2Tip-leakage flow loss reduction in a two-stage turbine using axisymmetric-casing contouring显示文摘In order to reduce the losses caused by tip-leakage flow, axisymmetric contouring is applied to the casing of a two-stage unshrouded high pressure turbine(HPT) of aero-engine in this paper. This investigation focuses on the effects of contoured axisymmetric-casing on the blade tipleakage flow. While the size of tip clearance remains the same as the original design, the rotor casing and the blade tip are obtained with the same contoured arc shape. Numerical calculation results show that a promotion of 0.14% to the overall efficiency is achieved. Detailed analysis indicates that it reduces the entropy generation rate caused by the complex vortex structure in the rotor tip region, especially in the tip-leakage vortex. The low velocity region in the leading edge(LE) part of the tip gap is enlarged and the pressure side/tip junction separation bubble extends much further away from the leading edge in the clearance. So the blocking effect of pressure side/tip junction separation bubble on clearance flow prevents more flow on the tip pressure side from leaking to the suction side, which results in weaker leakage vortex and less associated losses.Wei Zuojun Qiao Weiyang Shi Peijie Chen Pingping Zhao Lei 2014Chinese Journal of Aeronautics2014,27,5:9
3Scientific objectives of the Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor(HUBS) mission显示文摘The Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor(HUBS) is a proposed space-based X-ray telescope for detecting X-ray emissions from the hot gas content in our universe. With its unprecedented spatially-resolved high-resolution spectroscopy and large field of view,the HUBS mission will be uniquely qualified to measure the physical and chemical properties of the hot gas in the interstellar medium, the circumgalactic medium, the intergalactic medium, and the intracluster medium. These measurements will be valuable for two key scientific goals of HUBS, namely to unravel the AGN and stellar feedback physics that governs the formation and evolution of galaxies, and to probe the baryon budget and multi-phase states from galactic to cosmological scales. In addition to these two goals, the HUBS mission will also help us solve some problems in the fields of galaxy clusters, AGNs, difuse X-ray backgrounds, supernova remnants, and compact objects. 4Survival after radical cystectomy for bladder cancer:Multicenter comparison between minimally invasive and open approaches显示文摘Objective:To investigate oncological outcomes in patients with bladder cancer who underwent minimally invasive radical cystectomy(MIRC)or open radical cystectomy(ORC).Methods:We identified patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy(RC)in 13 centers of the Chinese Bladder Cancer Consortium(CBCC).Perioperative outcomes were compared between MIRC and ORC.The influence of surgical approaches on overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS)in the entire study group and subgroups classified according to pathologic stage or lymph node(LN)status was assessed with the log-rank test.Multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were used to evaluate the association among OS,CSS and risk factors of interest.Results:Of 2098 patients who underwent RC,1243 patients underwent MIRC(1087 laparoscopic RC and 156 robotic-assisted RC,respectively),while 855 patients underwent ORC.No significant differences were noted in positive surgical margin rate and 90-day postoperative mortality rate.MIRC was associated with less estimated blood loss,more LN yield,higher rate of neobladder diversion,longer operative time,and longer length of hospital stay.There was no significant difference in OS and CSS according to surgical approaches(pZ0.653,and 0.816,respectively).Subgroup analysis revealed that OS and CSS were not significantly different regardless of the status of extravesical involvement or LN involvement.Multivariable Cox regression analyses showed that the surgical approach was not a significant predictor of OS and CSS.Conclusions:Our study showed that MIRC was comparable to conventional ORC in terms of OS and CSS.Weibin Xie Junming Bi Qiang Wei Ping Han Dongkui Song Lei Shi Dingwei Ye Yijun Shen Xin Gou Weiyang He Shaogang Wang Zheng Liu Jinhai Fan Kaijie Wu Zhiwen Chen Xiaozhou Zhou Chuize Kong Yang Liu Chunxiao Liu Abai Xu Baiye Jin Guanghou Fu Wei Xue Haige Chen Tiejun Pan Zhong Tu Tianxin Lin Jian Huang 2020Asian Journal of Urology2020,7,3:1
5Single-cell RNA Sequencing Reveals Sexually Dimorphic Transcriptome and Type 2 Diabetes Genes in Mouse Islet β Cells显示文摘Type 2 diabetes(T2D)is characterized by the malfunction of pancreaticβcells.Susceptibility and pathogenesis of T2D can be affected by multiple factors,including sex differences.However,the mechanisms underlying sex differences in T2D susceptibility and pathogenesis remain unclear.Using single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq),we demonstrate the presence of sexually dimorphic transcriptomes in mouseβcells.Using a high-fat diet-induced T2D mouse model,we identified sex-dependent T2D altered genes,suggesting sex-based differences in the pathological mechanisms of T2D.Furthermore,based on islet transplantation experiments,we found that compared to mice with sexmatched islet transplants,sex-mismatched islet transplants in healthy mice showed down-regulation of genes involved in the longevity regulating pathway ofβcells.Moreover,the diabetic mice with sex-mismatched islet transplants showed impaired glucose tolerance.These data suggest sexual dimorphism in T2D pathogenicity,indicating that sex should be considered when treating T2D.We hope that our findings could provide new insights for the development of precision medicine in T2D.Gang Liu Yana Li Tengjiao Zhang Mushan Li Sheng Li Qing He Shuxin Liu Minglu Xu Tinghui Xiao Zhen Shao Weiyang Shi Weida Li 2021Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2021,19,3:1
6Taurolidine improved protection against highly pathogenetic avian influenza H5N1 virus lethal-infection in mouse model by regulating the NF-κB signaling pathway显示文摘Taurolidine(TRD),a derivative of taurine,has anti-bacterial and anti-tumor effects by chemically reacting with cell-walls,endotoxins and exotoxins to inhibit the adhesion of microorganisms.However,its application in antiviral therapy is seldom reported.Here,we reported that TRD significantly inhibited the replication of influenza virus H5N1 in MDCK cells with the half-maximal inhibitory concentration(EC_(50))of 34.45μg/mL.Furthermore,the drug inhibited the amplification of the cytokine storm effect and improved the survival rate of mice lethal challenged with H5N1(protection rate was 86%).Moreover,TRD attenuated virus-induced lung damage and reduced virus titers in mice lungs.Administration of TRD reduced the number of neutrophils and increased the number of lymphocytes in the blood of H5N1 virus-infected mice.Importantly,the drug regulated the NF-κB signaling pathway by inhibiting the separation of NF-κB and IκBa,thereby reducing the expression of inflammatory factors.In conclusion,our findings suggested that TRD could act as a potential anti-influenza drug candidate in further clinical studies.Chaoxiang Lv Yuanguo Li Tiecheng Wang Qiqi Zhang Jing Qi Mingwei Sima Entao Li Tian Qin Zhuangzhuang Shi Fangxu Li Xuefeng Wang Weiyang Sun Na Feng Songtao Yang Xianzhu Xia Ningyi Jin Yifa Zhou Yuwei Gao 2023Virologica Sinica2023,38,1:0
7Multimodal Fusion of Brain Imaging Data: Methods and Applications显示文摘Neuroimaging data typically include multiple modalities,such as structural or functional magnetic resonance imaging,dif-fusion tensor imaging,and positron emission tomography,which provide multiple views for observing and analyzing the brain.To lever-age the complementary representations of different modalities,multimodal fusion is consequently needed to dig out both inter-modality and intra-modality information.With the exploited rich information,it is becoming popular to combine multiple modality data to ex-plore the structural and functional characteristics of the brain in both health and disease status.In this paper,we first review a wide spectrum of advanced machine learning methodologies for fusing multimodal brain imaging data,broadly categorized into unsupervised and supervised learning strategies.Followed by this,some representative applications are discussed,including how they help to under-stand the brain arealization,how they improve the prediction of behavioral phenotypes and brain aging,and how they accelerate the biomarker exploration of brain diseases.Finally,we discuss some exciting emerging trends and important future directions.Collectively,we intend to offer a comprehensive overview of brain imaging fusion methods and their successful applications,along with the chal-lenges imposed by multi-scale and big data,which arises an urgent demand on developing new models and platforms.Na Luo Weiyang Shi Zhengyi Yang Ming Song Tianzi Jiang 2024Machine Intelligence Research2024,21,1:0
8Transmembrane kinase 1-mediated auxin signal regulates membrane-associated clathrin in Arabidopsis roots显示文摘Clathrin-mediated endocytosis(CME)is the major endocytic pathway in eukaryotic cells that directly regulates abundance of plasma membrane proteins.Clathrin triskelia are composed of clathrin heavy chains(CHCs)and light chains(CLCs),and the phytohormone auxin differentially regulates membraneassociated CLCs and CHCs,modulating the endocytosis and therefore the distribution of auxin efflux transporter PIN-FORMED2(PIN2).However,the molecular mechanisms by which auxin regulates clathrin are still poorly understood.Transmembrane kinase(TMKs)family proteins are considered to contribute to auxin signaling and plant development;it remains unclear whether they are involved in PIN transport by CME.We assessed TMKs involvement in the regulation of clathrin by auxin,using genetic,pharmacological,and cytological approaches including live-cell imaging and immunofluorescence.In tmk1 mutant seedlings,auxin failed to rapidly regulate abundance of both CHC and CLC and to inhibit PIN2 endocytosis,leading to an impaired asymmetric distribution of PIN2 and therefore auxin.Furthermore,TMK3 and TMK4 were shown not to be involved in regulation of clathrin by auxin.In summary,TMK1 is essential for auxin-regulated clathrin recruitment and CME.TMK1therefore plays a critical role in the establishment of an asymmetric distribution of PIN2 and an auxin gradient during root gravitropism.Yutong Wang Xu Yan Mei Xu Weiyang Qi Chunjie Shi Xiaohong Li Jiaqi Ma Dan Tian Jianxin Shou Haijun Wu Jianwei Pan Bo Li Chao Wang 2023Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,1:0
