| 1 | Surface and intrinsic contributions to extinction properties of ZnSe quantum dots显示文摘This work studies extinction properties of ZnSe quantum dots terminated with either Se-surface or Zn-surface(Se-ZnSe or Zn-ZnSe QDs).In addition to commonly observed photoluminescence quenching by anionic surface sites,Se-ZnSe QDs are found to show drastic signatures of Se-surface states in their UV-visible(Vis)absorption spectra.Similar to most QDs reported in literature,monodisperse Zn-ZnSe QDs show sharp absorption features and blue-shifted yet steep absorption edge respect to the bulk bandgap.However,for monodisperse Se-ZnSe QDs,all absorption features are smeared and a low-energy tail is identified to extend to an energy window below the bulk ZnSe bandgap.Along increasing their size,a cyclic growth of ZnSe QDs switches their surface from Zn-terminated to Se-terminated ones,which confirms that the specific absorption signatures are reproducibly repeated between those of two types of the QDs.Though the extinction coefficients per unit of Se-ZnSe QDs are always larger than those of Zn-ZnSe QDs with the same size,both of them approach the same bulk limit.In addition to contribution of the lattice,extinction coefficients per nanocrystal of Zn-ZnSe QDs show an exponential term against their sizes,which is expected for quantum-confinement enhancement of electron-hole wavefunction overlapping.For Se-ZnSe QDs,there is the third term identified for their extinction coefficients per nanocrystal,which is proportional to the square of size of the QDs and consistent with surface contribution. | Shangxin Lin Jiongzhao Li Chaodan Pu Hairui Lei Meiyi Zhu Haiyan Qin Xiaogang Peng | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,3: | 5 |
| 2 | Investigation of plasmonic whispering gallery modes of graphene equilateral triangle nanocavities显示文摘In this paper, a graphene-based equilateral triangle nanocavity is proposed and numerically investigated. The relationship between the mode characteristics and the nanocavity parameters, such as the geometry of nanocavity and the chemical potential of graphene, is systematically explored. A high-order plasmonic WGM(whispering gallery mode) with a high quality factor of 147.93 is obtained in our nanocavity with a wavelength of around 1.415 μm in free space, with a corresponding Purcell factor as high as 7.067×108. | 3 | Determination of inhibitory activity of Salvia miltiorrhiza extracts on xanthine oxidase with a paper-based analytical device显示文摘A novel paper-based analytical device(PAD)was prepared and applied to determine the xanthine oxidase(XOD)inhibitory activity of Salvia miltiorrhiza extracts(SME).First,polycaprolactone was 3D printed on filter paper and heated to form hydrophobic barriers.Then the modified paper was cut according to the specific design.Necessary reagents including XOD for the colorimetric assay were immobilized on two separate pieces of paper.By simply adding phosphate buffer,the reaction was performed on the double-layer PAD.Quantitative results were obtained by analyzing the color intensity with the specialized device system(consisting of a smartphone,a detection box and sandwich plates).The 3Dprinted detection box was small,with a size of 9.0 cm×7.0 cm×11.5 cm.Color component G performed well in terms of linearity and detection limits and thus was identified as the index.The reaction conditions were optimized using a definitive screening design.Moreover,a 10%glycerol solution was found to be a suitable stabilizer.When the stabilizer was added,the activity of XOD could be maintained for at least 15 days under 4℃ or-20℃ storage conditions.The inhibitory activity of SME was investigated and compared to that of allopurinol.The results obtained with the PAD showed agreement with those obtained with the microplate method.In conclusion,the proposed PAD method is simple,accurate and has a potential for point-of-care testing.It also holds promise for use in rapid quality testing of medicinal herbs,intermediate products,and preparations of traditional Chinese medicines. | Xingchu Gong Jingyuan Shao Shangxin Guo Jingjing Pan Xiaohui Fan | 2021 | Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2021,11,5: | 1 |

| 12 | Proteome comparisons reveal influence of different dietary proteins on the development of rat jejunum显示文摘This study compared proteome profiles and morphological changes of rat jejunum in response to different dietary proteins. Fifty male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed with casein(control), and isolated beef, pork, fish and chicken proteins for 14 days. Proteome analysis,histological observation and PEPT1 quantification of the jejunum were performed. The results indicated that rats fed with chicken proteins had higher PEPT1 mRNA and protein levels(P < 0.05) but lower villus height and ratio of villus height to crypt depth(V/C ratio, P < 0.05) than those fed with casein and pork protein. Label-free LC-MS/MS indicated that, as compared to casein, intake of chicken protein can regulate oligopeptide transport mainly by upregulating PEPT1 protein expression and reducing dipeptidyl-peptidase activity related to biological oxidation, and can reduce oligopeptide absorption capacity by regulating Hippo signaling pathway. | 15 | Frailty and Anticoagulant Therapy in Patients Aged 65 Years or Older with Atrial Fibrillation显示文摘Background:Elderly adults with atrial fi brillation(AF)are at increased risk of frailty and thromboembolic complications.However,studies on the prevalence of frailty in AF patients and data on the relationship between frailty and the use of anticoagulants are limited.Methods:We conducted a cross-sectional study involving 500 participants.Patients aged 65 years or older were consecutively selected from the Chinese Atrial Fibrillation Registry study.The patient’s frailty status was assessed with use of the Canadian Study of Health and Aging Clinical Frailty Scale.We assessed the prevalence of and factors associated with frailty,and how frailty affects anticoagulant therapy.Results:In 500 elderly adults with AF(age 75.2±6.7 years;51.6%female),201 patients(40.2%)were frail.The prevalence of frailty was higher in females(P=0.002)and increased with age and CHA 2 DS 2-VASc score(P for trend less than 0.001 for both).The factors associated with frailty were a history of heart failure(odds ratio[OR]2.40,95%confi dence interval[CI]1.39–4.14),female sex(OR 2.09,95%CI 1.27–3.43),and advanced age(OR 1.13,95%CI 1.09–1.17).Frail patients were signifi cantly less likely to have ever been prescribed anticoagulants compared with nonfrail patients(81.7 vs.54.9%,P<0.001).Conclusions:Frailty is prevalent in elderly adults with AF,especially in females,those of advanced age,and those with heart failure.Frailty status has a signifi cant impact on prescription of anticoagulants for high-risk AF patients. | Jiapeng Liu Xin Du Mengmeng Li Zhaoxu Jia Shangxin Lu Sanshuai Chang Ribo Tang Rong Bai Jianzeng Dong Gregory Y.H.Lip Changsheng Ma | 2020 | Cardiovascular Innovations and Applications2020,,1: | 0 |
