3The 2020 Summer Floods and 2020/21 Winter Extreme Cold Surges in China and the 2020 Typhoon Season in the Western North Pacific显示文摘China experienced significant flooding in the summer of 2020 and multiple extreme cold surges during the winter of 2020/21.Additionally,the 2020 typhoon season had below average activity with especially quiet activity during the first half of the season in the western North Pacific(WNP).Sea surface temperature changes in the Pacific,Indian,and Atlantic Oceans all contributed to the heavy rainfall in China,but the Atlantic and Indian Oceans seem to have played dominant roles.Enhancement and movement of the Siberian High caused a wavier pattern in the jet stream that allowed cold polar air to reach southward,inducing cold surges in China.Large vertical wind shear and low humidity in the WNP were responsible for fewer typhoons in the first half of the typhoon season.Although it is known that global warming can increase the frequency of extreme weather and climate events,its influences on individual events still need to be quantified.Additionally,the extreme cold surge during 16–18 February 2021 in the United States shares similar mechanisms with the winter 2020/21 extreme cold surges in China.Chunzai WANG Yulong YAO Haili WANG Xiubao SUN Jiayu ZHENG 2021Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2021,38,6:8

5Fenton-like degradation of Methylene Blue using paper mill sludge-derived magnetically separable heterogeneous catalyst:Characterization and mechanism显示文摘For the paper industry, the disposal and management of the yielded sludge are a considerable challenge. In our work, the paper mill sludge-derived magnetically separable heterogeneous catalyst(PMS-Fe-380) was prepared easily through a facile synthesis method. The morphology and structure of PMS-Fe-380 were fully characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and Brunauer–Emmet–Teller analysis. The catalytic activity of PMS-Fe-380 was evaluated by degradation of Methylene Blue(MB). The reusability and stability of PMS-Fe-380 were evaluated in five repeated runs, which suggested that PMS-Fe-380 manifested excellent stability of catalytic activity. Moreover,leaching tests indicated that the leached iron is negligible(<0.5 mg/L). 6Influence of cosmic radiation on lymphocyte micronucleus,serum lipid peroxide and antioxidation capacity in aircrew members显示文摘This study looks into the influence of cosmic radiation at high altitudes on human bodies. Results reveal that the cytokinesis-block micronuclei (CBMN) and conventional cultured micronuclei in peripheral blood lymphocytes, serum levels of lipid peroxide, superoxide dismutase, and the total antioxidation capacity by chemical colorimetry all increased significantly in aircrew members. There exists a linear relationship between the CBMN and the average annual effective doses of radiation received or the average annual flying hours. With both of them, a trend shows that the serum lipid peroxide levels increase as well. Either the lipid peroxide or CBMN can sensitively reflect the recent changes in flight load. 8Clay nanosheet-mediated delivery of recombinant plasmids expressing artificial miRNAs via leaf spray to prevent infection by plant DNA viruses显示文摘Whitefly-transmitted begomoviruses are economically important plant pathogens that cause severe problems in many crop plants,such as tomato,papaya,cotton,and tobacco.Tomato yellow leaf curl virus(TYLCV)is a typical monopartite begomovirus that has been extensively studied,but methods that can efficiently control begomoviruses are still scarce.In this study,we combined artificial microRNA(amiRNA)-mediated silencing technology and clay nanosheetmediated delivery by spraying and developed a method for efficiently preventing TYLCV infection in tomato plants.We designed three amiRNAs that target different regions of TYLCV to silence virus-produced transcripts.Three plant expression vectors expressing pre-amiRNAs were constructed,and recombinant plasmid DNAs(pDNAs)were loaded onto nontoxic and degradable layered double hydroxide(LDH)clay nanosheets.LDH nanosheets containing multiple pDNAs were sprayed onto plant leaves.We found that the designed amiRNAs were significantly accumulated in leaves 7 days after spraying,while the pDNAs were sustainably detected for 35 days after the spray,suggesting that the LDH nanosheets released pDNAs in a sustained manner,protected pDNAs from degradation and efficiently delivered pDNAs into plant cells.Importantly,when the LDH nanosheets coated with pDNAs were sprayed onto plants infected by TYLCV,both the disease severity and TYLCV viral concentration in sprayed plants were significantly decreased during the 35 days,while the levels of H_(2)O_(2) were significantly increased in those plants.Taken together,these results indicate that LDH nanosheets loaded with pDNAs expressing amiRNAs can be a sustainable and promising tool for begomovirus control.Qili Liu Yanpeng Li Kedong Xu Dongxiao Li Haiyan Hu Feng Zhou Puwen Song Yongang Yu Qichao Wei Qian Liu Weipeng Wang Ruifang Bu Haili Sun Xiaohui Wang Jianjun Hao Honglian Li Chengwei Li 2020Horticulture Research2020,7,1:1

12Coordinatively unsaturated single Co atoms immobilized on C_(2)N for efficient oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘Developing cost-effective and high-efficiency oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)catalysts is imperative for promoting the substantial progress of fuel cells and metal-air batteries.The coordination and geometric engineering of single-atom catalysts(SACs)occurred the promising approach to overcome the thermodynamics and kinetics problems in high-efficiency electrocatalysis.Herein,we rationally constructed atomically dispersed Co atoms on porous N-enriched graphene material C_(2)N(CoSA-C2N)for efficient oxygen reduction reaction(ORR).Systematic characterizations demonstrated the active sites for CoSA-C2N is as identified as coordinatively unsaturated Co-N_(2)moiety,which exhibits ORR intrinsic activity.Structurally,the porous N-enriched graphene framework in C_(2)N could effectively increase the accessibility to the active sites and promote mass transfer rate,contributing to improved ORR kinetics.Consequently,CoSA-C_(2)N exhibited superior ORR performance in both acidic and alkaline conditions as well as impressive long-term durability.The coordination and geometric engineering of SACs will provide a novel approach to advanced catalysts for energy related applications.Wenjing Xu Yidong Sun Jiaqi Zhou Maoqi Cao Jun Luo Haili Mao Pengfei Hu Hongfei Gu Huazhang Zhai Huishan Shang Zhi Cai 2023Nano Research2023,16,2:1

16The molecular tumor burden index as a response evaluation criterion in breast cancer显示文摘Circulating tumor DNA(ctDNA)is a potential biomarker of prognosis and therapeutic response.We conducted this study to explore the role of the molecular tumor burden index(mTBI)in ctDNA as a therapeutic response and prognostic biomarker in a larger cohort prospective phase III randomized multicenter study.We collected 291 plasma samples from 125 metastatic breast cancer patients from the CAMELLIA study(NCT01917279).Target-capture deep sequencing of 1021 genes was performed to detect somatic variants in ctDNA from the plasma samples.The pretreatment mTBI value was correlated with tumor burden(P=0.025).Patients with high-level pretreatment mTBI had shorter overall survival than patients with low-level pretreatment mTBI,and the median overall survival was 40.9 months and 68.4 months,respectively(P=0.011).Patients with mTBI decrease to less than 0.02%at the first tumor evaluation had longer progression-free survival and overall survival(P<0.001 and P=0.007,respectively).The mTBI has good sensitivity to identify complete response/partial response and progressive disease based on computed tomography scans(88.5%and 87.5%,respectively).The patients classified as molecular responders had longer progression-free survival and overall survival than the nonmolecular responders in the overall cohort(P<0.001 and P=0.036,respectively),as well as in the cohort in which computed tomography scans were defined as representing stable disease(P=0.027 and P=0.015,respectively).The mTBI in ctDNA detected in liquid biopsies is a potential biomarker of therapeutic response and prognosis in patients with metastatic breast cancer.Zongbi Yi Fei Ma Guohua Rong Binliang Liu Yanfang Guan Jin Li Xiaoying Sun Wenna Wang Xiuwen Guan Hongnan Mo Jiani Wang Haili Qian Binghe Xu 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,8:1
