1Diabetes and cancer: Epidemiological and biological links显示文摘The incidence of diabetes and cancer has increased significantly in recent years.Furthermore,there are many common risk factors for both diabetes and cancer,such as obesity,sedentary lifestyle,smoking,and ageing.A large body of epidemiological evidence has indicated that diabetes is considered as an independent risk factor for increased rates of heterogeneous types of cancer occurrence and death.The incidence and mortality of various types of cancer,such as pancreas,liver,colorectal,breast,endometrial,and bladder cancers,have a modest growth in diabetics.However,diabetes may work as a protective factor for prostate cancer.Although the underlying biological mechanisms have not been totally understood,studies have validated that insulin/insulin-like growth factor(IGF)axis(including insulin resistance,hyperinsulinemia,and IGF),hyperglycemia,inflammatory cytokines,and sex hormones provide good circumstances for cancer cell proliferation and metastasis.Insulin/IGF axis activates several metabolic and mitogenic signaling pathways;hyperglycemia provides energy for cancer cell growth;inflammatory cytokines influence cancer cell apoptosis.Thus,these three factors affect all types of cancer,while sex hormones only play important roles in breast cancer,endometrial cancer,and prostate cancer.This minireview consolidates and discusses the epidemiological and biological links between diabetes and various types of cancer.Mina Wang Yingying Yang Zehuan Liao 2020World Journal of Diabetes2020,11,6:10
2A nonlinear rheological model of backfill material for retaining roadways and the analysis of its stability显示文摘The long-term stability of backfill material is the key to retaining roadways successfully.In order to study the rheological deformation of backfill material and its long-term stability,given the visco-elastoplastic properties of this material,we introduced a softening and a hardening function for a new nonlinear rheological model with time-varying parameters.Based on this,we presented the instability condition of this model by using the principle of minimum potential energy.Combined with engineering practice,we calculated the unstable time period of backfill material.The results show that the time of instability of the backfill material relate to the initial parameters of the material,the coefficients decided by temperature and the ratio of the plastic zone of the backfill material.Based on the results of our analysis from the point of view of energy,we can quickly obtain the time of instability of this model from our graphical analysis.The time of instability of the backfill material obtained from our investigation coincides with an actual project.Zhang Tianjun Ma Mina Wang Hongsheng Xu Hongjie 2011Mining Science and Technology2011,21,4:5

4Highly transmitted silver nanowires-SWCNTs conductive flexible film by nested density structure and aluminum-doped zinc oxide capping layer for flexible amorphous silicon solar cells显示文摘Indium tin oxide(ITO)is widely used in transparent conductive films(TCFs);however,several disadvan-tages,such as high cost and toxicity of indium,limit its applications.Therefore,it is necessary to develop other materials that can replace ITO.Silver nanowires or single walled carbon nanotubes(SWCNTs)have attracted considerable interest owing to their unique electrical,optical,and thermal stabilities,and thus,they are ideal for transparent electrodes for flexible or stretchable devices.In this study,we develop a novel architecture of composite TCFs on a polyethylene naphthalate(PEN)flexible substrate.Herein,the silver nanowires-SWCNTs films with nested density structure were fabricated through ultrasonic spraying technology by varying the spraying width.For achieving enhanced transmittance,we combined the larger irregular grids and holes with fewer nanowires stacked in the longitudinal direction,more optical chan-nels,and good carrier transport.Thereafter,aluminum-doped zinc oxide(AZO)was used as capping to the structure for enhancing the optical properties of the TCFs.The silver nanowires-SWCNTs/AZO(ASA)bilayer was obtained in the optimized architecture,which showed superior optoelectronic performance to that shown by commercial ITO with a high optical transmittance of 92%at the wavelength of 550 nm and low sheet resistance of 17/sq.In the specially structured conductive film,the significant improvement in the transmittance and uniformity of the sheet resistance was attributed to the effective nanowire junc-tion contact compared to that in ordinary structure of silver nanowires,which reduced the mean density of small clusters of nanowires.Compared with the silver nanowires-SWCNTs films,the ASA bilayer film exhibited excellent resistance to boiling,mechanical bending(10,000 cycles),and CO_(2)plasma.Moreover,the sheet resistance of ASA changed slightly after the tape tests,thereby illustrating a strong adhesion to the PEN substrate after the enclosure of AZO.Meanwhile,the AZO capping layer can enhance the op-tical transmittance between 600 and 1500 nm.In addition,the amorphous silicon photovoltaic devices with flexible ASA TCFs exhibited a power conversion efficiency(PCE)of 8.67%.After bending for 3000 times,the PCE was decreased to 8.20%,thereby demonstrating the potential of developed films to replace traditional ITO.Shunliang Gao Xiaohui Zhao Qi Fu Tianchi Zhang Jun Zhu Fuhua Hou Jian Ni Chengjun Zhu Tiantian Li Yanlai Wang Vignesh Murugadoss Gaber A.M.Mersal Mohamed M.Ibrahim Zeinhom M.El-Bahy Mina Huang Zhanhu Guo 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,31:2
5Ag nanoparticles preparation and their light trapping performance显示文摘Ag nanoparticles were fabricated on Si substrates by radio-frequency magnetron sputtering and thermal annealing treatments.It was found that Ag nanoparticles are ellipsoid at low annealing temperature,but the axis ratio decreases with the increase of annealing temperature,and a shape transformation from ellipsoid to sphere occurs when the temperature increases to a critical point.The experimental results showed that the surface plasmon resonances depend greatly on the nanoparticles'shape and size,which is in accordance with the theoretical calculation based on discrete dipole approximation.The results of forward-scattering efficiency(FSE) and light trapping spectrum(LTS) showed that Ag nanoparticles annealed at 400°C could strongly enhance the light harvest than those annealed at 300 and 500°C,and that the LTS peak intensity of the former is 1.7 and 1.5 times stronger than those of the later two samples,respectively.The conclusions obtained in this paper showed that Ag ellipsoid nanoparticles with appropriate size is more favorable for enhancing the light trapping.BAI YiMing WANG Jun YIN ZhiGang CHEN NuoFu ZHANG XingWang FU Zhen YAO JianXi LI Ning HE HaiYang GULI MiNa 2013Science China(Technological Sciences)2013,56,1:2
6Protein hairy enhancer of split-1 expression during differentiation of muscle-derived stem cells into neuron-like cells显示文摘Muscle-derived stem cells were isolated from the skeletal muscle of Sprague-Dawley neonatal rats aged 3 days old. Cells at passage 5 were incubated in Dulbecco's modified Eagle's medium supplemented with 10% (v/v) fetal bovine serum, 20 μg/L nerve growth factor, 20 μg/L basic fibroblast growth factor and 1% (v/v) penicillin for 6 days. Cells presented with long processes, similar to nerve cells. Connections were formed between cell processes. Immunocytochemical staining with neuron specific enolase verified that cells differentiated into neuron-like cells. Immunofluorescence cytochemistry and western blot results revealed that the expression of protein hairy enhancer of split-1 was significantly reduced. 11Steerable merging bound states in the continuum on a quasi-flatband of photonic crystal slabs without breaking symmetry显示文摘Optical resonators with high quality(Q)factors are paramount for the enhancement of light–matter interactions in engineered photonic structures,but their performance always suffers from the scattering loss caused by fabrication imperfections.Merging bound states in the continuum(BICs)provide us with a nontrivial physical mechanism to overcome this challenge,as they can significantly improve the Q factors of quasi-BICs.However,most of the reported merging BICs are found atΓpoint(the center of the Brillouin zone),which intensively limits many potential applications based on angular selectivity.To date,studies on manipulating merging BICs at off-Γpoint are always accompanied by the breaking of structural symmetry that inevitably increases process difficulty and structural defects to a certain extent.Here,we propose a scheme to construct merging BICs at almost an arbitrary point in momentum space without breaking symmetry.Enabled by the topological features of BICs,we merge four accidental BICs with one symmetry-protected BIC at theΓpoint and merge two accidental BICs with opposite topological charges at the off-Γpoint only by changing the periodic constant of a photonic crystal slab.Furthermore,the position of off-Γmerging BICs can be flexibly tuned by the periodic constant and height of the structure simultaneously.Interestingly,it is observed that the movement of BICs occurs in a quasi-flatband with ultra-narrow bandwidth.Therefore,merging BICs in a tiny band provide a mechanism to realize more robust ultrahigh-Q resonances that further improve the optical performance,which is limited by wide-angle illuminations.Finally,as an example of application,effective angle-insensitive second-harmonic generation assisted by different quasi-BICs is numerically demonstrated.Our findings demonstrate momentum-steerable merging BICs in a quasi-flatband,which may expand the application of BICs to the enhancement of frequency-sensitive light–matter interaction with angular selectivity.XIN QI JIAJU WU FENG WU MINA REN QIAN WEI YUFEI WANG HAITAO JIANG YUNHUI LI ZHIWEI GUO YAPING YANG WANHUA ZHENG YONG SUN HONG CHEN 2023Photonics Research2023,11,7:0

13Observation of maximal intrinsic chirality empowered by dual quasi-bound states in the continuum in a planar metasurface显示文摘Metasurfaces with spin-selective transmission play an increasingly critical role in realizing optical chiral responses,especially for strong intrinsic chirality,which is limited to complex three-dimensional geometry.In this paper,we propose a planar metasurface capable of generating maximal intrinsic chirality and achieving dual-band spinselective transmission utilizing dual quasi-bound states in the continuum(quasi-BICs)caused by the structural symmetry breaking.Interestingly,the value of circular dichroism(CD)and the transmittance of two kinds of circular polarization states can be arbitrarily controlled by tuning the asymmetry parameter.Remarkable CD approaching unity with the maximum transmittance up to 0.95 is experimentally achieved in the dual band.Furthermore,assisted by chiral BICs,the application in polarization multiplexed near-field image display is also exhibited.Our work provides a new avenue to flexibly control intrinsic chirality in planar structure and offers an alternative strategy to develop chiral sensing,multiband spin-selective transmission,and high-performance circularly polarized wave detection.The basic principle and design method of our experiments in the microwave regime can be extended to other bands,such as the terahertz and infrared wavelengths.XIN QI JIAJU WU FENG WU SONG ZHAO CHAO WU YUEYANG MIN MINA REN YUFEI WANG HAITAO JIANG YUNHUI LI ZHIWEI GUO YAPING YANG WANHUA ZHENG HONG CHEN YONG SUN 2024Photonics Research2024,12,2:0
14COVID-19 associated liver injury:An updated review on the mechanisms and management of risk groups显示文摘Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)has been associated with various liver injury cases worldwide.To date,the prevalence,mechanism,clinical manifestations,diagnosis,and outcomes of COVID-19-induced liver injury in various at-risk groups are not well defined.Liver injury may arise in the prevention and treatment of COVID-19 from direct causes such as viral infection and indirect causes such as systemic inflammation,hypoxic changes,and drugs that exacerbate any pre-existing liver disease.Studies have found that patients with underlying liver disease are at higher risk of COVID-19-induced liver injury.Certain condition of cardiopulmonary and metabolic diseases and vulnerable stages in lifespan may also involve in the development of COVID-19-induced liver injury.This review summarized studies of COVID-19-induced liver injury in different at-risk groups regarding their clinical characteristics,parameters,and correlations of the severity with these indicators and signs as well as potential treatment suggestions,to increase attention to physiological and pathological conditions and continue liver function monitoring as they can help in strengthening early supportive treatment and reducing the incidence of adverse outcomes.Yue Shi Mina Wang Liqun Wu Xuexin Li Zehuan Liao 2023Liver Research2023,7,3:0
15Efficacy Differences of First-line EGFR-TKIs Alone vs in Combination with Chemotherapy in Advanced Lung Adenocarcinoma Patients with Sensitive EGFR Mutation and Concomitant Non-EGFR Genetic Alterations显示文摘Background and objective:Epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)mutations are often associated with non-EGFR genetic alterations,which maybe a reason for the poor efficacy of EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs).Here we conducted this study to explore whether EGFR-TKIs combined with chemotherapy would benefit advanced lung adenocarcinoma patients with both sensitive EGFR mutation and concomitant non-EGFR genetic alterations.Materials and methods:Cases of advanced lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR mutation combined with concomitant nonEGFR genetic alterations were retrospectively collected.And the patients were required to receive first-line EGFR-TKIs and chemotherapy combination or EGFR-TKIs monotherapy.Demographic,clinical and pathological data were collected,and the electronic imaging data were retrieved to evaluate the efficacy and time of disease progression.Survival data were obtained through face-to-face or telephone follow-up.The differences between the two groups in objective response rate(ORR),disease control rate(DCR),progression-free survival(PFS)and overall survival(OS)were investigated.Results:107 patients were included,including 63 cases in the combination group and 44 cases in the monotherapy group.The ORR were 78%and 50%(P=0.003),and DCR were 97%and 77%(P=0.002),respectively.At a median follow-up of 13.7 mon,a PFS event occurred in 38.1%and 81.8%of patients in the two groups,with median PFS of18.8 mon and 5.3 mon,respectively(P<0.000,1).Median OS was unreached in the combination group,and 27.8 mon in the monotherapy group(P=0.31).According to the Cox multivariate regression analysis,combination therapy was an independent prognostic factor of PFS.Conclusion:In patients with EGFR-mutant advanced lung adenocarcinoma with concomitant non-EGFR genetic alterations,combination of TKIs and chemotherapy was significantly superior to EGFR-TKIs monotherapy,which should be the preferred treatment option.Guowei ZHANG Ruirui CHENG Yuanyuan NIU Huijuan WANG Xiangtao YAN Mina ZHANG Xiaojuan ZHANG Jinpo YANG Chunhua WEI Zhiyong MA 2022中国肺癌杂志2022,25,9:0
