Near-surface sand-dust horizontal flux in Tazhong-the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert显示文摘Tazhong is the hinterland and a sandstorm high-frequency area of the Taklimakan Desert. However, little is known about the detailed time-series of aeolian sand transport in this area. An experiment to study the sand-dust horizontal flux of near-surface was carried out in Tazhong from January to December 2009. By measuring the sand-dust horizontal flux throughout sixteen sand-dust weather processes with a 200-cm tall Big Spring Number Eight (BSNE) sampler tower, we quantitatively analyzed the vertical variation of the sand-dust horizontal flux. And the total sand-dust horizontal flux of different time-series that passed through a section of 100 cm in width and 200 cm in height was estimated combining the data of saltation movement continuously recorded by piezoelectric saltation sensors (Sensit). The results indicated that, in the surface layer ranging from 0-200 cm, the intensity of sand-dust horizontal flux decreased with the increase of the height, and the physical quantities obeyed power function well. The total sand-dust horizontal flux of the sixteen sand-dust weather processes that passed through a section of 100 cm in width and 200 cm in height was about 2,144.9 kg, the maximum of one sand-dust weather event was about 396.3 kg, and the annual total sand-dust horizontal flux was about 3,903.2 kg. The high levels of aeolian sand transport occurred during daytime, especially from 13:00 to 16:00 in the afternoon. We try to develop a new method for estimation of the detailed time-series of aeolian sand transport. | XingHua YANG Qing HE Mamtimin ALI Wen HUO XinChun LIU | 2013 | Journal of Arid Land2013,5,2: | 11
A multi-locus backbone tree for Pestalotiopsis, with a polyphasic characterization of 14 new species显示文摘Pestalotiopsis is a taxonomically confused, pathogenic and chemically creative genus requiring a critical reexamination using a multi-gene phylogeny based on ex-type and ex-epitype cultures. In this study 40 isolates of Pestalotiopsis, comprised of 28 strains collected from living and dead plant material of various host plants from China were studied by means of morphology and analysis of ITS,β–tubulin and tef1 gene sequence data.Based on molecular and morphological data we describe 14 new species(Pestalotiopsis asiatica,P.chinensis,P.chrysea,P.clavata,P.diversiseta,P.ellipsospora,P.inflexa,P.intermedia,P.linearis,P.rosea,P.saprophyta,P.umberspora,P.unicolor and P.verruculosa)and three species are epitypified(P.adusta,P.clavispora and P.foedans).Of the 10 gene regions(ACT,β-tubulin,CAL,GPDH,GS,ITS,LSU,RPB 1,SSU and tef1)utilized to resolve cryptic Pestalotiopsis species,ITS,β–tubulin and tef1 proved to be the better markers. The other gene regions were less useful due to poor success in PCR amplification and/or in their ability to resolve species boundaries. As a single gene tef1 met the requirements for an ideal candidate and functions well for species delimitation due to its better species resolution and PCR success.Althoughβ-tubulin showed fairly good differences among species,a combination of ITS,β-tubulin and tef1 gene data gave the best resolution as compared to single gene analysis. This work provides a backbone tree for 22 ex-type/epitypified species of Pestalotiopsis and can be used in future studies of the genus. | Sajeewa S.N.Maharachchikumbura Liang Dong Guo Lei Cai Ekachai Chukeatirote Wen Ping Wu Xiang Sun Pedro W.Crous D.Jayarama Bhat Eric H.C.McKenzie Ali H.Bahkali Kevin D.Hyde | 2012 | Fungal Diversity2012,,5: | 9
Convergent genomic signatures of high-altitude adaptation among domestic mammals显示文摘Abundant and diverse domestic mammals living on the Tibetan Plateau provide useful materials for investigating adaptive evolution and genetic convergence. Here,we used 327 genomes from horses, sheep, goats, cattle, pigs and dogs living at both high and low altitudes, including 73 genomes generated for this study,to disentangle the genetic mechanisms underlying local adaptation of domestic mammals.Although molecular convergence is comparatively rare at the DNA sequence level,we found convergent signature of positive selection at the gene level, particularly the EPAS1 gene in these Tibetan domestic mammals. We also reported a potential function in response to hypoxia for the gene C10 orf67,which underwent positive selection in three of the domestic mammals. Our data provide an insight into adaptive evolution of high-altitude domestic mammals, and should facilitate the search for additional novel genes involved in the hypoxia response pathway. | Dong-Dong Wu Cui-Ping Yang Ming-Shan Wang Kun-Zhe Dong Da-Wei Yan Zi-Qian Hao Song-Qing Fan Shu-Zhou Chu Qiu-Shuo Shen Li-Ping Jiang Yan Li Lin Zeng He-Qun Liu Hai-Bing Xie Yun-Fei Ma Xiao-Yan Kong Shu-Li Yang Xin-Xing Dong Ali Esmailizadeh David M Irwin Xiao Xiao Ming Li Yang Dong Wen Wang Peng Shi Hai-Peng Li Yue-Hui Ma Xiao Gou Yong-Bin Chen Ya-Ping Zhang | 2020 | National Science Review2020,7,6: | 7
Diurnal dynamics of soil respiration and the influencing factors for three land-cover types in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert,China显示文摘Knowledge of soil respiration and the influencing factors in desert ecosystems is essential to understanding carbon dynamics and responses of biotic and abiotic processes in soils to climate change. In this study, soil respiration rate(R_s) for three land-cover types(shifting sandy land, sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, and shelter forest land) in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert was measured in May 2015 using an automated soil CO_2 flux system. The effects of soil temperature(T_s) and soil water content(W_s) on R_s were also analyzed. The results showed that R_s values in shifting sandy land, sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, and shelter forest land were all low and exhibited obvious diurnal fluctuations. The establishment of straw checkerboard barriers in sandy land had no significant effect on R_s, while the establishment of shelterbelts significantly increased R_s. Shifting sandy land and sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers were carbon sinks at night and early morning and were carbon sources in the daytime, while shelter forest land always acted as a carbon source during the whole day. The synergistic effect of T_s and W_s could better explain the diurnal dynamics in R_s than single factor. In shifting sandy land and sandy land with straw checkerboard barriers, W_s was identified as a limiting factor influencing the diurnal dynamics of R_s. Furthermore, a relatively strong hysteresis loop existed between R_s and T_s. In contrast, in shelter forest land, R_s was significantly influenced by T_s, and a relatively weaker hysteresis loop existed between R_s and W_s. | YANG Fan ALI Mamtimin ZHENG Xinqian HE Qing YANG Xinghua HUO Wen LIANG Fengchao WANG Shaoming | 2017 | Journal of Arid Land2017,9,4: | 7
Numerical and experimental investigations of liquid mixing in two-stage micro-impinging stream reactors显示文摘A two-stage micro-impinging stream reactor(TS-MISR) that combined a first pre-mixing stage with a second micro-impinging stream reacting stage for continuous multi-component reacting systems has been built from commercial T-junctions and steel micro-capillaries. Both of operating parameters and reactor configurations, such as jet Reynolds number(Rej), volumetric flow ratio(R), the first-stage junction angle(φ), the connecting capillary length(Lc) and connecting capillary diameter(dc), had significant effects on the micromixing efficiency of the reactor. Such effects were investigated for both of the two stage structures, respectively, by experimental and CFD methods and were optimized for the best micromixing performance. Intensified micromixing among at least three reacting components can be achieved in a continuous mode by using TS-MISR; therefore, it is expected that the TS-MISR will produce products of higher quality with more uniform and stable element distribution. | Tianyu Guo Bin Ruan Zhiwei Liu Muhammad Ali Jamal Lixiong Wen Jianfeng Chen | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2017,25,4: | 6
Vertical distribution characteristics of dust aerosol mass concentration in the Taklimakan Desert hinterland显示文摘The different height mass concentrations of dust aerosol data from the atmosphere environment observation station(Tazhong Station)was continuously observed by instruments of Grimm 1.108,Thermo RP 1400a and TSP from January of2009 to February of 2010 in the Taklimakan Desert hinterland. Results show that:(1)The mass concentration value of 80m PM10was higher, but PM2.5and PM1.0concentrations at 80 m was obviously lower than 4 m PM10,and the value of 80 m PM1.0mass concentration was the lowest.(2)The PM mass concentrations gradually decreased from night to sunrise, with the lowest concentration at 08:00,with the mass concentration gradually increased,up to the highest concentration around18:00,and then decreased again. It was exactly the same with the changes of wind speed.(3)The high monthly average mass concentration of TSP mainly appeared from March to September, and the highest concentration was in April and May,subsequently gradually decreased. Also,March–September was a period with high value area of PM monthly average mass concentration, with the highest monthly average mass concentration of 846.0μg/m3for 4 m PM10appeared in May.The concentration of PM10was much higher than those of PM2.5and PM1.0at 80 m.There is a small difference between the concentration of PM2.5and PM1.0.Dust weather was the main factor which influenced the concentration content of the different diameter dust aerosol, and the more dust weather days, the higher content of coarse particle, conversely, fine particle was more.(4)The mass concentration of different diameter aerosols had the following sequence during dust weather:clear day | XinChun Liu YuTing Zhong Qing He XingHua Yang Ali Mamtimin Wen Huo | 2013 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2013,5,6: | 3
Ambient ammonia production via electrocatalytic nitrite reduction catalyzed by a CoP nanoarray显示文摘Industrial-scale ammonia(NH_(3))production mainly relies on the energy-intensive and environmentally unfriendly Haber-Bosch process.Such issue can be avoided by electrocatalytic N_(2) reduction which however suffers from limited current efficiency and NH3 yield.Herein,we demonstrate ambient NH_(3) production via electrochemical nitrite(NO_(2)^(-))reduction catalyzed by a CoP nanoarray on titanium mesh(CoP NA/TM).When tested in 0.1 M PBS(pH=7)containing 500 ppm N0_(2)^(-),such CoP NA/TM is capable of affording a large NH_(3) yield of 2,260.7±51.5μg·h^(-1)·cm^(-2) and a high Faradaic efficiency of 90.0±2.3%at-0.2 V vs.a reversible hydrogen electrode.Density functional theory calculations reveal that the potential-determining step for NO_(2)^(-)reduction over CoP(112)is*NO2→*NO_(2)H. | Guilai Wen Jie Liang Qian Liu Tingshuai Li Xuguang An Fang Zhang Abdulmohsen Ali Alshehri Khalid Ahmed Alzahrani Yonglan Luo Qingquan Kong Xuping Sun | 2022 | Nano Research2022,15,2: | 3
Analysis of mass concentration of atmospheric particulate matter in a sandstorm course and its affecting factors in the Taklimakan Desert显示文摘During the course of a major sandstorm from April 17 to April 23,2008 in the Taklimakan Desert, data pertaining to the mass concentrations of different-sized atmospheric particulate matter were observed continuously with Grimm 1.108,Thermo RP 1400a,TSP,and CAWS-600 instruments. The results showed that:(1) during the entire sandstorm process there were some differences between the daily mean particle concentration peaks and the hourly mean particle concentration peaks because the actual sandstorm lasted for only about 4 hr,whereas more particles were accumulated in the floating dust days before and after the actual sandstorm;(2) the intensity of the sandstorm was enhanced with the increase of wind speed, and this was related to the peak mass concentrations of atmospheric particulate matter;the wind speed directly affected the concentration of atmospheric particulate matter:the higher the wind speed, the higher the mass concentration(>0.23 μm was 39,496.5 μg/m 3,and >20.0 μm was 5,390.7 μg/m 3);(3) the concentration changes of PM 10 and TSP were also related to the course and intensity of the sandstorm;and(4) the mass concentration of atmospheric particulate matter had the following sequence during the dust weather:clear day < floating dust < floating and blowing dust < sandstorm.Temperature, relative humidity, and barometric pressure are important factors affecting the strength of storms, which could also indirectly affect the concentration change of atmospheric particulate matter. | XinChun Liu YuTing Zhong Qing He XingHua Yang Ali Mamtimin Wen Huo | 2012 | Research in Cold and Arid Regions2012,4,3: | 3
Estimation of the Land Surface Emissivity in the Hinterland of Taklimakan Desert显示文摘An accurate accounting of land surface emissivity(ε) is important both for the retrieval of surface temperatures and the calculation of the longwave surface energy budgets.Since ε is one of the important parameterizations in land surface models(LSMs),accurate accounting also improves the accuracy of surface temperatures and sensible heat fluxes simulated by LSMs.In order to obtain an accurate emissivity, this paper focuses on estimating ε from data collected in the hinterland of Taklimakan Desert by two different methods. In the first method,ε was derived from the surface broadband emissivity in the 8–14 μm thermal infrared atmospheric window, which was determined from spectral radiances observed by field measurements using a portable Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, the mean ε being 0.9051.The second method compared the observed and calculated heat fluxes under nearneutral atmospheric stability and estimated ε indirectly by minimizing the root-mean-square difference between them. The result of the second method found a mean value of 0.9042,which is consistent with the result by the first method.Although the two methods recover ε from different field experiments and data, the difference of meanvalues is 0.0009.The first method is superior to the indirect method, and is also more convenient. | LIU Yong-qiang Ali MAMTIMIN HUO Wen YANG Xing-hua LIU Xin-chun MENG Xian-yong HE Qing | 2014 | Journal of Mountain Science2014,11,6: | 3
Families of Sordariomycetes显示文摘Sordariomycetes is one of the largest classes of Ascomycota that comprises a highly diverse range of fungi characterized mainly by perithecial ascomata and inoperculate unitunicate asci. The class includes many important plant pathogens,as well as endophytes, saprobes, epiphytes, coprophilous and fungicolous, lichenized or lichenicolous taxa. They occur in terrestrial, freshwater and marine habitats worldwide. This paper reviews the 107 families of the class Sordariomycetes and provides a modified backbone tree based on phylogenetic analysis of four combined loci, with a maximum five representative taxa from each family, where available. This paper brings together for the first time, since Barrs’1990 Prodromus, descriptions, notes on the history, and plates or illustrations of type or representative taxa of each family,a list of accepted genera, including asexual genera and a key to these taxa of Sordariomycetes.Delineation of taxa is supported where possible by molecular data. The outline is based on literature to the end of 2015 and the Sordariomycetes now comprises six subclasses,32 orders,105 families and 1331 genera. The family Obryzaceae and Pleurotremataceae are excluded from the class. | Sajeewa S.N.Maharachchikumbura Kevin D.Hyde E.B.Gareth Jones E.H.C.McKenzie Jayarama D.Bhat Monika C.Dayarathne Shi-Ke Huang Chada Norphanphoun Indunil C.Senanayake Rekhani H.Perera Qiu-Ju Shang Yuanpin Xiao Melvina J.D’souza Sinang Hongsanan Ruvishika S.Jayawardena Dinushani A.Daranagama Sirinapa Konta Ishani D.Goonasekara Wen-Ying Zhuang Rajesh Jeewon Alan J.L.Phillips Mohamed A.Abdel-Wahab Abdullah M.Al-Sadi Ali H.Bahkali Saranyaphat Boonmee Nattawut Boonyuen Ratchadawan Cheewangkoon Asha J.Dissanayake Jichuan Kang Qi-Rui Li Jian Kui Liu Xing Zhong Liu Zuo-Yi Liu JJennifer Luangsa-ard Ka-Lai Pang Rungtiwa Phookamsak Itthayakorn Promputtha Satinee Suetrong Marc Stadler Tingchi Wen Nalin N.Wijayawardene | 2016 | Fungal Diversity2016,,4: | 3

Manufacturing of graded titanium scaffolds using a novel space holder technique显示文摘To optimize both the mechanical and biological properties of titanium for biomedical implants,a highly flexible powder metallurgy approach is proposed to generate porous scaffolds with graded porosities and pore sizes.Sugar pellets acting as space holders were compacted with titanium powder and then removed by dissolution in water before sintering. The morphology, pore structure, porosity and pore interconnectivity were observed by optical microscopy and SEM.The results show that the porous titanium has porosity levels and pore size gradients consistent with their design with gradual and smooth transitions at the interfaces between regions of differing porosities and/or pore sizes.Meanwhile, the porous titanium has high interconnectivity between pores and highly spherical pore shapes. In this article we show that this powder metallurgy processing technique, employing the novel sugar pellets as space-holders,can generate porous titanium foams with well-controlled graded porosities and pore sizes. This method has excellent potential for producing porous titanium structures for hard tissue engineering applications. | Yunhui Chen Damon Kent Michael Bermingham Ali Dehghan-Manshadi Gui Wang Cuie Wen Matthew Dargusch | 2017 | Bioactive Materials2017,2,4: | 2
Structural Comparison and Drug Screening of Spike Proteins of Ten SARS-CoV-2 Variants显示文摘SARS-CoV-2(severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2)has evolved many variants with stronger infectivity and immune evasion than the original strain, including Alpha,Beta,Gamma,Delta,Epsilon,Kappa, lota,Lambda, and 21H strains.Amino acid mutations are enriched in the spike protein of SARS CoV-2.which plays a crucial role in cell infetion. However, the impact of these mutations on protein structure and function is unclear.Understanding the pathophysiology and pandemic feaures of these SARS-CoV-2 variants requires knowledge of the spike protein structures. Here,we obtained the spike protein structures of 10 main globally endemic SARS CoV-2 strains using AlphaFold2.The clustering analysis based on structural similarity revealed the unique features of the mainly pandemic SARS CoV-2 Delta variants.indicating that structural clusters can reflect the current characteristics of the epidemic more accurately than those based on the protein sequence. The analysis of the binding afinities of ACE2-RBD,antibody-NTD,and antibody-RBD complexes in the different variants revealed that the recognition of antibodies against SI NTD and RBD was decreased in the variants, especally the Delta variant compared with the original strain, which may induce the immune evasion of SARS-CoV-2 variants.Furthermore,by virtual screening the ZINC database against a high-accuracy predicted structure of Delta spike protein and experimental validation,we identified multiple compounds that target S1 NTD and RBD,which might contribute towards the development of clinical anti-SARS-CoV-2 medicines. Our findings provided a basic foundation for future in vitro and in vivo investigations that might speed up the development of potential therapies for the SARS-CoV-2 va riants. | Qiangzhen Yang Xuemin Jian Ali Alamdar Shah Syed Aamir Fahira Chenxiang Zheng zijia Zhu Ke Wang Jinmai Zhang Yangin Wen Zhiqiang Li Dun Pan Tingting Lu Zhuo Wang Yongyong Shi | 2022 | Research2022,,2: | 2

Size distribution of PM_(20) observed to the north of the Tibetan Plateau显示文摘The size distribution of airborne dust particles is an important parameter in the measurement of dust emissions due to wind erosion, and a quantitative and accurate description is necessary.Observations regarding the size distribution of airborne dust particles are currently lacking in Tibetan Plateau(TP).This study aims to obtain a dust particle size distribution and compare the difference in spatial distribution at a field site(FS)and two urban observation sites(Minfeng and Hetian),in the north of the TP,under the condition of the dust-days and clear-days.The observation data was collected from 5 July to 4 August,2019.The mass concentration of dust(PM20)was measured with a 10-stage quartz crystal microbalance cascade impactor. The results suggested that 91.9%of the particles were less than 1.4μm on clear-days,and particles of d≥1.4μm increased to 27.2%with the occurrence of the dust events.More than 80%of the airborne dust particles were less than 1.4μm for each friction velocity. The proportion of d<0.7μm was the greatest at 3.0 m(above the surface, similarly hereinafter)on dust-days,while the proportion of d>0.7μm was the greatest at 0.5 m on clear-days.During urban observation, with the occurrence of dust events, the concentration of a particle size greater than 2.5μm increased most significantly in Minfeng, while the concentration of a particle size less than 0.7μm increased most significantly in Hetian. Moreover, the proportion of particles with d<0.7μm had the smallest difference, while the proportion of particles with d>1.4μm had the most obvious difference among these three sites. | ZHOU Cheng-long YANG Fan HUO Wen MAMTIMIN Ali YANG Xing-hua | 2021 | Journal of Mountain Science2021,18,2: | 1
