Effects of dietary Clostridium butyricum supplementation on growth performance, intestinal development, and immune response of weaned piglets challenged with lipopolysaccharide显示文摘Background: Weanling pigs, with immature immune system and physiological function, usually experience postweaning diarrhea. This study determined the effects of dietary Clostridium butyricum supplementation on growth performance, diarrhea, and immunity of weaned pigs challenged with lipopolysaccharide(LPS).Methods: In Experiment(Exp.) 1,144 weaned piglets were weaned at 21 d and randomly assigned to six groups, with six replicates per group and four pigs per replicate, receiving a control diet(CON) or diet supplemented with antibiotics(AB) or C. butyricum(CB)(0.1%, 0.2%, 0.4%, or 0.8%), respectively. All diets in Exp. 1 were a highly digestible basal diet, with 3,000 mg/kg zinc oxide supplied in the first 2 wk only. In Exp. 2, 180 piglets were weaned at 21 d and randomly assigned to five groups, with six replicates per group and six pigs per replicate, receiving CON, AB, or CB(0.2%, 0.4%, or 0.6%) diets. The digestibility of diets was lower than those in Exp. 1, and did not include zinc oxide. At 36 d of Exp. 2, 12 piglets were selected from each of the CON and 0.4% CB groups, six piglets were intraperitoneally injected with LPS(50 μg/kg body weight) and the other six piglets with normal saline;animals were killed at 4 h after injection to collect blood, intestine, and digesta samples for biochemical analysis. Results: In Exp. 1, CB and AB diets had no effect on growth performance of piglets. In Exp. 2, 0.4% CB decreased feed-gain ratio(P < 0.1), diarrhea score(P < 0.05), and increased duodenal, jejunal, and ileal villus height and jejunal villus height/crypt depth(P < 0.05). The 0.4% CB decreased the plasma tumor necrosis factor(TNF) α(P < 0.05) but increased ileal mucosa IL-10 and TLR2 mRNA expression(P < 0.05). Furthermore, 0.4% CB altered the microbial profile, with Bacillus and Ruminococcaceae UGG-003 at genus level and Lactobacillus casei and Parasutterella secunda at species level were higher than CON in colonic content(P < 0.05).Conclusions: Dietary C. butyricum supplementation had positive effects on growth of weaned piglets with less digestible diets. There was a tendency to reduce the feed-gain ratio, which could reduce feed costs in pig production. Moreover, C. butyricum decreased post-weaning diarrhea by improving the intestinal morphology, intestinal microflora profile, and immune function. | Ling Chen Shuang Li Jie Zheng Wentao Li Xuemei Jiang Xilun Zhao Jian Li Lianqiang Che Yan Lin Shengyu Xu Bin Feng Zhengfeng Fang De Wu | 2018 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2018,9,4: | 26
Evaluation of soil fertility of the shelter-forest land along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘To study the changes of soil fertility of the shelter-forest land along the Tarim Desert Highway, soils from the forest land were collected at the layers of 0―10 cm, 10―20 cm, 20―30 cm. Different soil fertility parameters were measured, and quantitative evaluation of soil fertility was performed by the soil integrated fertility index (IFI). The main results show that the construction of the shelter forest along the Tarim Desert Highway improved the soil physical structure, increased soil porosity and enhanced wa- ter-holding capacity. With the increase of plantation time of the shelter forest, soil microbial biomass C, N, P and the activities of six types of enzyme were enhanced, which promoted the accumulation and transformation of soil nutrients of the forest land. Consequently, the soil nutrients in 12-year-old forest land were much higher than in the newer ones and drifting sand. However, soil salt content of the older forest land was higher owing to the drip-irrigation with salt water. Through the comprehensive evalua- tion, we found that soil fertility index in the forest land was enhanced with the forest age, and it had close correlations with the growth indices of the forest trees. In summary, construction of the shelterforest along the Tarim Desert Highway accelerated the improvement of aeolian soil in the forest land, and the soil fertility improved year by year. We conclude that the forest trees grow normally under the stress of the present drip-irrigation with salt water. | JIN ZhengZhong LEI JiaQiang XU XinWen LI ShengYu ZHAO SiFeng QIU YongZhi XU Bo | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2: | 18
Comprehensive eco-environmental effects of the shelter-forest ecological engineering along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘In this work, we report a comprehensive study about the eco-environmental effects of the shelter forest along the Tarim Desert Highway, including the effects on aeolian environment, soil, micro-climate, biodiversity, and groundwater. The results show that: (1) The movement of windblown sand near the ground surface was affected by the shelter forest. The wind speed and sediment transport rate in the shelter forest decreased by 64%―80% and 87.45%―99.02%, respectively. In addition, there were also significant changes in the sand flux structure, the sand grain size, and the deflation and deposition on the ground surface. (2) Compared to the natural mobile sand, the soil bulk density in the forest area decreased while the total salt content, the total porosity, and the water content increased. In addition, the soil fertility was significantly improved in the forest area, and showed the 'first rapid, then slow' variation pattern. (3) The shelter forest showed positive effects on the micro-climate. Within the 6 m height above the ground, the air temperature in the shelter forest at different heights was lower than that in the mobile sand, while the air humidity was higher, while, the soil temperature was also lower in the shelter forest than mobile sand. (4) The number of soil microbial species increased significantly with the improvement of habitat in the shelterbelt. However, the population of different species was not distributed evenly across the surveyed area. (5) Currently, no significant effects of groundwater-pumping and forest-irrigation water have been found on the groundwater level and its salinity. The variation amplitude of both groundwater level and salinity was at the level of centimeters and 1g/L, respectively. No obvious variation trend has been observed. | LEI JiaQiang LI ShengYu JIN ZhengZhong FAN JingLong WANG HaiFeng FAN DongDong ZHOU HongWei GU Feng QIU YongZhi XU Bo | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2: | 14

PD-L1 is a direct target of cancer-FOXP3 in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC),and combined immunotherapy with antibodies against PD-L1 and CCL5 is effective in the treatment of PDAC显示文摘High expression of PD-L1 marks the poor prognosis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinomas(PDAC).However, the regulatory mechanism of PD-L1 remains elusive. We recently reported that cancer Forkhead box protein 3(Cancer-FOXP3 or C-FOXP3)promoted immune evasion of PDAC by recruiting Treg cells into PDAC via upregulation of CCL5.In this study,we confirmed that PD-L1 was overexpressed in PDAC samples from two independent cohorts of patients with radical resection.Moreover,C-FOXP3 was colocalized and correlated with the expression of PD-L1 in tumor cells at the mRNA and protein levels, and this finding was confirmed by the The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)database.Chromatin immunoprecipitation(ChIP)revealed that C-FOXP3 directly bound to the promoter region of PD-L1 in pancreatic cancer cells.Furthermore, overexpression of C-FOXP3 activated the luciferase reporter gene under the control of the PD-L1 promoter. However, mutation of the binding motif-a completely reversed the luciferase activity. In addition,C-FOXP3-induced upregulation of PD-L1 effectively inhibited the activity of CD8+T cells.Based on our recent finding that the CCL-5 antibody achieved a better response to PDAC models with high C-FOXP3 levels,we further demonstrated that the PD-L1 antibody strengthened the antitumor effect of CCL-5 blockade in xenograft and orthotopic mouse models with high C-FOXP3 levels. In conclusion,C-FOXP3 directly activates PD-L1 and represents a core transcription factor that mediates the immune escape of PDAC.Combined blockade of PD-L1 and CCL-5 may provide an effective therapy for patients with PDAC that have high C-FOXP3 levels. | Xiuchao Wang Xin Li Xunbin Wei Haiping Jiang Chungen Lan Shengyu Yang Han Wang Yanhui Yang Caijuan Tian Zanmei Xu Jiangyan Zhang Jihui Hao He Ren | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 11
Classification and regionalization of the forming environment of windblown sand disasters along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘Through the systematic field survey and observations, the factor quantification as well as setting the criteria, the sand disaster-forming environment along the Tarim Desert Highway can be divided into four grades by the classification and regionalization based on fuzzy mathematics. The length of the regions with significant sand disaster accounted for 37.1% of the total highway length. Particularly, the area along the Tarim Desert Highway, based on the sand disaster-forming environment classification as well as the difference in the five basic landform units along the highway, combined with the difference of wind regime, can be divided into five regions, in which the length of the regions suffering severe sand damage occupied 64.3% of the total highway length. In addition, the index of disaster formation grade along the highway decreased from north to south, showing a repeated spatial pattern in small length scales. | LEI JiaQiang LI ShengYu FAN DongDong ZHOU HongWei GU Feng QIU YongZhi XU Bo LIU Shang DU WenYi YAN ZengHui WANG YongChang | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2: | 11
Effects of natural covers on soil evaporation of the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘The control of soil evaporation is one of important approaches to save water. The artificially simulated evaporation experiments have been conducted in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert to reveal the effects of the natural covers on the soil evaporation of the Tarim Desert Highway shelterbelt as well as provide some insights in the efficient utilization of water resources and optimization of irrigation systems. The results showed that (1) All the covers, including the sand deposit, the salt crust, the litter, the sand-litter mixed layer and so on, can significantly inhibit the soil water evaporation. Specifically, the daily evaporation, the total evaporation, and the evaporation rate in covered sands were much smaller than that of sands without cover. The cover inhibition effects increased with the cover thickness. Particularly, the soil evaporation of the covered sands was less affected by external and internal factors than that of the bare sands. Moreover, the variation of daily evaporation of covered sands was smaller than that of bare sands. The cumulative evaporation varied linearly with time in the covered sands whereas it varied logarithmically in the bare sands. In addition, the soil evaporation in the bare sands showed significantly different characteristics in the early and late stages of the evaporation. (2) All the covers exhibited the significant inhibiting effect on the soil evaporation, and the inhibition efficiency increased logarithmically with the cover thickness. However, as the cover thickness was above a certain value, the increase in the inhibition efficiency was slow. Particularly, at a cover thickness of 2 cm, there was no obvious difference in the inhibition efficiency among all kinds of covers. The maximum inhibition efficiency as calculated from the daily evaporation on the first day of irrigation was: sand-litter mixed layer (79.92%) > litter layer (78.96%) > salt crust (75.58%) > sand bed (74.11%), whereas the average inhibiting efficiency as calculated from the cumulative soil evaporation at the end of an irrigation cycle (the fourth day) was: salt crust (67.78%) > sand-litter mixed layer (66.72%) > sand deposit (63.28%) > litter layer (61.74%). | ZHOU HongWei LI ShengYu SUN ShuGuo XU XinWen LEI JiaQiang LIU Shang DU WenYi YAN Zeng WANG YongChang | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2: | 11
Impact of anthropogenic drivers on subaqueous topographical change in the Datong to Xuliujing reach of the Yangtze River显示文摘Changes of subaqueous topography in shallow offshore water pose safety risks for embankments, navigation, and ports. This study conducted measurements of subaqueous topography between Datong and Xuliujing in the Yangtze River using a Sea Bat 7125 multi-beam echo sounder, and the channel change from 1998 to 2013 was calculated using historical bathymetry data. The study revealed several important results:(1)the overall pattern of changes through the studied stretch of the river was erosion–deposition–erosion.Erosion with a volume 700×10~6m^3occurred in the upper reach, deposition of about 204×10~6m^3occurred in the middle reach, and erosion of about 602×10~6m^3occurred in the lower reach.(2)Dunes are the most common microtopographic feature, accounting for 64.3%of the Datong to Xuliujing reach, followed by erosional topography and flat river topography, accounting for 27.6%and 6.6%,respectively.(3)Human activities have a direct impact on the development of the microtopography. For instance, the mining of sand formed holes on the surface of dunes with lengths of 20–35 m and depths of 3–5 m.We concluded that the overall trend of erosion(net erosion volume of 468×10~6m^3)occurred in the study area mainly because of the decreased sediment discharge following the closure of the Three Gorges Dam.However, other human activities were also impact factors of topographic change.Use of embankments and channel management reduced channel width, restricted river meandering, and exacerbated the erosion phenomenon. | Shuwei ZHENG Heqin CHENG Shengyu SHI Wei XU Quanping ZHOU Yuehua JIANG Fengnian ZHOU Minxiong CAO | 2018 | Science China Earth Sciences2018,61,7: | 10
The salt accumulation at the shifting aeolian sandy soil surface with high salinity groundwater drip irrigation in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert显示文摘The EC analysis and water serial sampling was performed in the Tarim Desert Highway shelterbelt to explore the water and salt dynamics of the shallow aeolian sandy soil ( 0-30cm) under high salinity groundwater drip irrigation. It was found that in one irrigation cycle, the EC of the shallow shifting aeolian sandy soil ( 0-30cm) increased while the water content decreased. The EC of the surface aeolian sandy soil at the wetting front was far greater than that of the wetting area or the outside of the wetting area. During the irrigation cycle, the EC of the wetting front and the wetting area changed at a significant magnitude, whereas the EC of the outside of the wetting area remained largely steady. The horizontal influence distance of drip irrigation on the salt accumulation at the soil surface was about 100 cm, and the vertical influence depth was 5 cm. The three most abundant ions in the accumulated salt at the aeolian sandy soil surface were Na+, Cl- and SO42-. The salt accumulation at the soil surface was influenced by air temperature, wind speed, mineralization of irrigation water, sand burial thickness, soil texture, and litter content. | ZHANG JianGuo XU XinWen LEI JiaQiang SUN ShuGuo FAN JingLong LI ShengYu GU Feng QIU YongZhi XU Bo | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2: | 10

Damage by wind-blown sand and its control measures along the Taklimakan Desert Highway in China显示文摘Desertification is one of the most serious environmental problems in the world, especially in the arid desert regions.Combating desertification, therefore,is an urgent task on a regional or even global scale. The Taklimakan Desert in China is the second largest mobile desert in the world and has been called the''Dead Sea''due to few organisms can exist in such a harsh environment. The Taklimakan Desert Highway, the longest desert highway(a total length of 446 km)across the mobile desert in the world, was built in the 1990s within the Taklimakan Desert. It has an important strategic significance regarding oil and gas resources exploration and plays a vital role in the socio-economic development of southern Xinjiang,China.However,wind-blow sand seriously damages the smoothness of the desert highway and,in this case, mechanical sand control system(including sand barrier fences and straw checkerboards)was used early in the life of the desert highway to protect the road.Unfortunately, more than 70%of the sand barrier fences and straw checkerboards have lost their functions, and the desert highway has often been buried and frequently blocked since 1999.To solve this problem,a long artificial shelterbelt with the length of 437 km was built along the desert highway since 2000.However,some potential problems still exist for the sustainable development of the desert highway, such as water shortage, strong sandstorms, extreme environmental characteristics and large maintenance costs. The study aims to provide an overview of the damages caused by wind-blown sand and the effects of sand control measures along the Taklimakan Desert Highway.Ultimately,we provide some suggestions for the biological sand control system to ensure the sustainable development of the Taklimakan Desert Highway, such as screening drought-resistant species to reduce the irrigation requirement and ensure the sound development of groundwater, screening halophytes to restore vegetation in the case of soil salinization, and planting cash crops, such as Cistanche,Wolfberry,Apocynum and other cash crops to decrease the high cost of maintenance on highways and shelterbelts. | LI Congjuan WANG Yongdong LEI Jiaqiang XU Xinwen WANG Shijie FAN Jinglong LI Shengyu | 2021 | Journal of Arid Land2021,13,1: | 9
Ecological stability of Tarim Desert Highway shelterbelt显示文摘The Tarim Desert Highway shelterbelt, located in hinterland of Taklimakan Desert, is irrigated by underground saline water, with three to thirty gram per litter mineral degrees. The sustain-ability and stability are affected by multifarious stress. The structural and functional characteristics of shelterbelt are studied to probe into correlation between environment and shelterbelt. On basis, decision analysis is applied to study ecological stability of the Tarim Desert Highway shelterbelt, to screen out limited factors, to establish general index system, and to evaluate the stability of the shelterbelt nowadays. Finally, the concept of ecological stability is utilized to manage the artificial ecosystem. The results show that the artificial ecosystem is relatively flimsy, whose stability can be increased by adjusting stand structure and improving the nutrient cycle. | ZHOU Zhibin XU Xinwen LEI Jiaqiang LI Shengyu | 2006 | Chinese Science Bulletin2006,51,A01: | 8
Effects of dietary supplementation with essential oils and protease on growth performance, antioxidation, inflammation and intestinal function of weaned pigs显示文摘This experiment evaluated the impacts of essential oils(EO)and protease(PRO),independently or in combination,on growth performance, antioxidation, inflammation and intestinal function of weaned pigs. One hundred and sixty weaned pigs(21 d of age,BW of 6.74±0.20 kg)were randomly divided into 4 treatments with 8 replicate pens of 5 pigs per pen.Dietary treatments included the following:1)control diet(CON),2)CON with 300 mg/kg essential oils(EO),3)CON with 500 mg/kg protease(PRO),4)CON with 300 mg/kg essential oil and 500 mg/kg protease(EO + PRO).On d 8,one pig from each penwas selected for sampling. The remaining pigs were fed for an additional week and growth performance was monitored during this period.Dietary treatments had no marked effects(P>0.05)on the growth performance of pigs. However, pigs receiving EO diet had higher(P<0.05)serumglutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity,and tended to decrease(P=0.063)serum concentration of tumor necrosis factor-a(TNF-a).In addition, pigs receiving EO diet had higher(P<0.05)abundances of phylum Actinobacteria, and genera Bifidobacterium, and lower(P<0.05)phylum Bacteroidetes and genera Alloprevotella in colonic digesta.Pigs receiving PRO diet decreased(P<0.05)the serum concentration of malondialdehyde(MDA)and diamine oxidase activity,increased(P<0.05)the villus height and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth in duodenum, increased sucrase activity in jejunal mucosa, and also increased the abundance of phylum Actinobacteria in colonic digesta.Furthermore, the synergistic effects of EO and PROwas observed(P<0.05)for pigs with decreasing serum TNF-a concentration and increasing serum GSH-Px activity.Collectively, the results indicated that dietary supplementation of EO and PRO had no significant effects on growth performance of weaned pigs.EO diet appeared to improve antioxidant activity and intestinal microbiota, while PRO diet improved intestinal morphology and digestive enzyme activity, and there was a synergistic effect of EO and PRO on reducing inflammatory parameters in weaned pigs. | Xie Peng Qiang Zhou Cheng Wu Jian Zhao Quan Tan Ying He Liang Hu Zhengfeng Fang Yan Lin Shengyu Xu Bin Feng Jian Li Yong Zhuo Chris Van Ginneken Xuemei Jiang De Wu Lianqiang Che | 2022 | Animal Nutrition2022,,2: | 8
The temporal and spatial fluctuation of the groundwater level along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘In this work, a groundwater monitor section along the Tarim Desert Highway was set up, and the groundwater level data were recorded. The temporal and spatial fluctuations of the groundwater level were analyzed based on the groundwater level measurements, hydrologic data, the groundwater/surface water interconversion theory and the groundwater dynamics. The spatial distribution of groundwater is mostly affected by sand dune height and landform variation. The four primary temporal influence factors of groundwater level can be ordered in decreasing significance as: shelterbelt pumping > vertical leakage > river flow change > runoff replenishment. The runoff replenishment has the biggest influence range, and the shelterbelt pumping has the smallest influence range. The groundwater level fluctuates annually in a natural pattern. | FAN JingLong XU XinWen LEI JaQiang ZHAO JingFeng LI ShengYu WANG HaiFeng ZHANG JianGuo ZHOU HongWei | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2: | 6
Inclusion of purified dietary fiber during gestation improved the reproductive performance of sows显示文摘Background: This study aimed to investigate the impacts of guar gum and cellulose as the source of dietary fiber during gestation on the reproductive performance of sows. Methods: A total of 210 sows(parities 3–6) were randomly allocated into six diets(n = 35) throughout gestation to feed graded levels of dietary fiber(DF), including a corn-soybean meal-based control diet with no wheat bran inclusion(CON, 12.5% DF), a wheat bran-rich diet(DF1, 17.4% DF), and another 4 diets(DF2, 17.7% DF;DF3, 18.1%DF;DF4, 18.4% DF;DF5, 18.8% DF) in which wheat bran were equally substituted by 1%, 2%, 3% and 4% purified FIBER MIX(guar gum and cellulose, 1:4). All sows received similar DE and other nutrients throughout gestation. Results: DF treatment during gestation resulted in normal fecal score(1 to 5 with 1 = dry and 5 = watery) in sows compared with those received the CON diet(P < 0.05). The number of total born piglets had a tendency to be affected by dietary treatment(P = 0.07), and correlation analysis revealed a linear response of total born to dietary fiber levels during gestation(P < 0.01). Sows received the DF2, DF3, and DF5 diets during gestation had a greater ADFI during lactation compared with those in the CON group(P < 0.05) without affecting the daily body weight gain of suckling piglets. Gut microbiota compositions were dramatically changed by the gestation stage and some of those were changed by DF inclusion. Fecal acetate, propionate, and butyrate of sows were markedly increased in late gestation, and butyrate contents in feces of gestating sows were significantly affected by DF levels(P < 0.01).Serum concentrations of pro-inflammatory TNF-α were decreased and anti-inflammatory IL-10 was increased on day30 of gestation by DF levels(P < 0.05).Conclusions: In summary, increasing dietary fiber levels by guar gum and cellulose during gestation improved the reproductive performance of sows, which might be related to changes in immunity and gut microbiota of sows. | Yong Zhuo Bo Feng Yuedong Xuan Lianqiang Che Zhengfeng Fang Yan Lin Shengyu Xu Jian Li Bing Feng De Wu | 2020 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2020,11,4: | 4
Topographical changes of ground surface affected by the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway显示文摘To study the effects of sand protection project on modern aeolian landform, the types, distribution, and intensity of topographical changes of the ground surface affected by the shelterbelt along the Tarim Desert Highway were determined by measuring the deflation and deposition of sand surface in the Tazhong area located in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert. The results showed that (1) the newly-formed landform in sand protection systems is dominated by aeolian deposition including the small-scale Nabkha Dunes, the medium-scale sheet-like sand deposition and the large-scale ridge-like sand deposition. To some degree, aeolian deflation landform can also be formed in the open space in the shelterbelt. Furthermore, it is difficult for aeolian deflation landform to develop in a large scale in the interdunes. However, aeolian deflation landform can be developed in a large-scale on the windward slope of secondary dunes in longitudinal complex sand ridges; (2) on the windward side of the sand protection systems, both the morphology and strike of dwarf mobile dunes in the interdunes are changed by the sand-obstructing forest belts and the ridge-like sand deposition around it. The wind- ward slope of the ridge-like deposition around the sand-obstructing forest belt forms a stable ground surface. After being damaged by forward-moving dunes in a short period, the ground surface is re- covered gradually; (3) on the leeward side of the sand protection systems, aeolian deflations are formed widely. Particularly, the deflation depression is formed in the interdunes. In addition, the dunes in the region with highly topographic relief are cut flat by aeolian deflations; thereafter its relief of to- pography is reduced. The above analysis indicates that shelterbelts have obvious effects on the windward wind-sand flux in terms of dissipating energy and intercepting sand. With the recovery of wind velocity on the leeward side of the sand protection systems, the wind-sand flux gradually tends to be unsaturated; therefore the sand surface deflation is formed. | LI ShengYu LEI JiaQiang XU XinWen WANG HaiFeng FAN JingLong GU Feng QIU YongZhi XU Bo GONG Qing ZHENG Wei | 2008 | Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S2: | 4
Dietary energy intake affects fetal survival and development during early and middle pregnancy in Large White and Meishan gilts显示文摘This experiment was designed to determine the effects of variations in dietary energy intake on reproductive performance and gene expression of luteal and endometrium tissues in Large White(LW)and Meishan(MS) gilts during early and middle pregnancy. After insemination, 32 LW gilts were assigned to high and low(HE_Land LE_L, 14.23 and 12.56 MJ DE/kg, respectively) diet treatment groups, while 32 MS gilts were allocated to HE_M and LE_M(12.56 and 10.88 MJ DE/kg) groups. Gilts were slaughtered on days 35, 55 and 90 of gestation. The fetal survival and luteal progesterone(P_4) concentration in the HE_Lgroup were higher on day 35 but lower on day 90 of gestation compared with the LE_L group(P < 0.05) for LW gilts. However, fetal survival and luteal P_4 concentration on day 35 of gestation were greater(P < 0.05) in the LE_M group than in the HE_M group for MS gilts, but no significant difference in mid-gestation was showed. The fetal weights of both breeds were higher for the high energy diets compared with the respective control group on day 90 of gestation(P < 0.05). In addition, the m RNA levels of P_4 synthesis-related proteins had correlated with luteal P_4 concentration in both breeds. Further, endometrial levels of uteroferrin(ACP5), retinol-binding protein 4(RBP_4) and secreted phosphoprotein 1(SPP1) m RNA were upregulated in the HE_Lgroup on day 35 of gestation but ACP5 and SPP1 were downregulated on day 55 of gestation compared with the LE_Lgroup(P < 0.05) for LW gilts. In MS gilts, diet only affected the expression of SPP1(P < 0.05). Our results revealed the differential sensitivity of LW and MS breeds to variations in dietary energy intake. For LW gilts, the HE_Lgroup improved fetal survival on day 35 but a sustained high energy diet decreased fetal survival on day 90 of gestation. The differences in dietary energy intake did not influence fetal survival on day 90 of gestation but the higher energy diet did increase fetal weight in the MS breed compared with the lower energy intake diet. These results may be due to differential luteal secretion activity and endometrium gene expression in these two breeds. | Long Che Zhenguo Yang Mengmeng Xu Ziyun Zhang Peilin Liu Shengyu Xu Lianqiang Che Yan Lin Zhengfeng Fang Bin Feng Jian Li De Wu | 2015 | Animal Nutrition2015,,3: | 4
A novel Cu-doped high entropy alloy with excellent comprehensive performances for marine application显示文摘High entropy alloy(HEA)has attracted great interests as one of the promising multifunctional materials in marine applications. However,Cu as an effective biocide tends to form segregation in HEA,which could deteriorate corrosion and induce brittle fracture.Herein,we report a strategy to tailor the existing form of Cu in HEA from undesired large-scale segregation to uniform distribution with dispersed nanoscale precipitation, while retaining the unique structure characteristics of HEA.Eliminating Cu segregation improves toughness and avoids serious corrosion in the grain boundary.Uniform distribution with dispersed nanoscale precipitation of Cu further enhances the antifouling and lubricating abilities of Cu-doped HEA.Tailored AlCoCrFeNiCu_(0.5)HEA in this work has excellent comprehensive properties combining good mechanical properties, outstanding antifouling abilities, superior resistance to corrosion and wear.Furthermore, the corresponded mechanisms are discussed in terms of Cu-segregation-eliminated,nanoscale-Cu-precipitate-forming and comprehensive properties. | Yuan Yu Nannan Xu Shengyu Zhu Zhuhui Qjao Jianbin Zhang Jun Yang Weimin Liu | 2021 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2021,,10: | 3
Transfer of β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate from sows to their offspring and its impact on muscle fiber type transformation and performance in pigs显示文摘Background: Previous studies suggested that supplementation of lactating sows with β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate(HMB) could improve the performance of weaning pigs, but there were little information in the muscle fiber type transformation of the offspring and the subsequent performance in pigs from weaning through finishing in response to maternal HMB consumption. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of supplementing lactating sows with HMB on skeletal muscle fiber type transformation and growth of the offspring during d 28 and180 after birth. A total of 20 sows according to their body weight were divided into the control(CON, n = 10) or HMB groups(HMB, n = 10). Sows in the HMB group were supplemented with β-hydroxy-β-methylbutyrate calcium(HMB-Ca) 2 g/kg feed during d 1 to 27 of lactation. After weaning, 48 mixed sex piglets were blocked by sow treatment and fed standard diets for post-weaning, growing, finishing periods. Growth performance was recorded during d 28 to 180 after birth. Pigs were slaughtered on d 28(n = 6/treatment) and 180(n = 6/treatment) postnatal and the longissimus dorsi(LD) was collected, respectively. Results: The HMB-fed sows during lactation showed increased HMB concentration(P < 0.05) in milk and LD of weaning piglets(P < 0.05). In addition, offsprings in HMB group had a higher finishing BW and lean percentage than did pigs in CON group(P < 0.05), meanwhile, compared with pigs from sows fed the CON diet, pigs from sows fed HMB diet showed higher type Ⅱ muscle fiber cross-sectional area(CSA), elevated myosin heavy chain(MyHC) Ⅱb and Sox6 mRNA, and fast-MyHC protein levels in LD(P < 0.05).Conclusions: HMB supplemented to sow diets throughout lactation increases the levels of HMB in maternal milk and skeletal muscle of pigs during d 28 after birth and promotes subsequent performance of pigs between d 28 and 180 of age by enhancing glycolytic muscle fiber transformation. | Haifeng Wan Jiatao Zhu Caimei Wu Pan Zhou Yong Shen Yan Lin Shengyu Xu Lianqiang Che Bin Feng Jian Li Zhengfeng Fang De Wu | 2017 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2017,8,2: | 2
