| 3 | Occurrence and distribution of hexabromocyclododecane in sediments from seven major river drainage basins in China显示文摘The concentrations and geographical distribution of hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD) were investigated in 37 composite surface sediments from seven major river drainage basins in China, including Yangtze River, Yellow River, Pearl River, Liaohe River, Haihe River, Tarim River and Ertix River. The detection frequency of HBCD was 54%, with the concentrations ranged from below limit of detection (LOD) to 206 ng/g dry weight. In general, the geographical distribution showed increasing trends from the upper reaches to the lower reaches of the rivers and from North China to Southeast China. Compared to other regions in the world, the average concentration of HBCD in sediments from Yangtze River drainage basin was at relatively high level, whereas those from other six river drainage basins were at lower or similar level. The highest HBCD concentration in sediment from Yangtze River Delta and the highest detection frequency of HBCD in Pearl River drainage basins suggested that the industrial and urban activities could evidently affect the HBCD distribution. HBCD diastereoisomer profiles showed that γ-HBCD dominated in most of the sediment samples, followed by α- and β-HBCD, which was consistent with those in the commercial HBCD mixtures. | 4 | Cholesterol transport through the peroxisome-ER membrane contacts tethered by PI(4,5)P2 and extended synaptotagmins显示文摘Most mammalian cells take up cholesterol from low-density lipoproteins(LDLs) via receptor-mediated endocytosis.After reaching lysosomes,LDL-derived cholesterol continues to transport to downstream organelles including the ER for specific structural and functional needs.Peroxisomes are recently found to receive cholesterol from lysosomes through lysosomeperoxisome membrane contacts.However,whether and how cholesterol is conveyed from peroxisomes to the ER remain unknown.Here,by combining high-resolution microscopic analyses and in vitro reconstitution of highly purified organelles or artificial liposomes,we demonstrate that peroxisomes form membrane contacts with the ER through the interaction between peroxisomal PI(4,5)P2 and ER-resident extended synaptotagmin-1,2 and 3(E-Syts).Depletion of peroxisomal PI(4,5)P2 or ESyts markedly decreases peroxisome-ER membrane contacts and induces cholesterol accumulation in lysosomes.Furthermore,we show that cholesterol is delivered from 3H-labeled peroxisomes or PI(4,5)P2-containing liposomes to the ER in vitro,and that the presence of peroxisomes augments cholesterol transfer from lysosomes to the ER.Together,our study reveals a new cholesterol transport pathway along the lysosome-peroxisome-ER membrane contacts in the cell. | Jian Xiao Jie Luo Ao Hu Ting Xiao Meixin Li Zekai Kong Luyi Jiang Zimu Zhou Yacheng Liao Chang Xie Beibei Chu Honghua Miao Boliang Li Xiongjie Shi Bao-Liang Song | 2019 | Science China(Life Sciences)2019,62,9: | 8 |
| 5 | Study of a Horizontal Shear Line over the Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau and the Impact of Diabatic Heating on Its Evolution显示文摘Based on the 4 times daily 0.75°× 0.75° ERA-Interim data, the structural evolution of a Qinghai–Tibetan Plateau horizontal(east–west-oriented) shear line(TSL) during 15–19 August 2015 and the effect of diabatic heating on its evolution were analyzed. The results show that the TSL possessed a vertical thickness of up to 1.5 km(approximately 600–450 h Pa), and was baroclinic in nature. Weak ascending motions occurred near the TSL, accompanied with more significant gradients in dew point temperature than in temperature. The TSL was characterized by diurnal variations in its appearance and structure. It was relatively full in shape(broken) and was the lowest(highest) in vertical extent at 0000(1800) UTC, and veered clockwise(anticlockwise) during 0000–0600(1200–1800) UTC. When the north–south span of the TSL increased, it was prone to fracturing; and it disappeared when the dew point temperature gradients to its either side decreased. When the TSL moved northward(southward), its western(eastern) section broke up, while the eastern(western) section inclined to regenerate or merge. The TSL tended to move towards the positive vorticity areas with significant increases in vorticity. When the positive vorticity center moved down, the height of TSL decreased. | 6 | Determination of PCDD/Fs and dioxin-like PCBs in food and feed using gas chromatography-triple quadrupole mass spectrometry显示文摘A method was developed on a gas chromatograph coupled to a triple quadrupole mass spectrometer(GC-MS/MS) for trace level determination of polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins/dibenzofurans(PCDD/Fs) and dioxin-like polychlorinated biphenyls(DL-PCBs) in food and feed. The results demonstrated good sensitivity and repeatability for PCDD/Fs and DL-PCBs at an extremely low level(10 pg mL^(-1) for 2,3,7,8-TCDD/F), as well as wide linear response of over 3 or 4 orders of magnitude in concentration ranges; 0.5–200 ng mL^(-1) for PeCDD/F and 0.2–2000 ng mL^(-1) for DL-PCBs. The method detection limits for PCDD/Fs and DL-PCBs were in the range from 0.018–0.17 pg g^(-1) to 0.13–0.36 pg g^(-1), respectively. The performance of the GC-MS/MS for food and feed sample analysis showed high precision and accuracy compared to the high resolution gas chromatograph/high resolution mass spectrometer. | 8 | A model to assess fundamental and realized carrying capacities of island ecosystem:A case study in the southern Miaodao Archipelago of China显示文摘Research on carrying capacity, aiming at maintaining the limited ability of the Earth's life supporting system to sustain human development, requires a comprehensive and ecosystem-based approach to monitor and assess the localized sustainability of coupled social and ecological systems. A definition termed the ecosystem-based carrying capacity of island(EBCCI) was developed in this paper of which the indices of fundamental and realized carrying capacities of island(FCCI and RCCI) were highlighted to emphasize the inter-dependencies between social systems and ecological systems. In order to avoid the difficulties and uncertainties of direct assessment, the related assessment model was established on the basis of synthetic evaluation of inherent and external factors affecting the EBCCI. The southern Miaodao Archipelago(SMA) located in the intersection of the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, China, was taken as a typical example to acquire integrated recognition of the island ecosystem and its carrying capacity so as to discuss its sustainable development. The index scores of FCCI and RCCI in the SMA were 0.818 5 and 0.712 9 out of 1.0, respectively, with acceptable uncertainties. The results showed a relatively well capacity to sustain progress and relatively well realization of the carrying capacity of island ecosystem, owing to a well capacity of ecologically regulating, general performance of both ecologically supporting and resource provisioning, and a relatively high level of social supporting system. The study implied that it was critical to optimize the inter-dependencies and to sustain the relative balance between social systems and ecological systems so as to improve the RCCI and further facilitate the sustainability of SMA. | 9 | BP neural network based flexural strength prediction of open-porous Cu-SnTi composites显示文摘Open-porous Cu-Sn-Ti composites are fabricated by the space holder sintering technique using carbamide particles as space-holder material. Generally, the mechanical properties of open-porous sintered composites,especially the flexural strength affect the machine tools wear significantly. In this paper, a back-propagation(BP)artificial neural network with genetic algorithm(GA) and particle swarm optimization algorithm(PSOA) was then employed to relate the composition parameters(pore size, porosity and concentration of molybdenum disulfide particles) to the flexural strength. Furthermore, a comparison of predicted and experimental results using GA-BP and PSOA-BP models was conducted and good prediction accuracy was obtained. The study showed that PSOA-BP models could achieve better prediction results in aspects of the higher convergence velocity, lower relative errors of the flexure strength utilizing GA-BP models. | 10 | Spatiotemporal heterogeneity of phytoplankton diversity and its relation to water environmental factors in the southern waters of Miaodao Archipelago,China显示文摘To study the water quality influenced by the anthropogenic activities and its impact on the phytoplankton diversity in the surface waters of Miaodao Archipelago, the spatiotemporal variations in phytoplankton communities and the environmental properties of the surface waters surrounding the Five Southern Islands of Miaodao Archipelago were investigated, based on seasonal field survey conducted from November 2012 to August 2013. During the survey, a total of 109 phytoplankton species from 3 groups were identified in the southern waters of Miaodao Archipelago, of which 77 were diatoms, 29 were dinoflagellates, and 3 were chrysophytes. Species number was higher in winter(73), moderate in autumn(70), but lower in summer(31) and spring(27). The species richness index in autumn(5.92) and winter(4.28) was higher than that in summer(2.83) and spring(1.41).The Shannon-Wiener diversity index was high in autumn(2.82), followed by winter(1.99) and summer(1.92), and low in spring(0.07). The species evenness index in autumn(0.46) and summer(0.39) was higher than that in winter(0.32) and spring(0.02). On the basis of principal component analysis(PCA) and redundancy analysis(RDA), we found that dissolved inorganic nitrogen(DIN) and chemical oxygen demand(COD) in spring, COD in summer, p H in autumn, and salinity and oil pollutant in winter, respectively, showed the strongest association with the distribution of phytoplankton diversity. | 12 | Guidance Navigation and Control for Chang’E-5 Powered Descent显示文摘To achieve the goal of collecting lunar samples and return to the Earth for the Chang’E-5 spacecraft,the lander and ascender module(LAM)of the Chang’E-5 spacecraft successfully landed on the lunar surface on 1 Dec.,2020.The guidance,navigation,and control(GNC)system is one of the critical systems to perform this task.The GNC system of previous missions,Chang’E-3 and Chang’E-4,provides the baseline design for the Chang’E-5 LAM,and the new characteristics of the LAM,like larger mass and liquid sloshing,also bring new challenges for the GNC design.The GNC design for the descent and landing is presented in this paper.The guidance methods implemented in the powered descent are presented in detail for each phase.Propellant consumption and hazard avoidance should be particularly considered in the design.A reconfigurable attitude control is adopted which consists of the quaternion partition control,phase and gain stabilization filter,and dual observer.This controller could provide fast attitude maneuver and better system robustness.For the navigation,an intelligent heterogeneous sensor data fusion method is presented,and it is applied for the inertial measurement unit and velocimeter data.Finally,the flight results of the LAM are shown.Navigation sensors were able to provide valid measurement data during descent,and the thrusters and the main engine operated well as expected.Therefore,a successful soft lunar landing was achieved by the LAM. | Honghua Zhang Ji Li Zeguo Wang Yifeng Guan | 2021 | Space(Science & Technology)2021,,1: | 3 |

| 15 | Photosynthesis of Populus euphratica and its response to elevated CO_2 concentration in an arid environment显示文摘The photosynthetic characterization of Populus euphratica and its response to the elevated carbon dioxide concentration ([CO2]) were analyzed based on its net photosynthetic rate (Pn), stomatal conductance (gs), intercellular CO2 concentration (Ci), transpiration rate (Tr), and water use effciency (WUE) at different groundwater depths measured by a portable gas exchange system (LI-6400) in the lower reaches of the Tarim River. The results showed that the elevation of [CO2] decreased the gs, and increased the Pn, Ci and WUE of P. euphratica. However, the effects of the elevated [CO2] on gs, Pn, Ci and WUE varied considerably with groundwater depth. The response of photosynthesis to rising [CO2] was stronger at the greater groundwater depth (more than 6 m) than that at the shallower groundwater depth (less than 6 m). The critical groundwater depth required to maintain the normal survival of P. euphratica was less than 6 m.
