1Morphological study on colonic pathology in ulcerative colitis treated by moxibustion显示文摘AIM To observe the therapeutic effect ofmoxibustion on ulcerative colitis and itsinfluence on the colonic mucosal morphology.METHODS Forty-six patients with ulcerativecolitis were randomly divided into themoxibustion with herbal medicine underneathgroup and the western medicine group.Thirtypatients were treated with the abovemoxibustion and 16 patients with Salicylayefapyridine(SASP).The colonic mucosa of 13patients in the moxibustion group was observedby colonoscopy before and after the treatment.Mucin was also analyzed by H.E and AB-PASstaining.RESULTS Seventeen patients were clinicallycured,12 were improved and 1 unchanged in themoxibustion group.In the control group,5patients were clinically cured,7 improved and 4unchanged.Thirteen patients with active UCwere taken as the subjects for histopathologicanalysis in this study.The colonic mucosallesions were remarkably improved and thecharacteristic of the mucin also changed.Inmost sections,the chronic inflammation ofmucosa was geatly ameliorated(P<0.01).Theinflammatory cell infiltratation much decreased and neutrophils,disapeared in most sections(P<0.001).The goblet cells significantlyincreased(P<0.001);crypt paracrypt abscessor mucosal ulceration was seen(P<0.001).CONCLUSION The rate of cure of ulcerative colitis by moxibustion with herbal medicine beneath is superior to that by SASP. 2Roux-en-Y gastric bypass for Chinese type 2 diabetes mellitus patients with a BMI,28kg/m^2:a multi-institutional study显示文摘Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery(RYGB) has been demonstrated to be successful for treating type-II diabetes2mellitus(T2DM) patients with a body mass index(BMI),30 kg/m,but reports of RYGB for T2 DM patients with22 a BMI,28 kg/mare lacking.T2 DM patients with a BMI,28 kg/mwere prospectively recruited to participate in this study in four hospitals.The endpoint was T2 DM remission(defined by fasting blood glucose(FBG) level,110 mg/d L and hemoglobin(Hb)A1c level,6.0% at 12 months postoperatively).Predictors of remission were investigated by univariate and multivariate analyses.Eighty-six patients were assessed.Eighty-five patients underwent RYGB,with one conversion to open surgery.We compared the values of various variables before and after2 surgery.The mean BMI decreased from 24.68±2.12 to 21.72±2.43 kg/m(P,0.001).Fifty-eight(67.4%) patients were not treated by drugs or insulin after surgery,and 20 patients(23.3%) had complete remission of T2 DM at12 months after surgery with an acceptable number of complications.The mean Hb A1 c level in the remission group was significantly lower than that in the non-remission group.Patients with a higher weight,lower Hb A1 c level,higher C-peptide level,and higher FBG level were more likely to have T2 DM remission in multivariate2 analyses.In conclusion,RYGB was effective and safe for treating T2 DM patients with a BMI,28 kg/m.Complete remission can be predicted by cases having a higher weight,lower Hb A1 c level,higher C-peptide level,and higher FBG level.Hui Liang Wei Guan Yanling Yang Zhongqi Mao Yijun Mei Huan Liu Yi Miao 2015The Journal of Biomedical Research2015,29,2:13

4Low-Dimensional Halide Perovskites and Their Advanced Optoelectronic Applications显示文摘Metal halide perovskites are crystalline materials originally developed out of scientific curiosity. They have shown great potential as active materials in optoelectronic applications. In the last 6 years, their certified photovoltaic efficiencies have reached 22.1%. Compared to bulk halide perovskites, low-dimensional ones exhibited novel physical properties. The photoluminescence quantum yields of perovskite quantum dots are close to 100%. The external quantum efficiencies and current efficiencies of perovskite quantum dot light-emitting diodes have reached 8% and 43 cd A^(-1),respectively, and their nanowire lasers show ultralow-threshold room-temperature lasing with emission tunability and ease of synthesis. Perovskite nanowire photodetectors reached a responsivity of 10 A W^(-1)and a specific normalized detectivity of the order of 10^(12 )Jones. Different from most reported reviews focusing on photovoltaic applications, we summarize the rapid progress in the study of low-dimensional perovskite materials, as well as their promising applications in optoelectronic devices. In particular, we review the wide tunability of fabrication methods and the state-of-the-art research outputs of low-dimensional perovskite optoelectronic devices. 7Changes in Temporal Concentration Property of Summer Precipitation in China during 1961–2010 Based on a New Index显示文摘Based on the property of entropy,a new index Q was defined to measure the temporal concentration property of summertime daily rainfall in China,based on daily precipitation data collected at 553 observation stations in China during 1961–2010.Furthermore,changes in the temporal concentration property of summer precipitation in China were investigated.The results indicate that the regions with larger Q values were located in most parts of Northwest China and the north of the Yellow River,where daily precipitation tended to become temporally concentrated during the study period.On the contrary,smaller Q values were found in eastern Tibetan Plateau,southeastern Northwest China,and most parts of Southwest and South China.The most obvious increasing trend of Q index was found in South China and most parts of Southwest China,where precipitation showed a temporal concentration trend.However,a decreasing trend of Q index was found in Northwest China,the Tibetan Plateau,and the north of the Huaihe River.Variations of the Q index and the summer rainfall total during 1961–2010 in China both exhibited an increasing trend,implying larger temporal variability in rainfall attributes.It is illustrated that the summer precipitation in general became more temporally concentrated with more intense rainfall events and wetter days.Hui LI Panmao ZHAI Er LU Wei ZHAO Yang CHEN Huan WANG 2017Journal of Meteorological Research2017,31,2:9
8Regulating Effects of Novel CpG Chitosan-nanoparticles on Immune Responses of Mice to Porcine Paratyphoid Vaccines显示文摘Objective To study the regulating effects of a novel CpG oligodeoxynuleotide and the synergistic effect of chitosan-nanoparticles (CNP) with CpG on immune responses of mice, which were used to develop a novel immunoadjuvant to boost immune response to conventional vaccines. Methods A novel CpG ODN containing 11 CpG motifs was synthesized and its bioactivities to stimulate the proliferation of lymphocytes of pig in vitro were detected. Then it was entrapped with CNP prepared in our laboratory by the method of ionic cross linkage, and immunized Kunming mice were co-inoculated with paratyphoid vaccine. The peripheral blood was collected weekly from the tail vein of inoculated mice to detect the contents of IgG, IgA, IgM, and specific antibody against salmonella as well as the levels of interleukin-2 (IL2), IL-4, and IL-6 by SABC-ELISA assay. The numbers of leucocytes, monocytes, granuloytes, and lymphocytes were calculated separately using the routine method. The experimental mice were orally challenged with virulent salmonella 35 days after inoculation. Results This CpG ODN could remarkably provoke the proliferation of lymphocytes of pig in vitro in contrast with the control (P<0.05). Compared with those of the control, immunoglobulins, including IgG, IgA, IgM, and specific antibodies to paratyphoid vaccine, increased significantly in sera from the CpG or CpG-CNP-vaccinated mice (P<0.05). IL-2, IL-4, and IL-6 increased remarkably in sera from immunized mice (P<0.05). The leucocytes, monocytes, granuloytes, and lymphocytes of the mice immunized with CpG or CpG-CNP were also increased in number (P<0.05). After the challenge, these immunity values were elevated in the mice vaccinated with CpG or CpG-CNP. The immunized mice all survived, while the control mice fell ill with evident lesions with diffuse hemorrhage in stomach, small intestine, and peritoneum. 11Healing time of incision infection after hepatobiliary surgery treated by needle-free incision suture closure显示文摘AIM:To compare the effectiveness of needle-free incision suture closure with butterfly tape and traditional secondary suturing techniques in treating incision infection.METHODS:Two hundred and twenty-three patients with incision infection following hepatobiliary surgery at a tertiary hospital were randomly divided into three groups:90 patients were closed by needle-free incision suture closure,which gradually closed the incision wound when drainage from incision infection was visibly decreased and healthy granulation tissues had grown;79 patients were closed by butterfly bandage;another 54 patients were closed by traditional secondary suturing technique.Healing time of incision infection was calculated from the beginning of dressing change to the healing of the incision.RESULTS:Healing time in the needle-free incision suture closure group(24.2±7.2 d)was significantly shorter than that in the butterfly bandage group(33.3±11.2 d)and the traditional secondary suturing group(36.2±15.3 d)(P<0.05).Healing time in the butterfly bandage group appeared to be slightly shorter than that in the secondary suture group,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).CONCLUSION:Needle-free incision suture closure could gradually close the infection wound at the same time of drainage and dressing change,thereby shortening the healing time.Wen-Jie Ma Yong Zhou Hui Mao Rui-Hua Xu Anuj Shrestha Fu-Yu Li Alex Lorance Qin Yang Yong-Qiong Zhang Ting Jiang Huan Feng Wei Zhang Nan-Sheng Cheng 2014World Journal of Gastroenterology2014,20,42:8
12Glycated Haemoglobin in Diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus and Pre-diabetes among Middle-aged and Elderly Population:Shanghai Changfeng Study显示文摘Objective To investigate the optimal glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) cut off points and evaluate the impact of HbA1c on diabetes and pre-diabetes in middle-aged and elderly population. Methods Subjects were recruited from Shanghai Changfeng Study. A total of 1 973 community-based participants (age≥45) without known diabetes underwent oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) by using a 75-g oral glucose load and HbA1c was measured by using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Subjects were classified as normal glucose tolerance (NGT), pre-diabetes(impaired glucose regulation, IGR) and new diagnosed diabetes (NDD) per 1999 WHO criteria. Two tests are compared with receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC). Results Among 1973 subjects, 271 (13.7%) were diagnosed as NDD and 474 (24.0%) as IGR by using OGTT. HbA1c was 5.7%±0.7% in this population. Use of 6.5% as the HbA1C cutoff point has sensitivity of 38.7% and specificity of 98.5%. We recommend 6.0% as a better cutoff value for diagnosis of diabetes in this population (AUC 0.829, 95% CI 0.798-0.860, P<0.001) with its sensitivity and specificity as 66.1% and 86.8%. For IGR, the results showed low sensitivity (44.9%) and specificity (66.7%) with an AUC of 0.571 for HbA1c when 5.8% was used as the cutoff point. Participants detected with HbA1c≥6.0% were associated with nearly the same metabolic characteristics, including body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, lipid profile and urine albumin-creatinine ratio (uACR) compared with diabetic subjects detected by OGTT. 15Comparison of Aspirin and Naoxintong Capsule(脑心通胶囊)with Adjusted-Dose Warfarin in Elderly Patients with High-Risk of Non-Valvular Atrial Fibrillation and Genetic Variants of Vitamin K Epoxide Reductase显示文摘Objective: To compared the therapeutic effect of a Chinese patent medicine Naoxintong Capsule(脑心通胶囊, NXT) and aspirin with adjusted-dose warfarin in Chinese elderly patients(over 65 years) with nonvalvular atrial fibrillation(NVAF) and genetic variants of vitamin K epoxide reductase(VKORC1), who are at high-risk of thromboembolism. Methods: A total of 151 patients, with NVAF and AA genotype of VKORC1-1639(a sensitive genotype to warfarin) and a CHA2 DS2-VASc clinical risk score of 2 or above, were chosen for this study. Patients were randomized into two groups and orally treated with a combination of aspirin(100 mg/day) and NXT(1.6 g thrice a day) or adjusted-dose warfarin [international normalized ratio 2.0–3.0). The primary end points including ischemic stroke and death as well as the secondary end points including hemorrhage events were followed up for at least 1 year. Results: Baseline clinical data and the rates of primary end points were similar between groups. However, the rate of serious bleeding(secondary event) in the combination therapy group was lower than that in the adjusted-dose warfarin group(0% vs. 7.9%, odds ratio: 0.921, 95% confidence interval: 0.862–0.984, P=0.028). Conclusions: Aspirin combined with NXT and warfarin displayed comparable rates of primary end point including ischemic stroke and all-cause death during the 1-year follow-up. However, as compared with warfarin, the combination therapy reduced the rate of serious bleeding. 16Insular Cortex is Critical for the Perception, Modulation,and Chronification of Pain显示文摘An increasing body of neuroimaging and electrophysiological studies of the brain suggest that the insular cortex(IC) integrates multimodal salient information ranging from sensation to cognitive-affective events to create conscious interoception. Especially with regard to pain experience, the IC has been supposed to participate in both sensory-discriminative and affective-motivational aspects of pain. In this review, we discuss the latest data proposing that subregions of the IC are involved in isolated pain networks: the posterior sensory circuit and the anterior emotional network. Due to abundant connections with other brain areas, the IC is likely to serve as an interface where cross-modal shaping of pain occurs. In chronic pain,however, this mode of emotional awareness and the modulation of pain are disrupted. 17Identification and determination of the major constituents in traditional Chinese medicine Longdan Xiegan Pill by HPLC-DAD-ESI-MS显示文摘A novel and sensitive HPLC-UV method has been developed for the simultaneous determination of twelve major compounds in Longdan Xiegan Pill.The chemical profile of the twelve compounds,including geniposidic acid(1),geniposide(2),gentiopicroside(3),liquiritin(4),crocin(5),baicalin(6),wogonoside(7),baicalein(8),glycyrrhizic acid(9),wogonin(10),oroxylin A(11)and aristolochic acid A(12),was acquired using high-performance liquid chromatography-diode array detector coupled with an electrospray tandem mass spectrometer(HPLC-DAD-ESI-MS).The analysis was performed on a Dikma Platisil ODS C18 column(250 mm×4.6 mm,5 μm)with a gradient solvent system of acetonitrile-0.1% aqueous formic acid.The validation was carried out and the linearities(r>0.9996),repeatability(RSD<1.8%),intra-and inter-day precision(RSD<1.3%),and recoveries(ranging from 96.6% to 103.4%)were acceptable.The limits of detection(LOD)of these compounds ranged from 0.29 to 4.17 ng.Aristolochic acid A,which is the toxic ingredient,was not detected in all the batches of Longdan Xiegan Pill.Furthermore,hierarchical cluster analysis was used to evaluate the variation of the herbal prescription.The proposed method is simple,effective and suitable for the quality control of this traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Hui Liu Juan Su Xu Liang Xi Zhang Ya-Jun He Hai-Qiang Huan Ji Ye Wei-Dong Zhang 2011Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2011,1,1:5
18Trends and characteristics in pre-hospital emergency care in Beijing from 2008 to 2017显示文摘Background: We aimed to describe and analyze the pre-hospital emergency medical service (EMS) in Beijing and provide information for the government and medical institutions to optimize EMS.Methods: We collected all pre-hospital emergency data in Beijing from 2008 to 2017. The chief complaint in each case was classified according to the Medical Priority Dispatch System (MPDS). The sites’ administrative districts were determined through geo-encoding of addresses and then classified into four functional regions. We analyzed the demand for EMS, emergency response times (ERT), and disease spectrum for Beijing as a whole, and for each functional region.Results: A total of 4,192,870 pre-hospital EMS cases met the inclusion criteria, with a significant increase (P < 0.001) of 51.60% from 2008 to 2017. EMS demand was positively associated with population (r= 0.946,P < 0.001). The pre-hospital EMS demand rate was 1907.05 in 2008 and 2172.23 in 2017 per 100,000, with no significant change (P = 0.57). ERT increased significantly (P = 0.001), from 19.18 min in 2008 to 24.51 min in 2016. According to MPDS classifications, the demand for pre-hospital care increased for 14 diseases, remained stable for 19, and decreased for only 1 disease. Cases of injury-related disease increased significantly from approximately 90,000 in 2017, accounting for 20% of all pre-hospital EMS cases, and the demand rate decreased in the core region but increased in the sub-urban regions. Cases of heart problems and stroke/transient ischemic attack also increased significantly in the four functional regions, with the highest demand rate in the Core Functional Region.Conclusions: More resources and effort should be devoted to pre-hospital EMS according to the increased pre-hospital EMS demand and prolonged ERT in Beijing over our 10-year study period. 19Structural Engineering of Hierarchical Aerogels Comprised of Multi-dimensional Gradient Carbon Nanoarchitectures for Highly Efficient Microwave Absorption显示文摘Recently,multilevel structural carbon aerogels are deemed as attractive candidates for microwave absorbing materials.Nevertheless,excessive stack and agglomeration for low-dimension carbon nanomaterials inducing impedance mismatch are significant challenges.Herein,the delicate“3D helix-2D sheet-1D fiber-0D dot”hierarchical aerogels have been successfully synthesized,for the first time,by sequential processes of hydrothermal self-assembly and in-situ chemical vapor deposition method.Particularly,the graphene sheets are uniformly intercalated by 3D helical carbon nanocoils,which give a feasible solution to the mentioned problem and endows the as-obtained aerogel with abundant porous structures and better dielectric properties.Moreover,by adjusting the content of 0D core-shell structured particles and the parameters for growth of the 1D carbon nanofibers,tunable electromagnetic properties and excellent impedance matching are achieved,which plays a vital role in the microwave absorption performance.As expected,the optimized aerogels harvest excellent performance,including broad effective bandwidth and strong reflection loss at low filling ratio and thin thickness.This work gives valuable guidance and inspiration for the design of hierarchical materials comprised of dimensional gradient structures,which holds great application potential for electromagnetic wave attenuation.Yongpeng Zhao Xueqing Zuo Yuan Guo Hui Huang Hao Zhang Ting Wang Ningxuan Wen Huan Chen Tianze Cong Javid Muhammad Xuan Yang Xinnan Wang Zeng Fan Lujun Pan 2021Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,9:5
20In situ observation of C_(60)(C(COOH)_(2))_(2) interacting with living cells using fluorescence microscopy显示文摘The interactions between nanoparticles and living cells were investigated by an imaging technique of fluorescence microscopy. For this pur- pose, the C60 derivative C60(C(COOH)2)2, a thera- peutic agent for degeneration diseases of central nervous system, was synthesized, purified and characterized. Its interaction with the living cell and penetration of the cellular membrane were in situ studied using the real time imaging technique, and its potential cytotoxicity was also examined by flow cy- tometry. The results indicate that C60(C(COOH)2)2 can easily enter cells, and is mainly located in cytoplasm by fluorescein labeling. Furthermore, C60(C(COOH)2)2 can carry the molecule that cannot cross cellular membranes into cells, because fluo- rescein compound itself cannot enter the cell or ad- here to membrane.
