| 1 | BMP-IHH-mediated interplay between mesenchymal stem cells and osteoclasts supports calvarial bone homeostasis and repair显示文摘Calvarial bones are connected by fibrous sutures. These sutures provide a niche environment that includes mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs), osteoblasts, and osteoclasts, which help maintain calvarial bone homeostasis and repair. Abnormal function of osteogenic cells or diminished MSCs within the cranial suture can lead to skull defects, such as craniosynostosis. Despite the important function of each of these cell types within the cranial suture, we have limited knowledge about the role that crosstalk between them may play in regulating calvarial bone homeostasis and injury repair. Here we show that suture MSCs give rise to osteoprogenitors that show active bone morphogenetic protein(BMP) signalling and depend on BMP-mediated Indian hedgehog(IHH) signalling to balance osteogenesis and osteoclastogenesis activity. IHH signalling and receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa-Β ligand(RANKL) may function synergistically to promote the differentiation and resorption activity of osteoclasts. Loss of Bmpr1a in MSCs leads to downregulation of hedgehog(Hh) signalling and diminished cranial sutures. Significantly, activation of Hh signalling partially restores suture morphology in Bmpr1a mutant mice, suggesting the functional importance of BMP-mediated Hh signalling in regulating suture tissue homeostasis. Furthermore, there is an increased number of CD200+ cells in Bmpr1a mutant mice, which may also contribute to the inhibited osteoclast activity in the sutures of mutant mice. Finally, suture MSCs require BMPmediated Hh signalling during the repair of calvarial bone defects after injury. | 3 | Forecast scheme and strategy for extended-range predictable components显示文摘Although extended-range forecasting has exceeded the limit of daily predictability of weather,there are still partially predictable characteristics of meteorological fields in such forecasts.A targeted forecast scheme and strategy for extended-range predictable components is proposed.Based on chaotic characteristics of the atmosphere,predictable components and unpredictable random components are separated by using the standpoint of error growth in a numerical model.The predictable components are defined as those with slow error growth at a given range,which are not sensitive to small errors in initial conditions. A numerical model for predictable components(NMPC)is established,by filtering random components with poor predictability.The aim is to maintain predictable components and avoid the influence of rapidly growing forecast errors on small scales. Meanwhile,the analogue-dynamical approach(ADA)is used to correct forecast errors of predictable components,to decrease model error and statistically take into account the influence of random components.The scheme is applied to operational dynamical extended-range forecast(DERF)model of the National Climate Center of China Meteorological Administration (NCC/CMA).Prediction results show that the scheme can improve forecast skill of predictable components to some extent, especially in high predictability regions.Forecast skill at zonal wave zero is improved more than for ultra-long waves and synoptic-scale waves.Results show good agreement with predictability of spatial scale.As a result,the scheme can reduce forecast errors and improve forecast skill,which favors operational use. | ZHENG ZhiHai HUANG JianPing FENG GuoLin CHOU JiFan | 2013 | Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,5: | 9 |

| 7 | Pyrolysis of scrap tyres pretreated by waste coal tar显示文摘For disposal of scrap tyres,there have been a lot of studies done by previous researchers,but it yet remains a longstanding challenge in practice.To find a solution for this problem,the feasibility of a proposed approach in a laboratory scale was tested.The pyrolysis of scrap tyres pretreated by waste coal tar(noted as 'as-pretreated' tyres)was performed in a batch reactor at atmospheric pressure.Waste coal tar was used to modify the scrap tyres to improve the pyrolysis efficiency of scrap tyres input and the quality of the product tar.The swelling behavior of scrap tyres soaked in waste coal tar at 10℃,effect of pyrolysis temperature on the product yields,and the synergies during pyrolysis of the as-pretreated tyres and co-pyrolysis of scrap tyres/waste coal tar mixture were all investigated in detail.The results observed found that by comparison of the calculated yields and the observed experimental yields for pyrolysis products,the synergy from co-pyrolysis of scrap tyres/waste coal tar mixture boosted the gas yield without increasing the tar yield.In contrast,the synergy during pyrolysis of the as-pretreated tyres could enhance the tar yield,but reduced the gas and char yields.According to the distillation range analyses of the tar,more light fractions were found in the tar from pyrolysis of the as-pretreated tyres,in which the gasoline fraction,diesel fraction and kerosene fraction were 38.4 wt%,46.8 wt%and 50.2 wt%,respectively.This work is expected to be helpful in further use of scrap tyres. | Shaobo Ouyang Daoling Xiong Yang Li Laixi Zou Jifan Chen | 2018 | Carbon Resources Conversion2018,1,3: | 6 |
| 8 | Large-scale low-frequency rainfall regimes and their transition modes in summertime over China显示文摘Seven large-scale low-frequency rainfall regimes (LFRRs) in summertime are identified for China in a 10-dimensional phase space by using a 40-year daily precipitation dataset. Corresponding to the local extrema of observed probability density in phase space, the LFRRs are characterized by the persistence and transitions that reflect the spread and jump features of low-frequency rainfall centers. The LFRRs are generally consistent with summer monsoon rainbelts on the intraseasonal timescale, and there exist the preferred transition relationships between the LFRRs. Four LFRRs’ transition modes (LFRRTMs), which are the dominant components of the interannual and intraseasonal variability of sum- mer rainfall in China, are further induced. Analyses of atmospheric circulation system show that the anomalies of the subtropical high over the western Pacific (SHWP) and blockings in mid-high latitudes, the low-latitude circulation anomalies, and the wavetrains over the East Asia-Pacific region (EAPWs), play crucial roles in the occurrence and transitions of the LFRRs. | 11 | Extraordinary simultaneous enhancement of the coercivity and remanence of dual alloy HRE-free Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets by post-sinter annealing显示文摘Post-sinter annealing process plays an important role in the microstructures and magnetic properties of the Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets.In this paper,systematically investigated are the magnetic properties and microstructures of the as-sintered and post-sinter annealed Nd-Fe-B magnets with Pr-Fe-Ga boundary addition.Two choice consecutive annealing methods are adopted at high and low temperatures,namely the 1 st annealing at 880℃ for 2 h and then the 2^(nd) annealing at 440℃ for 3 h.It is exceptional to find out that both the remanence and coercivity are improved after 2^(nd) annealing process for this type of magnet.The coercivity is hugely increased from 10.09 kOe for the as-sintered sample to 17.19 kOe for the 2^(nd) annealed magnet,with a significant increment of 70.37%in coercivity.The extraordinary magnetic properties of B_(r)=14.44 kGs,H_(cj)=17.19 kOe and(BH)_(max)=51.08 MGOe are obtained for the designated Nd-Fe-B sintered magnets without heavy rare earth(HRE)elements manufactured by dual alloy method.The Curie temperature is monotonically decreased from 634 K to 602 K while the c-axis alignment degree is optimized after annealing.Microstructural observation and analysis indicate that the elemental distribution patterns are altered after the 2^(nd) annealing.The diffusion of the aggregate(Pr,Nd,Cu,Ga)-rich phase from triple junctions into the grain boundary regions is ascribed to the formation of thin and continuous grain boundary layer,which is critical to improve the microstructures and magnetic properties. | Qingfang Huang Qingzheng Jiang Jifan Hu Sajjad Ur Rehman Gang Fu Qichen Quan Jixiang Huang Deqin Xu Dakun Chen Zhenchen Zhong | 2022 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,11: | 3 |

Experimental results show that the resistances for PrFeO_3 and NdFeO_3 in CO_2 gas are larger than those in air and the responses for PrFeO_3and NdFeO_3 sensors increase with an increase in room-temperature relative humidity. When exposed to1000 ppm CO_2, the response of PrFeO_3 thick film based on nano-powders annealed at 700℃can reach8.44 at 160℃for the background of wet air with 58%of room-temperature relative humidity (RH),which is much larger than the corresponding value (3.03) in wet air with 25%RH. The sensing response S of NdFeO_3 thick-film sensor based on nano-powders annealed at 600℃to 3000 ppm CO_2 at the operating temperature 200℃can reach 2.36 for the background of wet air with 72%RH, which is larger than the corresponding value (1.83) in the air with 25%RH. | 13 | An Online Model Correction Method Based on an Inverse Problem:Part I—Model Error Estimation by Iteration显示文摘Errors inevitably exist in numerical weather prediction(NWP) due to imperfect numeric and physical parameterizations.To eliminate these errors,by considering NWP as an inverse problem,an unknown term in the prediction equations can be estimated inversely by using the past data,which are presumed to represent the imperfection of the NWP model(model error,denoted as ME). In this first paper of a two-part series,an iteration method for obtaining the MEs in past intervals is presented,and the results from testing its convergence in idealized experiments are reported. Moreover,two batches of iteration tests were applied in the global forecast system of the Global and Regional Assimilation and Prediction System(GRAPES-GFS) for July–August 2009 and January–February 2010. The datasets associated with the initial conditions and sea surface temperature(SST) were both based on NCEP(National Centers for Environmental Prediction) FNL(final) data.The results showed that 6th h forecast errors were reduced to 10% of their original value after a 20-step iteration. Then,off-line forecast error corrections were estimated linearly based on the 2-month mean MEs and compared with forecast errors. The estimated error corrections agreed well with the forecast errors,but the linear growth rate of the estimation was steeper than the forecast error. The advantage of this iteration method is that the MEs can provide the foundation for online correction. | 15 | Detecting direct associations in a network by information theoretic approaches显示文摘Detecting direct associations or inferring networks based on the observed data is an important issue in many fields, including biology, physics, engineering and social studies. In this work, we focus on the information theoretic approaches in the network reconstruction or the direct association detection, in particular,for biological networks. We not only review the traditional approaches or measurements on the associations among the observed variables, such as correlation coefficient, mutual information and conditional mutual information(CMI), but also summarize recently developed theories and methods. The new theoretic works include:information geometry to give a unified framework in detecting causality/association, the partial independence to alleviate the singularity of CMI, and multiscale analysis of CMI to avoid the underestimation issue of CMI.The new methods include part mutual information(PMI) and partial associations(PA), which improve the old measurements in avoiding both overestimation and underestimation. | 16 | A multi-step induced strategy to fabricate core-shell Pt-Ni alloy as symmetric electrocatalysts for overall water splitting显示文摘Devising an electrocatalyst with brilliant efficiency and satisfactory durability for hydrogen production is of considerable demand,especially for large-scale application.Herein,we adopt a multi-step consequential induced strategy to construct a bifunctional electrocatalyst for the overall water splitting.Graphene oxide(GO)was used as a carbon matrix and in situ oxygen source,which was supported by the octahedral PtNi alloy to form the PtxNiy-GO precursor.When calcinating in Ar atmosphere,the oxygen in GO induced the surface segregation of Ni from the PtNi octahedron to form a core-shell structure of Ptx@Niy.Then,the surface-enriched Ni continuously induced the reformation of C in reduced graphene oxide(rGO)to enhance the degree of graphitization.This multi-step induction formed a nanocatalyst Pt_(x)@Ni_(y)-rGO which has very high catalytic efficiency and stability.By optimizing the feeding ratio of PtNi(Pt:Ni=1:2),the electrolytic overall water splitting at 10 mA·cm^(-2) can be driven by an electrolytic voltage of as low as 1.485 V,and hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)only needs an overpotential of 37 mV in 1.0 M KOH aqueous solution.Additionally,the catalyst exhibited consistent existence form in both HER and oxygen evolution reaction(OER),which was verified by switching the anode and cathode of the cell in the electrolysis of water.This work provides a new idea for the synthesis and evaluation of the bifunctional catalysts for water splitting. | Wenjuan Xu Jinfa Chang Yinggang Cheng Hongqi Liu Jifan Li Yongjian Ai Zenan Hu Xinyue Zhang Yiming Wang Qionglin Liang Yang Yang Hongbin Sun | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,2: | 1 |
