N0 OSCC were included in this retrospective study. Of these patients, 181 were treated with END and 51 with OBS. The survival curves of 5-year overall survival(OS), diseasespecific survival(DSS), and recurrence-free survival(RFS) rates were plotted using the Kaplan-Meier method for each group, and compared using the Log-rank test.Results: There was no significant difference in 5-year OS and DSS rates between END and OBS groups(OS:89.0% vs. 88.2%, P=0.906; DSS: 92.3% vs. 92.2%, P=0.998). However, the END group had a higher 5-year RFS rate than the OBS group(90.1% vs. 76.5%, P=0.009). Patients with occult metastases in OBS group(7/51) had similar 5-year OS rate(57.1% vs. 64.1%, P=0.839) and DSS rate(71.4% vs. 74.4%, P=0.982) to those in END group(39/181). In the regional recurrence patients, the 5-year OS rate(57.1% vs. 11.1%, P=0.011) and DSS rate(71.4% vs. 22.2%, P=0.022) in OBS group(7/51) were higher than those in END group(9/181).Conclusions: The results indicated that OBS policy could obtain the same 5-year OS and DSS as END. 15Impact of Asarum Essential Oils on Physiological and Biochemical Indicators of Two Agricultural Pests显示文摘[Objective]The paper was to study the effects of asarum essential oils on physiological and biochemical indices of two agricultural pests. [Method]Asarum essential oils were extracted by different methods,and their effects on physiological and biochemical indices related to the structure of body wall( chitin and phenoloxidase),the physiological and biochemical indices acting on the nervous system( Acetylcholinesterase),and the physiological and biochemical indices acting on the digestive system( protease,amylase and lipase) of Ostrinia furnacalis and Mythimna seperata were studied. [Result]Asarum essential oils had no effect no chitin content of body wall under the experimental concentration,and had no inhibitory effect but activated effect on polyphenol oxidase activity. Asarum essential oils could act on the nervous system of insect,and had strong inhibitory effect against acetylcholinesterase activity of O. furnacalis larvae,with inhibition rates of 24. 86%- 38. 79%. Asarum essential oils showed a significant activated effect on pepsin activity in midgut,but the activated amplitude became smaller with the prolongation of treatment time. Asarum essential oils showed a significant inhibitory effect on activities of amylase and lipase,indicating that it could play an insecticidal effect by inhibiting activity of amylase and lipase,and it could act on digestive system of insect. 16Altered serous levels of monoamine neurotransmitter metabolites in patients with refractory and non-refractory depression显示文摘The study examined plasma metabolite changes of monoamine neurotransmitters in patients with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) and non-TRD before and after therapy. All 30 TRD and 30 non-TRD patients met the diagnostic criteria for a depressive episode in accordance with the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision. Before treatment, and at 4, 6, and 8 weeks after treatment, the plasma metabolite products of monoamine neurotransmitters in TRD group, including 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid, 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl ethylene glycol and homovanillic acid, were significantly lower than those in the non-TRD group. After two types of anti-depressive therapy with 5-serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, combined with psychotherapy, the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale scores were significantly reduced in both groups of patients, and the serous levels of 5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid and 3-methoxy-4-hydroxyphenyl ethylene glycol were significantly increased. In contrast, the homovanillic acid level exhibited no significant change. 17GPU-based composite subdivision显示文摘This paper proposes a novel strategy based on fragment meshes of Shiue et al.for GPU rendering of composite subdivision surfaces.Two enumeration systems are established to label the primitives of each fragment mesh.A sector-layer-index enumeration system is responsible for retrieving proximities for subdivision masks while a sector-index enumeration system designates a 2D texture buffer in GPU.Recurring to the free conversion between them,our approach may get rid of lookup tables that are designed to record subdivision masks.In addition,relatively small composite subdivision masks make it easy to develop automatically retrieving techniques.Finally,as center vertices are often irregular,their computation is related to an average with alterable number of items.Considering that variable loop is not efficient in GPU,we evaluate the center vertex of each fragment mesh using the linear combination of its level 0,level 1 and limit positions instead of averaging schemes.Experiments demonstrate that our approach generally outperforms that of Shiue et al.in FPS by a long way.LI Guiqing ZHANG ,liahua LIANG Cheng YIN Mengxiao XIONG Yunhui 2012Computer Aided Drafting,Design and Manufacturing2012,22,3:2
18Daily power demand prediction for buildings at a large scale using a hybrid of physics-based model and generative adversarial network显示文摘Power demand prediction for buildings at a large scale is required for power grid operation.The bottom-up prediction method using physics-based models is popular,but has some limitations such as a heavy workload on model creation and long computing time.Top-down methods based on data driven models are fast,but less accurate.Considering the similarity of power demand patterns of single buildings and the superiority of generative adversarial network(GAN),this paper proposes a new method(E-GAN),which combines a physics-based model(EnergyPlus)and a data-driven model(GAN),to predict the daily power demand for buildings at a large scale.The new E-GAN method selects a small number of typical buildings and utilizes EnergyPlus models to predict their power demands.Utilizing the prediction for those typical buildings,the GAN then is adopted to forecast the power demands of a large number of buildings.To verify the proposed method,the E-GAN is used to predict 24-hour power demands for a set of residential buildings.The results show that(1)4.3%of physics-based models in each building category are required to ensure the prediction accuracy;(2)compared with the physics-based model,the E-GAN can predict power demand accurately with only 5%error(measured by mean absolute percentage error,MAPE)while using only approximately 9%of the computing time;and(3)compared with data-driven models(e.g.,support vector regression,extreme learning machine,and polynomial regression model),E-GAN demonstrates at least 60%reduction in prediction error measured by MAPE.Chenlu Tian Yunyang Ye Yingli Lou Wangda Zuo Guiqing Zhang Chengdong Li 2022Building Simulation2022,15,9:2
19Reactive changes in astrocytes, and delayed neuronal death, in the rat hippocampal CA1 region following cerebral ischemia/reperfusion显示文摘BACKGROUND: Blood supply to the hippocampus is not provided by the middle cerebral artery. However, previous studies have shown that delayed neuronal death in the hippocampus may occur following focal cerebral ischemia induced by middle cerebral artery occlusion. OBJECTIVE: To observe the relationship between reactive changes in hippocampal astrocytes and delayed neuronal death in the hippocampal CA1 region following middle cerebral artery occlusion. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The immunohistochemical, randomized, controlled animal study was performed at the Laboratory of Department of Neurology, Tongji Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, from July to November 2007. MATERIALS: Rabbit anti-glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) (Neomarkers, USA), goat anti-rabbit IgG (Sigma, USA) and ApoAlert apoptosis detection kit (Biosciences Clontech, USA) were used in this study. METHODS: A total of 42 healthy adult male Wistar rats, aged 3–5 months, were randomly divided into a sham operation group (n = 6) and a cerebral ischemia/reperfusion group (n = 36). In the cerebral ischemia/reperfusion group, cerebral ischemia/reperfusion models were created by middle cerebral artery occlusion. In the sham operation group, the thread was only inserted into the initial region of the internal carotid artery, and middle cerebral artery occlusion was not induced. Rats in the cerebral ischemia/reperfusion group were assigned to a delayed neuronal death (+) subgroup and a delayed neuronal death (–) subgroup, according to the occurrence of delayed neuronal death in the ischemic side of the hippocampal CA1 region following cerebral ischemia. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Delayed neuronal death in the hippocampal CA1 region was measured by Nissl staining. GFAP expression and delayed neuronal death changes were measured in the rat hippocampal CA1 region at the ischemic hemisphere by double staining for GFAP and TUNEL. RESULTS: After 3 days of ischemia/reperfusion, astrocytes with abnormal morphology were detected in the rat hippocampal CA1 region in the delayed neuronal death (+) subgroup. No significant difference in GFAP expression was found in the rat hippocampal CA1 region at the ischemic hemisphere in the sham operation group, delayed neuronal death (+) subgroup and delayed neuronal death (–) subgroup (P > 0.05). After 7 days of ischemia/reperfusion, many GFAP-positive cells, which possessed a large cell body and an increased number of processes, were activated in the rat hippocampal CA1 region at the ischemic hemisphere. GFAP expression in the hippocampal CA1 region was greater in the delayed neuronal death (+) subgroup and delayed neuronal death (–) subgroup compared with the sham operation group (P < 0.01). Moreover, GFAP expression was significantly greater in the delayed neuronal death (–) subgroup than in the delayed neuronal death (+) subgroup (P < 0.01). After 30 days of ischemia/reperfusion, GFAP-positive cells were present in scar-like structures in the rat hippocampal CA1 region at the ischemic hemisphere. GFAP expression was significantly greater in the delayed neuronal death (+) subgroup and delayed neuronal death (–) subgroup compared with the sham operation group (P < 0.05). GFAP expression was significantly lower in the delayed neuronal death (–) subgroup than in the delayed neuronal death (+) subgroup (P < 0.05). The delayed neuronal death rates were 42% (5/12), 33% (4/12) and 33% (4/12) at 3, 7 and 30 days, respectively, followingischemia/reperfusion. No significant differences were detected at various time points (χ2 = 0.341, P > 0.05). CONCLUSION: The activation of astrocytes was poor in the hippocampal CA1 region during the early stages of ischemia, which is an important reason for delayed neuronal death.
