1Two gap-free reference genomes and a global view of the centromere architecture in rice显示文摘Rice(Oryza sativa),a major staple throughout the world and a model system for plant genomics and breeding,was the first crop genome sequenced almost two decades ago.However,reference genomes for all higher organisms to date contain gaps and missing sequences.Here,we report the assembly and analysis of gap-free reference genome sequences for two elite O.sativa xian/indica rice varieties,Zhenshan 97 and Minghui 63,which are being used as a model system for studying heterosis and yield.Gap-free reference genomes provide the opportunity for a global view of the structure and function of centromeres.We show that all rice centromeric regions share conserved centromere-specific satellite motifs with different copy numbers and structures.In addition,the similarity of CentO repeats in the same chromosome is higher than across chromosomes,supporting a model of local expansion and homogenization.Both genomes have over 395 non-TE genes located in centromere regions,of which∼41%are actively transcribed.Two large structural variants at the end of chromosome 11 affect the copy number of resistance genes between the two genomes.The availability of the two gap-free genomes lays a solid foundation for further understanding genome structure and function in plants and breeding climate-resilient varieties.Jia-Ming Song Wen-Zhao Xie Shuo Wang Yi-Xiong Guo Dal-Hoe Koo Dave Kudrna Chenbo Gong Yicheng Huang Jia-Wu Feng Wenhui Zhang Yong Zhou Andrea Zuccolo Evan Long Seunghee Lee Jayson Talag Run Zhou Xi-Tong Zhu Daojun Yuan Joshua Udall Weibo Xie Rod AWing Qifa Zhang Jesse Poland Jianwei Zhang Ling-Ling Chen 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,10:9

4Mechanism and catalytic performance for direct dimethyl ether synthesis by CO2 hydrogenation over CuZnZr/ferrierite hybrid catalyst显示文摘Direct synthesis of dimethyl ether(DME)by CO2 hydrogenation has been investigated over three hybrid catalysts prepared by different methods:co-precipitation,sol-gel,and solid grinding to produce mixed Cu,ZnO,ZrO2 catalysts that were physically mixed with a commercial ferrierite(FER)zeolite.The catalysts were characterized by N2 physisorption,X-ray diffraction(XRD),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),temperature programmed desorption of CO2(CO2-TPD),temperature programmed desorption of NH3(NH3-TPD),and temperature programmed H2 reduction(H2-TPR).The results demonstrate that smaller CuO and Cu crystallite sizes resulting in better dispersion of the active phases,higher surface area,and lower reduction temperature are all favorable for catalytic activity.The reaction mechanism has been studied using in situ diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform spectroscopy(DRIFTS).Methanol appears to be formed via the bidentate-formate(b-HCOO)species undergoing stepwise hydrogenation,while DME formation occurs from methanol dehydration and reaction of two surface methoxy groups.Qingtao Sheng Run-Ping Ye Weibo Gong Xiufeng Shi Bang Xu Morris Argyle Hertanto Adidharma Maohong Fan 2020Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,6:2

15Phylogenetic investigation on five genera of tintinnid ciliates (Ciliophora, Choreotrichia), based on the small subunit ribosomal RNA gene sequences显示文摘The phylogenetic relationship among tintinnid ciliates are relatively poorly studied based on molecular data. In the present work, seven species belonging to five genera of the order Tintinnida (Amphorellopsis acuta, Codonellopsis nipponica, Favella taraikaensis, Steno-semella nivalis, Tintinnopsis beroidea, Tintinnopsis cylindrica and Tintinnopsis lohmanni) were analyzed using the information on their small subunit ribosomal RNA gene sequences. Phylogenetic trees were constructed using Bayesian inference (BI), maximum parsimony (MP), neighbor-joining (NJ), and least-squares (LS) methods. Generally, similar topologies were revealed with high or moderate supports, in which the main results show that (1) all tintinnids analyzed belong to a single assemblage; (2) congeners in Tintinnopsis do not cluster together, which indicates that the lorica-based definition for this genus is not consistent with the SSU rRNA phylogeny; (3) A. acuta groups with Tintinnidium mucicola but not with Eutintinnus, indicating that the traditional family Tintinnidae might be a paraphyletic group; (4) Stenosemella and Codonellopsis are clearly most related and possibly even merged into one genus regarding their similar morphology and molecular analyses, and possession of a hyaline collar is the only characteristic of the genus.Zicong Li Zhenzhen Yi Jinpeng Yang Jun Gong John C. 17Nuclear events during conjugation in the poorly studied model ciliate Paramecium jenningsi显示文摘Ciliated protists are highly differentiated unicellular eukaryotes that possess special sexual processes(conjugation and autogamy)that rely on their unique nuclear dimorphism,i.e.,the presence of both a germline micronucleus(MIC)and a somatic macronucleus(MAC)in a single cell.The sexual processes show a high diversity in different ciliates.To better understand the differentiation and evolution of sexual processes in closely related species,we investigated the nuclear events during conjugation in Paramecium jenningsi strain GZ,a poorly studied close relative of the well-known P.aurelia complex.The main results include:(1)the conjugation process takes about 48 h,including three prezygotic divisions(meiosis I,II,and mitosis)and three postzygotic divisions;(2)the MICs are dominated by the“parachute”phase at the prophase of meiosis I;(3)after meiosis II,a variable number of nuclei undergo the third prezygotic division,and the two products near the paroral cone become the genetically identical migratory and stationary pronuclei;(4)the synkaryon divides three times to form the MIC and the MAC anlagen,but only one nuclear product of the first postzygotic division completes the next two divisions;and(5)an extra cell division is required to complete the last step of conjugation,during which two MIC anlagen undergo mitotic division while two MAC anlagen are distributed between the daughter cells without division.The comparison of the nuclear events during conjugation in representatives of the class Oligohymenophorea reveals that usually there are three prezygotic divisions and a variable number of postzygotic divisions.However,the number of selected and differentiated nuclei after each division differs among species.This study provided a new model ciliate for further investigations of nuclear selection and differentiation as well as nuclear morphology during meiosis.Xue Zhang Ruitao Gong Yaohan Jiang Xiaoteng Lu Chenyin Wu Lihan Wang Hongwei Ma Zhengxiang Zhang Weibo Song Khaled A.S.Al-Rasheid Adriana Vallesi Feng Gao 2023Water Biology and Security2023,2,4:0
