| 6 | The Arabidopsis Spontaneous Cell Death1 gene, encoding a ζ-carotene desaturase essential for carotenoid biosynthesis, is involved in chloroplast development, photoprotection and retrograde signalling显示文摘Carotenoids, a class of natural pigments found in all photosynthetic organisms, are involved in a variety of physiologi-cal processes, including coloration, photoprotection, biosynthesis of abscisic acid (ABA) and chloroplast biogenesis.Although carotenoid biosynthesis has been well studied biochemically, the genetic basis of the pathway is not wellunderstood. Here, we report the characterization of two allelic Arabidopsis mutants, spontaneous cell death 1-1 (spcl-1)and spcl-2. The weak allele spcl-1 mutant showed characteristics of bleached leaves, accumulation of superoxide andmosaic cell death. The strong mutant allele spcl-2 caused a complete arrest of plant growth and development shortlyafter germination, leading to a seedling-lethal phenotype. Genetic and molecular analyses indicated that SPC1 encodesa putative ζ-carotene desaturase (ZDS) in the carotenoid biosynthesis pathway. Analysis of carotenoids revealed thatseveral major carotenoid compounds downstream of SPC1/ZDS were substantially reduced in spcl-1, suggesting thatSPC1 is a functional ZDS. Consistent with the downregulated expression of CAO and PORB, the chlorophyll contentwas decreased in spcl-1 plants. In addition, expression of Lhcb1.1, Lhcb1.4 and RbcS was absent in spcl-2, suggestingthe possible involvement of carotenoids in the plastid-to-nucleus retrograde signaling. The spcl-1 mutant also displaysan ABA-deficient phenotype that can be partially rescued by the externally supplied phytohormone. | 10 | 4-Formyl-2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-phenol: an ESIPT chromophore显示文摘In the present work, excited state intramolecular proton transfer(ESIPT) emission properties of a new benzotriazole derivative 4-formyl-2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-phenol(C1) were studied. 4-Formyl-2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-methoxy-benzene(C2), 4-formyl-2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-phenyl acetate(C3) and 4-methyl-2-(2H-benzotriazol-2-yl)-phenol(C4) were used as the reference molecules.1H NMR chemical shift of hydroxy group in C1 was located at more down field than that of C4 or p-hydroxy-benzaldehyde(C5), respectively. C1 showed two absorption bands in the range of 260–400 nm zones in various solvents, while C2 and C3 exhibited single absorption band. The equal molar mixtures of C2/C5 or C3/C5 showed single absorption band.C2 and C3 displayed single fluorescence emission band in various solvents, while C1 exhibited dual emission bands in some strong polar solvents. Furthermore, the second emission band in these strong polar solvents showed the large Stokes shift. The results show that the second emission band of C1 was produced by ESIPT. C2 and C3 could not undergo ESIPT due to no hydroxy group. | 11 | Research on ammonia emissions characteristics from light-duty gasoline vehicles显示文摘In this study,ammonia emissions characteristics of typical light-duty gasoline vehicles were obtained through laboratory vehicle bench test and combined with New European Driving Cycle(NEDC)condition and Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Cycle(WLTC)condition.The influence of ambient temperature on ammonia emissions is mainly concentrated in the cold start stage.The influence of ambient temperature on ammonia emission is shown that the ammonia emissions of light-duty gasoline vehicles under ambient temperature conditions(14 and 23℃)are lower than those under low ambient temperature conditions(-7℃)and high ambient temperature conditions(35 and 40℃).The influence of TWC on ammonia emission is shown that ammonia is a by-product of the catalytic reduction reaction of conventional gas pollutants in the exhaust gas in the TWC.Under NEDC operating conditions and WLTC operating conditions,ammonia emissions after the catalyst are 45 times and 72 times that before the catalyst,respectively.In terms of ammonia emissions control strategy research,Pd/Rh combination can reduce NH3 formation more effectively than catalyst with a single Pd formula.Precise control of the engine’s air-fuel ratio and combination with the optimized matched precious metal ratio TWC can effectively reduce ammonia emissions. | Yingshuai Liu Yunshan Ge Jianwei Tan Haili Wang Yan Ding | 2021 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2021,33,8: | 4 |

| 13 | Impacts of exercise intervention on various diseases in rats显示文摘Background:Exercise is considered as an important intervention for treatment and prevention of several diseases,such as osteoarthritis,obesity,hypertension,and Alzheimer's disease.This review summarizes decadal exercise intervention studies with various rat models across 6 major systems to provide a better understanding of the mechanisms behind the effects that exercise brought.Methods:PubMed was utilized as the data source.To collect research articles,we used the following terms to create the search:(exercise[Title]OR physical activity[Title]OR training[Title])AND(rats[Title/Abstract]OR rat[Title/Abstract]OR rattus[Title/Abstract]).To best cover targeted studies,publication dates were limited to'within 11 years.'The exercise intervention methods used for different diseases were sorted according to the mode,frequency,and intensity of exercise.Results:The collected articles were categorized into studies related to 6 systems or disease types:motor system(17 articles),metabolic system(110 articles),cardiocerebral vascular system(171 articles),nervous system(71 articles),urinary system(2 articles),and cancer(21 articles).Our review found that,for different diseases,exercise intervention mostly had a positive effect.However,the most powerful effect was achieved by using a specific mode of exercise that addressed the characteristics of the disease.Conclusion:As a model animal,rats not only provide a convenient resource for studying human diseases but also provide the possibility for exploring the molecular mechanisms of exercise intervention on diseases.This review also aims to provide exercise intervention frameworks and optimal exercise dose recommendations for further human exercise intervention research. | Ruwen Wang Haili Tian Dandan Guo Qianqian Tian Ting Yao Xingxing Kong | 2020 | Journal of Sport and Health Science2020,9,3: | 3 |
| 14 | Acellular nerve allograft promotes selective regeneration显示文摘Acellular nerve allograft preserves the basilar membrane tube and extracellular matrix, which pro-motes selective regeneration of neural defects via bridging. In the present study, a Sprague Dawley rat sciatic nerve was utilized to prepare acellular nerve allografts through the use of the chemical extraction method. Subsequently, the allograft was transplanted into a 10-mm sciatic nerve defect in Wistar rats, while autologous nerve grafts from Wistar rats served as controls. Compared with autologous nerve grafts, the acellular nerve allografts induced a greater number of degenerated nerve fibers from sural nerves, as well as a reduced misconnect rate in motor fibers, fewer acetyl-choline esterase-positive sural nerves, and a greater number of carbonic anhydrase-positive sen-sory nerve fibers. | 17 | Formalin-induced astrocyte glutamate-glutamine cycle involved in rat spinal cord central sensitization显示文摘BACKGROUND:Central sensitization,a state of increased excitability of nociceptive neurons in the spinal dorsal horn following peripheral tissue injury and/or inflammation,is an important mechanism underlying hyperalgesia and neuropathic pain.Participation of the glutamate-glutamine cycle in central sensitization of the spinal cord remains poorly understood. OBJECTIVE:To determine whether the astrocyte-neuronal glutamate-glutamine cycle is involved in formalin-induced central sensitization in the spinal cord. DESIGN,TIME AND SETTING:A randomized,controlled,animal experiment was performed at the Institute of Orthopedics,Second Hospital,Lanzhou University,China from September 2007 to August 2008. MATERIALS:Methionine sulfoximine(MSO,0.1 mmol/L),glutamine(0.25 mmol/L),and formalin were used for this study. METHODS:A total of 43 male,Sprague Dawley rats,aged 4 months,were randomly assigned to a sham operation group(n = 6) and a model group(n = 37).Rats in the model group received intrathecal infusion in the spinal cord.7 days later,37 model rats were randomly divided into PBS, MSO,glutamine,MSO + glutamine and formalin subcutaneous injection alone groups.The PBS, MSO,glutamine,MSO + glutamine groups were respectively intrathecally injected with PBS,MSO, glutamine,MSO + glutamine(50μL each),and then infused with 10μL of saline.Rats from the sham operation group were not subjected to intrathecal infusion in the spinal cord.At 15 minutes after intrathecal injection,a rat model of formalin-induced inflammatory pain was established by subcutaneous injection of 5%formalin(50μL) in the left hindpaw. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:Changes in spontaneous nociceptive behavior(licking/biting or flinching) were observed following formalin injection into the rat hindpaw. RESULTS:Compared with the PBS group,duration of licking/biting was significantly shortened,and flinching frequency was significantly diminished in the MSO group(P<0.05).Compared with the MSO group,duration of licking/biting was significantly prolonged,and flinching frequency was significantly increased in the MSO + glutamine group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in inflammatory pain behaviors among the sham operation,PBS,glutamine,MSO + glutamine,and formalin subcutaneous injection alone groups(P>0.05). | 19 | Characteristics of root pullout resistance of Caragana korshinskii Kom.in the loess area of northeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,China显示文摘Roots exert pullout resistance under pullout force,allowing plants to resist uprooting.However,the pullout resistance characteristics of taproot-type shrub species of different ages remain unclear.In this study,in order to improve our knowledge of pullout resistance characteristics of taproot systems of shrub species,we selected the shrub species Caragana korshinskii Kom.in different growth periods as the research plant and conducted in situ root pullout test.The relationships among the maximum pullout resistance,peak root displacement,shrub growth period,and aboveground growth indices(plant height and plant crown breadth)were analyzed,as well as the mechanical process of uprooting.Pullout resistance of 4-15 year-old C.korshinskii ranged from 2.49(±0.25)to 14.71(±4.96)kN,and the peak displacement ranged from 11.77(±8.61)to 26.50(±16.09)cm.The maximum pullout resistance and the peak displacement of roots increased as a power function(R^(2)=0.9038)and a linear function(R^(2)=0.8242)with increasing age,respectively.The maximum pullout resistance and the peak displacement increased with increasing plant height;however,this relationship was not significant.The maximum pullout resistance increased exponentially(R^(2)=0.5522)as the crown breadth increased.There was no significant relationship between the peak displacement and crown breadth.The pullout resistance and displacement curve were divided into three stages:the initial nonlinear growth,linear growth,and nonlinear stages.Two modes of failure of a single root occurred when the roots were subjected to vertical loading forces:the synchronous breakage mode and the periderm preferential breakage mode.These findings provide a foundation for further investigation of the soil reinforcement and slope protection mechanisms of this shrub species in the loess area of northeastern Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,China. | LIU Yabin SHI Chuan YU Dongmei WANG Shu PANG Jinghao ZHU Haili LI Guorong HU Xiasong | 2022 | Journal of Arid Land2022,14,7: | 2 |
