| 1 | Paleomagnetic results of Late Paleozoic rocks from northern Qiangtang Block in Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China显示文摘Tectonic evolution of the Tethys and the boundary between the Gondwanaland and the Eurasia during the Carboniferous and Permian remain hotly debated. Qiangtang region in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau may be a key place to study these problems. A paleomagnetic study was conducted on the Late Paleozoic rocks in the northern Qiangtang region (33.7°N, 86.7°W), Tibet. Two sites (21 samples) in the Upper Carboniferous, eleven sites (101 samples) in the Permian, and two sites (16 samples) in the Lower Triassic were investigated. The rock magnetic data revealed hematite and magnetite as the main magnetic carriers. In stepwise thermal demagnetization and/or combined alternating field (AC) demagnetization, two characteristic components in the majority of the samples were identified as (1) the Low-temperature Component (LTC), characterized by northerly decli- nation and moderate to steep inclination, corresponding to a pole position overlay with the present North Pole. A minority of the samples present single component, and their directions are the same as (2) the High-temperature Component (HTC) of double components. The combined single-component and HTC data of the Permian can pass the R-test at 95% level and the F-test at 99% level, as well as the BC-test. The pole position from the Late Carboniferous is at 31.8°S, 45.7°E with dp=2.1, dm=3.9, that from the Early and Middle (Late) Permian is at 31.7°S, 46.8°E with dp=9.2, dm=16.9 (34.4°N, 54.1°E with dp=6.9, dm=12.5) respectively, and that from the Early Triassic is at 16.9°S, 22.5°E with dp=4.9, dm=9.2. | 2 | Severe human infection with a novel avian-origin influenza A(H7N4) virus显示文摘Human infections with influenza H7 subtypes, such as H7N9, have raised concerns worldwide. Here, we report a human infection with a novel influenza A(H7N4) virus. A 68 years-old woman with cardiovascular and cholecystic comorbidities developed rapidly progressed pneumonia with influenza-like-illness as initial symptom, recovered after 23 days-hospitalization including 8 days in ICU. Laboratory indicators for liver and blood coagulation dysfunction were observed. Oseltamivir phosphate, glucocorticoids and antibiotics were jointly implemented, with nasal catheterization of oxygen inhalation for this patient.We obtained the medical records and collected serial respiratory and blood specimens from her. We collected throat, cloacal and/or feces samples of poultry and wild birds from the patient's backyard, neighborhood, local live poultry markets(LPMs) and the nearest lake. All close contacts of the patient were followed up and sampled with throat swabs and sera. Influenza viruses and other respiratory pathogens were tested by real-time RT-PCR, viral culturing and/or sequencing for human respiratory and bird samples. Micro-neutralizing assay was performed for sera. A novel reassortant wild bird-origin H7N4 virus is identified from the patient and her backyard poultry(chickens and ducks) by sequencing, which is distinct from previously-reported avian H7N4 and H7N9 viruses. At least four folds increase of neutralizing antibodies to H7N4 was detected in her convalescent sera. | 4 | Aberrant NF-κB activation in odontoblasts orchestrates inflammatory matrix degradation and mineral resorption显示文摘Inflammation-associated proteinase functions are key determinants of inflammatory stromal tissues deconstruction.As a specialized inflammatory pathological process,dental internal resorption(IR)includes both soft and hard tissues deconstruction within the dentin-pulp complex,which has been one of the main reasons for inflammatory tooth loss.Mechanisms of inflammatory matrix degradation and tissue resorption in IR are largely unclear.In this study,we used a combination of Cre-loxP reporter,flow cytometry,cell transplantation,and enzyme activities assay to mechanistically investigate the role of regenerative cells,odontoblasts(ODs),in inflammatory mineral resorption and matrices degradation.We report that inflamed ODs have strong capabilities of matrix degradation and tissue resorption.Traditionally,ODs are regarded as hard-tissue regenerative cells;however,our data unexpectedly present ODs as a crucial population that participates in IR-associated tissue deconstruction.Specifically,we uncovered that nuclear factor-kappa b(NF-κB)signaling orchestrated Tumor necrosis factorα(TNF-α)-induced matrix metalloproteinases(Mmps)and Cathepsin K(Ctsk)functions in ODs to enhance matrix degradation and tissue resorption.Furthermore,TNF-αincreases Rankl/Opg ratio in ODs via NF-κB signaling by impairing Opg expression but increasing Rankl level,which utterly makes ODs cell line 17IIA11(A11)become Trap^(+) and Ctsk^(+) multinucleated cells to perform resorptive actions.Blocking of NF-κB signaling significantly rescues matrix degradation and resorptive functions of inflamed ODs via repressing vital inflammatory proteinases Mmps and Ctsk.Utterly,via utilizing NF-κB specific small molecule inhibitors we satisfactorily attenuated inflammatory ODs-associated human dental IR in vivo.Our data reveal the underlying mechanisms of inflammatory matrix degradation and resorption via proteinase activities in IR-related pathological conditions. | Fanyuan Yu Fengli Huo Feifei Li Yanqin Zuo Chenglin Wang Ling Ye | 2022 | International Journal of Oral Science2022,14,1: | 1 |

| 7 | Bone analysis using an aggregation-induced emission-active iridium complex显示文摘Fluorescent analysis of bone provides valuable insights into bone structures.However,conventional dyes suffer from low specificity on bone tissue,small stokes shift,short fluorescent lifetime,and aggregation-caused quenching effect,which result in low efficacy and artifacts.In this work,we design an aggregation-induced emission(AIE)-active iridium(III)complex(Ir-BP2)as a highly selective,convenient,nondestructiveness,and dual-mode staining agent for bone analysis.Ir-BP2 containing phosphonate groups selectively binds to hydroxyapatites,the main component of bone matrix,and exhibits turn-on AIE phosphorescence with prolonged lifetime.Ir-BP2 exhibits promising biosafety and offers higher accuracy in staining calcium deposits than conventional Alizarin Red S staining assay when it is employed in real-time monitoring of osteogenesis differentiation process.A ready-to-use staining spray of Ir-BP2 is fabricated.By using fluorescent imaging and lifetime imaging,Ir-BP2 staining provides valuable insights into bone microstructure analysis,microdamage diagnosis,and bone growth state identification.Further,Ir-BP2 is successfully applied on a human spine vertebra for diagnosing bone invasiveness of eosinophilic granuloma,validating its clinical practice.This work presents a powerful tool in bone analysis and will lead to new approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of bone-related diseases. | Xianpeng Zhang Xinling Liu Hongwen Yu Shuang Shen Junchao Zhi Zhen GaoJingqi Xin Jiaqi Song Liang Shao Caiting Meng Feifei An Taotao Huo Shichang Liu Ye Zhang Li Xu Guanying Li | 2023 | Aggregate2023,4,6: | 0 |
