In this study, partial sensory reinnervation of muscle spindles was observed after repair of 10-mm left tibial nerve defects using autologous vein grafts with end-to-end anastomosis in rats, and functional recovery was confirmed by electrophysiological studies. There were no significant differences in the number, size, or electrophysiological function of reinnervated muscle spindles between the two experimental groups. | 3 | BAALC-AS1/G3BP2/c-Myc feedback loop promotes cell proliferation in esophageal squamous cell carcinoma显示文摘Background:Long non-codingRNAs(lncRNAs)have been found to be involved in the development of many cancers.In this study,we aimed to identify the molecular mechanisms of lncRNA BAALC antisense RNA 1(BAALC-AS1)in regulating the malignancy of esophageal squamous cell carcinoma(ESCC).Methods:The expression of BAALC-AS1 in cancer patients was analyzed using a tissue microarray.The protein and RNA levels of BAALC-AS1 were determined by Western blotting analysis and quantitative reverse transcription-PCR(RT-qPCR),respectively.The cell proliferation was determined by cell viability assays,bromodeoxyuridine incorporation,and flow cytometry.The relationships among BAALC-AS1,RasGAPSH3 domain-binding protein 2(G3BP2),and c-Myc were determined using RNA immunoprecipitation,RNA pull-down assays,and luciferase assays.Results:The expression of BAALC-AS1 was highly up-regulated and associated with malignant phenotypes in ESCC tissues and cell lines.In vivo and in vitro assays showed that BAALC-AS1 promoted ESCC cell proliferation,migration,and invasion.BAALC-AS1 directly interacted with G3BP2,and thereby inhibited the degradation of c-Myc RNA 3’-UTR by G3BP2,thus leading to the accumulation of c-Myc expression.Additionally,c-Myc acted as a transcription factor that can induce the expression of BAALC-AS1 by directly binding to its promoter region.Conclusions:BAALC-AS1/G3BP2/c-Myc feedback loop plays a critical role in the development of ESCC,which might provide a novel therapeutic target and facilitate the development of new therapeutic strategies for the treatment of ESCC. | Hongyue Zhang Yan Wang Weimin Zhang Qingnan Wu Jiawen Fan Qimin Zhan | 2021 | Cancer Communications2021,41,3: | 7 |
| 4 | Migfilin promotes migration and invasion in glioma by driving EGFR and MMP-2 signalings:A positive feedback loop regulation显示文摘Glioma is the most common type of primary brain tumors in the central nervous system(CNS). Migfilin occurs in human glioma and enhances cellular motility via the epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)pathway. However, the underlying molecular mechanism is not fully understood. In this study, we found that Migfilin promoted matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2) activity, and restrained the expression of tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase 2(TIMP2), which is an MMP-2 inhibitor. Functional and structural studies showed that the LIM1 domain of Migfilin was required for Migfilin-mediated TIMP2 expression inhibition and MMP-2 activity, and was also necessary in promoting cell motility. Furthermore, Migfilininduced EGFR phosphorylation was greatly reduced by MMP-2 inhibitor(GM6001) or si RNA, while Migfilin-induced MMP-2 activation was also blocked by the EGFR inhibitor(AG1478) or si RNA. MMP-2 and EGFR inhibitors and their si RNAs can block Migfilin-induced migration and invasion, respectively.These results demonstrated that EGFR and MMP-2 signalings may form a positive feedback loop to enhance Migfilin-induced migration and invasion. Finally, we detected that the expression of Migfilin,EGFR phosphorylation(Tyr1173) and MMP-2 activity had a positive correlation in the clinical glioma sample. | 5 | Laboratory testing and molecular analysis of the resistance of wild and cultivated soybeans to cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera(Hübner)显示文摘Identifying a superior soybean variety with high defoliator resistance is important to avoid yield loss. Cotton bollworm(Helicoverpa armigera Hübner) is one of the major defoliators of soybean(Glycine max [L.] Merr.) worldwide. In this study, we evaluated the effect of H. armigera larvae on ED059, a wild soybean(Glycine soja Sieb. et Zucc.), and three cultivated soybean varieties: Tianlong 2, PI 535807, and PI 533604, in choice and no-choice assays. The percentage of ED059 leaflets consumed by H. armigera was lower than that of the three cultivated soybeans. Larvae that fed on ED059 exhibited low weight gain and high mortality rate.Waldbauer nutritional indices suggested that ED059 reduced the growth, consumption, and frass production of H. armigera larvae. Larvae that fed on ED059 showed lower efficiency of conversion of ingested and of digested food than those that fed on Tianlong 2 and PI 533604.However, they showed statistically similar consumption index and approximate digestibility compared with those fed on the three cultivated soybeans. Quantitative real-time PCR analysis revealed that 24 h after insect attack, ED059 had higher transcript levels of Kunitz trypsin inhibitor 3, Cysteine proteinase inhibitor 2, and Nerolidol synthase 1 but a lower transcript level of Pathogenesis-related protein 1 than Tianlong 2. The gene expression results were consistent with the presence of higher levels of jasmonic acid(JA) and transcript levels of the JA biosynthesis enzyme allene oxide cyclase 3 in ED059 than in Tianlong 2. | 6 | Famitinib in combination with concurrent chemoradiotherapy in patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma: a phase 1, open-label, dose-escalation Study显示文摘Background:Famitinib is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor against multiple targets,including vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2/3,platelet-derived growth factor receptor,and stem cell factor receptor(c-kit).Previous studies have demonstrated anti-tumour activities of famitinib against a wide variety of advanced-stage solid cancers.We aimed to determine the safety and efficacy of famitinib with concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT)in patients with locoregionally advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC).We also evaluated the feasibility of contrast-enhanced ultrasound(D-CEUS)as a predictor of early tumour response to famitinib and to correlate functional parameters with clinical efficacy.Methods:The trial was conducted in subjects with stage III or IVa-b NPC using a 3+3 design of escalating fami-tinib doses.Briefly,subjects received 2 weeks of famitinib monotherapy followed by 7 weeks of famitinib plus CCRT.D-CEUS of the neck lymph nodes was performed at day 0,8 and 15 after famitinib was administered before starting concurrent chemoradiotherapy.End points included safety,tolerability and anti-tumour activity.Results:Twenty patients were enrolled(six each for 12.5,16.5 and 20 mg and two for 25 mg).Two patients in the 25 mg cohort developed dose-limiting toxicities,including grade 4 thrombocytopenia and grade 3 hypertension.The most common grade 3/4 adverse events were leukopenia,neutropenia and radiation mucositis.D-CEUS tests showed that more than 60%of patients achieved a perfusion parameter response after 2 weeks taking famitinib alone,and the parameter response was associated with disease improvement.In the famitinib monotherapy stage,three patients(15%)showed partial responses.The complete response rate was 65%at the completion of treatment and 95%3 months after the treatment ended.After a median follow-up of 44 months,the 3-year progression-free survival(PFS)and distant metastasis-free survival were 70%and 75%,respectively.Subjects with a decrease of perfusion parameter response,such as peak intensity decreased at least 30%after 1 week of famitinib treatment,had higher 3-year PFS(90.9%vs.44.4%,95%CI 73.7%-100%vs.11.9%-76.9%,P<0.001)than those with an increase or a reduction of less than 30%.Conclusions:The recommended famitinib dose for phase II trial is 20 mg with CCRT for patients with local advanced NPC.D-CEUS is a reliable and early measure of efficacy for famitinib therapies.Further investigation is required to confirm the effects of famitinib plus chemoradiotherapy. | Qiuyan Chen Linquan Tang Na Liu Feng Han Ling Guo Shanshan Guo Jianwei Wang Huai Liu Yanfang Ye Lu Zhang Liting Liu Pan Wang Yingqin Li Qingmei He Xiaoqun Yang Qingnan Tang Yang Li YuJing Liang XueSong Sun Chuanmiao Xie Yunxian Mo Ying Guo Rui Sun Haoyuan Mo Kajia Cao Xiang Guo Musheng Zeng Haiqiang Mai Jun Ma | 2018 | Cancer Communications2018,38,1: | 6 |
| 7 | Alkynyl carbon materials as novel and efficient sorbents for the adsorption of mercury(Ⅱ) from wastewater显示文摘For the first time, a series of alkynyl carbon materials(ACMs) were prepared via the mechanochemical reaction of CaC_2 with six polyhalogenated precursors, namely CCl_4,C_2Cl_6, C_2Cl_4, C_6Cl_6, C_6Br_6, and C_(14)H_4Br_(10)(ACM-1, ACM-2, ACM-3, ACM-4, ACM-5, and ACM-6,respectively) and used for the adsorptive removal of mercury from aqueous solutions.Based on preliminary investigations, the adsorption of mercury on ACM-5 was studied in depth. Specifically, the effect of p H on mercury adsorptivity, adsorption kinetics,thermodynamics, isotherms, and recyclability was studied. The adsorptivity of mercury on ACMs was found to be closely related to the hydrocarbon precursor, specific surface area of sorbent, and the alkynyl content. ACM-5 showed the best performance and is among the best raw carbonaceous sorbents reported so far, with a Langmuir saturated adsorption capacity of 191.9 mg g^(-1). The promising mercury adsorption performance mainly arises from the strong Lewis soft acid–soft base interactions between the alkynyl groups and mercury ions. The adsorption isotherms could be satisfactorily correlated with the Langmuir equation. | 9 | Tribological Behavior of In Situ TiC/Graphene/Graphite/Ti6Al4V Matrix Composite Through Laser Cladding显示文摘The TiC/graphene/graphite/Ti6 Al4 V composite coating was prepared by laser cladding.The microstructure and tribological behavior of the coating were studied.The in situ reaction between graphene and Ti occurred,and feathery TiC was formed.The feathery TiC was homogeneously distributed betweenα’acicular martensites which was refined with the addition of graphene.Some graphene was transformed into allotrope graphite under the laser irradiation.The TiC hard particles and the self-lubrication of graphene/graphite improved the wear resistance of composite coating.The wear rate and friction coefficient of TiC/graphene/graphite/Ti6 Al4 V composite coating decreased with the increase in sliding speed,a mechanical mixing layer(MML)was formed on the wear surface of the composite coating under the frictional heat,which protected the substrate and reduced the contact.Because of the self-lubricating properties of graphene/graphite,interlayer sliding occurred easily,which also effectively reduced friction.The wear rate of TiC/graphene/graphite/Ti6 Al4 V composite coating increased with the increase in load,but the friction coefficient decreased.The plastic deformation of subsurface layer was more serious under high load,and a stable self-lubricating MML with a protective effect was formed between the wear interfaces,which reduced the friction coefficient.With the increase in load,the wear mechanism changed from abrasive and oxidation wear to delamination,fatigue and oxidation wear. | Zhanyong Zhao Lizheng Zhang Peikang Bai Wenbo Du Shaowei Wang Xiangyan Xu Qingnan Dong Yuxin Li Bing Han | 2021 | Acta Metallurgica Sinica(English Letters)2021,34,10: | 5 |
| 10 | Active spintronic-metasurface terahertz emitters with tunable chirality显示文摘The ability to generate and manipulate broadband chiral terahertz waves is essential for applications in material imaging,terahertz sensing,and diagnosis.It can also open up new possibilities for nonlinear terahertz spectroscopy and coherent control of chiral molecules and magnetic materials.The existing methods,however,often suffer from low efficiency,narrow bandwidth,or poor flexibility.Here,we propose a novel type of laser-driven terahertz emitters,consisting of metasurface-patterned magnetic multilayer heterostructures,that can overcome the shortcomings of the conventional approaches.Such hybrid terahertz emitters combine the advantages of spintronic emitters for being ultrabroadband,efficient,and highly flexible,as well as those of metasurfaces for the powerful control capabilities over the polarization state of emitted terahertz waves on an ultracompact platform.Taking a stripe-patterned metasurface as an example,we demonstrate the efficient generation and manipulation of broadband chiral terahertz waves.The ellipticity can reach>0.75 over a broad terahertz bandwidth(1 to 5 THz),representing a high-quality and efficient source for few-cycle circularly polarized terahertz pulses with stable carrier waveforms.Flexible control of ellipticity and helicity is also demonstrated with our systematic experiments and numerical simulations.We show that the terahertz polarization state is dictated by the interplay between laser-induced spintronic-origin currents and the screening charges/currents in the metasurfaces,which exhibits tailored anisotropic properties due to the predesigned geometric confinement effects.Our work opens a new pathway to metasurface-tailored spintronic emitters for efficient vector-control of electromagnetic waves in the terahertz regime. | Changqin Liu Shunjia Wang Sheng Zhang Qingnan Cai Peng Wang Chuanshan Tian Lei Zhou Yizheng Wu Zhensheng Tao | 2021 | Advanced Photonics2021,3,5: | 4 |

| 19 | Improved Visible Transparency of SiO_2/ZnO:Al/CeO_2-TiO_2/SiO_2 Multilayer Films with High UV Absorption and Infrared Reflection Rate显示文摘New visible transparent, UV absorption, and high infrared reflection properties have been realized by depositing multilayer Si O2/Zn O: Al/Ce O2-Ti O2/Si O2 films onto glass substrates at low temperature by radio frequency magnetron sputtering. Optimum thickness of Si O2, Zn O: Al(ZAO) and Ce O2-Ti O2(CTO) films were designed with the aid of thin film design software. The degree of antireflection can be controlled by adjusting the thickness and refractive index. The outer Si O2 film can diminish the interference coloring and increase the transparency; the inner Si O2 film improves the adhesion of the coating on the glass substrate and prevents Ca2+, Na+ in the glass substrate from entering the ZAO film. The average transmittance in the visible light range increases by nearly 18%-20%, as compared to double layer ZAO/CTO films. And the films display high infrared reflection rate of above 75% in the wavelength range of 10-25 μm and good UV absorption(> 98%) properties. These systems are easy to produce on a large scale at low cost and exhibit high mechanical and chemical durability.
