1Formation mechanism and control methods of acicular ferrite in HSLA steels:A review显示文摘High strength low alloy(HSLA) steels have been widely used in pipelines,power plant components,civil structures and so on,due to their outstanding mechanical properties as high strength and toughness,and excellent weldability.Multi-phase microstructures containing acicular ferrite or acicular ferrite dominated phase have been proved to possess good comprehensive properties in HSLA steels.This paper mainly focuses on the formation mechanisms and control methods of acicular ferrite in HSLA steels.Effect of austenitizing conditions,continuous cooling rate,and isothermal quenching time and temperature on acicular ferrite transformation was reviewed.Furthermore,the modified process to control the formation of multi-phase microstructures containing acicular ferrite,as intercritical heat treatments,step quenching treatments and thermo-mechanical controlled processing,was summarized.The favorable combination of mechanical properties can be achieved by these modified treatments.Yi Shao Chenxi Liu Zesheng Yan Huijun Li Yongchang Liu 2018Journal of Materials Science & Technology2018,34,5:13

3Graft-accelerated virus-induced gene silencing facilitates functional genomics in rose flowers显示文摘Rose has emerged as a model ornamental plant for studies of flower development, senescence, and morphology, as well as the metabolism of floral fragrances and colors.Virus-induced gene silencing(VIGS) has long been used in functional genomics studies of rose by vacuum infiltration of cuttings or seedlings with an Agrobacterium suspension carrying TRV-derived vectors. However, VIGS in rose flowers remains a challenge because of its low efficiency and long time to establish silencing. Here we present a novel and rapid VIGS method that can be used to analyze gene function in rose,called ‘graft-accelerated VIGS', where axil ary sprouts are cut from the rose plant and vacuum infiltrated with Agrobacterium. The inoculated scions are then grafted back onto the plants to flower and silencing phenotypes can be observed within 5 weeks, post-infiltration. Using this new method, we successfully silenced expression of the RhDFR_1, RhA G, and RhNUDX_1 in rose flowers, and affected their color, petal number, as well as fragrance, respectively. This grafting method will facilitate high-throughput functional analysis of genes in rose flowers. 4Inheritance of Perpetual Blooming in Rosa chinensis ‘Old Blush'显示文摘Perpetual blooming is one of the most important biological and economical traits in modern rose, while the genetic basis underlining the control of this trait is poorly investigated. With an aim in dissecting the genetic determinism of perpetual blooming, we developed six rose populations(OB, W, F1, F2, BC1 OB and BC1W) derived from a WOB population [interspecific diploid hybridization between Rosa chinensis ‘Old Blush'(OB) and R. wichuriana ‘Basye's Thornless'(W)]. Perpetual blooming is absent both in a F1 population with 296 individuals and a BC1 W population(W as the backcross parent) with 150 individuals. However, the perpetual blooming trait showed a typical 3︰1 segregation in a backcross population BC1 OB with OB as the backcross parent. In this population with 300 individuals, 83 plants had the perpetual blooming phenotype while the other 217 featured non-perpetual blooming, indicating that the perpetual blooming trait is very likely controlled by two recessive genes in R. chinensis(rpb1 and rpb2). 5A detached petal disc assay and virus-induced gene silencing facilitate the study of Botrytis cinerea resistance in rose flowers显示文摘Fresh-cut roses(Rosa hybrida)are one of the most important ornamental crops worldwide,with annual trade in the billions of dollars.Gray mold disease caused by the pathogen Botrytis cinerea is the most serious fungal threat to cut roses,causing extensive postharvest losses.In this study,we optimized a detached petal disc assay(DPDA)for artificial B.cinerea inoculation and quantification of disease symptoms in rose petals.Furthermore,as the identification of rose genes involved in B.cinerea resistance could provide useful genetic and genomic resources,we devised a virusinduced gene silencing(VIGS)procedure for the functional analysis of B.cinerea resistance genes in rose petals.We used RhPR10.1 as a reporter of silencing efficiency and found that the rose cultivar‘Samantha’showed the greatest decrease in RhPR10.1 expression among the cultivars tested.To determine whether jasmonic acid and ethylene are required for B.cinerea resistance in rose petals,we used VIGS to silence the expression of RhLOX5 and RhEIN3(encoding a jasmonic acid biosynthesis pathway protein and an ethylene regulatory protein,respectively)and found that petal susceptibility to B.cinerea was affected.Finally,a VIGS screen of B.cinerea-induced rose transcription factors demonstrated the potential benefits of this method for the high-throughput identification of gene function in B.cinerea resistance.Collectively,our data show that the combination of the DPDA and VIGS is a reliable and highthroughput method for studying B.cinerea resistance in rose.Xiaoqian Cao Huijun Yan Xintong Liu Dandan Li Mengjie Sui Jie Wu Hongqiang Yu Zhao Zhang 2019Horticulture Research2019,6,1:5
6Greenland Ice Sheet Contribution to Future Global Sea Level Rise based on CMIP5 Models显示文摘Sea level rise(SLR) is one of the major socioeconomic risks associated with global warming. Mass losses from the Greenland ice sheet(GrIS) will be partially responsible for future SLR, although there are large uncertainties in modeled climate and ice sheet behavior. We used the ice sheet model SICOPOLIS(SImulation COde for POLythermal Ice Sheets) driven by climate projections from 20 models in the fifth phase of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP5) to estimate the GrIS contribution to global SLR. Based on the outputs of the 20 models, it is estimated that the GrIS will contribute 0–16(0–27) cm to global SLR by 2100 under the Representative Concentration Pathways(RCP) 4.5(RCP 8.5) scenarios. The projected SLR increases further to 7–22(7–33) cm with 2×basal sliding included. In response to the results of the multimodel ensemble mean, the ice sheet model projects a global SLR of 3 cm and 7 cm(10 cm and 13 cm with 2×basal sliding) under the RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5 scenarios, respectively. 7Simulation of Greenland ice sheet during the mid-Pliocene warm period显示文摘One of the key uncertainties in future sea-level projections is attributed to the Greenland ice sheet(GrIS).Studying the response of the GrIS to climate changes during the past warm periods is helpful for understanding future changes in the GrIS.In this study,using three global climate models(Community Atmosphere Model version3.1 and version 4.0 and Norwegian Earth System Model)and a three-dimensional ice sheet model,we investigate the climate and ice sheet changes over Greenland during the mid-Pliocene warm period(*3 Ma BP).The results show that the regionally averaged summer temperature over Greenland is 9.4–13.4°C higher during the mid-Pliocene period than during the pre-industrial era and the annual mean precipitation is 65.2–108.3 mm a-1greater.In response to this warm-wet climate,the GrIS shows a substantial decrease in size during the mid-Pliocene,with little ice existing along the eastern coast of Greenland.Compared to that simulated in the control run,the global sea level is approximately 7.8–8.1 m higher during the mid-Pliocene due to the decrease in the size of the GrIS.In addition,paleoclimate proxies also indicate that it is unlikely that a large-scale ice sheet exists over Greenland during the mid-Pliocene warm period.Qing Yan Zhongshi Zhang Huijun Wang Ran Zhang 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,2:3
8Biodegradation of 3,5-dimethyl-2,4-dichlorophenol in saline wastewater by newly isolated Penicillium sp.yz11-22N2显示文摘In this study,the performance of 3,5-dimethyl-2,4-dichlorophenol(DCMX) degradation by a screened strain was investigated.18 S r DNA and the neighbor-joining method were used for identification of the isolated strain.The results of phylogenetic analysis and scanning electron micrographs showed that the most probable identity of the screened strain should be Penicillium sp.Growth characteristics of Penicillium sp.and degradation processes of DCMX were examined.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy of the inoculated DCMX solution was recorded,which supported the capacity of DCMX degradation by the screened Penicillium sp.Under different salinity conditions,the highest growth rate and removal efficiency for DCMX were obtained at p H 6.0.The removal efficiency decreased from 100%to 66% when the DCMX concentration increased from 5 to 60 mg/L,respectively.Using a Box–Behnken design,the maximum DCMX removal efficiency was determined to be 98.4%.With acclimation to salinity,higher removal efficiency could be achieved.The results demonstrate that the screened Penicillium sp.has the capability for degradation of DCMX.Zhou Yan Huijun He Chunping Yang Guangming Zeng Le Luo Panpan Jiao Huiru Li Li Lu 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,7:3

10Influences of anion concentration and valence on dispersion and aggregation of titanium dioxide nanoparticles in aqueous solutions显示文摘Dispersion and aggregation of nanoparticles in aqueous solutions are important factors for safe application of nanoparticles. In this study, dispersion and aggregation of nano-TiO_2 in aqueous solutions containing various anions were investigated. The influences of anion concentration and valence on the aggregation size, zeta potential and aggregation kinetics were individually investigated. Results showed that the zeta potential decreased from 19.8 to-41.4 mV when PO_4^(3-) concentration was increased from 0 to 50 mg/L, while the corresponding average size of nano-TiO_2 particles decreased from 613.2 to 540.3 nm. Both SO_4^(2-) and NO_3^-enhanced aggregation of nano-TiO_2in solution. As SO_4^(2-) concentration was increased from 0 to 500 mg/L, the zeta potential decreased from 19.8 to 1.4 mV, and aggregate sizes increased from 613.2 to 961.3 nm.The trend for NO_3^- fluctuation was similar to that for SO_4^(2-) although the range of variation for NO_3^- was relatively narrow. SO_4^(2-) and NO_3^-accelerated the aggregation rapidly, while PO_4^(3-) did so slowly. 11Simulation of sea surface temperature changes in the Middle Pliocene warm period and comparison with reconstructions显示文摘The Middle Pliocene (ca 3.12–2.97 Ma) is a recent warm period in the Earth’s history. In many respects, the warmth of the Middle Pliocene is similar to the probable warm situation of the late 21st century predicted by climate models. Understanding the Middle Pliocene climate is important in predicting the future climate with global warming. Here, we used the latest reconstructions for the Middle Pliocene—Pliocene Research Interpretation and Synoptic Mapping (PRISM) version 3—to simulate the Middle Pliocene climate with a fully coupled model Fast Ocean Atmosphere Model. From comparison of the results of simulations with reconstructions, we considered two important scientific topics of Middle Pliocene climate modeling: extreme warming in the subpolar North Atlantic and a permanent El Ni?o in the tropical Pacific. Our simulations illustrate that the global annual mean sea surface temperature (SST) in the Middle Pliocene was about 2.3°C higher than that in the pre-industrial era. The warming was stronger at midand high latitudes than at low latitudes. The simulated SST changes agree with SST reconstructions in PRISM3 data, especially for the North Atlantic, North Pacific and west coast of South America. However, there were still discrepancies between the simulation of the SST and reconstructions for the subpolar North Atlantic and tropical Pacific. In the case of the Atlantic, the weakened meridional overturning circulation in the simulation did not support the reconstruction of the extremely warm condition in the subpolar North Atlantic. In the case of the tropical Pacific, the whole ocean warmed, especially the eastern tropical Pacific, which did not support the permanent El Ni?o suggested by the reconstruction. From evaluation of the modeling and reconstruction, we suggest that the above discrepancies were due to uncertainties in reconstructions, difficulties in paleoclimate modeling and deficiencies of climate models. 14A simple and efficient criterion for ready screening of potential topological insulators显示文摘Topological materials are a new and rapidly expanding class of quantum matter. To date, identification of the topological nature of a given compound material demands specific determination of the appropriate topological invariant through detailed electronic structure calculations. Here we present an efficient criterion that allows ready screening of potential topological materials, using topological insulators as prototypical examples. The criterion is inherently tied to the band inversion induced by spin-orbit coupling,and is uniquely defined by a minimal number of two elemental physical properties of the constituent elements: the atomic number and Pauling electronegativity.
