| 1 | Remote Absolute Roll-Angle Measurement in Range of 180°Based on Polarization Modulation显示文摘Remote measurement of object orientation is often required in many applications.Out of the six degrees of freedom(DoF)that determine object orientation in space,the roll angle is the most difficult to measure using optical methods.In this letter,we propose a remote Stokes roll-angle sensor that measures roll angles from the detected Stokes vectors of modulated polarized light retroreflected from a sensing unit comprised simply of a retarder and a planar reflection mirror.Experimental results have shown that the proposed sensor can realize absolute roll angle measurement in an unprecedented range of 180°with a maximum absolute error of less than 0.25°and a measurement resolution of better than 0.01°.The proposed sensor adopts a coaxial design and takes the advantages of compactness,simplicity and low cost,and moreover,can be further expanded to a three-DoF angle sensor due to the sensitivity of the sensing unit to other two kinds of angles(pitch and yaw). | Xiuguo Chen Jinbao Liao Honggang Gu Chuanwei Zhang Hao Jiang Shiyuan Liu | 2020 | Nanomanufacturing and Metrology2020,3,3: | 1 |
| 2 | The long non-coding RNA DANA2 positively regulates drought tolerance by recruitingERF84 to promote JMJ29-mediated histone demethylation显示文摘Tens of thousands of long non-coding RNAs have been uncovered in plants,but few of them have been comprehensively studied for their biological function and molecular mechanism of their mode of action.Here,we show that the Arabidopsis long non-coding RNA DANA2 interacts with an AP2/ERF transcription factor ERF84 in the cell nucleus and then affects the transcription of JMJ29 that encodes a Jumonji C domain-containing histone H3K9 demethylase.Both RNA sequencing(RNA-seq)and genetic analyses demonstrate that DANA2 positively regulates drought stress responses through JMJ29.JMJ29 positively regulates the expression of ERF15 and GOLS2 by modulation of H3K9me2 demethylation.Accordingly,mutation of JMJ29 causes decreased ERF15 and GOLS2 expression,resulting in impaired drought tolerance,in agreement with drought-sensitive phenotypes of dana2 and erf84 mutants.Taken together,these results demonstrate that DANA2 is a positive regulator of drought response and works jointly with the transcriptional activator ERF84 to modulate JMJ29 expression in plant response to drought. | Pengxiang Zhang Reqing He Jun Yang Jingjing Cai Zhipeng Qu Rongxin Yang Jinbao Gu Zhen-Yu Wang David LAdelson Youlin Zhu Xiaofeng Cao Dong Wang | 2023 | Molecular Plant2023,16,8: | 0 |
| 3 | Alternative splicing patterns of doublesex reveal a missing link between Nix and doublesex in the sex determination cascade of Aedes albopictus显示文摘Sexual development in insects is regulated by a complicated hierarchical cascade of sex determination.The primary signals are diverse,whereas the central nexus doublesex(dsx)gene is relatively conserved within the pathway.Aedes(Stegomyia)albopictus is an important vector with an extensive worldwide distribution.We previously reported that Ae.albopictus dsx(Aalbdsx)yields one male-(Aalbdsx^(M))and three female-specific isoforms(Aalbdsx^(F1-3));however,the spatiotemporal expression profiles and mechanisms regulating sex-specific alternative splicing require further investigation.In this study,we demonstrated that the Aalbdsx^(M) messenger RNA(mRNA)represents the default pattern when analyzed in human foreskin fibroblasts and HeLa cells.We combined reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction with RNA immunoprecipitation using specific antibodies against tagged Ae.albopictus male-determining factor AalNix and confirmed that AalNix indirectly regulates dsx pre-mRNA and regulates its alternative splicing.During the early embryo stage(0-2 and 4-8 h),maternal dsx^(F) and default splicing dsx^(M) were detected in both sexes;the expression of dsx^(M) then decreased until sufficient AalNix transcripts accumulated in male embryos at 20-24 h.These findings suggest that one or more potential dsx splicing enhancers can shift dsx^(M) to dsx^(F) in both sexes;however,the presence of Nix influences the function of this unknown splicing enhancer and ultimately leads to the formation of dsx^(M) in males.Finally,our results provide important insight into the regulatory mechanism of dsx alternative splicing in the mosquito. | Binbin Jin Yijie Zhao Yunqiao Dong Peiwen Liu Yan Sun Xiaocong Li Xin Zhang Xiao-Guang Chen Jinbao Gu | 2021 | Insect Science2021,28,6: | 0 |
| 4 | Assessing the risk of spread of Zika virus under current and future climate scenarios显示文摘Zika virus(ZIKV)may cause severe microcephaly in newborn babies and Guillain‐Barrésyndrome in some adults.In recent decades,its range has expanded in 86 countries.There are two ecologically and evolutionarily district cycles:urban cycle and sylvatic cycle.This work aimed to estimate the urban and sylvatic cycle areas of ZIKV throughout the world.The occurrence records of vectors,non‐human primate hosts,and ZIKV were collected.We chose historical climate data,predicted vectors distribution,human population density,and elevation data as the variables to fit the maximum entropy model(MaxEnt).Current risk area and future prediction were performed with global climate models(GCMs)and shared socioeconomic pathways(SSPs).Predicting the ZIKV risk area would help tailor related control strategies.The results indicated that 16.6%of the world’s landmass(except Antarctica)is a risk area in the urban cycle.Approximately 6.22 billion people(78.69%of the global population)live in the risk area,with the vast majority in South Asia,tropical Africa,South America,North America,and countries around the Mediterranean Sea.Future climate change decreases the risk area of ZIKV.This study also suggested that the sylvatic cycle happened between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn.The overlap region of the urban and sylvatic cycles could be hotpots that ZIKV spill from the sylvatic to the urban cycle.It is indicated that long‐term passenger screening,mosquito surveillance,and control are necessary. | Ye Xu Jingni Zhou Tong Liu Peiwen Liu Yang Wu Zetian Lai Jinbao Gu Xiaoguang Chen | 2022 | Biosafety and Health2022,4,3: | 0 |
| 5 | Mosquito densovirus signifcantly reduces the vector susceptibility to dengue virus serotype 2 in Aedes albopictus mosquitoes(Diptera:Culicidae)显示文摘Background Dengue virus(DENV)is a major public health threat,with Aedes albopictus being the confrmed vector responsible for dengue epidemics in Guangzhou,China.Mosquito densoviruses(MDVs)are pathogenic mosquitospecifc viruses,and a novel MDV was previously isolated from Ae.albopictus in Guangzhou.This study aims to determine the prevalence of MDVs in wild Ae.albopictus populations and investigate their potential interactions with DENV and impact on vector susceptibility for DENV.Methods The prevalence of MDV in wild mosquitoes in China was investigated using open access sequencing data and PCR detection in Ae.albopictus in Guangzhou.The viral infection rate and titers in MDV-persistent C6/36 cells were evaluated at 12,24,48,72,96,and 120 h post infection(hpi)by indirect immunofuorescence assay(IFA)and real time quantitative PCR(RT-qPCR).The midgut infection rate(MIR),dissemination rate(DR),and salivary gland infection rate(SGIR)in various tissues of MDV-infected mosquitoes were detected and quantifed at 0,5,10,and 15 days post infection(dpi)by RT-PCR and RT-qPCR.The chi-square test evaluated dengue virus serotype 2(DENV-2)and Aedes aegypti densovirus(AaeDV)infection rates and related indices in mosquitoes,while Tukey’s LSD and t-tests compared viral titers in C6/36 cells and tissues over time.Results The results revealed a relatively wide distribution of MDVs in Aedes,Culex,and Anopheles mosquitoes in China and an over 68%positive rate.In vitro,signifcant reductions in DENV-2 titers in supernatant at 120 hpi,and an appar‑ent decrease in DENV-2-positive cells at 96 and 120 hpi were observed.In vivo,DENV-2 in the ovaries and salivary glands was frst detected at 10 dpi in both monoinfected and superinfected Ae.albopictus females,while MDV super‑infection with DENV-2 suppressed the salivary gland infection rate at 15 dpi.DENV-2 titer in the ovary and salivary glands of Ae.albopictus was reduced in superinfected mosquitoes at 15 dpi.Conclusions MDVs is widespread in natural mosquito populations,and replication of DENV-2 is suppressed in MDVinfected Ae.albopictus,thus reducing vector susceptibility to DENV-2.Our study supports the hypothesis that MDVs may contribute to reducing transmission of DENV and provides an alternative strategy for mosquito-transmitted disease control. | Ling Kong Jie Xiao Lu Yang Yuan Sui Duoquan Wang Shaoqiang Chen Peiwen Liu Xiao-Guang Chen Jinbao Gu | 2023 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2023,12,3: | 0 |
