1P wave velocity structure of upper and middle crust beneath the Three Gorges reservoir dam and adjacent regions显示文摘The three-dimensional P wave velocity structures of upper and middle crust beneath the Three Gorges reservoir dam and adjacent regions were reconstructed by means of the seismic tomography, using the absolute P-arrivals from the events observed by the Three Gorges seismic network. Our preliminary study of the deep structure shows: (1) the lithology of the Huangling anticline, integral and highly so-lidified, exhibits a uniformity. Down to a depth of 20 km, the Huangling anticline still shows high- velocity anomalies. Note that the characteristics of the velocity images with the different depths are not the same; (2) the depth of the sedimentary rocks beneath the entire Zigui basin is not constant, which is less than 6 km; (3) the top boundary of the crystalline basement varies from 0 to 7 km, whereas the bottom one between 14 and 16 km; (4) the partially molten substances of the upper mantle are located in the Badong-Zigui and its adjacent regions as well as nearby Peishi area. The development and evo-lution of the current tectonics are associated with the cooling and solidifying process of the molten substances within the upper mantle; (5) the different velocity structures of the deep crust in both east and west side of the Jiuwanxi fault are to be investigated in order to understand the origin of gravita-tional gradient zone in the Three Gorge areas; and (6) the velocities within the upper crust would be affected by reservoir water permeability.LI Qiang ZHAO Xu CAI JinAn LIU RuiFeng LONG GuiHua AN YanRu 2009Science China Earth Sciences2009,52,4:11
2Impact of warm mesoscale eddy on tropical cyclone intensity显示文摘The spatial-temporal patterns of tropical cyclone(TC) intensity changes caused by the warm ocean mesoscale eddy(WOME) distribution are evaluated using two sets of idealized numerical experiments. The results show that the TC was intensified and weakened when a WOME was close to and far away from the TC center, respectively.The area where the WOME enhanced(weakened) TC intensity is called the inner(outer) area in this study.Amplitudes of the enhancement and weakening caused by the WOME in the inner and outer area decreased and increased over time, while the ranges of the inner and outer area diminished and expanded, respectively. The WOME in the inner area strengthened the secondary circulation of the TC, increased heat fluxes, strengthened the symmetry, and weakened the outer spiral rainband, which enhanced TC intensity. The effect was opposite if the WOME was in the outer area, and it weakened the TC intensity. The idealized simulation employed a stationary TC, and thus the results may only be applied to TCs with slow propagation. 4Visco-acoustic transmission waveform inversion of velocity structure in space-frequency domain显示文摘According to the least square criterion of minimizing the misfit between modeled and observed data,this paper provides a preconditioned gradient method to invert the visco-acoustic velocity structure on the basis of using sparse matrix LU factorization technique to directly solve the visco-acoustic wave forward problem in space-frequency domain.Numerical results obtained in an inclusion model inversion and a layered homogeneous model inversion demonstrate that different scale media have their own frequency responses,and the strategy of using low-frequency inverted result as the starting model in the high-frequency inversion can greatly reduce the non-uniqueness of their solutions.It can also be observed in the experi-ments that the fast convergence of the algorithm can be achieved by using diagonal elements of Hessian matrix as the pre-conditioned operator,which fully incorporates the advantage of quadratic convergence of Gauss-Newton method.Guihua Long Xiaofan Li Meigen Zhang Tong Zhu 2009Earthquake Science2009,22,1:0
5Melatonin ameliorates tau-related pathology via the miR-504-3p and CDK5 axis in Alzheimer’s disease显示文摘Background:Intracellular accumulation of the microtubule-associated protein tau and its hyperphosphorylated forms is a key neuropathological feature of Alzheimer’s disease(AD).Melatonin has been shown to prevent tau hyperphosphorylation in cellular and animal models.However,the molecular mechanisms by which melatonin attenuates tau hyperphosphorylation and tau-related pathologies are not fully understood.Methods:Immunofluorescence,immunoblotting analysis and thioflavin-S staining were employed to examine the effects of early and late treatment of melatonin on tau-related pathology in hTau mice,in which nonmutated human tau is overexpressed on a mouse tau knockout background.High-throughput microRNA(miRNA)sequencing,quantitative RT-PCR,luciferase reporter assay and immunoblotting analysis were performed to determine the molecular mechanism.Results:We found that both early and late treatment of melatonin efficiently decreased the phosphorylation of soluble and insoluble tau at sites related to AD.Moreover,melatonin significantly reduced the number of neurofibrillary tangles(NFTs)and attenuated neuronal loss in the cortex and hippocampus.Furthermore,using miRNA microarray analysis,we found that miR-504-3p expression was upregulated by melatonin in the hTau mice.The administration of miR-504-3p mimics dramatically decreased tau phosphorylation by targeting p39,an activator of the well-known tau kinase cyclin-dependent kinase 5(CDK5).Compared with miR-504-3p mimics alone,co-treatment with miR-504-3p mimics and p39 failed to reduce tau hyperphosphorylation.Conclusions:Our results suggest for the first time that melatonin alleviates tau-related pathologies through upregulation of miR-504-3p expression by targeting the p39/CDK5 axis and provide novel insights into AD treatment strategies.Dongmei Chen Guihua Lan Ruomeng Li Yingxue Mei Xindong Shui Xi Gu Long Wang Tao Zhang Chen-Ling Gan Yongfang Xia Li Hu Yuan Tian Mi Zhang Tae Ho Lee 2022Translational Neurodegeneration2022,11,1:0
