| 2 | Holocene high lake-levels and pan-lake period on Badain Jaran Desert显示文摘Many lakes exist in southeastern Badain Jaran Desert and its hinterland, including 110 perennial lakes and some seasonal or extinct lakes. Geomorphological, sedimentological, and bioglyph evidence obtained from field investigations on Badain Jaran Desert lake group, alongside measurements and dating performed on lake relic, prove that these lakes expanded while the climate was relatively wet during early and middle Holocene. The dating results suggest that the pan-lake period of the Badain Jaran Desert began at 10 cal kyr BP, before which the limnic peat period occurred(11–10 cal kyr BP). Many lakes reached their maximal water-level during 8.6–6.3 cal kyr BP and retreated or dried up in the late Holocene(about 3.5–0 cal kyr BP). During that period, the precipitation at Badain Jaran Desert may have reached 200 mm yr^(-1) for 7.7–5.3 cal kyr BP, inferred from both the age and precipitation rate of calcareous root tubes. The water balance calculation shows that wetter and warmer climate and the increase of underground water recharge were key factors in maintaining and developing the lake group at both centennial and millennial time scales. However, these programs are faced with major challenges involving trade-offs between ecological function, livestock production and income of pastoralists.Scientific assessments, as well as technical and policy issues, have not fully captured the complex ecological,social and economic dynamics of the challenges facing grassland management on the QTP. Pastoral livestock production on the QTP is characterized by imbalance in both quality and quantity between livestock seasonal nutrient requirements and herbage production, which forces pastoralists to keep larger numbers of livestock for longer periods, leading to overgrazing. | 5 | Vitamin B2 functionalized iron oxide nanozymes for mouth ulcer healing显示文摘Mouth ulcer is associated with inflammation and high risk of bacterial infection, which aggravates the patient's condition.Currently, there is no effective treatment for mouth ulcer. Herein, we report that vitamin-modified iron oxide nanoparticles improve the healing of mouth ulcer through anti-inflammation and antibacterial activities. We discovered that vitamin B2(VB2)modified iron oxide nanoparticles performed enhanced peroxidase-like, catalase-like, and superoxide dismutase(SOD)-like activities, acting as typical iron oxide nanozymes(IONzymes) with triad activities. In particular, VB2 modification significantly improved the SOD-like activity, thus providing a reactive oxygen species(ROS)-scavenging ability. Cellular antioxidant experiments showed that vitamin B2 modified IONzymes(VB2-IONzymes) protect human oral keratinocytes(HOK) and BALB/3 T3 cells from hydrogen peroxide(H2O2), and these cells have high biocompatibility to eukaryotic cells. In addition, VB2-IONzymes exerted an antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli. Importantly, VB2-IONzymes accelerated the recovery of mouth ulcer and reduced the local secretion of inflammatory factors in mouse ulcer model via ROS scavenging and antibacterial activity. | 6 | Clinical applications of MARSALA for preimplantation genetic diagnosis of spinal muscular atrophy显示文摘Conventional PCR methods combined with linkage analysis based on short tandem repeats(STRs) or Karyomapping with single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) arrays, have been applied to preimplantation genetic diagnosis(PGD) for spinal muscular atrophy(SMA), an autosome recessive disorder. However, it has limitations in SMA diagnosis by Karyomapping, and these methods are unable to distinguish wildtype embryos with carriers effectively. Mutated allele revealed by sequencing with aneuploidy and linkage analyses(MARSALA) is a new method allowing embryo selection by a one-step next-generation sequencing(NGS) procedure, which has been applied in PGD for both autosome dominant and X-linked diseases in our group previously. In this study, we carried out PGD based on MARSALA for two carrier families with SMA affected children. As a result, one of the couples has given birth to a healthy baby free of mutations in SMA-causing gene. It is the first time that MARSALA was applied to PGD for SMA, and we can distinguish the embryos with heterozygous deletion(carriers) from the wild-type(normal) ones accurately through this NGS-based method. In addition, direct mutation detection allows us to identify the affected embryos(homozygous deletion), which can be regarded as probands for linkage analysis, in case that the affected family member is absent. | 7 | The 1470 nm diode laser with an intralesional fiber device:a proposed solution for the treatment of inflamed and infected keloids显示文摘Background:Keloids are the result of abnormal wound healing and often are subject to infections and recurrent inflammation.We present a study conducted with a 1470 nm diode laser using an intralesional optical fiber device for the treatment of inflamed keloid scars.We evaluate its efficacy as a novel alternative method to decrease keloid infection and inflammation.Methods:The patients who underwent 1470 nm laser treatment from February 2016 to February 2018 at the plastic and reconstructive surgery department of the Shanghai Ninth People’s Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University with keloid accompanying serious local infection and fester were included.Patients took curative effect evaluation before and 1 year after the treatment.The test items included infection frequency in each year;pain,by visual analogue scale(VAS);itch,using VAS;quality of life(QOL),using QOL scale;and blood supply,using PeriCam PSI.Results:A total of 19 patients(mean age 35.21 years,range 11–66)with history of inflamed keloids with episodes of infection or abscess were enrolled.Patients underwent to a 1470 nm laser therapy for average of 1.16 times.After treatment,infection frequency and blood supply in keloids were reduced(p<0.001).Pain,itching,and QOL were improved(p<0.001).Conclusion:The present study shows that 1470 nm fiber laser treatment could improve inflamed keloids fairly well by decreasing inflammation,and a relative stabilization of collagen composition.Therefore,it is an effective minimally invasive scar therapy,but further studies are essential to confirm the present results. | Ke Li Fabio Nicoli Wen Jing Xi Zheng Zhang Chunxiao Cui Ahmed Al-Mousawi Alberto Balzani Yun Tong Yixin Zhang | 2019 | Burns & Trauma2019,7,1: | 8 |

| 11 | Insight into the catalytic activity of MXenes for hydrogen evolution reaction显示文摘MXenes have exhibited great potential as cost-effective electrocatalysts for hydrogen evolution reaction(HER). However, insight into the origin of activity is still missing. Herein, on the basis of a systematical investigation of the HER performance of 20 MXenes(M_2NO_2 and M_2CO_2, M = Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Zr, Nb, Mo,Hf, Ta and W), a Fermi-abundance model is proposed to understand variation of the activity in different MXenes. It is found that the occupied p electronic states of surface O atoms play a decisive role in the HER activity of MXenes. More importantly, Ti_2NO_2 and Nb_2NO_2 are found to be promising HER electrocatalysts with the free energy for hydrogen adsorption close to zero. These properties might benefit the treatment of spinal cord injury.In the present study, we tested the effect of crocetin on neurite growth and sensorimotor dysfunction in a rat model of spinal cord injury. We evaluated the viability of cultured hippocampal neurons with tetrazolium dye and lactate dehydrogenase assays, visualized neurites and axons with antibody staining, and monitored motor and sensorimotor functions in rats with spinal cord injury using the Basso,Beattie, and Bresnahan assay and the contact plantar placement test, respectively, and measured cytokine expression using enzyme-linked immuno-absorbent assays.We found that crocetin(1) did not alter the viability of cultured hippocampal neurons;(2) accelerated neurite growth with preference for the longest process in individual hippocampal neurons;(3) reversed the inhibition of neurite growth by chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan and Nogo A;(4) facilitated the recovery of motor and sensorimotor functions after spinal cord injury; and(5) did not inhibit pro-inflammatory responses, but restored the innervation of the descending 5-HT system in injured spinalcord. | 15 | Effect of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens and Bacillus subtilis on fermentation, dynamics of bacterial community and their functional shifts of whole-plant corn silage显示文摘Background:Bacillus amyloliquefaciens(BA)and Bacillus subtilis(BS)are usually used as feed supplements directly or bacterial inoculants in biological feeds for animals.However,few research have reported the effects of BA and BS on fermentation characteristics and bacterial community successions of whole-plant corn silage during ensiling.If the BA and BS inoculants have positive effects on silages,then they could not only improve fermentation characteristics,but also deliver BA or BS viable cells to ruminants,which would play its probiotic effect.Therefore,the objectives of this study were to investigate the effects of BA and BS on the fermentation,chemical characteristics,bacterial community and their metabolic pathway of whole-plant corn silage.Results:Freshly chopped whole-plant corn was inoculated without or with BA and BS,respectively,and ensiled for1,3,7,14 and 60 d.Results showed that BA and BS inoculations increased lactic acid concentrations of whole-plant corn silages compared with control,and BA inoculation decreased acetic acid concentrations,whereas BS inoculation decreased fiber contents and increased crude protein(CP)content.Higher water-soluble carbohydrate contents and lower starch contents were observed in BA-and BS-inoculated silages compared with that in control.The decreased CP content and increased non-protein nitrogen content were observed in BA-inoculated silage,which was consistent with the higher amino acid metabolism abundances observed in BA-inoculated silage.In addition,it was noteworthy that BA and BS inoculations increased the metabolism of cofactors and vitamins,and decreased the relative abundances of drug resistance:antimicrobial pathways.We also found that the bacterial metabolism pathways were clearly separated into three clusters based on the ensiling times of whole-plant corn silage in the present study.There were no significant differences in bacterial community compositions among the three groups during ensiling.However,BA and BS inoculations decreased the relative abundances of undesirable bacteria such as Acetobacter and Acinetobacter.Conclusion:Our findings suggested that the BS strain was more suitable as silage inoculants than the BA strain in whole-plant corn silage in this study. | Jie Bai Marcia Franco Zitong Ding Lin Hao Wencan Ke Musen Wang Dongmei Xie Ziqian Li Yixin Zhang Lin Ai Xusheng Guo | 2022 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,3: | 5 |

| 17 | The association between early-onset cardiac events caused by neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy in triple-negative breast cancer patients and some novel autophagy-related polymorphisms in their genomic DNA: a real-world study显示文摘Background:An increasing number of cancer patients die of cardiovascular diseases.The cardiotoxicity of chemo-therapy is particularly important in triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)with limited therapeutic options.Cardiac autophagy is an important mechanism of cardiotoxicity.This research was aimed to investigate the cardiotoxicity of chemotherapy in TNBC,screen the susceptible population,and determine the relationship between cardiotoxicity and autophagy-related polymorphisms.Methods:From a total of 2450 stage I-III TNBC patients,147 met the inclusion criteria and finally recruited.Electro-cardiography(ECG)was performed before most chemotherapy cycles,and echocardiography(UCG)was performed according to clinical needs.All ECG and UCG records were re-interpreted by cardiologists at the National Center for Cardiovascular Disease,Fuwai Hospital.According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information and the Catalog of Somatic Mutations in Cancer database,we selected 25 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)related to autophagy and genotyped the 147 TNBC patients.Paired-sample T tests,Chi squared tests,and logistic regression models were employed for the analysis.Results:Only 46(31.3%)patients had normal ECG records after every chemotherapy cycle.Among the 16 patients who underwent UCG,2(12.5%)had a reversible decrease of left ventricular ejection fraction.The use of anthracyclines and excessive alcohol consumption were risk factors of ECG abnormalities.With the continuation of chemotherapy,heart rate gradually increased.Anthracyclines were associated with QRS duration abnormalities(P=0.043).After genotyping for 25 autophagy-related SNPs,we found that the G allele of autophagy-related 13(ATG13)rs10838611 was significantly associated with ECG abnormalities(odds ratio=2.258,95%confidence interval=1.318-3.869;P=0.003).Conclusion:ECG abnormalities caused by chemotherapy are common in the real world.Autophagy-related SNPs are associated with chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity,thereby providing new evidence for autophagy as a cause of chemotherapy-induced cardiac damage. | Binliang Liu Tao An Meiying Li Zongbi Yi Chunxiao Li Xiaoying Sun Xiuwen Guan Lixi Li Yanfeng Wang Yuhui Zhang Binghe Xu Fei Ma Yixin Zeng | 2018 | Cancer Communications2018,38,1: | 5 |

| 20 | Horizontally and Vertically Concerted Steric Strategy inα-Diimine Nickel Promoted Ethylene(Co)Polymerization显示文摘Main observation and conclusion Steric bulk plays a significantly paramount role in late transition metal promoted olefin(co)polymerization in terms of polymer molecular weight and catalyst thermal stability.Numerous sterically encumbered nickel and palladium catalysts have been developed,but they are usually uni-directional.In this contribution,from a bi-directional side the distinctive horizontally and vertically concerted steric strategy was well-developed and applied toα-diimine nickel catalysts.In ethylene polymerization,the increase of vertically steric bulk(H,Ph,Biph)led to an enhanced polymer molecular weight,a slightly ascended branching density;likewise increasing horizontally steric bulk(Ph,Nap,Ant)further resulted in the increase of polymer molecular weight and branching density.As a result,in sharp contrast to Ni1(H)without steric bulk,Ni5(Ant)with horizontally and vertically concerted steric bulk was thermally stable,showed very high activities at a level of 107 g·mol–1·h^(–1),and produced polyethylenes with the highest molecular weight of 518.8×10^(4)g·mol^(-1)and the broader range of branching density from 2.4/1000C to 27.8/1000C.In the copolymerization of ethylene with methyl 10-undecenoate,Ni5(Ant)also provided the highest copolymer molecular weight but gave the lowest incorporation of co-monomer.This work sheds light on the steric effect on olefin(co)polymerization. | Xiaoqiang Hu Yixin Zhang Baixiang Li Zhongbao Jian | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Chemistry2021,39,10: | 4 |
