1Changes in China’s lakes: climate and human impacts显示文摘Lakes have played a critical role in providing water and ecosystem services for people and other organisms in China for millennia.However,accelerating climate change and economic boom have resulted in unprecedented changes in these valuable lakes.Using Landsat images covering the entity of the country,we explored the changes in China’s lakes and the associated driving forces over the last 30 years(i.e.mid-1980 s to 2015).We discovered that China’s lakes have changed with divergent regional trends:in the sparsely populated Tibetan Plateau,lakes are abundant and the lake area has increased dramatically from 38596 to46831 km^2(i.e.increased by 8235 km^2,or 21.3%),whereas,in the densely populated northern and eastern regions,lakes are relatively scarce and the lake area has decreased from 36659 to 33657 km^2(i.e.decreased by 3002 km^2,or 8.2%).In particular,severe lake decreases occurred in the Mongolia-Xinjiang Plateau and the Eastern Plain(-2151 km^2).Statistical analyses indicated that climate was the most important factor controlling lake changes in the Tibetan Plateau,the Yun-Gui Plateau and the Northeast Plain.However,the strength of climatic control on lake changes was low in the Eastern Plain and the Mongolia-Xinjiang Plateau,where human activities,e.g.impoldering,irrigation and mining,have caused serious impacts on lakes.Further lake changes will exacerbate regional imbalances between lake resources and population distribution,and thus may increase the risk of water-resource crises in China.Shengli Tao Jingyun Fang Suhui Ma Qiong Cai Xinyu Xiong Di Tian Xia Zhao Leqi Fang Heng Zhang Jiangling Zhu Shuqing Zhao 2020National Science Review2020,7,1:14
2Low-temperature selective catalytic reduction of NO_(x) with NH_(3) over zeolite catalysts:A review显示文摘The selective catalytic reduction(SCR)of NO_(x) by NH3 is one of the most mature technologies for NO_(x) treatment.Catalysts are the main factors affecting denitrification efficiency.Zeolites as low-tempe rature NH3-SCR catalysts have been extensively studied in the past few years.In this work,the mechanism of zeolites for NH3-SCR reaction was reviewed and the denitrification performances of zeolite catalysts prepared by different methods were compared.The effects of sulfur and water poisoning on zeolite catalysts in NH3-SCR reaction were also analyzed.Several ways to address the problems in lowtemperature NH3-SCR reaction were discussed.Hopefully,this review could provide a fundamental understanding of SCR reaction on zeolite catalysts and pave the way toward similar studies to realize its commercial applications.Yijuan Pu Xinyu Xie Wenju Jiang Lin Yang Xia Jiang Lu Yao 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,10:9
3Relationship between metabolic enzyme activities and bioaccumulation kinetics of PAHs in zebrafish(Danio rerio)显示文摘Many studies have investigated bioaccumulation and metabolism of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)in aquatic organisms.However,lack of studies investigated both processes simultaneously,and the interaction between these two processes is less understood so far.This study investigated the bioaccumulation kinetics of PAHs and metabolic enzyme activities,including total cytochrome P450(CYPs)and total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD),in zebrafish.Mature zebrafish were exposed to the mixture of phenanthrene and anthracene under constant concentration maintained by passive dosing systems for 16 days.The results showed that PAH concentrations in zebrafish experienced a peak value after exposure for 1.5 days,and then decreased gradually.The bioaccumulation equilibrium was achieved after exposure for 12 days.Both of the uptake rate constants(k_u)and the elimination rate constants(k_e)decreased after the peak value.The variation of PAH concentrations and metabolic enzyme activities in zebrafish had an interactive relationship.The activities of CYPs and T-SOD increased initially with the increase of PAH concentrations,but decreased to the lowest state when PAH concentrations reached the peak value.When the bioaccumulation equilibrium of PAHs was achieved,CYPs and T-SOD activities also reached the steady state.In general,CYPs and T-SOD activities were activated after exposure to PAHs.The decrease of PAH concentrations in zebrafish after the peak value may be attributed to the great drop of k_uand the variation of CYPs activities.This study suggests that an interactive relationship exists between bioaccumulation kinetics of PAHs and metabolic enzyme activities in aquatic organisms.Haotian Wang Yayuan Li Xinghui Xia Xinyue Xiong 2018Journal of Environmental Sciences2018,30,3:4
4Structural basis for bivalent binding and inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 infection by human potent neutralizing antibodies显示文摘Neutralizing monoclonal antibodies(nAbs)to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)represent promising candidates for clinical intervention against coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).We isolated a large number of nAbs from SARS-CoV-2-infected individuals capable of disrupting proper interaction between the receptor binding domain(RBD)of the viral spike(S)protein and the receptor angiotensin converting enzyme 2(ACE2).However,the structural basis for their potent neutralizing activity remains unclear.Here,we report cryo-EM structures of the ten most potent nAbs in their native full-length IgG-form or in both IgG-form and Fab-form bound to the trimeric S protein of SARS-CoV-2.The bivalent binding of the full-length IgG is found to associate with more RBDs in the“up”conformation than the monovalent binding of Fab,perhaps contributing to the enhanced neutralizing activity of IgG and triggering more shedding of the S1 subunit from the S protein.Comparison of a large number of nAbs identified common and unique structural features associated with their potent neutralizing activities.This work provides a structural basis for further understanding the mechanism of nAbs,especially through revealing the bivalent binding and its correlation with more potent neutralization and the shedding of S1 subunit.Renhong Yan Ruoke Wang Bin Ju Jinfang Yu Yuanyuan Zhang Nan Liu Jia Wang Qi Zhang Peng Chen Bing Zhou Yaning Li Yaping Shen Shuyuan Zhang Long Tian Yingying Guo Lu Xia Xinyue Zhong Lin Cheng Xiangyang Ge Juanjuan Zhao Hong-Wei Wang Xinquan Wang Zheng Zhang Linqi Zhang Qiang Zhou 2021Cell Research2021,31,5:4
5An initial discussion on major controlling factors on formation of coal-formed large-medium sas fields显示文摘The so-called 'large-medium gas field' means a gas field with proven reserves equal to or larger than 100×108 m3. Up to 1997, 23 coal-formed great-medium fields are discovered in China, excluding two in Taiwan Province. Their proven reserves take 50.9% in total natural gas reserves. Therefore, the coal-formed great-medium gas field plays a decisive role in natural gas reserves and the study of their controlling factors is very important both in theory and in practice. 6Association of serum lipids and severity of epithelial ovarian cancer:an observational cohort study of 349 Chinese patients显示文摘While obesity and fat intake have been associated with the risk and prognosis of epithelial ovarian cancer, the association between the lipid levels and epithelial ovarian cancer phenotype remains controversial. We conducted a retrospective study of 349 epithelial ovarian cancer patients who received treatment at Jiangsu Cancer Hospital, China between 2011 and 2017. We analyzed age at diagnosis, blood pressure, plasma glucose content, body mass index(BMI), lipid levels and clinical parameters. Severity of epithelial ovarian cancer was classified according to the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO) grading system. Univariate analysis of the clinical factors according to the severity of epithelial ovarian cancer was followed by logistic regression analysis to identify clinical factors significantly associated with epithelial ovarian cancer severity. Univariate analysis indicated that age,BMI, triglyceride(TG), and high density lipoproteins(HDL) differed significantly among different stages of epithelial ovarian cancer(P<0.05). In the logistic regression model, elevated TG(OR: 1.883; 95% CI= 1.207-2.937), and low HDL(OR: 0.497; 95% CI = 0.298-0.829) levels were significantly associated with the high severity epithelial ovarian cancer. Our data indicate that high TG and low HDL levels correlate with a high severity of epithelial ovarian cancer. 7Abnormal overpressure distribution and natural gas accumulation in foreland basins, Western China显示文摘Abnormal overpressure occurs in the forelandbasins of Kuqa, South Junggar and West Sichuan in China.The pressure coefficients are high. Overpressure exists inwide areas and various strata. The layers of overpressurehave a very close relationship with lithology, and the area ofoverpressure is controlled by the piedmont depression. Themechanisms of overpressure formation in the Kuqa andSouth Junggar Depression include disequilibrium compac-tion and tectonic compression; the importance of these twofactors varies in different basins and in different stages of thesame basin. Different models of gas accumulation are estab-lished to explain the relationship between overpressure dis-tribution and gas pool formation, and the influence of over-pressure on the gas pools. 9Predicting the grades of Astragali radix using mass spectrometrybased metabolomics and machine learning显示文摘Astragali radix(AR,the dried root of Astragalus)is a popular herbal remedy in both China and the United States.The commercially available AR is commonly classified into premium graded(PG)and ungraded(UG)ones only according to the appearance.To uncover novel sensitive and specific markers for AR grading,we took the integrated mass spectrometry-based untargeted and targeted metabolomics approaches to characterize chemical features of PG and UG samples in a discovery set(n=16 batches).A series of five differential compounds were screened out by univariate statistical analysis,including arginine,calycosin,ononin,formononetin,and astragalosideⅣ,most of which were observed to be accumulated in PG samples except for astragalosideⅣ.Then,we performed machine learning on the quantification data of five compounds and constructed a logistic regression prediction model.Finally,the external validation in an independent validation set of AR(n=20 batches)verified that the five compounds,as well as the model,had strong capability to distinguish the two grades of AR,with the prediction accuracy>90%.Our findings present a panel of meaningful candidate markers that would significantly catalyze the innovation in AR grading.Xinyue Yu Jingxue Nai Huimin Guo Xuping Yang Xiaoying Deng Xia Yuan Yunfei Hua Yuan Tian Fengguo Xu Zunjian Zhang Yin Huang 2021Journal of Pharmaceutical Analysis2021,11,5:2
10Interaction of fluid dynamic factors in the migration and accumulation of natural gas显示文摘The migration of fluid petroleum gas, described as fluid potential, depends only on gravity, fluid pressure controlled by depression and capillary force during tectoni-cally stable period; but on tectonic stress during the tectoni-cally active period with severe compression. 11Structural basis for the different states of the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 in complex with ACE2显示文摘Dear Editor,Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)has become a severe threat to global health.1 The spike(S)protein on the surface of SARS-CoV-2 exploits angiotensin-converting enzyme 2(ACE2)as cellular receptor and mediates the fusion of the viral and the host cell membrane during infection.1,2 The activation of the S protein requires the receptor-binding domain(RBD)binding to the peptidase domain(PD)of ACE2 and the cleavage by host proteases into the N-terminal S1 subunit and the C-terminal S2 subunit.2,3,4 An additional furin cleavage site“RRAR”present in the S1/S2 cleavage region of SARS-CoV-2,which is absent in SARS-CoV that shares about 80%sequence identity with SARS-CoV-2 and caused an epidemic in 2002–2003,might help accelerate the activation of the S protein.S1 consists of the N-terminal domain(NTD),the RBD,subdomain 1 and 2(SD1 and SD2).The RBD adopts two distinct conformations:“up”and“down”.Only the“up”RBD exposes the receptor-binding site.S2,containing the hydrophobic fusion peptide,is responsible for the viral and cell membrane fusion.The molecular mechanism underlying the activation of the S protein of SARS-CoV-2 represents a critical clue for therapeutic development.Here we report the cryo-electron microscopy(cryo-EM)structures of trimeric extracellular domain of the S protein(hereinafter referred to as S)at multiple states and conformations,including the all RBD-locked,activated,S1/S2 trypsin-cleaved,PD of ACE2-bound,and the full-length ACE2-bound states.PD binds to the trimeric S protein with consistent interface,inducing conformational change at adjacent region.The trypsin-digested S protein tends to accommodate more PD molecules.Furthermore,the structure of the S–ACE2–B0AT1 ternary complex indicates that one ACE2 dimer binds two trimeric S proteins simultaneously.These results provide clues for the mechanism of the activation of the S protein of SARS-CoV-2.Renhong Yan Yuanyuan Zhang Yaning Li Fangfei Ye Yingying Guo Lu Xia Xinyue Zhong Ximin Chi Qiang Zhou 2021Cell Research2021,31,6:2
12Tea stain-inspired solar energy harvesting polyphenolic nanocoatings with tunable absorption spectra显示文摘Discovery and development of new sustainable photothermal materials with tunable light absorption spectra play a key role in solar energy harvesting and conversion.One possible solution to this quest is to check nature as a source of matters or inspiration.Inspired by the formation of tea stains,a unique class of dark stain materials generated by the interfacial reaction between tea polyphenols and metal substance,we reported the facile preparation and screening of a series of photothermal nanocoating layers via the metal ion(i.e.C u(ll)>Fe(lll),Ni(ll),Zn(ll))promoted in situ polymerization of typical phenolic moieties of tea polyphenols(i.e.,catechol and pyrogallol).It was found that those resulting metal-polyphenolic nanocoatings showed various promising features,such as high blackness and strong adhesion,excellent and tunable light absorption properties,good hydrophilicity and long-term stability.We further fabricated the photothermal composite devices by/n s/'fty formation of meta卜polyphenolic nanocoatings on pristine silks for solar desalination,which demonstrated promising durable evaporation behaviors with excellent evaporation rates and steam generation efficiencies.We believe that this work could provide more opportunities towards new types of bio-inspired and sustainable photothermal nanomaterials for solar energy harvesting applications such as water desalination.Lu Yang Yuan Zou Wei Xia Haotian Li Xinyu He Yi Zhou Xianhu Liu Chaoqun Zhang Yiwen Li 2021Nano Research2021,14,4:2

16Self-cleaning Anti-fouling TiO2/Poly(aryl ether sulfone) Composite Ultrafiltration Membranes显示文摘A series of novel TiO2/poly(aryl ether sulfone) ultrafiltration membranes with anti-fouling and self-cleaning properties was designed and prepared. First, anti-photocatalytic degraded fluorine contained polv(aryl ether sulfone) matrix(PAES-F) was synthesized. Then the composite membranes were prepared via TiO2 nanopartides and PAES-F polymer matrix by solution blending and non-solvent induced phase inversion methods. Further, separation efficiency, fouling behavior and self-cleaning property of the composite ultrafiltration(UF) membranes were investigated by dead-end filtration experiments using a polyacn lamide solution. The composite UF membranes exhibited outstanding self-cleaning efficiency and anti-photocatalytic degraded property after exposure to simulated sunliglit irradiation.The water flux recovery ratios(FRR)of the optimal composite UF membranes could reach 74.24%, which was attributable to photocatalytic degradation of the organic contaminant by TiO2. And the retention rates of the composite UF membranes could maintain over 97%, which indicated the excellent photocatalytic degradation resistance of the fluorine contained PAES-F matrix.
