1Survival of people living with HIV after treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine in Henan province of China: a retrospective cohortstudy显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To provide survival estimates of people living with human immunodeficiency virus(PLHIV) after treatment with Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) in rural China, to identify the prognostic factors at enrollment, and to explore the effectiveness of TCM intreating PLHIV.METHODS: PLHIV who enrolled in national TCM HIV treatment trial program in October 2004 were analyzed in this study and followed up to October 2010. Survival time was estimated by the Kaplan-Meier curve and hazard ratios, and identifying prognostic factors were computed through Cox proportional hazard models.RESULTS:A total of 1666 PLHIV were included with 102 591 person-months of follow-up. Overall, 312(18.7%) patients died. The total mortality rate over the study period was 3.6 per 100 person-years,which was lower than the worldwide rate. The cumulative survival rate was 95.9% at 1 year[95% confidence interval(CI)(94.8-96.8)] and 80.4% at 6years [95% CI(78.4-82.3)]. Elevated death risks emerged among males, older individuals, and thosewithlowerCD4+T-cellcounts.CONCLUSION: TCM could increase survival and lengthen the life span of PLHIV in Henan province of China, as shown by our retrospective cohort study. Factors such as sex, age, education, and CD4+ T-cell counts correlated to survival. 4Mobility in China,2020:a tale of four phases显示文摘2020 was an unprecedented year;with rapid and drastic changes in human mobility due to the COVID-19 pandemic.To understand the variation in commuting patterns among the Chinese population across stable and unstable periods,we used nationwide mobility data from 318 million mobile phone users in China to examine the extreme fluctuations of population movements in 2020,ranging from the Lunar New Year travel season(chunyun),to the exceptional calm of COVID-19 lockdown,and then to the recovery period.We observed that cross-city movements;which increased substantially in chunyun and then dropped sharply during the lockdown,are primarily dependent on travel distance and the socio-economic development of cities.Following the Lunar New Year holiday,national mobility remained low until mid-February,and COVID-19 interventions delayed more than 72.89 million people returning to large cities.Mobility network analysis revealed clusters of highly connected cities,conforming to the social-economic division of urban agglomerations in China.While the mass migration back to large cities was delayed,smaller cities connected more densely to form new clusters.During the recovery period after travel restrictions were lifted,the netflows of over 55%city pairs reversed in direction compared to before the lockdown.These findings offer the most comprehensive picture of Chinese mobility at fine resolution across various scenarios in China and are of critical importance for decision making regarding future public-health-emergency response,transportation planning and regional economic development,among others.Suoyi Tan Shengjie Lai Fan Fang Ziqiang Cao Bin Sai Bing Song Bitao Dai Shuhui Guo Chuchu Liu Mengsi Cai Tong Wang Mengning Wang Jiaxu Li Saran Chen Shuo Qin Jessica R.Floyd Zhidong Cao Jing Tan Xin Sun Tao Zhou Wei Zhang Andrew J.Tatem Petter Holme Xiaohong Chen Xin Lu 2021National Science Review2021,8,11:3
5High-sensitivity, high-spatial-resolution distributed strain sensing based on a poly(methyl methacrylate) chirped fiber Bragg grating显示文摘In this study,a high-sensitivity,high-spatial-resolution distributed strain-sensing approach based on a poly(methyl methacrylate)chirped fiber Bragg grating(CFBG)is proposed and experimentally demonstrated.Linearly chirped FBGs in a polymer optical fiber provide an alternative to the silica fiber owing to the lower Young’s modulus,which can yield a higher stress sensitivity under the same external force.According to the spatial wavelength-encoded characteristic of the CFBG,a fully distributed strain measurement can be achieved by optical frequency-domain reflectometry.Through time-/space-resolved short-time Fourier transform,the applied force can be located by the beat frequency originated from the space-induced time delay and measured by the differential frequency offset originated from the strain-induced dispersion time delay.In a proof-of-concept experiment,a high spatial resolution of 1 mm over a gauge length of 40 mm and a strain resolution of 0.491 Hz/μεwere achieved.Chengang Lyu Ziqi Liu Ziqiang Huo Chunfeng Ge Xin Cheng Haw-Yaw Tam 2020Photonics Research2020,8,7:2

10Ru single atoms induce surface-mediated discharge in Na-O_(2)batteries显示文摘Sodium(Na)O_(2)batteries have high energy density and low cost.However,high polarization,complex discharge products,and low Coulombic efficiency(CE)lead to poor cyclability.Here,we proposed an atomically dispersed Ru catalyst on nitrogen-doped graphene for Na-O_(2)batteries.The catalysts enable the discharge to proceed via a surface-mediated route,which leads to uniform deposition of Na_(2-x)O_(2)and low polarization during recharge.The first-principle calculation revealed that Ru-N_(4)complex in the catalyst has strong chemical adsorption to intermediate superoxides,facilitating uniform deposition and enhancing rapid kinetics.In contrast,Ru nanoparticles,despite the catalytic activity,induce bulk deposition via a solution-mediated route because the exposed graphene surface shows weak interaction to superoxides,thereby lowering CEs and cyclability.In brief,the atomically-dispersed Ru catalyst endows Na-O_(2)batteries with excellent electrochemical properties via a surface-mediated discharge.Xin Jin Yangyang Li Shuo Zhang Jiangwei Zhang Zihan Shen Chenlin Zhong Ziqiang Cai Chaoquan Hu Huigang Zhang 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,1:0
11Alterations of gene expression profiles induced by sulfur dioxide in rat lungs显示文摘Sulfur dioxide(SO_(2))is a ubiquitous air pollutant,presents in low concentrations in urban air and in higher concentrations in working environment.Few data are avail-able on the effects of being exposed to this pollutant on the molecular mechanism,although some biochemical changes in lipid metabolism,intermediary metabolism and oxidative stress have been detected.The present investigation aimed at analyzing the gene expression profiles of the lungs of Wistar rats short-term(20 ppm,6 h/day,for seven days)and long-term(5 ppm,1 h/day,for 30 days)exposed to SO_(2)by Affymetrix GeneChip(RAE230A)analysis.It was found that 31 genes,containing 18 known genes and 13 novel genes,were up-regulated,and 31 genes,containing 20 known genes and 11 novel genes,were down-regulated in rats short-term exposed to SO_(2)compared with control rats.While there were 176 genes,containing 82 known genes and 94 novel genes,were up-regulated,and 85 genes,containing 46 known genes and 39 novel genes,were down-regulated in rats long-term exposed to SO_(2)compared with control rats.It is suggested that:(1)SO_(2)exerts its effects by different mechanisms in vivo at high-dose short-term inhalation and at low-dose long-term inhalation;(2)a notable feature of the gene expression profile was the decreased expression of genes related to oxidative phosphorylation in lungs of rats short-term exposed to SO_(2),which shows high-dose short-term exposed to SO_(2)may cause the deterioration of mitochondrial functions;(3)discriminating genes in lungs of rats long-term exposed to SO_(2)included those involved in fatty acid metabolism,immune,inflammatory,oxidative stress,oncogene,tumor suppresser and extracellular matrix.The mechanism of low-dose long-term exposed to SO_(2)is more complex.MENG Ziqiang QIN Guohua BAI Juli ZHANG Jianbiao ZHANG Xin YANG Zhenghua 2007Frontiers in Biology2007,2,4:0

13Mobile Phone-Based Population Flow Data for the COVID-19 Outbreak in China' Mainland显示文摘Background.Human migration is one of the driving forces for amplifying localized infectious disease outbreaks into widespread epidemics.During the outbreak of COVID-19 in China,the travels of the population from Wuhan have furthered the spread of the virus as the period coincided with the world’s largest population movement to celebrate the Chinese New Year.Methods.We have collected and made public an anonymous and aggregated mobility dataset extracted from mobile phones at the national level,describing the outflows of population travel from Wuhan.We evaluated the correlation between population movements and the virus spread by the dates when the number of diagnosed cases was documented.Results.From Jan 1 to Jan 22 of 2020,a total of 20.2 million movements of at-risk population occurred from Wuhan to other regions in China.A large proportion of these movements occurred within Hubei province(84.5%),and a substantial increase of travels was observed even before the beginning of the official Chinese Spring Festival Travel.The outbound flows from Wuhan before the lockdown were found strongly correlated with the number of diagnosed cases in the destination cities(log-transformed).Conclusions.The regions with the highest volume of receiving at-risk populations were identified.The movements of the at-risk population were strongly associated with the virus spread.These results together with province-by-province reports have been provided to governmental authorities to aid policy decisions at both the state and provincial levels.We believe that the effort in making this data available is extremely important for COVID-19 modelling and prediction.Xin Lu Jing Tan Ziqiang Cao Yiquan Xiong Shuo Qin Tong Wang Chunrong Liu Shiyao Huang Wei Zhang Laurie B.Marczak Simon I.Hay Lehana Thabane Gordon H.Guyatt Xin Sun 2021Health Data Science2021,,1:0
14The complexity of the Latin Square task and its influence on children’s performance显示文摘Prior studies analyzed the complexity of the Latin Square task solely based on the relational complexity theory, which, with the relational complexity defined by the complexity of relations processed in paral-lel, could not fully predict children’s performance on the task. So we developed an alternative method to analyze the task complexity by the relational complexity and the necessary processing steps to find a solution. The present study tested the validity of the new method applying to the Latin Square task and investigated how the task complexity influenced children’s performance on the task. 195 pupils from Grade 2―5 were recruited to perform computerized Latin Square task of 15 items. The results showed that: (i) The children’s performance on the Latin Square task fitted perfectly to the predictions by the Rasch measurement model. The relational complexity and the necessary processing steps both validly predicted the children’s reaction time for correct answers and the item difficulty levels assessed by the Rasch analysis. This validated our method for task complexity analysis. (ii) Generally, all the 2nd―5th graders performed well on the items whose relational complexity was binary or ternary. 15Co-doping strategy enhanced the ionic conductivity and excellent lithium stability of garnet-type Li_(7)La_(3)Zr_(2)O_(12)electrolyte in all solidstate lithium batteries显示文摘Garnet-type Li_(7)La_(3)Zr_(2)O_(12)(LLZO)is one of the most promising solid-state electrolytes(SSEs).However,the application of LLZO is limited by structural instability,low ionic conductivity,and poor lithium stability.To obtain a garnet-type solid electrolyte with a stable structure and high ionic conductivity,a series of TaeCe co-doping cubic Li_(6.4)La_(3)Zr_(1.4-x)Ta_(0.6)Ce_(x)O_(12)(LLZTCO,x=,0.02,0.04,0.06,0.08,0.10,0.20,0.30)electrolytes were successfully synthesized through conventional solid-phase method.The Ta^(5+)doping can introduce more lithium vacancies and effectively maintain the stability of the cubic phase.The Ce^(4+)with a larger ionic radius is introduced into the lattice to widen the Lit migration bottleneck size,which significantly increased the ionic conductivity to 1.05×10^(-3)S/cm.It also shows excellent stability to lithium metal by the optimization of Lit transport channel.Li||LLZTCO||Li symmetric cells can cycle stably for more than 6000 h at a current density of 0.1 mA/cm^(2)without any surface modifications.The commercialization potential of LLZTCO samples in all solid-state lithium batteries(ASSLBs)is confirmed by the prepared LiFePO_(4)||LLZTCO||Li cells with a capacity retention rate of 98%after 100 cycles at 0.5C.This new co-doping method presents a practical solution for the realization of high-performance ASSLBs.Ziqiang Xu Xin Hu Bowen Fu Kashif Khan Jintian Wu Teng Li Haiping Zhou Zixuan Fang Mengqiang Wu 2023Journal of Materiomics2023,9,4:0
