CLASSIFICATION OF GEAR FAULTS USING HIGHER-ORDER STATISTICS AND SUPPORT VECTOR MACHINES显示文摘Gears alternately mesh and detach in driving process, and then working conditions of gears are alternately changing, so they are easy to be spalled and worn. But because of the effect of additive gaussian measurement noises, the signal-to-noises ratio is low; their fault features are difficult to extract. This study aims to propose an approach of gear faults classification, using the cumulants and support vector machines. The cumulants can eliminate the additive gaussian noises, boost the signal-to-noises ratio. Generalisation of support vector machines as classifier, which is employed structural risk minimisation principle, is superior to that of conventional neural networks, which is employed traditional empirical risk minimisation principle. Support vector machines as the classifier, and the third and fourth order cumulants as input, gears faults are successfully recognized. The experimental results show that the method of fault classification combining cumulants with support vector machines is very effective. | Lai Wuxing Zhang Guicai Shi Tielin Yang ShuziSchool of Mechanical Science and Engineering, Huazhong University of Science and Technology,Wuhan 430074, China | 2002 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2002,15,3: | 6

Investigation on color variation of Morpho butterfly wings hierarchical structure based on PCA显示文摘Morpho butterfly wings show brilliant blue color, which has a close relationship with the hierarchical micro/nano structures on the surface of scales. When liquids such as methanol, ethanol and isopropanol with different refractive indexes drop onto the scales, the reflectance of wings would decrease. The main peaks of reflectance shift to the right and the scales turn to yel-low-green.After the liquids volatilizes completely, the scales revert to the original blue color. The typical micro/nano struc-tures of Morpho butterfly wing scales are modeled, and the reflectance variation in the course of dropping liquids is simulated.Furthermore, the principal component analysis(PCA) method is employed to analyze the experimental and simulation reflec-tance data, extract principal components and reduce dimensions. As a result, the curves mapping the reflectance variation are clearly shown in the coordinate system consisting of three principal components. The typical color variation of scales during the dropping process could be monitored, and different kinds of liquids could be obviously distinguished according to the dis-tributed regions of mapping points. This study provides guidance to environmental media detecting as well as data processing, and enhances the fabrication and application of the mimic Morpho butterfly wings micro/nano structures. | JIANG Xuan SHI TieLin ZUO HaiBo YANG XueFeng WU WenJun LIAO GuangLan | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,1: | 2
Experimental Analysis of Microscale Laser Shock Processing on Metallic Material Using Excimer Laser显示文摘Microscale laser shock processing (μLSP), also known as laser shock processing in microscale, is a technique that uses microscale focused laser beam to induce high pressure plasma and generates plastic deformation and compressive residual stress in target materials, thus improves fatigue or stress corrosion cracking resistance of MEMS (Micro Electromechanical Systems) devices made of such a material. Many works have been reported about the research and experiment for μLSP. But the diameters of 50–200 μm were used at the first time for this field, which was useful for treating micro-device components with larger area and curved surface. The excimer laser was used firstly on μLSP for shorter wavelength than that of used in previous researches. The determination method of laser spot size at micro-level spatial resolution was presented. Under these conditions, plastic deformation, the stress analysis and microhardness with different pulse number, pulse energy and pulse spacing were investigated. Especially the residual stress distribution with depth treated by μLSP, was first investigated. Experiment results showed that the material performance was improved remarkably after μLSP. | Zhigang Che Liangcai Xiong Tielin Shi Huayang Cheng Likun Yang | 2009 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2009,25,6: | 2
A genome wide association study between copy number variation (CNV) and human height in Chinese population显示文摘Copy number variation (CNV) is a type of genetic variation which may have important roles in phenotypic variability and disease susceptibility. To hunt for genetic variants underlying human height variation, we performed a genome wide CNV association study for human height in 618 Chinese unrelated subjects using Affymetrix 500K array set. After adjusting for age and sex, we found that four CNVs at 6p21.3, 8p23.3-23.2, 9p23 and 16p12.1 were associated with human height (with borderline significant p value: 0.013, 0.011, 0.024, 0.049; respectively). However, after multiple tests correction, none of them was associated with human height. We observed that the gain of copy number (more than 2 copies) at 8p23.3-23.2 was associated with lower height (normal copy number vs. gain of copy number: 161.2 cm vs. 153.7 cm, p = 0.011), which accounted for 0.9% of height variation. Loss of copy number (less than 2 copies) at 6p21.3 was associated with 0.8% lower height (loss of copy number vs. normal copy number: 154.5 cm vs. 161.1 cm, p = 0.013). Since no important genes influencing height located in CNVs at loci of 8p23.3-23.2 and 6p21.3, the two CNVs may cause the structural rear- rangements of neighbored important candidate genes, thus regulates the variation of height. Our results expand our knowledge of the genetic factors underlying height variation and the biological regulation of human height. | Xi Li Lijun Tan Xiaogang Liu Shufeng Lei Tielin Yang Xiangding Chen Fang Zhang Yue Fang Yan Guo Liang Zhang Han Yan Feng Pan Zhixin Zhang Yumei Peng Qi Zhou Lina He Xuezhen Zhu Jing Cheng Lishu Zhang Yaozhong Liu Qing Tian Hongwen Deng | 2010 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2010,37,12: | 1

A partition of unity level set method with moving knot CS-RBFs for optimizing variable stiffness composites显示文摘A partition of unity level set method with moving knot Compactly Supported Radial Basis Functions(CS-RBFs)is proposed for optimizing variable stiffness composite structures. The iso-contours of a level set function are utilized to represent the curved fiber paths, and the tan-gent vector of the iso-contour defines the orientation of fiber. The level set function of the full design domain is constructed according to the Partition of Unity(POU)method by a set of local level set functions defined on an array of overlapping subdomains, and they are constructed by using the CS-RBFs.The positions of knots are iteratively changed during the optimization to improve the performance of composite structures.Several examples of compliance minimization are presented. | Gen LI Ye TIAN Kang YANG Tielin SHI Qi XIA | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2023,36,4: | 0

A novel integrated microfluidic chip for on-demand electrostatic droplet charging and sorting显示文摘On-demand droplet sorting is extensively applied for the efficient manipulation and genome-wide analysis of individual cells.However,state-of-the-art microfluidic chips for droplet sorting still suffer from low sorting speeds, sample loss, and labor-intensive preparation procedures. Here,we demonstrate the development of a novel microfluidic chip that integrates droplet generation,on-demand electrostatic droplet charging, and high-throughput sorting. The charging electrode is a copper wire buried above the nozzle of the microchannel, and the deflecting electrode is the phosphate buffered saline in the microchannel, which greatly simplifies the structure and fabrication process of the chip. Moreover, this chip is capable of high-frequency droplet generation and sorting, with a frequency of 11.757 kHz in the drop state. The chip completes the selective charging process via electrostatic induction during droplet generation.On-demand charged microdroplets can arbitrarilymove to specific exit channels in a three-dimensional(3D)-deflected electric field, which can be controlled according to user requirements, and the flux of droplet deflection is thereby significantly enhanced.Furthermore,a lossless modification strategy is presented to improve the accuracy of droplet deflection or harvest rate from 97.49% to 99.38% by monitoring the frequency of droplet generation in real time and feeding it back to the charging signal. This chip has great potential for quantitative processing and analysis of single cells for elucidating cell-to-cell variations. | Jinhui Yao Chunhua He Jianxin Wang Canfeng Yang Ye Jiang Zhiyong Liu Guanglan Liao Tielin Shi | 2024 | Bio-Design and Manufacturing2024,7,1: | 0
