1Bph30confers resistance to brown planthopperby fortifying sclerenchyma in rice leaf sheaths显示文摘Phloem-feeding insects cause massive losses in agriculture and horticulture.Host plant resistance to phloem-feeding insects is often mediated by changes in phloem composition,which deter insect settling and feeding and decrease viability.Here,we report that rice plant resistance to the phloem-feeding brown planthopper(BPH)is associated with fortification of the sclerenchyma tissue,which is located just beneath the epidermis and a cell layer or two away from the vascular bundle in the rice leaf sheath.We found that BPHs prefer to feed on the smooth and soft region on the surface of rice leaf sheaths called the long-cell block.We identified Bph30 as a rice BPH resistance gene that prevents BPH stylets from reaching the phloem due to the fortified sclerenchyma.Bph30 is strongly expressed in sclerenchyma cells and enhances cellulose and hemicellulose synthesis,making the cell walls stiffer and sclerenchyma thicker.The structurally fortified sclerenchyma is a formidable barrier preventing BPH stylets from penetrating the leaf sheath tissues and arriving at the phloem to feed.Bph30 belongs to a novel gene family,encoding a protein with two leucine-rich domains.Another member of the family,Bph40,also conferred resistance to BPH.Collectively,the fortified sclerenchyma-mediated resistance mechanism revealed in this study expands our understanding of plant-insect interactions and opens a new path for controlling planthoppers in rice.Shaojie Shi Huiying Wang Lingyun Nie Di Tan Cong Zhou Qian Zhang YiLi Bo Du Jianping Guo Jin Huang DiWu Xiaohong Zheng Wei Guan Junhan Shan Lili Zhu Rongzhi Chen Longjian Xue Linda L.Walling Guangcun He 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,10:7

3Effects of redox potential on soil cadmium solubility:Insight into microbial community显示文摘Understanding the role of microbes in the solubility of cadmium(Cd) is of fundamental importance for remediation of Cd toxicity. The present study aimed to identify the microbes that involved in regulating Cd solubility and to reveal possible mechanisms. Therefore,microbial communities were investigated through high-throughput sequencing approach, the molecular ecological network was constructed and metagenomes were predicted. Our results indicated that redox conditions affected both the solubility of soil Cd and the microbial communities. Anaerobic microbes, such as Anaerolineaceae, did not only play important roles in shaping the microbial community in soils, but might also be involved in regulating the Cd solubility. Two possible mechanisms that how Anaerolineaceae involved in Cd solubility are(1) Anaerolineaceae are important organic matter degraders under anoxic conditions and(2) Anaerolineaceae can co-exist with methane metabolism microbes, while methane metabolism promotes the precipitation of soluble Cd. Thus, application of Anaerolineaceae in bioremediation of soil Cadmium contamination is a potential approach. 4Dynamic Responses of Rotor Drops onto Double-decker Catcher Bearing显示文摘In an active magnetic bearing(AMB) system,the catcher bearings(CBs) are indispensable to protect the rotor and stator in case the magnetic bearings fail.Most of the former researches associated with CBs are mainly focused on the dynamic responses of the rotor drops onto traditional single-decker catcher bearings(SDCBs).But because of the lower limited speed of SDCB,it cannot withstand the ultra high speed rotation after rotor drop.In this paper,based on the analysis of the disadvantages of SDCBs,a new type of double-decker catcher bearings(DDCBs) is proposed to enhance the CB work performance in AMB system.In order to obtain the accurate rotor movements before AMB failure,the dynamic characteristics of AMB are theoretically derived.Detailed simulation models containing rigid rotor model,contact model between rotor and inner race,DDCB force model as well as heating model after rotor drop are established.Then,using those established models the dynamic responses of rotor drops onto DDCBs and SDCBs are respectively simulated.The rotor orbits,contact forces,spin speeds of various parts and heat energies after AMB failure are mainly analyzed.The simulation results show that DDCBs can effectively improve the CBs limit rotational speed and reduce the following vibrations,impacts and heating.Finally,rotor drop experiments choosing different types of CBs are carried out on the established AMB test bench.Rotor orbits,inner race temperatures as well as the rotating speeds of both inner race and intermediate races after rotor drop are synchronously measured.The experiment results verify the advantages of DDCB and the correctness of theoretical analysis.The studies provide certain theoretical and experimental references for the application of DDCBs in AMB system.ZHU Yili JIN Chaowu XU Longxiang 2013Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2013,26,1:5

8Differences in rheological and fractal properties of conditioned and raw sewage sludge显示文摘Rheological tests for raw and conditioned activated sludge(AS) or anaerobic digested sludge(ADS) show that power-law relationships can be used to describe the evolution of several rheological parameters,i.e.,limiting viscosity(η∞),yield stress(τy),cohesion energy of the sludge network(Ec),and storage modulus(G'),with total suspended solid(TSS) content in raw and conditioned sludge.A gel-like structure that behaves similar to weak-link flocs/aggregates was observed in AS and ADS.As derived from the double-logarithmic plots of G'-TSS content,the mass fractal dimensions of the raw and conditioned AS or ADS flocs/aggregates were 2.70 and 2.53 or 2.85 and 2.79,respectively.The rheological tests also indicate that both polymer conditioning and increased TSS content led to improved elastic behavior,cohesion energy,and yield stress of the sludge network,as well as expanded the corresponding linear viscoelastic range.The porosity of AS or ADS flocs/aggregates will be improved by polymer conditioning.Hui Jin Yili Wang Ting Li Yujing Dong Junqing Li 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,6:1

12Repeatability and reproducibility of corneal higher-order aberrations measurements after small incision lenticule extraction using the Scheimpfug-Placido topographer显示文摘Background:To evaluate the precision of corneal higher-order aberrations measurements after small incision lenticule extraction(SMILE)using the Sirius Scheimpfug-Placido topographer(CSO,Italy).Methods:Seventy-fve eyes from 75 postoperative subjects were included in this prospective study.Three consecutive corneal aberrometric measurements were obtained with the Scheimpfug-Placido topographer by two experienced operators to assess intra-and inter-observer reproducibility.The within-subject standard deviation(Sw),test-retest repeatability(TRT)and the intraclass correlation coefcient(ICC)were calculated.Results:For intraobserver repeatability of anterior and total corneal aberrations,all ICCs were more than 0.922,except for trefoil(0.722 to 0.768).The ICCs of total root mean square(RMS),coma Z(3,±1),and spherical aberration Z(4,0)were over 0.810 while higher-order RMS,trefoil Z(3,±3),and astigmatism II Z(4,±2)were below 0.634 for posterior corneal surface aberrations.All Sw values for all types of aberrations were equal to or below 0.07μm.Regarding interobserver reproducibility,all TRT values were no more than 0.12μm,0.05μm,and 0.11μm for anterior,posterior,and total corneal aberrations,respectively.The ICC values ranged from 0.875 to 0.989,from 0.686 to 0.976 and over 0.834 for anterior,posterior,and total corneal aberrations,respectively.Conclusions:The repeatability of measurements of anterior and total corneal aberrations with the Sirius system in corneas after SMILE surgery was high,except for trefoil.There was some variability in posterior corneal aberrometric measurements.High reproducibility of corneal aberrometric measurements was observed between measurements of both examiners,except for trefoil,with poor to moderate reproducibility.Rui Ning Rongrong Gao David PPiñero Jun Zhang Qingyi Gao Yili Jin Yiran Wang Chenxiao Wang Jinhai Huang 2024Eye and Vision2024,10,1:0

14Astragaloside IV derivative HHQ16 ameliorates infarctioninduced hypertrophy and heart failure through degradation of lncRNA4012/9456显示文摘Reversing ventricular remodeling represents a promising treatment for the post-myocardial infarction(MI)heart failure(HF).Here,we report a novel small molecule HHQ16,an optimized derivative of astragaloside IV,which effectively reversed infarction-induced myocardial remodeling and improved cardiac function by directly acting on the cardiomyocyte to reverse hypertrophy.The effect of HHQ16 was associated with a strong inhibition of a newly discovered Egr2-affliated transcript Inc9456 in the heart.While minimally expressed in normal mouse heart,Inc9456 was dramatically upregulated in the heart subjected to left anterior descending coronary artery ligation(LADL)and in cardiomyocytes subjected to hypertrophic stimulation.The critical role of Inc9456 in cardiomyocyte hypertrophy was confirmed by specific overexpression and knockout in vitro.A physical interaction between Inc9456 and G3BP2 increased NF-kB nuclear translocation,triggering hypertrophy-related cascades.HHQ16 physically bound to Inc9456 with a high-affinity and induced its degradation.Cardiomyocyte-specific Inc9456 overexpression induced,but knockout prevented LADL-induced,cardiac hypertrophy and dysfunction.HHQ16 reversed the effect of Inc9456 overexpression while lost its protective role when Inc9456 was deleted,further confirming Inc9456 as the bona fide target of HHQ16.We further identified the human ortholog of Inc9456,also an Egr2-affliated transcript,Inc4012.Similarly,Inc4012 was significantly upregulated in hypertrophied failing hearts of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy.HHQ16 also specifically bound to Inc4012 and caused its degradation and antagonized its hypertrophic effects.Targeted degradation of pathological increased Inc4012/lnc9456 by small molecules might serve as a novel promising strategy to regress infarction-induced cardiac hypertrophy and HF.Jingjing Wan Zhen Zhang hennan Wu Saisai Tianbei Zang Ge Jin Qingyan Sun Pin Wang Xin Luan Yili Yang Xuelin Zhan Lingyu Linda Ye Dayue Darrel Duan Xia Liu Weidong Zhang 2023Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2023,8,11:0

17Flexible capacitive pressure sensor based on interdigital electrodes with porous microneedle arrays for physiological signal monitoring显示文摘Flexible pressure sensors have many potential applications in the monitoring of physiological signals because of their good biocompatibil-ity and wearability.However,their relatively low sensitivity,linearity,and stability have hindered their large-scale commercial application.Herein,aflexible capacitive pressure sensor based on an interdigital electrode structure with two porous microneedle arrays(MNAs)is pro-posed.The porous substrate that constitutes the MNA is a mixed product of polydimethylsiloxane and NaHCO3.Due to its porous and interdigital structure,the maximum sensitivity(0.07 kPa-1)of a porous MNA-based pressure sensor was found to be seven times higher than that of an imporous MNA pressure sensor,and it was much greater than that of aflat pressure sensor without a porous MNA structure.Finite-element analysis showed that the interdigital MNA structure can greatly increase the strain and improve the sensitivity of the sen-sor.In addition,the porous MNA-based pressure sensor was found to have good stability over 1500 loading cycles as a result of its bilayer parylene-enhanced conductive electrode structure.Most importantly,it was found that the sensor could accurately monitor the motion of afinger,wrist joint,arm,face,abdomen,eye,and Adam’s apple.Furthermore,preliminary semantic recognition was achieved by monitoring the movement of the Adam’s apple.Finally,multiple pressure sensors were integrated into a 33 array to detect a spatial pressure distribu-×tion.Compared to the sensors reported in previous works,the interdigital electrode structure presented in this work improves sensitivity and stability by modifying the electrode layer rather than the dielectric layer.Jiahui Xu Minghao Wang Minyi Jin Siyan Shang Chuner Ni Yili Hu Xun Sun Jun Xu Bowen Ji Le Li Yuhua Cheng Gaofeng Wang 2024Nanotechnology and Precision Engineering2024,7,1:0
18M2 macrophage-derived exosomes promote diabetic fracture healing by acting as an immunomodulator显示文摘Diabetes mellitus is a chronically inflamed disease that predisposes to delayed fracture healing.Macrophages play a key role in the process of fracture healing by undergoing polarization into either M1 or M2 subtypes,which respectively exhibit pro-inflammatory or anti-inflammatory functions.Therefore,modulation of macrophage polarization to the M2 subtype is beneficial for fracture healing.Exosomes perform an important role in improving the osteoimmune microenvironment due to their extremely low immunogenicity and high bioactivity.In this study,we extracted the M2-exosomes and used them to intervene the bone repair in diabetic fractures.The results showed that M2-exosomes significantly modulate the osteoimmune microenvironment by decreasing the proportion of M1 macrophages,thereby accelerating diabetic fracture healing.We further confirmed that M2-exosomes induced the conversion of M1 macrophages into M2 macrophages by stimulating the PI3K/AKT pathway.Our study offers a fresh perspective and a potential therapeutic approach for M2-exosomes to improve diabetic fracture healing.Yili Wang Qiushui Lin Hao Zhang Sicheng Wang Jin Cui Yan Hu Jinlong Liu Mengmeng Li Kun Zhang Fengjin Zhou Yingying Jing Zhen Geng Jiacan Su 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,10:0
