1Excitation-emission matrix (EEM) fluorescence spectroscopy for characterization of organic matter in membrane bioreactors: Principles, methods and applications显示文摘The membrane bioreactor(MBR)technology is a rising star for wastewater treatment.The pollutant elimination and membrane fouling performances of MBRs are essentially related to the dissolved organic matter(DOM)in the system.Three-dimensional excitation-emission matrix(3D-EEM)fluorescence spectroscopy,a powerful tool for the rapid and sensitive characterization of DOM,has been extensively applied in MBR studies;however,only a limited portion of the EEM fingerprinting information was utilized.This paper revisits the principles and methods of fluorescence EEM,and reviews the recent progress in applying EEM to characterize DOM in MBR studies.We systematically introduced the information extracted from EEM by considering the fluorescence peak location/intensity,wavelength regional distribution,and spectral deconvolution(giving fluorescent component loadings/scores),and discussed how to use the information to interpret the chemical compositions,physiochemical properties,biological activities,membrane retention/fouling behaviors,and migration/transformation fates of DOM in MBR systems.In addition to conventional EEM indicators,novel fluorescent parameters are summarized for potential use,including quantum yield,Stokes shift,excited energy state,and fluorescence lifetime.The current limitations of EEM-based DOM characterization are also discussed,with possible measures proposed to improve applications in MBR monitoring.Jinlan Yu Kang Xiao Wenchao Xue Yue-xiao Shen Jihua Tan Shuai Liang Yanfen Wang Xia Huang 2020Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2020,14,2:3

3Taurocholic acid inhibits the response to interferon-αtherapy in patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B by impairing CD8^(+)T and NK cell function显示文摘Pegylated interferon-alpha (PegIFNα) therapy has limited effectiveness in hepatitis B e-antigen (HBeAg)-positive chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients. However, the mechanism underlying this failure is poorly understood. We aimed to investigate the influence of bile acids (BAs), especially taurocholic acid (TCA), on the response to PegIFNα therapy in CHB patients. Here, we used mass spectrometry to determine serum BA profiles in 110 patients with chronic HBV infection and 20 healthy controls (HCs). We found that serum BAs, especially TCA, were significantly elevated in HBeAg-positive CHB patients compared with those in HCs and patients in other phases of chronic HBV infection. Moreover, serum BAs, particularly TCA, inhibited the response to PegIFNα therapy in HBeAg-positive CHB patients. Mechanistically, the expression levels of IFN-γ, TNF-α, granzyme B, and perforin were measured using flow cytometry to assess the effector functions of immune cells in patients with low or high BA levels. We found that BAs reduced the number and proportion and impaired the effector functions of CD3^(+)CD8^(+) T cells and natural killer (NK) cells in HBeAg-positive CHB patients. TCA in particular reduced the frequency and impaired the effector functions of CD3^(+)CD8^(+) T and NK cells in vitro and in vivo and inhibited the immunoregulatory activity of IFN-α in vitro. Thus, our results show that BAs, especially TCA, inhibit the response to PegIFNα therapy by impairing the effector functions of CD3^(+)CD8^(+) T and NK cells in HBeAg-positive CHB patients. 4A selective and stepwise aggregation of a new fluorescent probe for dinitrate explosive differentiation by self-adaptive host-guest interaction显示文摘Nitrate explosive is hard to detect due to lack of aromatic ring and weak interaction with fluorescence probe.More challenging is even to differentiate the dinitrates with multiple nitrate explosives based on photo induced electron transfer or aggregation caused fluorescence change mechanism.A highly selective dinitrate explosive probe was designed based on a new strategy-stepwise aggregation of multiple anchored fluorene dimer 8Py-2 F.Compared with its monomer counterpart 2Py-F,8Py-2 F showed a selective and stepwise fluorescence quenching to dinitrate explosives-ethylene glycol(EGDN)and triethylene glycol dinitrate(TEGDN).The limits of detection(LODs)are 2.72μM for TEGDN and 0.46μM for EGDN,which is three orders of magnitude lower than those of 2Py-F.The stepwise quenching process is well matched with the stepwise aggregation process as evidence by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)and quantum chemical calculation proved the interaction force between the dinitrate and 8Py-2 F is hydron bonding interaction,and interaction distance is far less than that of the multiple nitrates coming from the flexibility of the chain and steric hinderance,which resulted in a self-adaptive interaction and higher selectivity.The new strategy is beneficial for the differentiation of the chemicals with similar energy level which is difficult to realize via other method,and the new method provides fluorometric probe for dinitrate explosive detection and makes it an ideal candidate for chemical detection and analysis in public safety and environmental monitoring.Jinlan Jia Wei Xu Yaguo Yu Yanyan Fu Qingguo He Huimin Cao Jiangong Cheng 2020Science China Chemistry2020,63,1:1

6Catalyst Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition of Nano-Particle Nickel Films on Teflon Surface显示文摘Films formed with nanosized nickel particles on teflon surface were prepared by means of catalyst enhanced chemical vapor deposition (CECVD) with Ni(dmg)2, Ni(acac)2, Ni(hfac)2, Ni(TMHD)2, and Ni(cp)2 as precursors, and complexes Pd(hfac)2, PdCl2 and Pd(η3-2-methylallyl)acac as catalyst under carrier gas (H2). The film growth rate depends on the precursors and substrate temperature. The chemical value, purity and surface morphology of the Ni particle films were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The films obtained were shiny with silvery color, and consisted of grains with a particle size of 50-140 nm. The Ni was metallic of which the purity was about 90%-95% from XPS analysis. 7三维适形放疗联合高强度聚焦超声治疗前列腺癌临床疗效观察(英文)显示文摘Objective:Prostate cancer is a form of cancer that develops in the prostate,a gland in the male reproductive system.Prostate cancer tends to develop in men over the age of fifty;it is one of the most prevalent types of cancer in men.This article introduced a new method of prostate cancer treatment with the combination of three dimensional conformal radiation therapy (3D-CRT) and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU),its efficacy was evaluated.Methods:From January 2004 to December 2009,95 patients were diagnosed with prostate cancer,among them,48 patients were received combined therapy with total irradiation of TD 60 Gy/30 Fx and 5 fractions of HIFU treatment,while 47 patients were received with pure 3D-CRT with total irradiation of TD (66-72) Gy/(33-36) Fx.Various indicators were evaluated,such as the local control rate and distant metastasis rate,the changes in blood PSA and fPSA,changes in T-lymphocyte subsets and NK cells,as well as acute adverse reaction of normal tissue.Results:The local response rate difference between the two groups had statistical significance (P < 0.05);the changes in blood PSA and fPSA were significant (P < 0.05);CD3+,CD4+,CD8+,CD4+/CD8+ and NK cells of the combined group increased obviously (P < 0.01),while the latter group had no increase (P > 0.05);the combined group had lower blood cells reduction and II-level acute adverse reaction of rectum,bladder and caput humeri than the pure group,but the II-level acute adverse reaction of urogenital canal in the combined group was higher (P < 0.05).Conclusion:The combined therapy with 3D-CRT and HIFU is a good way for the treatment of aged-related prostate cancer.It can ease the symptoms,control the disease and lengthen the survival time.Hui Yao Jinlan Gong Li Li Xiaofeng Wu Jianjun Yu 2012The Chinese-German Journal of Clinical Oncology2012,11,3:0
8Chemoproteomics identifies Ykt6 as the direct target of schisandrin A for neuroprotection显示文摘Schisandrin A is a natural dibenzocyclooctene lignan with potent neuroprotective activity.However,the specific mechanisms or direct target proteins have not been clarified up to now.In this study,we designed and synthesized the probes of schisandrin A with photoreactive diazirine and clickable alkyne to identify its direct target in SH-SY5Y cells by employing activity-based protein profiling(ABPP)technique.Ykt6 was prominent among the 13 proteins obtained with high confidence and we confirmed Ykt6 as the direct target of schisandrin A by CETSA,IF,SPR and knockdown assay.Functionally,schisandrin A protected the cells against the injury induced by glutamate by regulating autophagy via Ykt6.This discovery may provide a novel therapeutic option for various neuronal cell damage-mediated diseases.Tiantian Wang Yu Zhou Hao Zheng Tao Shen Dongmei Wang Jinlan Zhang 2023Chinese Chemical Letters2023,34,6:0
9Electron doping induced stable ferromagnetism in two-dimensional GdI_(3)monolayer显示文摘As a two-dimensional material with a hollow hexatomic ring structure,Néel-type anti-ferromagnetic(AFM)GdI_(3)can be used as a theoretical model to study the effect of electron doping.Based on first-principles calculations,we find that the Fermi surface nesting occurs when more than 1/3 electron per Gd is doped,resulting in the failure to obtain a stable ferromagnetic(FM)state.More interestingly,GdI_(3)with appropriate Mg/Ca doping(1/6 Mg/Ca per Gd)turns to be half-metallic FM state.This AFM–FM transition results from the transfer of doped electrons to the spatially expanded Gd-5d orbital,which leads to the FM coupling of local half-full Gd-4f electrons through 5d–4f hybridization.Moreover,the shortened Gd–Gd length is the key to the formation of the stable ferromagnetic coupling.Our method provides new insights into obtaining stable FM materials from AFM materials.Rong Guo Yilv Guo Yehui Zhang Xiaoshu Gong Tingbo Zhang Xing Yu Shijun Yuan Jinlan Wang 2023Frontiers of physics2023,18,4:0
10Efficient charge transfer in WS_(2)/W_(x)Mo_(1-x)S_(2) heterostructure empowered by energy level hybridization显示文摘Photoinduced charge transfer(CT) is decisive to the efficiency and speed of photoelectric conversion in two-dimensional(2D) van der Waals(vd Ws) heterostructures. Generally, CT rate enhancement is realized by increasing the band offset(BO). In this study, we propose that a fast and efficient CT can be realized via strong hybridization of energy levels in 2D vd Ws heterostructures with minimal BO. Firstprinciples calculations reveal that the smallest energy difference between conduction-band edges and minimal BO in the WS_(2)/W_(x)Mo_(1-x)S_(2)(x = 0.78) heterostructure yields the strong hybridization of energy levels and then results in ultrafast CT(2.7 ps). Experimental results agree with theoretical calculations. The photoluminescence of WS_(2) is quenched in the WS_(2)/W_(x)Mo_(1-x)S_(2)(x = 0.78) heterostructure, attributable to the strong hybridization-induced fast and efficient CT.
