Immune dysfunction leads to mortality and organ injury in patients with COVID-19 in China:insights from ERS-COVID-19 study显示文摘Dear Editor,A series of novel coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)since the end of 2019 is ongoing and triggering a global public health crisis. The estimated case fatality rate is approximately 3.4%in China. However, some patients experience dyspnea within 1 week and develop rapidly to organ injury and even death within 2 weeks after dyspnea.1 In addition, early organ injury could lead to higher risks of mortality. Thus, early identification of patients at risk of organ injury and death is crucial, which saves the patients from classified and invasive treatment, improving clinical outcome and prognosis. The human immune system plays significant roles in the resistance of foreign pathogens and the progress of pneumonia.Recent studies have mentioned that T cells were decreased in COVID-19 patients, excessive activated immune response was caused by pathogenic Th1 cells, and inflammatory CD14+CD16+monocytes may connect to pulmonary immunopathology, leading to deleterious clinical manifestations and even acute mortality after SARS-CoV-2 infections.2 SARS-CoV-2 might damage lymphocytes, especially T lymphocytes, and the immune system was impaired during the period of disease to cause tissue injury. | Dongze Li You Chen Hong Liu Yu Jia Fanghui Li Wei Wang Jiang Wu Zhi Wan Yu Cao Rui Zeng | 2020 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1: | 5
Preparation, characterization, antimicrobial and cytotoxicity studies of copper/zincloaded montmorillonite显示文摘Background: A series of modified montmorillonites(Mt) including zinc-loaded Mt(Zn-Mt), copper-loaded Mt(Cu-Mt), copper/zinc-loaded Mt with different Cu/Zn ratio(Cu/Zn-Mt-1, Cu/Zn-Mt-2, Cu/Zn-Mt-3) were prepared by an ion-exchange reaction, and characterized using X-ray diffraction(XRD), fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). The specific surface areas, antimicrobial activity and cytotoxicity of the modified Mt were investigated. Results: In the modified Mt, hydrated Cu ions and Zn ions were exchanged in the interlayer space of Mt and the particles were irregular shapes. The results showed that Cu/Zn-Mt enhanced antibacterial and antifungal activity compared with Zn-Mt and Cu-Mt possibly due to the synergistic effect between Cu and Zn. Among the Cu/Zn-Mt with different Cu/Zn raitos, Cu/Zn-Mt with a Cu/Zn ratio of 0.98 or 0.51 showed higher antimicrobial activity against gram-negative bacteria(Escherichia coli), gram-positive bacteria(Staphylococcus aureus), fungi(Candida albicans). Moreover, the antimicrobial activity of Cu/Zn-Mt was correlated with its specific surface area. Cytotoxicity studies on IPEC-J2 cell showed a slight cytotoxicity of Cu/Zn-Mt.Conclusions: The current data provide clear evidence that in terms of its antimicrobial activity and relatively low toxicity, the Cu/Zn-Mt holds great promise for applications in animal husbandry. | Lefei Jiao Fanghui Lin Shuting Cao Chunchun Wang Huan Wu Miaoan Shu Caihong Hu | 2017 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2017,8,3: | 4

Velocity structure in the South Yellow Sea basin based on first-arrival tomography of wide-angle seismic data and its geological implications显示文摘The South Yellow Sea basin is filled with Mesozoic-Cenozoic continental sediments overlying pre-Palaeozoic and Mesozoic-Palaeozoic marine sediments.Conventional multi-channel seismic data cannot describe the velocity structure of the marine residual basin in detail, leading to the lack of a deeper understanding of the distribution and lithology owing to strong energy shielding on the top interface of marine sediments. In this study,we present seismic tomography data from ocean bottom seismographs that describe the NEE-trending velocity distributions of the basin. The results indicate that strong velocity variations occur at shallow crustal levels.Horizontal velocity bodies show good correlation with surface geological features, and multi-layer features exist in the vertical velocity framework(depth:0–10 km).The analyses of the velocity model, gravity data, magnetic data, multichannel seismic profiles, and drilling data showed that high-velocity anomalies(>6.5 km/s)of small(thickness:1–2 km)and large(thickness:>5 km)scales were caused by igneous complexes in the multi-layer structure, which were active during the Palaeogene.Possible locations of good Mesozoic and Palaeozoic marine strata are limited to the Central Uplift and the western part of the Northern Depression along the wide-angle ocean bottom seismograph array.Following the Indosinian movement,a strong compression existed in the Northern Depression during the extensional phase that caused the formation of folds in the middle of the survey line. This study is useful for reconstructing the regional tectonic evolution and delineating the distribution of the marine residual basin in the South Yellow Sea basin. | Weina Zhao Zhiqiang Wu Fanghui Hou Xunhua Zhang Tianyao Hao Hanjoon Kim Yanpeng Zheng Shanshan Chen Huigang Wang | 2023 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2023,42,2: | 1

FEM simulation and experimental verification of roll forming and springback process under complex contact conditions显示文摘The application of advanced high strength steel(AHSS) has an important significance in the development of the lightweight of automobile, but the parts made of AHSS usually have defects, such as fracture and large amount of springback, etc. In this paper,a model of multi-pass roll forming and springback process of AHSS is established with finite element software ABAQUS.Then a roll forming experiment is performed, and simulation and experimental results have been compared and analyzed. The model is established under complex contact conditions, including self-contact condition. The results shows that during the process of sheet bending, large Mises stresses appear at bending corners. The smaller the bending radius is,the larger the Mises stress and strain are.Thickness of sheet metal changes differendy if the bending radius is different. When the bending radius exceeds a certain limit, the change tendency of the sheet thickness turns from increase to decrease. | 阎昱 Wu Qingyuan Ai Zhengqing Jia Fanghui | 2015 | High Technology Letters2015,21,4: | 1
Flashover Characteristics of Dry Band-water band on Hydrophobic Surfaces显示文摘Due to their outstanding anti-flashover characteristics, composite insulators have been extensively applied in power systems.A lot of research has investigated flashover characteristics of hydrophobic specimens with artificial water droplets. However, the phenomenon is not consistent with that of the contaminated composite insulators. On the test specimens covered with water droplets, there is no obvious leakage current before the flashover and no obvious relationship between flashover voltage and the conductivity of water droplets. On the contaminated composite insulator surface, there are short continuous arcs on the insulators before critical flashover, making insulators look like a luminous lantern.Considering that under these two conditions, the proportion of water along the insulation distance is different, the flashover characteristic of“dry band-water band”on a hydrophobicity surface is analyzed in the present study. The influence of the water band parameter(including length, width, and conductivity)as well as the length of dry band is studied. On this basis, the arc generation and development process of the surface covered with“dry band-water band”is analyzed. The research results improve the understanding of the flashover process on contaminated composite insulators. | Xiaohan Wu Fanghui Yin Bin Cao Daiming Yang Shichao Shao Liming Wang | 2024 | CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2024,10,1: | 0
Effect and Risk Assessment of Animal Manure Pollution on Huaihe River Basin, China显示文摘Currently the deteriorated water quality for Huaihe River Basin(HRB) in China was still serious because of the negative influence multiple pollution sources including animal manure. However, little attention was paid to the potential risk of animal manure for farmland and water quality of HRB. This study was quantified and forecasted animal manure risk and its spatiotemporal variations in HRB from 2008 to 2018, through pollution discharge coefficient method and pollution load calculation, combined with kriging interpolation method of ArcGIS technology, based on statistics principle. All the data were originated from livestock and poultry breeding in HRB from 2008 to 2018. The future risk of farmland and water environment in HRB was further forecasted. The results indicated that the livestock and poultry manure has become a key pollution source causing a negative influence on farmland and water quality owing to a large amount of animal manure production without efficient recycle utilization. The chemical oxygen demand(COD) and total nitrogen(TN) discharge of animal manure in HRB almost accounted for 17.00% and 39.00% of the whole COD and TN discharge in China. The diffusion concentration of TN and TP in those regions of Shangqiu, Zhoukou, Heze, Zhumadian, Luohe, Jining, Xuchang,Kaifeng, Taian and Zhengzhou of HRB has exceeded the threshold value 10.00 mg/L of TN and 0.08 mg/L of TP, causing water eutrophication and cancer villages. The assessment of farmland and water quality risk revealed that Zhumadian, Zhoukou, Shangqiu, Taian, Jining, Heze, Linyi and Rizhao belonged to high risk areas in HRB, which were still obtained high farmland and water quality risk index in 2030. The results provided insight into an important significance of sustainable balance of livestock and poultry development and ecosystem in HRB. | WANG Youbao PAN Fanghui CHANG Jiayue WU Rongkang TIBAMBA Matthew LU Xuecheng ZHANG Xinxi | 2021 | Chinese Geographical Science2021,31,4: | 0
Implementing the free HPV vaccination for adolescent girls aged below 14 in Shenzhen,Guangdong Province of China:experience, challenges, and lessons显示文摘Cervical cancer is a major public health concern in China, accounting for almost one-fifth of the global incidence and mortality. The recently prequalified domestic bivalent human papillomavirus(HPV)vaccine offers a practical and feasible preventive measure. In response to the global call for action, the National Health Commission issued an Action Plan to eliminate cervical cancer by 2030,with promotion of the HPV vaccination for school-aged girls as a critical step.Despite this, implementation of the vaccination has been patchy, with very low coverage among eligible girls. To address this, from December 2021 to December 2022,a demonstration project was launched in Shenzhen,Guangdong Province,to promote the inclusion of HPV vaccine in local immunisation programme and to address existing barriers to implementation.Using multiple sources of data, this article presents a case study of the demonstration project, analysing its impact on rolling out HPV vaccination among eligible girls and identifying any challenges encountered during implementation. The demonstration project has shown promising results in increasing the HPV vaccination rate, promoting public awareness and acceptance of the domestic HPV vaccine, and establishing a model for quickly scaling up the vaccination at the municipal level. The success of the project can be attributed to several factors, including strong governmental commitment, sufficient funding,multi-sectoral collaboration, ensured vaccine accessibility and affordability, improved vaccination services, and effective health education and communication strategies.Lessons learned from Shenzhen can provide valuable insights for future advocacy and implementation of the vaccination in other areas of China, but challenges must be addressed to achieve universal coverage. These include addressing vaccine hesitancy, expanding the programme to cover a broader age range, and ensuring consistent quality of vaccination services in primary care facilities.Overcoming these challenges will require innovative strategies,public-private partnerships, and sustained funding and resources.Future research should focus on evaluating the long-term effectiveness of the vaccination programme and identifying contextual factors that may impact its implementation in different settings.Overall, the effective control of cervical cancer in China will rely on the“political will”to ensure the incorporation of preventive interventions into policies and universal programme coverage. | Dadong Wu Peiyi Liu Danhong Song He Wang Siqi Chen Wanyi Tang Xuelian Zhao Fanghui Zhao Yueyun Wang | 2023 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2023,12,5: | 0
Integrating pore architectures to evaluate vascularization efficacy in silicate-based bioceramic scaffolds显示文摘Pore architecture in bioceramic scaffolds plays an important role in facilitating vascularization efficiency during bone repair or orbital reconstruction. Many investigations have explored this relationship but lack integrating pore architectural features in a scaffold, hindering optimization of architectural parameters(geometry, size and curvature)to improve vascularization and consequently clinical outcomes. To address this challenge,we have developed an integrating design strategy to fabricate different pore architectures(cube, gyroid and hexagon)with different pore dimensions(-350,500 and 650 lm)in the silicate-based bioceramic scaffolds via digital light processing technique. The sintered scaffolds maintained high-fidelity pore architectures similar to the printing model. The hexagon-and gyroid-pore scaffolds exhibited the highest and lowest compressive strength(from 15 to 55MPa),respectively,but the cube-pore scaffolds showed appreciable elastic modulus. Moreover, the gyroid-pore architecture contributed on a faster ion dissolution and mass decay in vitro. It is interesting that bothμCT and histological analyses indicate vascularization efficiency was challenged even in the 650-μm pore region of hexagon-pore scaffolds within 2weeks in rabbit models, but the gyroid-pore constructs indicated appreciable blood vessel networks even in the 350-μm pore region at 2weeks and high-density blood vessels were uniformly invaded in the 500-and 650-μm pore at 4weeks.Angiogenesis was facilitated in the cube-pore scaffolds in comparison with the hexagon-pore ones within 4weeks.These studies demonstrate that the continuous pore wall curvature feature in gyroid-pore architecture is an important implication for biodegradation, vascular cell migration and vessel ingrowth in porous bioceramic scaffolds. | Fanghui Wu Jun Yang Xiurong Ke Shuo Ye Zhaonan Bao Xianyan Yang Cheng Zhong Miaoda Shen Sanzhong Xu Lei Zhang Zhongru Gou Guojing Yang | 2022 | Regenerative Biomaterials2022,9,1: | 0
