| 2 | Function and regulation of cholecystokinin-octapeptide, β-endorphin and gastrin in anorexic infantile rats treated with ErBao Granules显示文摘AIM To study the role of cholecystokinin octapeptide ( CCK-8), β-endorphin ( β-EP), and gastrin in an anorexic infantile rat model and no subsequent regulation of nose peptides by the Yunpi complex prescription ErBao Granule.METHODS We fed infantile rats with special prepared forage. A liquid extract of ErBao Granule was administered to the rats daily for 3weeks, CCK-8, β-EP, and gastrin concentrations in hypothalamus, gastric antrum, and plasma of the rats were measured by radioimmunoassay,and were compared with controls.RESULTS Treatment of rats with ErBao Granule inhibited CCK-8 secretion and increased β-EP and gastrin secretion. CCK-8 concentration in hypothalamus and plasma of model control group increased significantly and correlated negatively with food intake of models.respectively. β-EP concentration in gastric antrum and plasma of model control group decreased significantly and showed a positive correlation with food intake of models,respectively. Hypothalamus concentration of β-EP was similar in models and controls. Gastrin concentration in gastric antrum of models was lower than in the blank control group, and correlated positively to food intake of models.Finally, CCK-8 concentrations in plasma of rats showed a positive correlation with plasma β-EP(r- 0.68, P<0.05).CONCLUSION The increased plasma and hypothalamus concentration of CCK-8,decreased gastric antrum and plasma level of β-EP. and decreased gastric antrum concentration of gastrin are associated significantly with the anorexia of infantile anorexic rat models produced by special forage. | 5 | Night Sleep Duration and Risk of Cognitive Impairment in a Chinese Population: A Cross-sectional Study显示文摘Objective Although sleep is one of the most important health-related behavioral factors,the association between night sleep duration and cognitive impairment has not been fully understood.A cross-sectional study was conducted with a random sample of 2,514 participants(≥40 years of age;46.6% women) in China to examine the association between night sleep duration and cognitive impairment.Methods Night sleep duration was categorized as ≤ 5,6,7,8,or ≥9 h per night.Cognitive function was measured using the Mini-Mental State Examination.A multivariate regression analysis was used to analyze the association of night sleep duration with cognitive impairment.A total of 122 participants were diagnosed with cognitive impairment.Results A U-shaped association between night sleep duration and cognitive impairment was found.The odds ratios(95% confidence intervals) of cognitive impairment(with 7 h of daily sleep being considered as the reference) for individuals reporting ≤ 5,6,8,and ≥9 h were 2.14(1.20-3.83),1.13(0.67-1.89),1.51(0.82-2.79),and 5.37(1.62-17.80),respectively(P≤0.01).Conclusion Short or long night sleep duration was an important sleep-related factor independently associated with cognitive impairment and may be a useful marker for increased risk of cognitive impairment. | SONG Qiao Feng LIU Xiao Xue HU Wan Ning HAN Xiao Chen ZHOU Wen Hua LU Ai Dong WANG Xi Zhu WU Shou Ling | 2017 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2017，30，10： | 5 |

| 7 | Efficacy of radiotherapy for the treatment of cystic echinococcosis in naturally infected sheep显示文摘Background:Radiotherapy is commonly used to treat cancers.To date,there has been no study focusing on the effects of radiotherapy on hydatid disease in large animals.In this study,we aim to investigate the efficiency and safety of radiotherapy for treating hydatid disease caused by Echinococcus granulosus in naturally infected sheep.Methods:Ultrasound was used to screen naturally infected sheep in an echinococcosis endemic area in Xinjiang,China.A computer tomography(CT)scan confirmed the presence of hydatid cysts.Twenty sheep naturally infected with E.granulosus in the liver and/or lungs were randomly assigned into four groups receiving no irradiation,or X-ray irradiation of low(30 Gy),medium(45 Gy),and high dose(60 Gy),respectively.After three months of radiotherapy,a CT scan was performed to measure the changes in the cysts.The hepatic parasite cysts and host tissues were collected for histology and gene expression analysis.Results:In the animals subject to irradiation,no significant differences were observed in their appetite,daily activities,and weight before and after radiotherapy.Severe calcification was noticed in the cysts subject to a high dose of radiation compared with the groups subject to low and medium doses.Hematoxylin and eosin staining showed that irradiation contributed to the damage of the cyst structure and nucleus in the germinal layers.Quantitative PCR demonstrated that expression of TPX and HSP70 significantly decreased in a dose-dependent manner(P<0.05).The expression of the EPC1 decreased in the medium-and high-dose groups compared with the low-dose group(P<0.05).Meanwhile,the expression of radiation-related apoptosis genes caspase-3 and Gadd45 decreased with an increase in the irradiation dose.Conclusions:Radiotherapy is an option with satisfactory efficiency and safety for treating cystic echinococcosis in sheep with partial response or stable disease at month 3.In future,inhibition of cystic activity using radiotherapy may serve as a new regimen for treating hydatid disease. | Rui Mao Wen-Bao Zhang Hong-Zhi Qi Tao Jiang Ge Wu Peng-Fei Lu Abudula Ainiwaer Ge Shang Lin Xu Jie Hao Xi Shou Hai-Tao Li Jun Li Song-An Zhang Yong-Xing Bao Hao Wen | 2017 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2017，6，1： | 4 |

| 19 | A brain structural connectivity biomarker for autism spectrum disorder diagnosis in early childhood显示文摘Background:Autism spectrum disorder(ASD)is associated with altered brain development,but it is unclear which specific structural changes may serve as potential diagnostic markers,particularly in young children at the age when symptoms become fully estab-lished.Furthermore,such brain markers need to meet the requirements of precision medicine and be accurate in aiding diagnosis at an individual rather than only a group level.Objective:This study aimed to identify and model brain-wide differences in structural connectivity using diffusion tensor imaging(DTI)in young ASD and typically developing(TD)children.Methods:A discovery cohort including 93 ASD and 26 TD children and two independent validation cohorts including 12 ASD and 9 TD children from three different cities in China were included.Brain-wide(294 regions)structural connectivity was measured using DTI(fractional anisotropy,FA)together with symptom severity and cognitive development.A connection matrix was constructed for each child for comparisons between ASD and TD groups.Pattern classification was performed on the discovery dataset and the resulting model was tested on the two independent validation datasets.Results:Thirty-three structural connections showed increased FA in ASD compared to TD children and associated with both autistic symptom severity and impaired general cognitive development.The majority(29/33)involved the frontal lobe and comprised five different networks with functional relevance to default mode,motor control,social recognition,language and reward.Overall,clas-sification achieved very high accuracy of 96.77%in the discovery dataset,and 91.67%and 88.89%in the two independent validation datasets.Conclusions:Identified structural connectivity differences primarily involving the frontal cortex can very accurately distinguish novel individual ASD from TD children and may therefore represent a robust early brain biomarker which can address the requirements of precision medicine. | Xi Jiang Xiao-Jing Shou Zhongbo Zhao Yuzhong Chen Fan-Chao Meng Jiao Le Tian-Jia Song Xin-Jie Xu Weitong Guo Xiaoyan Ke Xiao-E Cai Weihua Zhao Juan Kou Ran Huo Ying Liu Hui-Shu Yuan Yan Xing Ji-Sheng Han Song-Ping Han Yun Li Hua Lai Lan Zhang Mei-Xiang Jia Jing Liu Xuan Liu Keith M.Kendrick Rong Zhang | 2023 | Psychoradiology2023，3，1： | 0 |
