3Arginine, N-carbamylglutamate,and glutamine exert protective effects against oxidative stress in rat intestine显示文摘The objective of the current study is to evaluate the effects of dietary supplementation with arginine(ARG), N-carbamylglutamate(NCG), and glutamine(GLN) on rat intestinal morphology and antioxidant status under oxidative stress. Rats were fed for 30 d with one of the following iso-nitrogenous diets:basal diet(BD), BD plus 1% ARG, BD plus 0.1% NCG, and BD plus 1% GLN. On day 28, half of the rats fed BD were intraperitoneally injected with 12 mg/kg body weight of diquat(DT; i.e., the DT group) and the other half was intraperitoneally injected with sterile solution(i,e., the control group). The other diet groups were intraperitoneally injected with 12 mg/kg body weight of DT(i,e., DT + 1% GLN [DT + GLN],DT + 1% ARG [DT + ARG], and DT + 0.1% NCG [DT + NCG]). Rat jejunum samples obtained at 48 h after DT injection were analyzed. Results showed that DT significantly decreased catalase(CAT) activity and glutathione(GSH) content by 58.25% and 56.57%, respectively, and elevated malondialdehyde(MDA)content and crypt depth(CD) by 19.39% and 22.13%, respectively, in the jejunum(P < 0.05, relative to the control group). Compared with the DT group, the DT + GLN group exhibited significantly improved villus height(VH), villus width(VW), villus surface area(VSA), CD and total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC) activity(P < 0.05); the DT + ARG group exhibited significantly increased the ratio of VH to CD(H:D) and TAOC activity(P < 0.05); the DT + GLN, DT + ARG and DT + NCG groups exhibited significantly enhanced CAT activity and GSH content as well as decreased MDA content(P < 0.05). Moreover, VH, VW, VSA, CD and GSH content in the DT + GLN group were higher whereas MDA content was lower compared with the corresponding values observed in both the DT + ARG and the DT + NCG groups(P < 0.05). The H:D ratio in the DT + ARG group significantly increased compared with that in the DT + NCG and DT + GLN groups(P < 0.05). 5Micro-Channel Heat Sink:A Review显示文摘The method to cool a high heat flux device is an important research direction for the heat exchanger design.Micro-channels are an eflfective heat exchange structure both for single-phase and two-phase flow.In this paper,the heat transfer correlations of single-phase,two-phase and nanofluid in a micro-channel are discussed and analyzed.The correlations of pressure drop for single-phase and two-phase fluids are also presented.Excluding the different working fluids used in the micro-channel,the diameter and aspect ratio,shape and structure,surface roughness,internal and external factor and layout of micro-channel pipe are considered to analyze their influence on the heat transfer performance and pressure drop.Micro-channel technology applications include industry,air-conditioning,solar energy systems,heat pipe technology and computer data center cooling.Compared to the conventional heat exchangers used in these fields,a micro-channel heat sink showed a much better heat transfer coefficient and low volume,indicating that it is a good choice and has huge potential for cooling application.Finally,existing problems and future scopes are described,and drawing up design standard,experimental and simulated methods for evaluating its performance are the urgent actions which need to be carried out.This review paper serves as guidance for researchers to design and predict the performance of micro-channel heat sinks.ZHOU Jinzhi CAO Xiaoling ZHANG Nan YUAN Yanping ZHAO Xudong HARDY David 2020Journal of Thermal Science2020,29,6:9

8New insights into the role of spermine in enhancing the antioxidant capacity of rat spleen and liver under oxidative stress显示文摘Oxidative stress can damage cellular antioxidant defense and reduce livestock production efficiency.Spermine is a ubiquitous cellular component that plays important roles in stabilizing nucleic acids,modulating cell growth and differentiation, and regulating ion channel activities. Spermine has the potential to alleviate the effects of oxidative stress. However, to date no information is available about the effect of spermine administration on antioxidant property of the liver and spleen in any mammalian in vivo system. This study aims to investigate the protective effect of spermine on rat liver and spleen under oxidative stress. Rats received intragastric administration of either 0.4 μmol/g body weight of spermine or saline once a day for 3 days. The rats in each treatment were then injected with either diquat or sterile saline at 12 mg/kg body weight. Liver and spleen samples were collected 48 h after the last spermine ingestion.Results showed that regardless of diquat treatment, spermine administration significantly reduced the malondialdehyde(MDA) content by 23.78% in the liver and by 5.75% in the spleen, respectively(P < 0.05).Spermine administration also enhanced the catalase(CAT) activity, anti-hydroxyl radical(AHR) capacity and glutathione(GSH) content by 38.68%, 15.53% and 1.32% in the spleen, respectively(P< 0.05). There were interactions between spermine administration and diquat injection about anti-superoxide anion(ASA),AHR capacity, CAT activity, GSH content, and total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC) in the liver and about ASA capacity and T-AOC in the spleen of weaned rats(P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, spermine administration significantly increased the AHR capacity, CAT activity, GSH content, and T-AOC by 40.23%,31.15%, 30.25%, 35.37% in the liver, respectively(P < 0.05) and increased the T-AOC by 8% in the spleen of weaned rats(P < 0.05). 9A green route to synthesize low-cost and high-performance hard carbon as promising sodium-ion battery anodes from sorghum stalk waste显示文摘Sodium-ion batteries(SIBs) have been considered to be potential candidates for next-generation low-cost energy storage systems due to the low-cost and abundance of Na resources. However, it is a big challenge to find suitable anode materials with low-cost and good performance for the application of SIBs. Hard carbon could be a promising anode material due to high capacity and expectable low-cost if originating from biomass. Herein, we report a hard carbon material derived from abundant and abandoned biomass of sorghum stalk through a simple carbonization method. The effects of carbonization temperature on microstructure and electrochemical performance are investigated. The hard carbon carbonized at 1300 ℃ delivers the best rate capability(172 mAh g^(-1) at 200 mA g^(-1)) and good cycling performance(245 mAh g^(-1) after 50 cycles at 20 mA g^(-1),96% capacity retention). 11Flue Gas Water Recovery by Indirect Cooling Technology for Large-Scale Applications: A Review显示文摘With social development and economic enhancement,energy is facing significant worldwide demand,and fossil fuels are the prime energy sources for various energy systems over past decades.Furthermore,among fuel-consumed applications,power plants are the primary source of energy consumption.There is a lot of waste heat and steam accompanied by the latent heat produced in the exhaust flue gas.Therefore,the latent heat recovery from the flue gas plays an important role in increasing the efficiency of the system and saving water.To recover the heat and mass in power plants,three primary methods are proposed to condense the vapor based on previous studies:(1)flue gas condensation technology,(2)liquid desiccant-based dehydration(LDD)technology and(3)membrane technology.This paper mainly reviews and summaries the indirect cooling technology in flue gas condensation technology.The numerical simulation and theory of flue gas condensation are introduced.Different heat exchanger types and conducted experiments are also summarized.The performance of the indirect cooling technology is affected not only by its own configuration and design but also by the flue gas inlet temperature,velocity,water vapor mass fraction,etc.The major concerns and outlook of practical applications for further study are attributed to the heat exchanger size and cost,acid corrosion,ash accumulation in flue gas,etc.ZHONG Wei JI Wenhui CAO Xiaoling YUAN Yanping 2020Journal of Thermal Science2020,29,5:3
12An Aerothermal Study of Influence of Blockage Ratio on a Supersonic Tube Train System显示文摘Evacuated tube transportation is an important development direction for the high-speed transportation technology of the future.However,a train running at supersonic speed in a closed tube can create an unstable aerothermal phenomenon,causing the temperature to rise sharply inside the tube and endangering the safe operation of trains and equipment.The blockage ratio is one of the key factors affecting the aerodynamic characteristics in the tube.In this paper,a 2 D axisymmetric model and Delayed Detached Eddy Simulation(DDES)based on the Shear Stress Transport(SST)k-ωturbulence model are used to study the aerothermal environment in the tube.The calculation method used in this paper was verified by a wind tunnel experiment.The aerothermal phenomenon and distribution of the flow field in the tube with different blockage ratios were compared and analysed.The results show that the aerothermal environment is significantly affected by the blockage ratio.A choking limit formed in the flow field will aggravate the aerodynamic phenomenon as the blockage ratio increases,which further deteriorates the aerothermal environment of the tube.Moreover,the existence of the choking limit,shock wave,and Mach disk make the flow field in the tube more complicated.SUI Yang NIU Jiqiang YUAN Yanping YU Qiujun CAO Xiaoling WU Dan YANG Xiaofeng 2022Journal of Thermal Science2022,31,2:2

16Unveiling the importance of reactant mass transfer in environmental catalysis:Taking catalytic chlorobenzene oxidation as an example显示文摘To date,investigations onto the regulation of reactants mass transfer has been paid much less attention in environmental catalysis.Herein,we demonstrated that by rationally designing the adsorption sites of multi-reactants,the pollutant destruction efficiency,product selectivity,reaction stability and secondary pollution have been all affected in the catalytic chlorobenzene oxidation(CBCO).Experimental results revealed that the co-adsorption of chlo robenzene(CB)and gaseous O_(2)at the oxygen vacancies of CeO_(2)led to remarkably high CO_(2)generation,owning to their short mass transfer distance on the catalyst surface,while their separated adsorptions at Bronsted HZSM-5 and CeO_(2)vacancies resulted in a much lower CO_(2)generation,and produced significant polychlorinated byproducts in the off-gas.Howeve r,this separated adsorption model yielded superior long-term stability for the CeO_(2)/HZSM-5 catalyst,owning to the protection of CeO_(2)oxygen vacancies from Cl poisoning by the preferential adsorption of CB on the Bronsted acidic sites.This work unveils that design of environmental catalysts needs to consider both of the catalyst intrinsic property and reactant mass transfer;investigations of the latter could pave a new way for the development of highly efficient catalysts towards environmental pollution control.Kexin Cao Xiaoxia Dai Zhongbiao Wu Xiaole Weng 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,3:1
