Highly Efficient and Stable FAPbI_(3) Perovskite Solar Cells and Modules Based on Exposure of the(011)Facet显示文摘Perovskite crystal facets greatly impact the performance and stability of their corresponding photovoltaic devices.Compared to the(001)facet,the(011)facet yields better photoelectric properties, including higher conductivity and enhanced charge carrier mobility.Thus,achieving(011)facet-exposed films is a promising way to improve device performance. However, the growth of(011)facets is energetically unfavorable in FAPbI_(3) perovskites due to the influence of methylammonium chloride additive.Here,1-butyl-4-methylpyridinium chloride([4MBP]Cl)was used to expose(011)facets.The[4MBP]^(+)cation selectively decreases the surface energy of the(011)facet enabling the growth of the(011)plane.The[4MBP]^(+)cation causes the perovskite nuclei to rotate by 45°such that(011)crystal facets stack along the out-of-plane direction.The(011)facet has excellent charge transport properties and can achieve better-matched energy level alignment. In addition,[4MBP]Cl increases the activation energy barrier for ion migration, suppressing decomposition of the perovskite. As a result,a small-size device(0.06 cm2)and a module(29.0 cm2)based on exposure of the(011)facet achieved power conversion efficiencies of 25.24%and 21.12%,respectively.Kai Zhang Bin Ding Chenyue Wang Pengju Shi Xianfu Zhang Cheng Liu Yi Yang Xingyu Gao Rui Wang Li Tao Keith G.Brooks Songyuan Dai Paul J.Dyson Mohammad Khaja Nazeeruddin Yong Ding 2023Nano-Micro Letters2023,15,9:1

Uptake of prostate cancer screening and associated factors among Chinese men aged 50 or more: a population-based survey显示文摘Objective: To investigate the uptake rate of prostate specific antigen(PSA) testing among Hong Kong Chinese males aged 50 or above, and identify factors associated with the likelihood of undergoing a PSA test. Methods: A population-based telephone survey was conducted in Hong Kong in 2007. The survey covered demographic information, perceived health status, use of complementary therapy, cancer screening behavior, perceived susceptibility to cancer and family history of cancer. Descriptive statistics, percentages and logistic regression analysis were used for data analysis. Results: A total of 1,002 men aged 50 or above took part in the study(response rate =67%), and the uptake rate of PSA testing was found to be 10%. Employment status, use of complementary therapy, perceiving regular visits to a doctor as good for health and the recommendations of health professionals were significant factors associated with PSA testing. Conclusion: The uptake rate of PSA testing in the study population was very low. Among all the factors identified, recommendations from health professionals had the strongest association with the uptake of PSA testing, and they should therefore take an active role in educating this population about cancer prevention and detection.Winnie K.W.So Kai Chow Choi Winnie P.Y.Tang Paul C.W.Lee Ann T.Y.Shiu Simone S.M.Ho Helen Y.L.Chan Wendy W.T.Lam William B.Goggins Carmen W.H.Chan 2014Cancer Biology & Medicine2014,11,1:1

The Ubiquitin E3 Ligase PUB17 Positively Regulates Immunity by Targeting a Negative Regulator, KH17, for Degradation显示文摘Ubiquitination is a post-translational modification that regulates many processes in plants.Several ubiquitin E3 ligases act as either positive or negative regulators of immunity by promoting the degradation of different substrates.StPUB17 is an E3 ligase that has previously been shown to positively regulate immunity to bacteria, fungi and oomycetes, including the late blight pathogen Phytophthora infestans.Silencing of StPUB17 promotes pathogen colonization and attenuates Cf4/avr4 cell death.Using yeast-2-hybrid and co-immunoprecipitation we identified the putative K-homology(KH)RNA-binding protein(RBP),StKH17,as a candidate substrate for degradation by StPUB17.StKH17 acts as a negative regulator of immunity that promotes P.infestans infection and suppresses specific immune pathways.A KH RBP domain mutant of StKH17(StKH17GDDG)is no longer able to negatively regulate immunity, indicating that RNA binding is likely required for StKH17 function. As StPUB17 is a known target of the ubiquitin E3 ligase,StPOB1,we reveal an additional step in an E3 ligase regulatory cascade that controls plant defense.Hazel McLellan Kai Chen Qin He Xintong Wu Petra C.Boevink Zhendong Tian Paul R.J.Birch 2020Plant Communications2020,1,4:1
Challenges to quantitative applications of Landsat observations for the urban thermal environment显示文摘Since the launch of its first satellite in 1972, the Landsat program has operated continuously for more than forty years. A large data archive collected by the Landsat program significantly benefits both the academic community and society. Thermal imagery from Landsat sensors, provided with relatively high spatial resolution, is suitable for monitoring urban thermal environment. Growing use of Landsat data in monitoring urban thermal environment is demonstrated by increasing publications on this subject, especially over the last decade. Urban thermal environment is usually delineated by land surface temperature(LST). However, the quantitative and accurate estimation of LST from Landsat data is still a challenge, especially for urban areas. This paper will discuss the main challenges for urban LST retrieval, including urban surface emissivity, atmospheric correction, radiometric calibration, and validation. In addition, we will discuss general challenges confronting the continuity of quantitative applications of Landsat observations. These challenges arise mainly from the scan line corrector failure of the Landsat 7 ETM + and channel differences among sensors. Based on these investigations, the concerns are to:(1) show general users the limitation and possible uncertainty of the retrieved urban LST from the single thermal channel of Landsat sensors;(2) emphasize efforts which should be done for the quantitative applications of Landsat data; and(3) understand the potential challenges for the continuity of Landsat observation(i.e., thermal infrared) for global change monitoring, while several climate data record programs being in progress.Feng Chen Song Yang Kai Yin Paul Chan 2017Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,9:1

The role of polysulfide-saturation in electrolytes for high power applications of real world Li-S pouch cells显示文摘The lithium-sulfur(Li-S)technology is the most promising candidate for next-generation batteries due to its high theoretical specific energy and steady progress for applications requiring lightweight batteries such as aviation or heavy electric vehicles. For these applications, however, the rate capability of Li-S cells requires significant improvement.Advanced electrolyte formulations in Li-S batteries enable new pathways for cell development and adjustment of all components. However, their rate capability at pouch cell level is often neither evaluated nor compared to state of the art(SOTA)LiTFSI/dimethoxyethane/dioxolane(LITFSI:lithium-bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide)electrolyte.Herein,the combination of the sparingly polysulfide(PS)solvating hexylmethylether/1,2-dimethoxyethane(HME/DME)electrolyte and highly conductive carbon nanotube Buckypaper(CNT-BP)with low porosity was evaluated in both coin and pouch cells and compared to dimethoxyethane/dioxolane reference electrolyte. An advanced sulfur transfer melt infiltration was employed for cathode production with CNT-BP.The Li+ion coordination in the HME/DME electrolyte was investigated by nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)and Raman spectroscopy.Additionally, ionic conductivity and viscosity was investigated for the pristine electrolyte and a polysulfide-statured solution. Both electrolytes,DME/DOL-1/1(DOL:1,3-dioxolane)and HME/DME-8/2,are then combined with CNT-BP and transferred to multi-layered pouch cells. This study reveals that the ionic conductivity of the electrolyte increases drastically over state of(dis)charge especially for DME/DOL electrolyte and lean electrolyte regime leading to a better rate capability for the sparingly polysulfide solvating electrolyte. The evaluation in prototype cells is an important step towards bespoke adaption of Li-S batteries for practical applications.Tom Boenke Sebastian Kirchhoff Florian SReuter Florian Schmidt Christine Weller Susanne Dörfler Kai Schwedtmann Paul Härtel Thomas Abendroth Holger Althues Jan J.Weig Stefan Kaskel 2023Nano Research2023,16,6:0
