1Breast cancer incidence and mortality in women in China: temporal trends and projections to 2030显示文摘Objective:Breast cancer was the most common cancer and the fifth cause of cancer deaths among women in China in 2015.The evaluation of the long-term incidence and mortality trends and the prediction of the future burden of breast cancer could provide valuable information for developing prevention and control strategies.Methods:The burden of breast cancer in China in 2015 was estimated by using qualified data from 368 cancer registries from the National Central Cancer Registry.Incident cases and deaths in 22 cancer registries were used to assess the time trends from 2000 to 2015.A Bayesian age-period-cohort model was used to project the burden of breast cancer to 2030.Results:Approximately 303,600 new cases of breast cancer(205,100 from urban areas and 98,500 from rural areas)and 70,400 breast cancer deaths(45,100 from urban areas and 24,500 from rural areas)occurred in China in 2015.Urban regions of China had the highest incidence and mortality rates.The most common histological subtype of breast cancer was invasive ductal carcinoma,followed by invasive lobular carcinoma.The age-standardized incidence and mortality rates increased by 3.3%and 1.0%per year during 2000–2015,and were projected to increase by more than 11%until 2030.Changes in risk and demographic factors between 2015 and 2030 in cases are predicted to increase by approximately 13.3%and 22.9%,whereas deaths are predicted to increase by 13.1%and 40.9%,respectively.Conclusions:The incidence and mortality of breast cancer continue to increase in China.There are no signs that this trend will stop by 2030,particularly in rural areas.Effective breast cancer prevention strategies are therefore urgently needed in China.Shaoyuan Lei Rongshou Zheng Siwei Zhang Ru Chen Shaoming Wang Kexin Sun Hongmei Zeng Wenqiang Wei Jie He 2021Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,3:53
2Global patterns of breast cancer incidence and mortality:A population-based cancer registry data analysis from 2000 to 2020显示文摘Background:Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer and leading cause of cancer death among women worldwide but has patterns and trends which vary in different countries.This study aimed to evaluate the global patterns of breast cancer incidence and mortality and analyze its temporal trends for breast cancer prevention and control.Methods:Breast cancer incidence and mortality data in 2020 were obtained from the GLOBOCAN online database.Continued data from the Cancer Incidence in Five Continents Time Trends,the International Agency for Research on cancer mortality and China National Central Cancer Registry were used to analyze the time trends from 2000 to 2015 through Joinpoint regression,and annual average percent changes of breast cancer incidence and mortality were calculated.Association between Human Development Index and breast cancer incidence and mortality were estimated by linear regression.Results:There were approximately 2.3 million new breast cancer cases and 685,000 breast cancer deaths worldwide in 2020.Its incidence and mortality varied among countries,with the age-standardized incidence ranging from the highest of 112.3 per 100,000 population in Belgium to the lowest of 35.8 per 100,000 population in Iran,and the age-standardized mortality from the highest of 41.0 per 100,000 population in Fiji to the lowest of 6.4 per 100,000 population in South Korea.The peak age of breast cancer in some Asian and African countries were over 10 years earlier than in European or American countries.As for the trends of breast cancer,the age-standardized incidence rates significantly increased in China and South Korea but decreased in the United States of America(USA)during 2000-2012.Meanwhile,the age-standardized mortality rates significantly increased in China and South Korea but decreased in the United Kingdom,the USA,and Australia during 2000 and 2015.Conclusions:The global burden of breast cancer is rising fast and varies greatly among countries.The incidence and mortality rates of breast cancer increased rapidly in China and South Korea but decreased in the USA.Increased health awareness,effective prevention strategies,and improved access to medical treatment are extremely important to curb the snowballing breast cancer burden,especially in the most affected countries.Shaoyuan Lei Rongshou Zheng Siwei Zhang Shaoming Wang Ru Chen Kexin Sun Hongmei Zeng Jiachen Zhou Wenqiang Wei 2021Cancer Communications2021,41,11:55
3Precise timing of the Early Paleozoic metamorphism and thrust deformation in the Eastern Kunlun Orogen显示文摘In Dulan County, Qinghai Province NW China, the arc volcanic sequences in the northern side of the Central Fault of the East Kunlun were metamorphosed progressively from upper greenschist facies in the south to epidote-amphibolite facies in the north. High-angle thrust deformation was developed synchronously with the peak metamor-phim and superimposed with later low-angle striking-slip deformation. Zircon U-Pb dating yields a concordant age of (448±4) Ma for the metavolcanics. Syn-kinematic hornblende and muscovite separated from the high-angle thrusting belt give 40Ar-39Ar plateau age of (427±4) Ma and 408 Ma, respectively. 5Trends in Incidence Rates,Mortality Rates,and Age-Period-Cohort Effects of Cervical Cancer—China,2003–2017显示文摘Introduction:This study reported the trends and analyzed the age-period-cohort effects on the incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer in China.Methods:The age-standardized incidence rate(ASIR)and mortality rate(ASMR)by Segi’s world standard population were calculated using qualified consecutive data from 22 cancer registries from 2003 to 2017 in China.We performed joinpoint analysis to describe the trends and age-period-cohort analysis to estimate the independent effects of age,period and cohort on trends in incidence and mortality rates of cervical cancer.Results:The ASIR and ASMR for cervical cancer in females over 20 years old increased during 2003−2017.For females<50 years,a decreasing trend in ASIR and a stable trend in ASMR were observed in urban areas after 2009.But the ASIR and ASMR kept increasing in rural areas during the whole period.For females>50 years,the ASIR and ASMR increased both in urban and rural areas.Age-period-cohort analysis showed increasing period effects on cervical cancer incidence and mortality during the whole period.The cohort effects exhibited a downward-upwarddownward pattern for the incidence(1918–1938,1938–1963,1963–1993)and mortality rates(1918–1943,1943–1963,1963–1993)in urban areas,a fluctuating pattern for incidence rate and a continuing downward pattern for mortality rate(1918–1993)in rural areas.Conclusions:The increases in cervical cancer incidence and mortality rates can be mostly explained by period effects.We observed decreases in risk for cervical cancer incidence and mortality in young female generations,which were more obvious in urban areas.Kexin Sun Rongshou Zheng Lin Lei Siwei Zhang Hongmei Zeng Shaoming Wang Li Li Ru Chen Bingfeng Han Ji Peng Wenqiang Wei Jie He 2022China CDC weekly2022,4,48:4
6METTL3-mediated m^(6)A RNA methylation regulates dorsal lingual epithelium homeostasis显示文摘The dorsal lingual epithelium,which is composed of taste buds and keratinocytes differentiated from K14^(+)basal cells,discriminates taste compounds and maintains the epithelial barrier.N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A)is the most abundant mRNA modification in eukaryotic cells.How METTL3-mediated m^(6)A modification regulates K14^(+)basal cell fate during dorsal lingual epithelium formation and regeneration remains unclear.Here we show knockout of Mettl3 in K14^(+)cells reduced the taste buds and enhanced keratinocytes.Deletion of Mettl3 led to increased basal cell proliferation and decreased cell division in taste buds.Conditional Mettl3 knock-in mice showed little impact on taste buds or keratinization,but displayed increased proliferation of cells around taste buds in a protective manner during post-irradiation recovery.Mechanically,we revealed that the most frequent m^(6)A modifications were enriched in Hippo and Wnt signaling,and specific peaks were observed near the stop codons of Lats1 and FZD7.Our study elucidates that METTL3 is essential for taste bud formation and could promote the quantity recovery of taste bud after radiation.Qiuchan Xiong Caojie Liu Xin Zheng Xinyi Zhou Kexin Lei Xiaohan Zhang Qian Wang Weimin Lin Ruizhan Tong Ruoshi Xu Quan Yuan 2022International Journal of Oral Science2022,14,3:2
7Insights into skeletal stem cells显示文摘The tissue-resident skeletal stem cells(SSCs),which are self-renewal and multipotent,continuously provide cells(including chondrocytes,bone cells,marrow adipocytes,and stromal cells)for the development and homeostasis of the skeletal system.In recent decade,utilizing fluorescence-activated cell sorting,lineage tracing,and single-cell sequencing,studies have identified various types of SSCs,plotted the lineage commitment trajectory,and partially revealed their properties under physiological and pathological conditions.In this review,we retrospect to SSCs identification and functional studies.We discuss the principles and approaches to identify bona fide SSCs,highlighting pioneering findings that plot the lineage atlas of SSCs.The roles of SSCs and progenitors in long bone,craniofacial tissues,and periosteum are systematically discussed.We further focus on disputes and challenges in SSC research.Qiwen Li Ruoshi Xu Kexin Lei Quan Yuan 2022Bone Research2022,10,4:2

9Trends in Incidence Rates,Mortality Rates,and Age-Period-Cohort Effects of Female Breast Cancer—China,2003-2017显示文摘Introduction:This study reported the trends in female breast cancer incidence and mortality rates in China,and analyzed the corresponding age-periodcohort effects.Methods:Data from 22 population-based cancer registries in China between 2003 and 2017 were analyzed.Age-standardized incidence rates(ASIR)and mortality rates(ASMR)were calculated using Segi’s world standard population.Joinpoint regression was employed to evaluate trends,and age-period-cohort effects were examined using the intrinsic estimator method.Results:The ASIR for female breast cancer exhibited a more rapid increase in rural areas compared to urban areas across all age groups.The most substantial increase was observed in the 20-34 age group in rural areas[annual percent change(APC)=9.0%,95%confidence interval(CI):7.0%-11.0%,P<0.001].The ASMR for females under 50 years old remained stable from 2003 to 2017 in both urban and rural areas.However,the ASMR for females over 50 in rural areas and those over 65 in urban areas demonstrated a significant increase,with the most pronounced increase observed among females over 65 in rural areas(APC=4.9%,95%CI:2.8%-7.0%,P<0.001).Age-period-cohort analysis revealed increasing period effects and decreasing cohort effects for female breast cancer incidence and mortality rates in both urban and rural settings.Notably,the cohort effect for incidence displayed a slight upward trend for females born between 1983 and 1992 in rural areas.Conclusions:Our study revealed a rapid increase in breast cancer incidence among younger generations and an accelerated mortality rate in older populations residing in rural areas.To effectively address the growing burden of female breast cancer in China,it is essential to develop and implement targeted intervention strategies.Kexin Sun Lin Lei Rongshou Zheng Siwei Zhang Hongmei Zeng Shaoming Wang Li Li Ru Chen Bingfeng Han Ji Peng Wenqiang Wei Jie He 2023China CDC weekly2023,5,15:1

11An ultrathin two-dimensional iridium-based perovskite oxide electrocatalyst with highly efficient{001}facets for acidic water oxidation显示文摘The oxygen evolution reaction(OER)is an electrochemical bottleneck half-reaction in some important energy conversion systems(e.g.,water splitting),which is traditionally mediated by iridium oxides in acidic environment.Perovskite-structured Ir-containing oxides(e.g.,SrIrO_(3))are a family of striking electrocatalysts due to their high specific activity,but this excellent quality is difficultly transferred to a nano-electrocatalyst with large active surface and good structural stability.Here,we present a synthesis method that produces a 2D ultrathin{001}-faceted SrIrO_(3)perovskite(2D-SIO)with a thickness of∼5 nm and high surface area(57.6 m^(2)g^(−1)).We show that 2D-SIO can serve as a highly active and stable electrocatalytic nanomaterial for OER under acidic conditions.This perovskite nanomaterial produces 10 mA cm^(−2)current density at a low overpotential(η,243 mV),and maintains its catalytic activity after 5000 continuous cyclic measurements.Besides ultrathin structure and large surface area,the exposed{001}facets are found to be the most crucial and unique structural factor for achieving high catalytic activity and structural stability.Our joint experimental and theoretical results demonstrate that these advantageous microstructural features of 2D-SIO endow it with a strong capability to generate the key O^(*)intermediates,and thereby facilitate O–O bond formation and the OER.Lan Yang Kexin Zhang Hui Chen Lei Shi Xiao Liang Xiyang Wang Yipu Liu Qing Feng Mingjie Liu Xiaoxin Zou 2022Journal of Energy Chemistry2022,31,3:1

16Acoustic response characteristics and sensitivity of briquette and raw coal under temperature and pressure control显示文摘Acoustic testing is a widely used technique to measure the coal mechanical properties under high temperature and pressure in situ conditions.This study compared the acoustic wave characteristics of briquette and raw coal under various temperature and pressure conditions.The results show that the longitudinal wave velocity(Vp)decreases with an increasing vitrinite content.A large number of the vitrinite content enhances the process in which the temperature and pressure changed the Vp.The Vp of briquette decreases approximately linearly with the temperature compared to raw coal.The Vp of raw coal experiences initially a rapid,then gradual,and finally the moderate increasing trend with the increase in confining pressure.However,in briquette,the Vp increases approximately linearly with the confining pressure.The results indicate that the Vp is more sensitive to temperature under low confining pressure and peaks at 50℃−60℃ than high confining pressure.However,the Vp is less sensitive to temperature under higher confining pressure,and the positive effect of high confining pressure is dominant.Understanding the mechanical properties of coal under high pressure and temperature develops better insight into coalbed methane(CBM)exploration from deep reservoirs.Hewei ZHANG Jian SHEN Kexin LI Xiaojie FANG Ziwei WANG Lei DU 2023Frontiers of Earth Science2023,17,1:0
17IMPA2 blocks cervical cancer cell apoptosis and induces paclitaxel resistance through p53-mediated AIFM2 regulation显示文摘Cervical cancer continues to be a concern,and the prognosis of locally advanced cervical cancer remains poor.IMPA2 was previously identified as a potential oncogene and regulator of tumor apoptosis.In this study,we aim to further elucidate the underlying mechanisms of IMPA2 gene in the regulation of cervical cancer apoptosis.First,we identify AIFM2 as an upregulated gene in IMPA2-silenced cervical cancer cells,and inhibition of AIFM2 reverses IMPA2 knockdown-induced apoptosis.Further study reveals that AIFM2 regulates cell apoptosis in a mitochondrial-dependent manner with a redistribution of mitochondrial membrane potential and intracellular Ca^(2+) levels.However,the analysis of the STRING database and our experimental results show that AIFM2 has little effect on cervical cancer progression and survival.Further mechanistic study demonstrates that IMPA2 and AIFM2 silencing inhibits apoptosis by activating p53.Meanwhile,the knockdown of IMPA2 enhances the chemosensitivity of cervical cancer cells by strengthening paclitaxel-induced apoptosis.Based on the above results,the IMPA2/AIFM2/p53 pathway may be a new molecular mechanism for paclitaxel treatment of cervical cancer and an effective strategy to enhance the sensitivity of cervical cancer cells to paclitaxel.Our findings display a novel function of IMPA2 in regulating cell apoptosis and paclitaxel resistance mediated by a disturbance of AIFM2 and p53 expression,potentially making it a novel therapeutic target for cervical cancer treatment.Kexin Xie Lei Liu Min Wang Xianping Li Bingqi Wang Sheng Yin Wanxin Chen Yingrui Lin Xiaolin Zhu 2023Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2023,55,4:0

19A quantum secure direct communication scheme based on intermediate-basis显示文摘Quantum secure direct communication(QSDC)is a method of communication that transmits secret information directly through a quantum channel.This paper proposes a two-step QSDC scheme based on intermediate-basis,in which the intermediate-basis Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen(EPR)pairs can assist to detect channel security and help encode information.Specifically,the intermediate-basis EPR pairs reduce the probability of Eve choosing the correct measurement basis in the first step,enhancing the security of the system.Moreover,they encode information together with information EPR pairs to improve the transmission efficiency in the second step.We consider the security of the protocol under coherent attack when Eve takes different dimensions of the auxiliary system.The simulation results show that intermediate-basis EPR pairs can lower the upper limit of the amount of information that Eve can steal in both attack scenarios.Therefore,the proposed protocol can ensure that the legitimate parties get more confidential information and improve the transmission efficiency.Kexin Liang Zhengwen Cao Xinlei Chen Lei Wang Geng Chai Jinye Peng 2023Frontiers of physics2023,18,5:0
20A splice site mutation in the FvePHP gene is associated with leaf development and f lowering time in woodland strawberry显示文摘Leaves and f lowers are crucial for the growth and development of higher plants.In this study we identified a mutant with narrow leaf lets and early f lowering(nlef)in an ethyl methanesulfonate-mutagenized population of woodland strawberry(Fragaria vesca)and aimed to identify the candidate gene.Genetic analysis revealed that a single recessive gene,nlef,controlled the mutant phenotype.We found that FvH4_1g25470,which encodes a putative DNA polymeraseαwith a polymerase and histidinol phosphatase domain(PHP),might be the candidate gene,using bulked segregant analysis with whole-genome sequencing,molecular markers,and cloning analyses.A splice donor site mutation(C to T)at the 5-end of the second intron led to an erroneous splice event that reduced the expression level of the full-length transcript of FvePHP in mutant plants.FvePHP was localized in the nucleus and was highly expressed in leaves.Silencing of FvePHP using the virus-induced gene silencing method resulted in partial developmental defects in strawberry leaves.Overexpression of the FvePHP gene can largely restore the mutant phenotype.The expression levels of FveSEP1,FveSEP3,FveAP1,FveFUL,and FveFT were higher in the mutants than those in‘Yellow Wonder’plants,probably contributing to the early f lowering phenotype in mutant plants.Our results indicate that mutation in FvePHP is associated with multiple developmental pathways.These results aid in understanding the role of DNA polymerase in strawberry development.Baotian Wang Weijia Li Kexin Xu Yingying Lei Di Zhao Xue Li Junxiang Zhang Zhihong Zhang 2023Horticulture Research2023,10,1:0
