1Characterization of Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Clinical Specimens by Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-flight Mass Spectrometry显示文摘Objective To develop a matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) approach to identify Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) and differentiate methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA) from methicillin-sensitive S. aureus (MSSA). Methods A total of 100 S. aureus strains isolated from clinical specimens and farm workers were collected and analyzed by MALDI-TOF-MS. And data obtained were interpreted with biotyper software. Results Ninety-two strains were identified by MALDI-TOF-MS as S. aureus at a level of secure genus and probable species, and 4 strains were identified at probable genus after their cultivation, spectral collection and data preprocessing. One strain was identified as S. aureus with lower score. It was revealed that identification of S. aureus by MALDI-TOF-MS was highly correlated with typing by biochemical and serological methods with an accuracy as high as 97%. The biotyper cluster analysis showed that 100 isolates were divided into 2 types at the distance level of 400. Higher peak intensity in the mass of both 3784 Da and 5700 Da was observed in MRSA, whereas that was absent from MSSA. 3Altered Resting-State Signals in Patients with Acute Stroke In or Under the Thalamus显示文摘Previous studies have suggested that cortical functional reorganization is associated with motor recovery after stroke and that normal afferent sensory information is very important in that process.In this study,we selected patients who had a stroke in or under the thalamus,with potentially impaired afferent sensory information and analyzed the differences between these patients and healthy controls at three levels:brain regions,the functional connectivity between brain areas,and the whole-brain functional network.Compared with healthy controls,regional homogeneities in the left middle temporal gyrus decreased and functional connectivity between the left middle temporal gyrus and the stroke area increased in the patients.However,there was no significant change in the wholebrain functional network.By focusing on stroke located in or under the thalamus,our study contributes to wider inquiries into understanding and treating stroke.Lijun Chen Chuanfu Li Jian Zhai Anqin Wang Qin Song Ying Liu Ru Ma Long Han Yamikani Ndasaukas Xiaoming Li Hai Li Xiaochu Zhang 2016Neuroscience Bulletin2016,32,6:6

8Fighting age-related orthopedic diseases: focusing on ferroptosis显示文摘Ferroptosis, a unique type of cell death, is characterized by iron-dependent accumulation and lipid peroxidation. It is closely related to multiple biological processes, including iron metabolism, polyunsaturated fatty acid metabolism, and the biosynthesis of compounds with antioxidant activities, including glutathione. In the past 10 years, increasing evidence has indicated a potentially strong relationship between ferroptosis and the onset and progression of age-related orthopedic diseases, such as osteoporosis and osteoarthritis. Therefore, in-depth knowledge of the regulatory mechanisms of ferroptosis in age-related orthopedic diseases may help improve disease treatment and prevention. This review provides an overview of recent research on ferroptosis and its influences on bone and cartilage homeostasis. It begins with a brief overview of systemic iron metabolism and ferroptosis,particularly the potential mechanisms of ferroptosis. It presents a discussion on the role of ferroptosis in age-related orthopedic diseases, including promotion of bone loss and cartilage degradation and the inhibition of osteogenesis. 10Lithium intercalation mechanism for β-SnSb in Sn-Sb thin films显示文摘Based on the first-principles plane wave pseudo-potential method, the electronic structure and electrochemical performance of LixSn4Sb4 (x=2, 4, 6, and 8) and LixSn12-xSb4 (x=9, 10, 11, and 12) phases were calculated. A Sn-Sb thin film on a Cu foil was also prepared by radio frequency magnetron sputtering. The surface morphology, composition, and lithium intercalation/extraction behavior of the fabricated film were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and cyclic voltammetry (CV). Lithium atoms can easily insert into and extract out of the β-SnSb cell due to the low lithium intercalation formation energy. It is found that lithium atoms first occupy the interstitial sites, and then Sn atoms at the lattice positions are replaced by excessive lithium. The dissociative Sn atoms continue to produce different Li-Sn phases, which will affect the electrode stability and lead to the undesirable effect due to their large volume expansion ratio. 16High fill factor over 82%enabled by a biguanide doping electron transporting layer in planar perovskite solar cells显示文摘N-type doping in electron transport materials is an effective way to improve the electron collection and enhance the performance of the perovskite solar cells (PSCs).Here,for the first time,an antibiotic and antimicrobial compound of 1-(o-Tolyl)biguanide (oTb) is used to dope the electron transport material of phenyl- C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM).The oTh doping into the PCBM can increase the conductivity and reduce the work function of the PCBM.The oTb doping can significantly enhance the fill factor (FF)of the perovskite solar cells with the structure of glass/ITO/NiO]MAPbI3/(oTb)PCBM/(PEIE)/Ag.For the cells without PEIE (polyethylenimine ethoxylated)coating,the oTb doping increases the FF from 0.57 to 0.73.S-shaped of the current density-voltage (J-V)characteristic under illumination is removed after the oTb doping.For the cells with PEIE coating between the (oTb)PCBM and Ag,the oTb doping increases the FF from 0.70 to 0.82.These results show the potential of the oTb as an n-dopant in the applications of perovskite solar cells.Ru GE Fei QIN Lin HU Sixing XIONG Yinhua ZHOU 2018Frontiers of Optoelectronics2018,11,4:1

18Comparable outcomes but higher risks of prolonged viral RNA shedding duration and secondary infection in cancer survivors with COVID-19: A multi-center, matched retrospective cohort study显示文摘Results Sixty-one cancer survivors and 183 matched non-cancer patients were screened from 2,828 COVID-19 infected patients admitted to 4 hospitals in Wuhan,China.The median ages of the cancer survivor cohort and non-cancer patient cohort were 64.0(55.0–73.0)and 64.0(54.0–73.5),respectively(P=0.909).Cancer survivors reported a higher incidence of symptom onset than non-cancer patients.Fever(80.3%vs.65.0%;P=0.026)was the most prevalent symptom,followed by cough(65.6%vs.37.7%;P<0.001),myalgia,and fatigue(45.9%vs.13.6%;P<0.001).The risks of the development of severe events(adjusted hazard ratio[AHR]=1.25;95%confidence interval[CI]:0.76–2.06;P=0.378)and mortality(relative risk[RR]=0.90,95%CI:0.79–1.04;P=0.416)in the cancer survivor cohort were comparable to those of the matched non-cancer patient cohort.However,the cancer survivor cohort showed a higher incidence of secondary infection(52.5%vs.30.1%;RR=1.47,95%CI:1.11–1.95;P=0.002)and a prolonged viral RNA shedding duration(32 days[IQR 26.0–46.0]vs.24.0 days[IQR 18.0–33.0];AHR=0.54;95%CI:0.38–0.80;P<0.05).Conclusion Compared to non-cancer patients,cancer survivors with COVID-19 exhibited a higher incidence of secondary infection,a prolonged period of viral shedding,but comparable risks of the development of severe events and mortality.It is helpful for clinicians to take tailored measures to treat cancer survivors with COVID-19.Hui Peng Sheng Wang Qi Mei Yuhong Dai Jian Li Ming Li Kathrin Halfter Xueyan Jiang Qin Huang Lei Wang Wei Wei Ru Liu Zhen cao Motuma Yigezu Daba Fangfang Wang Bingqing Zhou Hong Qiu Xianglin Yuan 2020Oncology and Translational Medicine2020,6,6:1
