1Third generation of vortex identification methods:Omega and Liutex/Rortex based systems显示文摘A vortex is intuitively recognized as the rotational/swirling motion of fluids,but a rigorous and universally-accepted definition is still not available.Vorticity tube/filament has been regarded equivalent to a vortex since Helmholtz proposed the concepts of vorticity tube/filament in 1858 and the vorticity-based methods can be categorized as the first generation of vortex identification methods.During the last three decades,a lot of vortex identification methods,including 0,A,and Aci criteria,have been proposed to overcome the problems associated with the vorticity-based methods.Most of these criteria are based on the Cauchy-Stokes decomposition and/or eigenvalues of the velocity gradient tensor and can be considered as the second generation of vortex identification methods.Starting from 2014,the Vortex and Turbulence Research Team at the University of Texas at Arlington(the UTA team)focus on the development of a new generation of vortex identification methods.The first fruit of this effort,a new Omega(/2)vortex identification method,which defined a vortex as a connected region where the vorticity overtakes the deformation,was published in 2016.In 2017 and 2018,a Liutex(previously called Rortex)vector was proposed to provide a mathematical definition of the local rigid rotation part of the fluid motion,including both the local rotational axis and the rotational strength.Liutex/Rortex is a new physical quantity with scalar,vector and tensor forms exactly representing the local rigid rotation of fluids.Meanwhile,a decomposition of the vorticity to a rotational part namely Liutex/Rortex and an anti-symmetric shear part(RS decomposition)was introduced in 2018,and a universal decomposition of the velocity gradient tensor to a rotation part(7?)and a non-rotation part(NR、was also given in 2018 as a counterpart of the traditional Cauchy-Stokes decomposition.Later in early 2019,a Liutex/Rortex based Omega method called Omega-Liutex,which combines the respective advantages of both Liutex/Rortex and Omega methods,was developed.And a latest objective Omega method,which is still under development,is also briefly introduced.These advances are classified as the third generation of vortex identification methods in the current paper.To elaborate the advantages of the third-generation methods,six core issues for vortex definition and identification have been raised,including:(1)the absolute strength,(2)the relative strength,(3)the rotational axis,(4)the vortex core center location,(5)the vortex core size,(6)the vortex boundary.The new third generation of vortex identification methods can provide reasonable answers to these questions,while other vortex identification methods fail to answer all questions except for the approximation of vortex boundaries.The purpose of the current paper is to summarize the main ideas and methods of the third generation of vortex identification methods rather than to conduct a comprehensive review on the historical development of vortex identification methods.Chaoqun Liu Yi-sheng Gao Xiang-rui Dong Yi-qian Wang Jian-ming Liu Yu-ning Zhang Xiao-shu Cai Nan Gui 2019Journal of Hydrodynamics2019,31,2:82

3CNN Feature Boosted SeqSLAM for Real-Time Loop Closure Detection显示文摘This paper proposes an efficient and robust Loop closure detection(LCD) method based on Convolutional neural network(CNN) feature. The primary method is called SeqCNNSLAM, in which both the outputs of the intermediate layer of a pre-trained CNN and the outputs of traditional sequence-based matching procedure are incorporated, making it possible to handle the viewpoint and condition variance properly. An acceleration algorithm for SeqCNNSLAM is developed to reduce the search range for the current image, resulting in a new LCD method called A-SeqCNNSLAM. To improve the applicability of A-SeqCNNSLAM to new environments, O-SeqCNNSLAM is proposed for online parameters adjustment in A-SeqCNNSLAM. 4Investigation of dielectric barrier discharge plasma flow control显示文摘Effects of plasma flow control are researched on the basis of plasma exciting flow experiments and numerical simulations. Turbulent model is more effective than laminar model in plasma numerical simulation as results showed. Both plasma exciting effects of acceleration and flow separation suppression are investigated through experiments carried on the flat plate and the compressor cascades. The results demonstrate that boundary layer characteristic is modified by plasma exciting. Distributions of total pressure and velocity in the wake are improved notably for 20 m/s coming velocity and the effect of plasma can still be observed while velocity is increased to 50 m/s. 5Comparisons and analyses of vortex identification between Omega method and Q criterion显示文摘The present paper presents comparisons of the vortex identification between the Omega method and the Q criterion based on the data of a classical flow.From the comparisons of the vortex structure together with the flow statistics,some important conclusions are drawn on the validity of the two methods,as follows.The Omega method can identify various kinds of vortices with different intensities(e.g.,the strong vortex,the medium vortex and the weak vortex).For the Q criterion,due to the subjective threshold selection,only the strong vortex with weak deformations could be identified.Finally,some emerging topics related with the advanced vortex identification methods are briefly discussed.Yu-ning Zhang Xiao-yu Wang Chaoqun Liu 2019Journal of Hydrodynamics2019,31,2:8
6Global methane and nitrous oxide emissions from terrestrial ecosystems due to multiple environmental changes显示文摘Greenhouse gas(GHG)-induced climate change is among the most pressing sustainability challenges facing humanity today,posing serious risks for ecosystem health.Methane(CH_(4))and nitrous oxide(N_(2)O)are the two most important GHGs after carbon dioxide(CO_(2)),but their regional and global budgets are not well known.In this study,we applied a process-based coupled biogeochemical model to concurrently estimate the magnitude and spatial and temporal patterns of CH_(4)and N_(2)O fluxes as driven by multiple environmental changes,including climate variability,rising atmospheric CO_(2),increasing nitrogen deposition,tropospheric ozone pollution,land use change,and nitrogen fertilizer use.The estimated CH_(4)and N_(2)O emissions from global land ecosystems during 1981-2010 were 144.39±12.90 Tg C/yr(mean 62 SE;1 Tg=1012 g)and 12.52±0.74 Tg N/yr,respectively.Our simulations indicated a significant(P,0.01)annually increasing trend for CH_(4)(0.43±0.06 Tg C/yr)and N_(2)O(0.14±0.02 Tg N/yr)in the study period.CH_(4)and N_(2)O emissions increased significantly in most climatic zones and continents,especially in the tropical regions and Asia.The most rapid increase in CH_(4)emission was found in natural wetlands and rice fields due to increased rice cultivation area and climate warming.N_(2)O emission increased substantially in all the biome types and the largest increase occurred in upland crops due to increasing air temperature and nitrogen fertilizer use.Clearly,the three major GHGs(CH_(4),N_(2)O,and CO_(2))should be simultaneously considered when evaluating if a policy is effective to mitigate climate change.Hanqin Tian Guangsheng Chen Chaoqun Lu Xiaofeng Xu Wei Ren Bowen Zhang Kamaljit Banger Bo Tao Shufen Pan Mingliang Liu Chi Zhang Lori Bruhwiler Steven Wofsy 2015Ecosystem Health and Sustainability2015,1,1:7
7Ternary mesoporous cobalt-iron-nickel oxide efficiently catalyzing oxygen/hydrogen evolution reactions and overall water splitting显示文摘Among various efficient electrocatalysts for water splitting,CoFe and NiFe-based oxides/hydroxides are typically promising candidates thanks to their extraordinary activities towards oxygen evolution reaction (OER).However,the endeavor to advance their performance towards overall water splitting has been largely impeded by the limited activities for hydrogen evolution reaction (HER).Herein,we present a CoFeNi ternary metal-based oxide (CoFeNi-O) with impressive hierarchical bimodal channel nanostructures,which was synthesized via a facile one-step dealloying strategy.The oxide shows superior catalytic activities towards both HER and OER in alkaline solution due to the alloying effect and the intrinsic hierarchical porous structure.CoFeNi-O loaded on glass carbon electrodes only requires the overpotentials as low as 230 and 278 mV to achieve the OER current densities of 10 and 100 mA·cm-2,respectively.In particular,extremely low overpotentials of 200 and 57.9 mV are sufficient enough for Ni foam-supported CoFeNi-O to drive the current density of 10 mA·cm-2 towards OER and HER respectively,which is comparable with or even better than the already-developed state-of-the-art non-noble metal oxide based catalysts.Benefiting from the bifunctionalities of CoFeNi-O,an alkaline electrolyzer constructed by the Ni foam-supported CoFeNi-O electrodes as both the anode and the cathode can deliver a current density of 10 mA·cm-2 at a fairly low cell-voltage of 1.558 V.In view of its electrocatalytic merits together with the facile and cost-effective dealloying route,CoFeNi-O is envisioned as a promising catalyst for future production of sustainable energy resources.Lulu Han Limin Guo Chaoqun Dong Chi Zhang Hui Gao Jiazheng Niu Zhangquan Peng Zhonghua Zhang 2019Nano Research2019,12,9:5
8Treadmill step training promotes spinal cord neural plasticity after incomplete spinal cord injury显示文摘A large body of evidence shows that spinal circuits are significantly affected by training,and that intrinsic circuits that drive locomotor tasks are located in lumbosacral spinal segments in rats with complete spinal cord transection.However,after incomplete lesions,the effect of treadmill training has been debated,which is likely because of the difficulty of separating spontaneous stepping from specific training-induced effects.In this study,rats with moderate spinal cord contusion were subjected to either step training on a treadmill or used in the model(control) group.The treadmill training began at day 7 post-injury and lasted 20 ± 10 minutes per day,5 days per week for 10 weeks.The speed of the treadmill was set to 3 m/min and was increased on a daily basis according to the tolerance of each rat.After 3 weeks of step training,the step training group exhibited a significantly greater improvement in the Basso,Beattie and Bresnahan score than the model group.The expression of growth-associated protein-43 in the spinal cord lesion site and the number of tyrosine hydroxylase-positive ventral neurons in the second lumbar spinal segment were greater in the step training group than in the model group at 11 weeks post-injury,while the levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor protein in the spinal cord lesion site showed no difference between the two groups.These results suggest that treadmill training significantly improves functional recovery and neural plasticity after incomplete spinal cord injury.Tiansheng Sun Chaoqun Ye Jun Wu Zhicheng Zhang Yanhua Cai Feng Yue 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,27:5
9Recent active thermal management technologies for the development of energy-optimized aerospace vehicles in China显示文摘Recently, the development of modern vehicles has brought about aggressive integration and miniaturization of on-board electrical and electronic devices. It will lead to exponential growth in both the overall waste heat and heat flux to be dissipated to maintain the devices within a safe temperature range. However, both the total heat sinks aboard and the cooling capacity of currently utilized thermal control strategy are severely limited, which threatens the lifetime of the on-board equipment and even the entire flight system and shrink the vehicle’s flight time and range. Facing these thermal challenges, the USA proposed the program of 'INVENT' to maximize utilities of the available heat sinks and enhance the cooling ability of thermal control strategies. Following the efforts done by the USA researchers, scientists in China fought their ways to develop thermal management technologies for Chinese advanced energy-optimized airplanes and spacecraft. This paper elaborates the available on-board heat sinks and aerospace thermal management systems using both active and passive technologies not confined to the technology in China. Subsequently, active thermal management technologies in China including fuel thermal management system, environment control system, non-fuel liquid cooling strategy are reviewed. 10Effects of Mercuric Chloride on Antioxidant System and DNA Integrity of the Crab Charybdis japonica显示文摘Mercury (Hg) is one of the commonly encountered heavy metals, which is widespread in inshore sediments of China. In order to investigate the toxicity of Hg on marine invertebrates, we studied the effects of the divalent mercuricion (Hg2+) (at two final concentrations of 0.0025 and 0.0050 mg L-1, prepared with HgCl2) on metallothionein (MT) content, DNA integrity (DNA strand breaks) and catalase (CAT) in the gills and hepatopancreas, antioxidant enzyme activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT) and glutathione peroxidase (GPx), in the hemolymph, gills and hepatopancreas of the portunid crab Charybdis japonica for an experiment period up to 15 d. The results indicated that MT was significantly induced after 3 d, with a positive correlation with Hg2+ dose and time in the hepatopancreas and a negative correlation with Hg2+ dose and time in the gills. While CAT in the hemolymph was not detected, it increased in the hepatopancreas during the entire experiment; SOD and GPx in the three tissues were stimulated after 12 h, both attained peak value and then reduced during the experimental period. Meanwhile, DNA strand breaks were all induced significantly after 12 h. 11Characterization of mitochondrial genome of sea cucumber Stichopus horrens:A novel gene arrangement in Holothuroidea显示文摘The complete mitochondrial DNA sequence contains useful information for phylogenetic analyses of metazoa.In this study,the complete mitochondrial DNA sequence of sea cucumber Stichopus horrens (Holothuroidea:Stichopodidae:Stichopus) is presented.The complete sequence was determined using normal and long PCRs.The mitochondrial genome of Stichopus horrens is a circular molecule 16257 bps long,composed of 13 protein-coding genes,two ribosomal RNA genes and 22 transfer RNA genes.Most of these genes are coded on the heavy strand except for one protein-coding gene (nad6) and five tRNA genes (tRNA Ser(UCN),tRNA Gln,tRNA Ala,tRNA Val,tRNA Asp) which are coded on the light strand.The composition of the heavy strand is 30.8% A,23.7% C,16.2% G,and 29.3% T bases (AT skew=0.025;GC skew= 0.188).A non-coding region of 675 bp was identified as a putative control region because of its location and AT richness.The intergenic spacers range from 1 to 50 bp in size,totaling 227 bp.A total of 25 overlapping nucleotides,ranging from 1 to 10 bp in size,exist among 11 genes.All 13 protein-coding genes are initiated with an ATG.The TAA codon is used as the stop codon in all the protein coding genes except nad3 and nad4 that use TAG as their termination codon.The most frequently used amino acids are Leu (16.29%),Ser (10.34%) and Phe (8.37%).All of the tRNA genes have the potential to fold into typical cloverleaf secondary structures.We also compared the order of the genes in the mitochondrial DNA from the five holothurians that are now available and found a novel gene arrangement in the mitochondrial DNA of Stichopus horrens.FAN SiGang HU ChaoQun WEN Jing ZHANG LvPing 2011Science China(Life Sciences)2011,54,5:4
12Relation of loudness to loudness just noticeable difference of tone显示文摘A relation of loudness to loudness just noticeable difference (JND) is derived based on signal detection theory and the hypothesis that loudness is the nerve spike count in the duration of T, and the spike rate distribution of stable tonal stimulus is a stable normal stochastic process. 15Efficacy and Safety of Yanggan Jian in Hepatitis B Virusrelated Decompensated Cirrhosis:A Randomized,Doubleblind,Controlled Trial显示文摘Background and Aims:The aim was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Yanggan Jian(YGJ)in HBV-infected patients with decompensated cirrhosis.Methods:This randomized,double-blind controlled trial enrolled 160 patients with HBV-related decompensated cirrhosis who were already receiving or about to start antiviral therapy.Patients were randomly assigned to receive YGJ or placebo for 24 weeks,and were followed-up to 36 weeks.The primary outcome was the proportion of patients with a≥2 point reduction in Child-Turcotte-Pugh(CTP)score from baseline at week 24.Secondary outcomes were CTP class and score,serum liver function indices,mortality,incidence of hepatocellular carcinoma and variceal bleeding.Results:The proportion of patients with a CTP score reduction≥2 was significantly greater in the YGJ than in the placebo group(p=0.009);the percentage of patients with CTP class C was significantly less than that in the placebo group(p<0.05),and the YGJ group had a significantly greater mean change from baseline in CTP score at week 24(p=0.034).The improvement in measured values and change from baseline of prothrombin time,serum albumin,platelets,cholinesterase,international normalized ratio,and activated partial thromboplastin time were significantly better with YGJ than with placebo.Between-group differences in cumulative rates of variceal bleeding,hepatocellular carcinoma,death,or the frequency of any adverse event(AE),AEs related to treatment,or discontinuation because of AEs were not significant.Conclusions:YGJ significantly improved CTP scores and hepatic synthetic and reserve function in patients with HBV-related decompensated cirrhosis,and was safe and well tolerated.Long Chen Chaoqun Zhao Weili Yao Wei Liu Hua Zhang Yongping Mu Hong Cai Dongying Xue Chengbao Wang Wan’e Wang Yuehong Lin Jiamei Chen Ping Liu 2023Journal of Clinical and Translational Hepatology2023,11,1:3
16Insulin-like growth factor 1-induced enolase 2 deacetylation by HDAC3 promotes metastasis of pancreatic cancer显示文摘Enolase 2(ENO2)is a key glycolytic enzyme in the metabolic process of glycolysis,but its potential function in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)is unclear.In this study,we observed a significant overexpression of ENO2 in PDAC tissues,and its expression was correlated with metastasis and poor prognosis in PDAC patients.K394 was identified as a major acetylation site in ENO2 that regulates its enzymatic activity,cell metabolism and PDAC progression.Knockdown of ENO2 suppressed tumor growth and liver metastasis in PDAC.Re-expression of wild-type(WT)ENO2,but not the K394 acetylation mimetic mutant,could reverse the decreased tumor malignancy.We further characterized histone deacetylase 3(HDAC3)and P300/CBP-associated factor(PCAF)as the potential deacetylase and acetyltransferase for ENO2,respectively.HDAC3-mediated deacetylation was shown to lead to ENO2 activation and enhancement of glycolysis.Importantly,insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1)was found to decrease K394 acetylation and stimulate ENO2 activity in a dose-and time-dependent manner.The PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway facilitated the phosphorylation of HDAC3 on S424,which promoted K394 deacetylation and activation of ENO2.Linsitinib,an oral small-molecule inhibitor of IGF-1R,could inhibit IGF-1-induced ENO2 deacetylation by HDAC3 and the PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway.Furthermore,linsitinib showed a different effect on the growth and metastasis of PDAC depending on the overexpression of WT versus K394-mutant ENO2.Our results reveal a novel mechanism by which acetylation negatively regulates ENO2 activity in the metastasis of PDAC by modulating glycolysis.Blockade of IGF-1-induced ENO2 deacetylation represents a promising strategy to prevent the development of PDAC.Yan Zheng Chao Wu Jimeng Yang Yue Zhao Huliang Jia Min Xue Da Xu Feng Yang Deliang Fu Chaoqun Wang Beiyuan Hu Ze Zhang Tianen Li Shican Yan Xuan Wang Peter J.Nelson Christiane Bruns Lunxiu Qin Qiongzhu Dong 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:3
17Design,preparation and measurement of protein/CNTs hybrids:A concise review显示文摘With the development of nanobiotechnology,the carbon nanotubes(CNTs)and protein hybrids system has attracted an increasing attention for great potential application in nanotechnology,medicine,smart materials,light industry,and biology.In this review,the main preparation processes,impact factors,measurement of interactions and potential applications of CNTs/protein are presented from the aspect of experiments.Meanwhile,the proper forces detection methods are illustrated comprehensively to complete the quantitative measurement.Atomic force microscope(AFM)and surface force apparatus(SFA)experiments are described in detail to confirm the powerful function in measuring the interaction forces.In addition,the impact of different protein structures(amino acid residues,αHelix,polypeptide chain,and assembled subunits)on interactions between CNTs and protein is presented and different amino acid residues may intervene largely on interactions.Owing to the relatively little knowledge about the structure,function,and spatial orientation of proteins interaction with CNTs surface,we assume that the key problem is how to prepare CNTs and protein specimen with unique structure(such as the variation of secondary and tridimensional structure of protein or the single CNTs)to investigate the interaction forces instead of the designed,preparation,and detection methods.Xing Zhou Jian Su Chenxi Wang Changqing Fang Xinyu He Wanqing Lei Chaoqun Zhang Zhigang Huang 2020Journal of Materials Science & Technology2020,42,11:3
18Effect of solidification rate on the coarsening behavior of precipitate in rapidly solidified Al-Si alloy显示文摘The gas-atomized Al-Si alloy powder with different particle sizes was subjected to isothermal annealing for understanding the effect of solidification rate on precipitation and growth Si crystals. The results show that Si precipitates grew more quickly in the small samples with a large solidification rate due to high interfacial energy. Moreover, these Si crystals had a tendency to form a quasi-spherical shape after annealing at a low temperature or for a short holding time. Coarsening of the Si precipitates during annealing was examined using a LSW equation. Thermal stability of the rapidly solidified alloy was significantly influenced by its original microstructure as a result of high solidification rate. 19Diamond semiconductor and elastic strain engineering显示文摘Diamond,as an ultra-wide bandgap semiconductor,has become a promising candidate for next-generation microelec-tronics and optoelectronics due to its numerous advantages over conventional semiconductors,including ultrahigh carrier mo-bility and thermal conductivity,low thermal expansion coefficient,and ultra-high breakdown voltage,etc.Despite these ex-traordinary properties,diamond also faces various challenges before being practically used in the semiconductor industry.This review begins with a brief summary of previous efforts to model and construct diamond-based high-voltage switching diodes,high-power/high-frequency field-effect transistors,MEMS/NEMS,and devices operating at high temperatures.Following that,we will discuss recent developments to address scalable diamond device applications,emphasizing the synthesis of large-area,high-quality CVD diamond films and difficulties in diamond doping.Lastly,we show potential solutions to modulate diamond’s electronic properties by the“elastic strain engineering”strategy,which sheds light on the future development of diamond-based electronics,photonics and quantum systems.Chaoqun Dang Anliang Lu Heyi Wang Hongti Zhang Yang Lu 2022Journal of Semiconductors2022,43,2:2
20All-trans retinoic acid reverses malignant biological behavior of hepatocarcinoma cells by regulating miR-200 family members显示文摘As a potential chemo-therapeutic agent,all-trans retinoic acid(ATRA)can signif-icantly reverse epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT)of hepal-6 hepatocarcinoma cell line in vitro,but the mechanism is unclear.The expression profile of microRNA-200(miR-200)families is different in hepatocellular carcinoma.In this study,we found that ATRA trea tment could up-regulate the expression of miR-200a-3p,200c-3p,and 141-3p,which were involved in ATRA regulated proliferation and apoptosis of hepal-6 cell,but not colony formation.Meanwhile,miR-200a-3p,200c-3p,and 141-3p could recovery ATRA inhibited migration and invasion abilities of hepal-6 cells at various levels.miR-200a-3p and 200c-3p prevented ATRA from inducing the differentia tion and hepatic functions of hepal-6 cells.An-tagomir specific for miR-200a-3p and 200c-3p down-regulated the expression of CK18,but only miR-200a-3p anta gomir played prominent role in regula ting the expression of these mesenchymal markers,N-Cadherin,Snail and Twist.The transcriptional activities of 8 tran-scription factors were up-regulated and 35 transcription factors were down-regulated by ATRA.Compared with ATRA group,inhibition of miR-200a-3p,200c-3p,and 141-3p significantly strengthened the expression of Fra1/Jun(AP1),Ets1/PEA3,Brn3,and Zeb1/AREB6 at varying degrees.Therefore,this result suggested that ATRA may suppress EMT through down-regulating miR-200a-3p,200c-3p and 141-3p related transcription factors.miR-200 and their downstream genes might be the potentially specific targets for the treat-ment of hepatocarcinoma.Jiejie Cui Mengjia Gong Shuyu Fang Chaoqun Hu Yi Wang Jingfang Zhang Ni Tang Yun He 2021Genes & Diseases2021,8,4:2
