1Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 2A novel approach for designing efficient broadband photodetectors expanding from deep ultraviolet to near infrared显示文摘Broadband photodetection(PD)covering the deep ultraviolet to near-infrared(200–1000 nm)range is significant and desirable for various optoelectronic designs.Herein,we employ ultraviolet(UV)luminescent concentrators(LC),iodinebased perovskite quantum dots(PQDs),and organic bulk heterojunction(BHJ)as the UV,visible,and near-infrared(NIR)photosensitive layers,respectively,to construct a broadband heterojunction PD.Firstly,experimental and theoretical results reveal that optoelectronic properties and stability of CsPbI3 PQDs are significantly improved through Er3+doping,owing to the reduced defect density,improved charge mobility,increased formation energy,tolerance factor,etc.The narrow bandgap of CsPbI3:Er3+PQDs serves as a visible photosensitive layer of PD.Secondly,considering the matchable energy bandgap,the BHJ(BTP-4Cl:PBDB-TF)is selected as to NIR absorption layer to fabricate the hybrid structure with CsPbI3:Er3+PQDs.Thirdly,UV LC converts the UV light(200–400 nm)to visible light(400–700 nm),which is further absorbed by CsPbI3:Er3+PQDs.In contrast with other perovskites PDs and commercial Si PDs,our PD presents a relatively wide response range and high detectivity especially in UV and NIR regions(two orders of magnitude increase that of commercial Si PDs).Furthermore,the PD also demonstrates significantly enhanced air-and UV-stability,and the photocurrent of the device maintains 81.5%of the original one after 5000 cycles.This work highlights a new attempt for designing broadband PDs,which has application potential in optoelectronic devices.Nan Ding Yanjie Wu Wen Xu Jiekai Lyu Yue Wang Lu Zi Long Shao Rui Sun Nan Wang Sen Liu Donglei Zhou Xue Bai Ji Zhou Hongwei Song 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,5:5
3Effects of IBA on the rooting of branch cuttings of Chinese jujube (Zizyphus jujuba Mill.) and changes to nutrients and endogenous hormones显示文摘‘Zhongqiusucui’ jujube secondary shoots were treated with 3-indolebutyric acid(IBA) at three concentrations, 500, 1000 and 1500 mg/L. Results show that IBA could significantly enhance rooting and root characteristics of cuttings and were best with IBA at 1500 mg/L. In the rooting process, the formation of adventitious roots was related to the consumption and accumulation of nutrients(soluble sugars and proteins) and the changes in endogenous hormones in phloem, leaf tips and leaf bases. The rooting of cuttings had a positive correlation with the consumption of soluble sugars during the period of callus formation and with the accumulation of soluble sugars during adventitious root formation and growth. Rooting was positively related to the breakdown of soluble proteins in the phloem when the callus formed, and had a positive correlation with its accumulation during adventitious root formation and growth. Leaf tips and leaf bases showed a reverse trend in changes of soluble protein. However, together with the phloem, leaf tips and leaf bases regulated and controlled the formation and development of adventitious roots. The main activities of soluble proteins exist in the leaf tips as this was the main source of soluble proteins. The relation between rooting and IAA(indole-3-acetic acid) content in phloem was positive and thus a high concentration of IAA could benefit the induction and formation of adventitious roots. However, rooting was negatively related with ABA(abscisic acid) and GA(gibberellic acid) and a high concentration of both could inhibit the induction and formation of adventitious roots. Rooting had a positive correlation with phloem IAA/ABA ratios, and higher ratios could improve rooting. Low concentrations of ZR(zeatin riboside) triggered the induction of adventitious roots, while higher concentrations promoted root growth.Endogenous hormones in leaf tips and bases had an impact on rooting. The activities of endogenous hormones mainly existed in leaf tips because they play a major role in the production and consumption of IAA and its ABA content increased during rooting. The ZR in leaf tips influenced the rooting of cuttings, especially in the callus formation and rooting stage. 4Clinical experience of percutaneous m itralballoon valvuloplastyin 350 casesin Chinese and long term follow-up显示文摘Objectives: This study is to introduce of the clinical experience of percutaneous mitral balloon valvuloplasty 350 cases in Chinese and the long term follow up. Method: The modfied Inoue method was performed. Results: Effective PBMV was performed in 344 cases, the success rate was 98.3%:mitral area assessed by 2 dimenrional echocardiography (1.11±0.29 to 2.19 ±0.40cm 2, P <0.01 ). One hundrad and five patients were followed at a mean (46.7± 26.3 ) months (range 9 months to 8.5 years). after procedure restenosis was 11.4%(12/15), death 2.9 %(3/105, cerebral embolism in 2, congestive heart failure in 1; mitral valve replacement in 3.8%(4/105). 6Research progress in electron transport layer in perovskite solar cells显示文摘Since perovskite solar cells appeared in 2009, its simple preparation process, high photoelectric conversion efficiency and the characteristic of low cost in preparation process let it become the hot spot of both at-home and abroad. Owing to the constant efforts of scientists, the conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells is more than 20% now. Perovskite solar cells are mainly composed of conductive glass, electron transport layer and hole transport layer, perovskite layer and electrode parts. This paper will briefly introduce the working principle and working process about the electron transport layer of perovskite solar cells. 12ACACB is a novel metabolism-related biomarker in the prediction of response to cetuximab therapy in metastatic colorectal cancer显示文摘Cetuximab is one of the most valuable targeted therapy monoclonal antibodies in the treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer(CRC).However,the mechanisms affecting cetuximab resistance in CRC treatment remain unclear.Metabolism,especially fatty acid metabolism,has been reported to play an important role in tumor treatment.The correlation between cetuximab resistance and metabolism and whether it can be a new biomarker to evaluate the sensitivity of cetuximab in CRC treatment still need to be further explored.In this study,we perform a comprehensive analysis to confirm the relationship between fatty acid metabolism and cetuximab resistance,and the differentially expressed genes(DEGs)related to cetuximab drug resistance in CRC are screened by bioinformatics technology.We find that acetyl-CoA carboxylase beta(ACACB),ADH1C,CES1,MGLL,FMO5,and GPT are the hub DEGs,and ACACB is the most important biomarker among them.In addition,we systematically analyze the role of ACACB in the tumorigenesis of CRC,including tissue expression,CRC cell growth,cetuximab sensitivity,and potential downstream pathways,by using bioinformatics techniques,in vitro experiments and clinical cohort validation.Our results confirm that cetuximab resistance is correlated with metabolism.ACACB can lead to decreased sensitivity to cetuximab in CRC,and its mechanism may be related to EGFR phosphorylation,which could affect the activation of the mTOR/Akt signaling pathway and regulation of CDT1-,cyclin D1-,and p21-related cell cycle modulation.Hi-Ju Hong Yanfei Shao Sen Zhang Guang Yang Hongtao Jia Xiao Yang Ling Huang Shuchun Li Batuer Aikemu Luyang Zhang Junjun Ma Lu Zang Jing Sun Minhua Zheng 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,11:1

16Surgical strategies for peripheral nerve schwannoma based on the intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring显示文摘Objective:To present our classification for peripheral nerve schwannomas as well as explore the surgical strategies and operative management of peripheral nerve schwannomas based on the intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring(INM)technique and to decrease the risk of postoperative neurological deficits in the management of these schwannomas.Materials and methods:A retrospective study was conducted on 92 cases of peripheral nerve microsurgery performed,using the INM technique.We also made the classification for peripheral nerve schwannomas into two types according to operative findings and proceeded corresponding surgical strategies.Results:All tumors were removed completely under microscopy and INM.Three patients developed residual neurological deficits at final follow-up.There were different results about temporary(18/92,19.6%)and permanent(3/92,3.3%)neurological deficits.The incidence of temporary and permanent neurological deficits in type II group was significantly higher than that in type I group(p<0.01).The incidence of permanent neurological deficits in larger size tumors was significantly higher than that of smaller size(p<0.01).Conclusions:We made the classification for peripheral nerve schwannomas according to operative findings based on INM that is helpful to our surgical strategies.Intracapsular enucleation was the preferred strategy with satisfactory results and low risk of nerve injury.The size and location of tumors seem to be related to the risk of fascicular injury.Xinwei Li Guohua Zhong Xueying Xu Kun Wang Yinxin Zhu Xuchen Qi Junhui Lv Yirong Wang Sen Shao 2019Laparoscopic, Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery2019,2,3:0
17Extensive gene flow in secondary sympatry after allopatric speciation显示文摘In the conventional view,species are separate gene pools delineated by reproductive isolation(RI).In an alternative view,species may also be delineated by a small set of’speciation genes’without full RI,a view that has gained broad acceptance.A recent survey,however,suggested that the extensive literature on’speciation with gene flow’is mostly(if not all)about exchanges in the early stages of speciation.There is no definitive evidence that the observed gene flow actually happened after speciation is completed.Here,we wish to know whether’good species’(defined by the’secondary sympatry’test)do continue to exchange genes and,importantly,under what conditions such exchanges can be observed.De novo whole-genome assembly and re-sequencing of individuals across the range of two closely related mangrove species(Rhizophora mucronata and R.stylosa)reveal the genomes to be well delineated in allopatry.They became sympatric in northeastern Australia but remain distinct species.Nevertheless,their genomes harbor~4000-10000 introgression blocks averaging only about 3-4 Kb.These fine-grained introgressions indicate continual gene flow long after speciation as non-introgressable’genomic islets,’~1.4 Kb in size,often harbor diverging genes of flower or gamete development.The fine-grained introgression in secondary sympatry may help settle the debate about sympatric vs.micro-allopatric speciation.In conclusion,true’good species’may often continue to exchange genes but the opportunity for detection is highly constrained.Xinfeng Wang Ziwen He Zixiao Guo Ming Yang Shaohua Xu Qipian Chen Shao Shao Sen Li Cairong Zhong Norman C.Duke Suhua Shi 2022National Science Review2022,9,12:0

19Surface modification of ZnIn_(2)S_(4)layers to realize energy-transfer-mediated photocatalysis显示文摘Photocatalytic selective aerobic oxidation reactions are crucial in designing advanced organic intermediates,but suffer from low conversion efficiency.Hence,activating O_(2) to create suitable reactive oxygen species,such as singlet oxygen((1)^O_(2)),can significantly increase the yield of desired products.Herein,using ZnIn_(2)S_(4) nanosheets as a model system,we build a surface-modified theoretical structure,where a surface-covered non-conductive macromolecular chain,polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP),is bound to ZnIn_(2)S_(4) and influences the O_(2) adsorption process.PVP on the surface significantly changes the electronic structure and suppresses electron conduction of ZnIn_(2)S_(4) nanosheets.Therefore,abundantly photogenerated and long-lived species transfer their energy to physically absorbed O_(2) to efficiently generate(1)^O_(2),which can oxidize sulphides into their corresponding sulphoxides.For sulphoxidation of different sulphides,surface modification brings a 3–9-fold increase in conversion efficiency and high selectivities≥98%.This study provides a feasible way of boosting(1)^O_(2)-generation-related photocatalytic reactions.Xianshun Sun Xiao Luo Sen Jin Xiaodong Zhang Hui Wang Wei Shao Xiaojun Wu Yi Xie 2022National Science Review2022,9,10:0
20A customized strategy to design intercalation-type Li-free cathodes for all-solid-state batteries显示文摘Pairing Li-free transition-metal-based cathodes(MX) with Li-metal anodes is an emerging trend to overcome the energy-density limitation of current rechargeable Li-ion technology.However,the development of practical Li-free MX cathodes is plagued by the existing notion of low voltage due to the long-term overlo oked voltage-tuning/phase-stability competition.Here,we propose a p-type alloying strategy involving three voltage/phase-evolution stages,of which each of the varying trends are quantitated by two improved ligand-field descriptors to balance the above contradiction.Following this,an intercalation-type 2H-V_(1.75)Cr_(0.25) S_4 cathode tuned from layered MX_(2) family is successfully designed,which possesses an energy density of 554.3 Wh kg^(-1) at the ele ctrode level accompanied by interfacial compatibility with sulfide solid-state ele ctrolyte.The propos al of this class of materials is expected to break free from scarce or high-cost transition-metal(e.g.Co and Ni) reliance in current commercial cathodes.Our experiments further confirm the voltage and energy-density gains of 2H-V_(1.75)Cr_(0.25)S_4.This strategy is not limited to specific Li-free cathodes and offers a solution to achieve high voltage and phase stability simultaneously.Da Wang Jia Yu Xiaobin Yin Sen Shao Qianqian Li Yanchao Wang Maxim Avdeev Liquan Chen Siqi Shi 2023National Science Review2023,10,3:0
