1Iatrogenic bile duct injuries from biliary tract surgery显示文摘BACKGROUND:Cholecystectomy is the most commonly performed procedure in general surgery.However,bile duct injury is a rare but still one of the most common complications.These injuries sometimes present variably after primary surgery.Timely detection and appropriate management decrease the morbidity and mortality of the operation. METHODS:Five cases of iatrogenic bile duct injury(IBDI) were managed at the Department of Surgery,First Affiliated Hospital,Xi'an Jiaotong University.All the cases who underwent both open and laparoscopic cholecystectomy had persistent injury to the biliary tract and were treated accordingly. RESULTS:Recovery of the patients was uneventful.All patients were followed-up at the surgical outpatient department for six months to three years.So far the patients have shown good recovery. CONCLUSIONS:In cases of IBDI it is necessary to perform the operation under the supervision of an experienced surgeon who is specialized in the repair of bile duct injuries,and it is also necessary to detect and treat the injury as soon as possible to obtain a satisfactory outcome.Umar Ali 2007Hepatobiliary & Pancreatic Diseases International2007,6,3:8

3医源性高位胆管损伤的外科处理显示文摘目的探讨医源性胆管损伤和狭窄的类型、重建时机、促成损伤因素及胆道重建技术等对疗效的影响。方法回顾性分析了94例医源性胆管损伤患者,分为术中诊断、术后早期发现、引流或重建术后又出现狭窄等3组接受胆道再建手术。结果本组病例无手术死亡情况。术中诊断的31例中,22例系未辨清胆囊管和肝总管、胆总管联合部。随诊3-15年,疗效优者75例(79.8%),良者13例(13.8%),优良率达93.6%,差者6例(6.4%)。差者中已死亡5例(占5.3%,5/94)。结论除熟悉病理解剖关系外,经验和谨慎对预防医源性胆管损伤至关重要。胆道重建的疗效主要受Bismuth分型和胆道重建技术等因素的影响。Umar Ali 潘承恩 马清涌 于良 刘青光 吕毅 2007西安交通大学学报(医学版)2007,28,3:2
4热轧镁/铝复合板的组织演变与拉伸性能研究显示文摘在不同压下率(40%、45%和50%)条件下采用普通平辊热轧技术制备了镁/铝复合板,并对50%压下率下制备得到的复合板进行了不同温度的退火处理,分析了不同压下率和不同退火温度对界面组织和拉伸性能的影响。结果表明,单道次轧制后,未经退火处理时,镁/铝复合板界面结合良好,无裂纹、金属间化合物出现。随着轧制压下率的增加,轧制态试样的抗拉强度提高。当压下率为50%时,最大抗拉强度为278 MPa。在50%的压下率下,随着退火温度的升高,镁/铝复合板的金属间化合物厚度增加。但是随着退火温度的升高,抗拉强度降低,当退火温度为350℃时,抗拉强度最低为220 MPa。BASHIR Muhammad Umar 李莎 刘志栋 REHMAN Atta Ur ALI Usman 王涛 2023热加工工艺2023,52,14:2
5肌梭在失重性肌萎缩与肌肉痛中的作用(英文)显示文摘目前,中、长期航天飞行会对航天员的器官系统造成损害,如离心性下肢抗重力肌发生明显萎缩,直接影响宇航员的太空飞行及返回大气层着陆时的准确操纵与应急离舱能力。肌肉萎缩还会严重影响宇航员返回地面后的正常工作和生活。本文将对失重或模拟失重环境下的肌肉结构及功能变化的相关研究给予一定的文献回顾。结合相关肌肉痛研究,我们提出'肌萎缩(肌梭变化为核心)-肌肉痛'这一动态双向可塑反应模式假设。通过以肌梭为研究核心的肌萎缩/肌肉痛研究,可能会更好地阐明肌肉萎缩及肌肉痛发生过程中的神经机理,并为临床提供更好的治疗方案。Ali Umar 樊小力 尤浩军 2009Neuroscience Bulletin2009,25,5:2

7Environmental degradation and poverty:A bibliometric review显示文摘Understanding the mutual logic between environment and poverty mitigation is vital for achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).This study conducts a bibliometric review of the available literature on environmental degradation and poverty and summarizes the existing researches.By applying suitable keywords,we retrieved 175 peer-reviewed articles from the Web of Science published between 1993 and 2020.We utilized the visualization of similarity viewer(VOSviewer)for this bibliometric study and classified the leading publications,prominent journals,and institutions.Furthermore,our bibliometric review found a phenomenon in investigation that people are indifference about the impact of environmental degradation on rising poverty levels in poor and developing countries.In terms of contributions,this study classifies 4 leading thematic clusters that identify how environmental degradation increases poverty.By employing text mining analysis,this research connects specific environmental terms accountable for the recent rise in global poverty.We finally recommend that including other databases to strengthen the findings of environmental degradation and poverty is one of the future research directions.Muhammad Ali Khan BURKI Umar BURKI Usama NAJAM 2021Regional Sustainability2021,2,4:1
8Clinical presentation,management,screening and surveillance for colorectal cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic显示文摘Management of colorectal cancer(CRC)was severely affected by the changes implemented during the pandemic,and this resulted in delayed elective presentation,increased emergency presentation,reduced screening and delayed definitive therapy.This review was conducted to analyze the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic on management of CRC and to identify the changes made in order to adapt to the pandemic.We performed a literature search in PubMed,Medline,Index Medicus,EMBASE,SCOPUS,Reference Citation Analysis(https://www.referencecitationanalysis.com/)and Google Scholar using the following keywords in various combinations:Colorectal cancer,elective surgery,emergency surgery,stage upgrading,screening,surveillance and the COVID-19 pandemic.Only studies published in English were included.To curtail the spread of COVID-19 infection,there were modifications made in the management of CRC.Screening was limited to high risk individuals,and the screening tests of choice during the pandemic were fecal occult blood test,fecal immunochemical test and stool DNA testing.The use of capsule colonoscopy and open access colonoscopy was also encouraged.Blood-based tests like serum methylated septin 9 were also encouraged for screening of CRC during the pandemic.The presentation of CRC was also affected by the pandemic with more patients presenting with emergencies like obstruction and perforation.Stage migration was also observed during the pandemic with more patients presenting with more advanced tumors.The operative therapy of CRC was altered by the pandemic as more emergencies surgeries were done,which may require exteriorization by stoma.This was to reduce the morbidity associated with anastomosis and encourage early discharge from the hospital.There was also an initial reduction in laparoscopic surgical procedures due to the fear of aerosols and COVID-19 infection.As we gradually come out of the pandemic,we should remember the lessons learned and continue to apply them even after the pandemic passes.Sami Akbulut Abdirahman Sakulen Hargura Ibrahim Umar Garzali Ali Aloun Cemil Colak 2022World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,26:1

14Three new anthraquinone derivatives isolated from Symplocos racemosa and their antibiofilm activity显示文摘Three new alkyl substituted anthraquinone derivatives, trivially named as symploquinones A-C(Compounds 1-3) were isolated from Symplocos racemosa. The structures of these compounds were determined on the basis of extensive spectroscopic analyses(UV, IR, Mass, ~1 H-and ^(13)C-NMR, and two-dimensional(2D) NMR techniques). The resulting data were also compared with the reported literature. These compounds were then subjected to antibacterial or antibiofilm testing. Compounds 1 and 3 exhibited good antibacterial activity in the concentration range of 160-83 μg·m L^(-1) against Streptococcus mutans, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus and Proteus mirabilis. Both compounds were further screened for anti-biofilm activity, which revealed promising activities at sub-MIC concentrations. 16Evaluation of antileishmanial,antibacterial and brine shrimp cytotoxic potential of crude methanolic extract of Herb Ocimum basilicum(Lamiacea)显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To collect and screen for ethnopharmacological properties(antileishmanial,antibacterial and brine lethality assays) of medicinal plant Ocimum basilicum from Peshawar region(34.008 latitude and 71.57 altitudes).METHODS:In the present study a general antileishmanial activity against Leishmania tropica strain was carried out.The antibacterial potential of the plant was performed against 06 gram positive and 06 gram negative bacteria.Brine shrimp cytotoxicity assay at different concentrations were investigated.RESULTS:The anti-promastigotes profile of the plant showed good antileishmanial activity exhibited LC_(50) value 21.67 μg/mL.The result for gram positive antibacterial activity revealed that the O.basilicum leaves extract possesses significant inhibitory activity at highest two concentrations ranging from20.66 ± 0.31 to 31.86 ± 0.80 for Clostridium perfringens type C and Bacillus subtitilis,respectively,as compared to the gentamycin(27.36 ± 0.55 and21.80 ± 0.72,respectively).For gram negative bacteria good activity was observed.A highest zone of inhibition was recorded for Pseudomonas aeroginosa(28.83 ± 0.28) atthe highest concentration(10 mg/mL).The LC_(50) value obtained for brine shrimp lethality assay was 91.56 μg/mL.CONCLUSION:The herb basil possesses effective cidal activities which make this plant a good candidate for the isolation of antiprotozoal and antibacterial compounds which may lead to the development of novel drug.Imran Khan Kafeel Ahmad Ali Talha Khalil Jangrez Khan Yusra Ali Khan Muhammad Shahab Saqib Muhammad Naveed Umar Hilal Ahmad 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,3:0

18Outcome of split liver transplantation vs living donor liver transplantation:A systematic review and meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND The outcomes of liver transplantation(LT)from different grafts have been studied individually and in combination,but the reports were conflicting with some researchers finding no difference in both short-term and long-term outcomes between the deceased donor split LT(DD-SLT)and living donor LT(LDLT).AIM To compare the outcomes of DD-SLT and LDLT we performed this systematic review and meta-analysis.METHODS This systematic review was performed in compliance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis guidelines.The following databases were searched for articles comparing outcomes of DD-SLT and LDLT:PubMed;Google Scholar;Embase;Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials;the Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews;and Reference Citation Analysis(https://www.referencecitationanalysis.com/).The search terms used were:“liver transplantation;”“liver transplant;”“split liver transplant;”“living donor liver transplant;”“partial liver transplant;”“partial liver graft;”“ex vivo splitting;”and“in vivo splitting.”RESULTS Ten studies were included for the data synthesis and meta-analysis.There were a total of 4836 patients.The overall survival rate at 1 year,3 years and 5 years was superior in patients that received LDLT compared to DD-SLT.At 1 year,the hazard ratios was 1.44(95%confidence interval:1.16-1.78;P=0.001).The graft survival rate at 3 years and 5 years was superior in the LDLT group(3 year hazard ratio:1.28;95%confidence interval:1.01-1.63;P=0.04).CONCLUSION This meta-analysis showed that LDLT has better graft survival and overall survival when compared to DD-SLT.Ibrahim Umar Garzali Sami Akbulut Ali Aloun Motaz Naffa Fuat Aksoy 2023World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery2023,15,7:0

20Genome editing in cotton:challenges and opportunities显示文摘Cotton has enormous economic potential providing high-quality protein,oil,and fibre.A large increase in cotton output is necessary due to the world’s changing climate and constantly expanding human population.In the past,conventional breeding techniques were used to introduce genes into superior cotton cultivars to increase production and to improve quality.The disadvantages of traditional breeding techniques are their time-consuming,reliance on genetic differences that are already present,and considerable backcrossing.To accomplish goals in a short amount of time,contemporary plant breeding techniques,in particular modern genome editing technologies(GETs),can be used.Numerous crop improvement initiatives have made use of GETs,such as zinc-finger nucleases,transcription-activator-like effector nucleases,clustered regularly interspaced palindromic repeats(CRISPR),and CRISPR-associated proteins systems(CRISPR/Cas)-based technologies.The CRISPR/Cas system has a lot of potential because it combines three qualities that other GETs lack:simplicity,competence,and adaptability.The CRISPR/Cas mechanism can be used to improve cotton tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses,alter gene expression,and stack genes for critical features with little possibility of segregation.The transgene clean strategy improves CRISPR acceptability addressing regulatory issues associated with the genetically modified organisms(GMOs).The research opportunities for using the CRISPR/Cas system to address biotic and abiotic stresses,fibre quality,plant architecture and blooming,epigenetic changes,and gene stacking for commercially significant traits are highlighted in this article.Furthermore,challenges to use of CRISPR technology in cotton and its potential for the future are covered in detail.KHAN Zulqurnain KHAN Sultan Habibullah AHMED Aftab IQBAL Muhammad Umar MUBARIK Muhammad Salman GHOURI Muhammad Zubair AHMAD Furqan YASEEN Saba ALI Zulfiqar KHAN Asif Ali AZHAR Muhammad Tehseen 2023Journal of Cotton Research2023,6,1:0
