1Onset of the Kwangsian Orogeny as evidenced by biofacies and lithofacies显示文摘The onset timing of the Kwangsian Orogeny might differ among localities across South China.Refined stratigraphic works at different localities are necessary to reveal the details of this likely distinction.Recently,we recollected some graptolite specimens from the Ordovician Shixing and Longtouzhai formations(corresponding to the Longxi Formation of southern Jiangxi Province) at many localities in Guangdong Province.The palaeontological and biostratigraphical studies of these graptolite faunas indicate that the facies change from graptolitic shale to nearshore shallow-water,coarse clastics in Guangdong is slightly earlier than that in southern Jiangxi.This timing difference may imply a northward progression of the Kwangsian Orogeny.Based on the biostratigraphy and palaeontology of the Ordovician in the Zhujiang Basin(western part) and Chiangnan Slope Belt(including western Fujian,eastern Guangdong,northern Guangxi,northern Hunan,northeastern Jiangxi,southern Anhui,and western Zhejiang),the Sandbian to late Katian distribution and replacement of biofacies and lithofacies in the two regions are proposed and discussed,which display distinct features at different stages of the Kwangsian Orogeny.CHEN Xu ZHANG YuanDong FAN JunXuan TANG Lan SUN HaiQing 2012Science China Earth Sciences2012,55,10:31

3Spatial heterogeneity of soil respiration in a Larix gmelinii forest and the response to prescribed fire in the Greater Xing0an Mountains,China显示文摘This study was conducted in a fire-prone region in the Greater Xing'an Mountains,the primary forested area of northeastern China.We measured soil respiration and the affecting soil factors,i.e.,soil microbial biomass and soil moisture,within an experimental plot of Larix gmelinii Rupr.A low-intensity,prescribed fire was applied as the treatment.Traditional descriptive statistics and geostatistics were used to analyze the spatial heterogeneity of soil respiration and the response of respiration to fire disturbance.Coefficients of variation(CVs) for pre-fire and post-fire soil respiration were 23.4 and 32.0 %,respectively.CVs for post-fire soil respiration increased significantly,with a moderate variation of all CVs.Soil respiration pre-fire was significantly correlated with soil microbial biomass carbon,biomass nitrogen,and soil moisture(W);post-fire soil respiration was not correlated with these factors.From the geostatistical analyses,the C_0+C(sill) for post-fire soil respiration increased significantly,indicating that the post-fire spatial heterogeneity of soil respiration increased significantly.The nugget effect(nc) of soil respiration and the affecting factors pre-fire and post-fire disturbance were in the range of 12.5–50 %,with strong spatial autocorrelation.Fire disturbance changed the components of spatial heterogeneity,and the proportion of functional heterogeneity increased significantly post-fire.The ranges(a) for pre-fire and post-fire soil respiration were 81.0 and 68.2 m,respectively.The homogeneity of the distribution of post-fire soil respiration decreased and the spatial heterogeneity increased,thus the range for postfire soil respiration decreased significantly.The fractal dimension(D) for soil respiration increased post-fire,the spatial heterogeneity of soil respiration affected by random components increased,indicating that the change in spatial heterogeneity of post-fire soil respiration should be considered within the scale of the forest stand.Following Kriging interpolation,the increase in the patchiness of post-fire soil respiration was illustrated using a contour map.Based on these preliminary results,the change in the spatial heterogeneity of post-fire soil respiration was likely caused by changes in the distribution of soil moisture and microbial activity within the experimental plot at the scale of the forest stand.Haiqing Hu Tongxin Hu Long Sun 2016Journal of Forestry Research2016,27,5:11
4The effect of fire disturbance on short-term soil respiration in typical forest of Greater Xing'an Range, China显示文摘We investigated the effect of fire disturbance on short-term soil respiration in birch(Betula platyphylla Suk.) and larch(Larix gmelinii Rupr.) forests in Greater Xing'an range, northeastern China for further understanding of its effect on the carbon cycle in ecosystems. Our study show that post-fire soil respiration rates in B. platyphylla and L. gmelinii forests were reduced by 14% and 10%, respectively. In contrast, the soil heterotrophic respiration rates in the two types of forest were similar in post-fire and control plots. After fire, the contribution of root respiration to total soil respiration was dramatically reduced. Variation in soil respiration rates was explained by soil moisture(W) and soil temperature(T) at a depth of 5 cm. Exponential regression fitted T and W models explained Rs rates in B. platyphylla control and post-fire plots(83.1% and 86.2%) and L. gmelinii control and post-fire plots(83.7% and 88.7%). In addition, the short-term temperature coefficients in B.platyphylla control and post-fire plots were 5.33 and 5, respectively, and 9.12, and 5.26 in L. gmelinii control and post-fire plots, respectively. 5Historic distribution and driving factors of human-caused fires in the Chinese boreal forest between 1972 and 2005显示文摘Aims The pattern and driving factors of forest fires are of interest for fire occurrence prediction and forest fire management.The aims of the study were:(i)to describe the history of human-caused fires by season and size of burned area over time;(ii)to identify the spatial patterns of human-caused fires and test for the existence of‘hotspots’to determine their exact locations in the Daxing’an mountains;(iii)to determine the driving factors that determine the spatial distribution and the possibility of human-caused fire occurrence.Methods In this study,K-function and Kernel density estimation were used to analyze the spatial pattern of human-caused fires.The analysis was conducted in s-plus and arcgIs environments,respectively.The analysis of driving factors was performed in SPSS 19.0 based on a logistic regression model.The variables used to identify factors that influence fire occurrence included vegetation types,meteorological conditions,socioeconomic factors,topography and infrastructure factors,which were extracted and collected through the spatial analysis mode of arcgIs and from official statistics,respectively.Important Findings The annual number of human-caused fires and the area burnt have declined since 1987 due to the implementation of a forest fire protection act.There were significant spatial heterogeneity and seasonal variations in the distribution of human-caused fires in the Daxing’an mountains.The heterogeneity was caused by elevation,distance to the nearest railway,forest type and temperature.a logistic regression model was developed to predict the likelihood of human-caused fire occurrence in the Daxing’an mountains;its global accuracy attained 64.8%.The model was thus comparable to other relevant studies.Futao Guo John L.Innes Guangyu Wang Xiangqing Ma Long Sun Haiqing Hu Zhangwen Su 2015Journal of Plant Ecology2015,8,5:10
6Determination of Lignin in Marine Sediment Using Alkaline Cupric Oxide Oxidation-Solid Phase Extraction-on-Column Derivatization-Gas Chromatography显示文摘Lignin serves as one of the most important molecular fossils for tracing Terrestrial Organic Matters (TOMs) in marine environment. Extraction and derivatization of lignin oxidation products (LOPs) are crucial for accurate quantification of lignin in marine sediment. Here we report a modification of the conventional alkaline cupric oxide (CuO) oxidation method, the modification consisting in a solid phase extraction (SPE) and a novel on-column derivatization being employed for better efficiency and reproducibility. In spiking blanks, recoveries with SPE for the LOPs are between 77.84% and 99.57% with relative standard deviations (RSDs) ranging from 0.57% to 8.04% (n=3), while those with traditional liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) are from 44.52% to 86.16% with RSDs being from 0.53% to 13.14% (n=3). Moreover, the reproducibility is greatly improved with SPE, with less solvent consumption and shorter processing time. The average efficiency of on-column derivatization for LOPs is 100.8% ± 0.68%, which is significantly higher than those of in-vial or in-syringe derivatization, thus resulting in still less consumption of derivatizing reagents. Lignin in the surface sediments sampled from the south of Yangtze River estuary, China, was determined with the established method. Recoveries of 72.66% to 85.99% with standard deviation less than 0.01mg/10g dry weight are obtained except for p-hydroxyben-zaldehyde. The lignin content Σ8 (produced from 10 g dry sediment) in the research area is between 0.231 and 0.587 mg. 7Sirt1-ROS-TRAF6 Signaling-Induced Pyroptosis Contributes to Early Injury in Ischemic Mice显示文摘Stroke is an acute cerebro-vascular disease with high incidence and poor prognosis,most commonly ischemic in nature.In recent years,increasing attention has been paid to inflammatory reactions as symptoms of a stroke.However,the role of inflammation in stroke and its underlying mechanisms require exploration.In this study,we evaluated the inflammatory reactions induced by acute ischemia and found that pyroptosis occurred after acute ischemia both in vivo and in vitro,as determined by interleukin-1β,apoptosis-associated speck-like protein,and caspase-1.The early inflammation resulted in irreversible ischemic injury,indicating that it deserves thorough investigation.Meanwhile,acute ischemia decreased the Sirtuin 1(Sirtl)protein levels,and increased the TRAF6(TNF receptor associated factor 6)protein and reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels.In further exploration,both Sirtl suppression and TRAF6 activation were found to contribute to this pyroptosis.Reduced Sirtl levels were responsible for the production of ROS and increased TRAF6 protein levels after ischemic exposure.Moreover,N-acetyl-L-cysteine,an ROS scavenger,suppressed the TRAF6 accumulation induced by oxygen-glucose deprivation via suppression of ROS bursts.These phenomena indicate that Sirtl is upstream of ROS,and ROS bursts result in increased TRAF6 levels.Further,the activation of Sirtl during the period of ischemia reduced ischemiainduced injury after 72 h of reperfusion in mice with middle cerebral artery occlusion.In sum,these results indicate that pyroptosis-dependent machinery contributes to the neural injury during acute ischemia via the Sirt1-ROS-TRAF6 signaling pathway.We propose that inflammatory reactions occur soon after oxidative stress and are detrimental to neuronal survival;this provides a promising therapeutic target against ischemic injuries such as a stroke.Weijie Yan Wei Sun Jiahui Fan Haiqing Wang Song Han Junfa Li Yanling Yin 2020Neuroscience Bulletin2020,36,8:9

9Shear strength of frozen clay under freezing-thawing cycles using triaxial tests显示文摘Using a new low-temperature dynamic triaxial apparatus, the influence law of freezing-thawing cycles on clay shear strength is studied. In this research, the concept of correction coefficients of freezing-thawing cycles on clay static strength, cohesion and internal friction angles is proposed, and the change patterns, correction curves and regressive formulae of clay static strength, cohesion and internal friction angles under freezing-thawing cycles are given. The test results indicate that with increasing numbers of freezing-thawing cycles, the clay static strength and cohesion decrease exponentially but the internal friction angle increases exponentially. The performance of static strength, cohesion and internal friction angles are different with increasing numbers of freezing-thawing cycles, i.e., the static strength decreases constantly until about 30% of the initial static strength prior to the freezing-thawing cycling and then stays basically stable. After 5-7 freezing-thawing cycles, the cohesion decreases gradually to about 70% of the initial cohesion. The internal friction angle increases about 20% after the first freezing-thawing cycle, then increases gradually close to a stable value which is an increase of about 40% of the internal friction angle. 10Dynamic tensile behaviour and crack propagation of coal under coupled static-dynamic loading显示文摘The fracture behaviour and crack propagation features of coal under coupled static-dynamic loading conditions are important when evaluating the dynamic failure of coal.In this study,coupled static-dynamic loading tests are conducted on Brazilian disc(BD)coal specimens using a modified split Hopkinson pressure bar(SHPB).The effects of the static axial pre-stress and loading rate on the dynamic tensile strength and crack propagation characteristics of BD coal specimens are studied.The average dynamic indirect tensile strength of coal specimens increases first and then decreases with the static axial pre-stress increasing.When no static axial pre-stress is applied,or the static axial pre-stress is 30%of the static tensile strength,the dynamic indirect tensile strength of coal specimens shows an increase trend as the loading rate increases.When the static axial pre-stress is 60%of the static tensile strength,the dynamic indirect tensile strength shows a fluctuant trend as the loading rate increases.According to the crack propagation process of coal specimens recorded by high-speed camera,the impact velocity influences the mode of crack propagation,while the static axial pre-stress influences the direction of crack propagation.The failure of coal specimens is a coupled tensile-shear failure under high impact velocity.When there is no static axial pre-stress,tensile cracks occur in the vertical loading direction.When the static axial pre-stress is applied,the number of cracks perpendicular to the loading direction decreases,and more cracks occur in the parallel loading direction.Xianjie Hao Weisheng Du Yixin Zhao Zhuowen Sun Qian Zhang Shaohua Wang Haiqing Qiao 2020International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2020,30,5:8

12Effect of fire disturbance on active organic carbon of Larix gmelinii forest soil in Northeastern China显示文摘Active organic carbon in soil has high biological activity and plays an important role in forest soil ecosystem structure and function. Fire is an important disturbance factor in many forest ecosystems and occurs frequently over forested soils. However, little is known about its impact on soil active organic carbon(SAOC), which is important to the global carbon cycle. To investigate this issue, we studied the active organic carbon in soils in the Larix gmelinii forests of the Da Xing'an Mountains(Greater Xing'an Mountains) in Northeastern China, which had been burned by high-intensity wildfire in two different years(2002 and 2008). Soil samples were collected monthly during the 2011 growing season from over 12 sample plots in burned and unburned soils and then analyzed to examine the dynamics of SAOC. Our results showed that active organic carbon content changed greatly after fire disturbance in relation to the amount of time elapsed since the fire. There were significant differences in microbial biomass carbon, dissolved organic carbon, light fraction organic carbon, particulate organic carbon between burned and unburned sample plots in 2002 and 2008(p<0.05). The correlations between active organic carbon and environmental factors such as water content, p H value and temperature of soils, and correlations between each carbon component changed after fire disturbance, also in relation to time since the fire. The seasonal dynamics of SAOC in all of the sample plots changed after fire disturbance; peak values appeared during the growing season. In plots burned in 2002 and 2008, the magnitude and occurrence time of peak values differed. 13Distribution of molluscan remains in the sediment of the Chukchi Sea and its vicinity, the Arctic显示文摘The result of an analysis of mollusca remains collected from the Chukchi Sea, Beaufort Sea and Bering Sea in the First Chinese National Arctic Research Expedition,from July to September,1999 is presented. Seventeen species of mollusca have been identified, which belong to two classes: Bivalvia and Gastropoda. The compositions of the mollusca are very simple. According to the distribution pattern two groups may be distinguished among molluscan species. The Pan-Arctic and circumboreal group comprises Nuculana pernula, N.radiata, Nucula bellotii, Astarte montagui, Seripes groenlandicus, Macoma calcarea, M.moesta alaskana, Liocyma fluctuosa, Mya pseudoarenaria and Turritella polaris. Three species, Cyclocardia crebricostata, Trichotrois coronata and Argobuccinum oregonense are components of the Pan-Arctic and Pacific boreal group. With regard to feeding habits, detritus feeders dominate. There are 7 species of detritus feeders, i.e.,Nuculana pernula, N.radiata, Nucula bellotii, Macoma calcarea, M.moesta alaskana, Macoma sp. and Trichotropis coronata. Detritus feeders are dominant with regard to the numbers of species as well as to the frequency of occurrence. 14DNA damage repair promotion in colonic epithelial cells by andrographolide downregulated cGAS-STING pathway activation and contributed to the relief of CPT-11-induced intestinal mucositis显示文摘Gastrointestinal mucositis is one of the most debilitating side effects of the chemotherapeutic agent irinotecan(CPT-11). Andrographolide, a natural bicyclic diterpenoid lactone, has been reported to possess anti-colitis activity. In this study, andrographolide treatment was found to significantly relieve CPT-11-induced colitis in tumor-bearing mice without decreasing the tumor suppression effect of CPT-11. CPT-11 causes DNA damage and the release of double-stranded DNA(ds DNA) from the intestine, leading to cyclic-GMP-AMP synthase(c GAS)-stimulator of interferon genes(STING)-mediated colitis, which was significantly decreased by andrographolide both in vivo and in vitro. Mechanistic studies revealed that andrographolide could promote homologous recombination(HR) repair and downregulate ds DNA-c GAS-STING signaling and contribute to the improvement of CPT-11-induced gastrointestinal mucositis. 15Bi_2Se_3/C Nanocomposite as a New Sodium-Ion Battery Anode Material显示文摘Bi_2Se_3 was studied as a novel sodium-ion battery anode material because of its high theoretical capacity and high intrinsic conductivity. Integrated with carbon,Bi_2Se_3/C composite shows excellent cyclic performance and rate capability. For instance, the Bi_2Se_3/C anode delivers an initial capacity of 527 mAh g^(-10) at 0.1 A g^(-1) and maintains 89% of this capacity over 100 cycles. 16Effects of different amino acid levels and a carvacrol-thymol blend on growth performance and intestinal health of weaned pigs显示文摘Background:Over the past years,antibiotic growth promoter had been restricted in animal husbandry production in many countries because of antimicrobial resistance and foodborne antibiotic residues.However,the problems of poor intestinal health and low growth efficiency of piglets have not been solved completely in an antibiotic-free diet,and it is urgent to explore alternatives to antimicrobial growth promoters.Methods:Here,a total of 532 weaned pigs were assigned to one of 4 treatments,the low amino acid(AA)level diet(d 1 to d 14 is 1.35%,d 15 to d 42 is 1.25%)(Low AA),the low AA level diet supplementation with a carvacrol-thymol blend(50 mg carvacrol and 50 mg thymol/kg of diet)(CB)(Low AA+CB),the high AA level diet(d 1 to d 14 is 1.50%,d 15 to d 42 is 1.40%)(High AA),and the high AA level diet supplementation with a CB(High AA+CB),respectively.Then we measured growth performance and intestinal health indicators of weaned pigs.Results:Results showed that high AA level significantly reduced plasma urea nitrogen,plasma Interleukin-6(IL-6)and fecal lipocalin-2 contents(P<0.05),significantly increased the relative abundance of fecal Lactobacillus and Enterococcus,and had a trend to increase the fecal secretory immunoglobulin A(sIgA)and mucin 2(MUC 2)contents(P<0.05)in piglets,thereby alleviating the diarrhea of piglets and reducing the feed conversion ratio(FCR)of piglets during d 1~14 after weaning.Dietary supplementation with CB significantly increased the activity of plasma antioxidant enzymes T-SOD and GSH-px(P<0.05),while significantly reduced plasma malondialdehyde(MDA),plasma interleukin-1β(IL-1β),plasma endotoxin and D-lactic acid contents(P<0.05).Meanwhile,CB significantly decreased fecal lipocalin-2 contents and the abundance of fecal Escherichia coli(P<0.05).Thus,we hypothesis that dietary supplementation with CB significantly increased the average daily gain(ADG)of piglets(P<0.05)during d 1~14 after weaning through promoting intestinal health.Conclusion:These results suggest that high AA level and dietary supplementation with CB improved the growth performance of weaned pigs in an antibiotic-free diet by improving AA metabolism and intestinal antioxidant capacity.Yanan Wang Zhipeng Yang Yuanfei Zhou Jiajian Tan Haiqing Sun Defa Sun Yuyun Mu Jian Peng Hongkui Wei 2022Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2022,13,5:2
17Physiologic and Transcriptomic Insights into the High Alkali Response of Dunaliella salina显示文摘The halophilic unicellular green alga Dunaliella salina is characterized as the distinct tolerance to high salt in the field.Normally the organism is concurrently subjected with salt and alkali stress,but the feature of D.salina in response to high alkali stress was not investigated before.In this study,we used high pH stress to simulate high alkali stress and found D.salina also showed tolerance to high alkali stress,even grown under pH at 11.0,with high cell density and chlorophyll biosynthesis.High-throughput transcriptome analysis revealed the dramatically different expression of genes associated with nitrogen metabolism,lipid andβ-carotene biosynthesis after high alkali treatment.Furthermore,physiologic analysis showed that high alkali treatment induced the expression and activity of nitrate reductase(NR),which generated nitric oxide(NO)as the messenger,and ultimately induced the accumulation of lipid andβ-carotene biosynthesis.Suppressing NR activity or NO generation also reduced high-alkali-induced lipid andβ-carotene biosynthesis,as well as attenuated the tolerance of D.salina to high alkali stress.Thus,our physiologic and transcriptomic data reveal the novel function of NR-dependent NO signal during the adaptation of D.salina to high alkali stress,through inducing the biosynthesis of lipid andβ-carotene biosynthesis.Jun Zhou Haiqing Sun Jiali Wei Ping Li 2021Phyton-International Journal of Experimental Botany2021,90,5:2
18Effect of fire intensity on active organic and total soil carbon in a Larix gmelinii forest in the Daxing'anling Mountains,Northeastern China显示文摘Studying contents and seasonal dynamics of active organic carbon in the soil is an important method for revealing the turnover and regulation mechanism of soil carbon pool. Through 3 years of field sampling and lab analysis, we studied the seasonal variations, content differences, and interrelationships of total organic carbon(TOC), light fraction organic carbon(LFOC), and particulate organic carbon(POC) of the soil in the forest areas burned with different fire intensities in the Daxing'anling Mountains. The mean TOC content in the low-intensity burned area was greater than that in the unburned area,moderate-intensity, and high-intensity burned areas in June and November(P<0.05). LFOC and POC in the lowintensity burned area were greater than that in either moderate-intensity or high-intensity burned areas, with significant differences in LFOC in September and November(P <0.05). A significant difference in LFOC between the unburned and burned areas was only found in July(P < 0.05). However, the differences in POC between the unburned and burned areas were not significant in all the whole seasons(P >0.05). Soil LFOC and POC varied significantly with the seasons(P< 0.05) in the Daxing'anling Mountains. In this work, we report the recent experimental researches on the Raman spectra and the temperature-dependent features of graphenes and car- bon nanoscrolls, which are evolved from graphene and have an open tubular structure. The layer-dependent Raman enhancing characteristics of n-layer graphenes for crystal violet, and the thickness-dependent morphologies of gold on n-layer graphenes are also systematically investigated. 20Gamma generalized linear model to investigate the effects of climate variables on the area burned by forest fire in northeast China显示文摘The purpose of this study was to determine a suitable model for investigating the effects of climate factors on the area burned by forest fire in the Tahe forest region, Daxing'an Mountains, in northeast China. The response variables were the area burned by lightningcaused fire, human-caused fire, and total burned area. The predictor variables were nine climate variables collected from the local weather station. Three regression models were utilized, including multiple linear regression, loglinear model(log-transformation on both response and predictor variables), and gamma-generalized linear model.The goodness-of-fit of the models were compared based on model fitting statistics such as R^2, AIC, and RMSE. The results revealed that the gamma-generalized linear model was generally superior to both multiple linear regression model and log-linear model for fitting the fire data. Further,the best models were selected based on the criteria that the climate variables were statistically significant at a = 0.05.The gamma best models indicated that maximum wind speed, precipitation, and days that rainfall greater than0.1 mm had significant impacts on the area burned by the lightning-caused fire, while the mean temperature and minimum relative humidity were the main drivers of the burned area caused by human activities. Overall, the total burned area by forest fire was significantly influenced by days that rainfall greater than 0.1 mm and minimum relative humidity, indicating that the moisture condition of forest stands determine the burned area by forest fire.Futao Guo Guangyu Wang John L.
