2The chromosome-level quality genome provides insights into the evolution of the biosynthesis genes for aroma compounds of Osmanthus fragrans显示文摘Sweet osmanthus(Osmanthus fragrans)is a very popular ornamental tree species throughout Southeast Asia and USA particularly for its extremely fragrant aroma.We constructed a chromosome-level reference genome of O.fragrans to assist in studies of the evolution,genetic diversity,and molecular mechanism of aroma development.A total of over 118 Gb of polished reads was produced from HiSeq(45.1 Gb)and PacBio Sequel(73.35 Gb),giving 100×depth coverage for long reads.The combination of Illumina-short reads,PacBio-long reads,and Hi-C data produced the final chromosome quality genome of O.fragrans with a genome size of 727 Mb and a heterozygosity of 1.45%.The genome was annotated using de novo and homology comparison and further refined with transcriptome data.The genome of O.fragrans was predicted to have 45,542 genes,of which 95.68%were functionally annotated.Genome annotation found 49.35%as the repetitive sequences,with long terminal repeats(LTR)being the richest(28.94%).Genome evolution analysis indicated the evidence of whole-genome duplication 15 million years ago,which contributed to the current content of 45,242 genes.Metabolic analysis revealed that linalool,a monoterpene is the main aroma compound.Based on the genome and transcriptome,we further demonstrated the direct connection between terpene synthases(TPSs)and the rich aromatic molecules in O.fragrans.We identified three new flower-specific TPS genes,of which the expression coincided with the production of linalool.Our results suggest that the high number of TPS genes and the flower tissue-and stage-specific TPS genes expressions might drive the strong unique aroma production of O.fragrans.Xiulian Yang Yuanzheng Yue Haiyan Li Wenjie Ding Gongwei Chen Tingting Shi Junhao Chen Min S.Park Fei Chen Lianggui Wang 2018Horticulture Research2018,5,1:16
3Nitrogen doped carbon catalyzing acetylene conversion to vinyl chloride显示文摘Commercial production of vinyl chloride from acetylene relies on the use of HgCl2as the catalyst, which has caused severe environmental problem and threats to human health because of its toxicity. Therefore, it is vital to explore alternative catalysts without mercury. We report here that N-doped carbon can catalyze directly transformation of acetylene to vinyl chloride. Particularly, N-doped high surface area mesoporous carbon exhibits a rather high activity with the acetylene conversion reaching 77% and vinyl chloride selectivity above 98% at a space velocity of 1.0 mL min-1 g-1and 200 ℃. 4Seasonal characteristics and determinants of tree growth in a Chinese subtropical forest显示文摘Aims To quantify the seasonal differences in effects of leaf habit,species identity,initial diameter,neighborhood interaction and stand environment on tree absolute diameter growth rates in a subtropical forest in China.Methods We used man-made dendrometer bands to record radial increments of all trees with diameter at breast height(DBH)≥5 cm and height≥3 m within 25 comparative study plots(30×30 m for each)of the‘Biodiversity-Ecosystem Functioning Experiment China’(BEF-China)in the Gutianshan National Nature Reserve,Zhejiang Province,China.We measured stem circumferences twice a year from 2011 to 2014 to calculate absolute diameter growth rate of a warm and wet season(WWS,April to September)and a dry and cold season(DCS,October to the next March)for each individual tree:annual growth(GR_(year)),growth during the WWS(GR_(WWS))and growth during the DCS(GR_(DCS)).We firstly tested the differences in growth rates between different seasons using paired t-tests with Bonferroni correction.Then we applied linear mixed models to explore the effects of leaf habit,species identity,initial diameter,neighborhood interaction(indicated by richness,density and total basal area of all neighboring trees within a radius of 5 m around target trees),stand age and topography(elevation,slope and aspect)on tree growth rates of the two different seasons in three deciduous and 14 evergreen species.Important Findings GR_(year),GR_(WWS)and GR_(DCS)varied between 0.04-0.50 cm year^(−1)(mean=0.21),0.03-0.46 cm season^(−1)(mean=0.18)and 0.01-0.05 cm season^(−1)(mean=0.03)across the 17 species,respectively.GR_(WWS)was significantly higher than GR_(DCS)for all species.Growth rates of faster growing species tended to have larger absolute differences between the WWS and DCS.Tree growth rates of both seasons and of the year(GR_(year),GR_(WWS)and GR_(DCS))varied significantly among leaf habit and species,and increased allometrically with initial diameter,decreased with stand age,but were not significantly related to topography and neighborhood richness or density.GR_(WWS)decreased with neighborhood total basal area,while GR_(DCS)did not.In conclusion,species might the temporally complementary,contributing to plot growth at different times of the year.Xiulian Chi Qiang Guo Jingyun Fang Bernhard Schmid Zhiyao Tang 2017Journal of Plant Ecology2017,10,1:11
5Enhanced aromatic selectivity by the sheet-like ZSM-5 in syngas conversion显示文摘Aromatics are important basic chemicals. However, direct conversion of syngas via the conventional Fischer-Tropsch synthesis produces little aromatics. We presented herein that a bifunctional composite of ZSM-5 in combination with Zn Cr Oxcatalyzes syngas conversion to aromatics. Particularly, ZSM-5 crystals with a sheet-like morphology can enhance significantly the aromatization activity. The lower length ratio of the b/a axes of the crystals, the more aromatics form but without influencing the selectivity of small molecules such as CH4 and C2–C4. 6Understanding nano effects in catalysis显示文摘Catalysis, as a key and enabling technology, plays an increasingly important role in ields ranging from energy, environment and agriculture to health care. Rational design and synthesis of highly eicient catalysts has become the ultimate goal of catalysis research. hanks to the rapid development of nanoscience and nanotechnology, and in particular a theoretical understanding of the tuning of electronic structure in nanoscale systems, this element of design is becoming possible via precise control of nanoparticles' composition, morphology, structure and electronic states. At the same time, it is important to develop tools for in situ characterization of nanocatalysts under realistic reaction conditions, and for monitoring the dynamics of catalysis with high spatial, temporal and energy resolution. In this review, we discuss coninement efects in nanocatalysis, a concept that our group has put forward and developed over several years. Taking the conined catalytic systems of carbon nanotubes, metal-conined nano-oxides and 2D layered nanocatalysts as examples, we summarize and analyze the fundamental concepts, the research methods and some of the key scientiic issues involved in nanocatalysis. 7Study on preparation and properties of CeO_2/epoxy resin composite coating on sintered NdFeB magnet显示文摘The CeO_2/epoxy resin composite coating was deposited on NdFeB substrate by cathode electrophoresis method for enhancing the anticorrosion and anti-wear performances. The morphologies and structures were characterized by a scanning electron microscope and an X-ray diffractometer. The micro hardness of the composite coating was evaluated by a microhardness tester. The corrosive behaviors of the coatings were studied by potentiodynamic polarization curve, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and neutral salt spray tests. The concentration of CeO_2 nanoparticles(NPs) in the electrophoresis bath was optimized according to the coating structures and anticorrosion performances. The results show that CeO_2 NPs can enhance the microhardness of the composite coatings. Moreover, the nanoparticles disperse uniformly in the matrix when the concentration is lower than 30 g/L. The microhardness of CeO_2/epoxy resin(30 g/L) composite coating is about 63% higher than that of the blank epoxy resin coating. And the NSS time of the CeO_2/epoxy resin(30 g/L) composite coated sample can reach 1248 h.Meanwhile, the composite coatings possess no deteriorate influence on the magnetic properties of NdFeB substrates. 9Newborn screening with targeted sequencing:a multicenter investigation and a pilot clinical study in China显示文摘Different newborn screening(NBS) programs have been practiced in many countries since the 1960 s. It is of considerable interest whether next-generation sequencing is applicable in NBS. We have developed a panel of 465 causative genes for 596 early-onset, relatively high incidence, and potentially actionable severe inherited diseases in our Newborn Screening with Targeted Sequencing(NESTS) program to screen 11,484 babies in 8 Women and Children’s hospitals nationwide in China retrospectively. The positive rate from preliminary screening of NESTS was 7.85%(902/11,484). With 45.89%(414/902) follow-up of preliminary positive cases, the overall clinically confirmative diagnosis rate of monogenic disorders was 12.07%(50/414), estimating an average of 0.95%(7.85% × 12.07%) clinical diagnosis rate, suggesting that monogenic disorders account for a considerable proportion of birth defects. The disease/gene spectrum varied in different regions of China. NESTS was implemented in a hospital by screening 3923 newborns to evaluate its clinical application. The turn-around time of a primary report, including the sequencing period of < 7 days, was within 11 days by our automatic interpretation pipeline. 10Enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction over molybdenum carbide nanoparticles confined inside single-walled carbon nanotubes显示文摘Carbon nanotubes(CNTs) have shown as unique nanoreactors to tune the catalytic activity of confined nano-catalysts. Here we report that the catalytic performance of molybdenum carbide nanoparticles(MoC_x NPs) for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER) process can be enhanced by encapsulation within single-walled carbon nanotubes(SWNTs) with a diameter of 1–2 nm. The catalyst with MoC_x NPs located on the interior surface of SWNTs(MoCx@SWNTs) exhibits a lower onset over-potential and a smaller Tafel slope than the one with MoC_x NPs attached on the exterior surface(MoCx/SWNTs). This is likely attributed to the much smaller particle size and the more reduced states of the confined MoC_x NPs, as well as the larger specific surface area of MoCx@SWNTs compared with Mo Cx/SWNTs. In addition, the electronic structure of the confined MoC_x NPs might be modified by the confinement effects of SWNTs, and hence the adsorption free energy of H atoms on the confined MoC_x NPs, which could also contribute to their higher performance. 11Research on Diageneses of Cambrian Shoal Facies Carbonate Rocks in the Xiadong Area, Hubei Province显示文摘With continuous outcrops, developed shoal facies rocks, complete types of diagenesis and changeable diagenetic environments, Cambrian strata are well developed in the Xiadong area, Yichang, Hubei Province. Under the combined influence of numerous diageneses, secondary pores can be formed, which result in better reservoir properties of the rock strata.The Cambrian rocks in this area consist of mainly carbonate rocks and secondarily detrital rocks. The carbonate rocks are dominated by grainstones including wormkalk, calcirudite-calcarenite, oolitic limestone and oncolitic limestone. Graded bedding and cross bedding are well developed in the strata, which indicates that the formation environment is of a high-energy shoal facies.In this area, there has developed a sequence of stable Cambrian platform carbonate deposition. The evolution trend is as follows: open sea shelf facies? intertidal low-energy restricted sea facies? intertidal high-energy shoal facies? coastal shoal facies? evaporite tidal-flat facies.The diageneses that the strata have experienced mainly include dolomitization, dedolomitization and dissolution, which are constructive diageneses for the formation of secondary pores, such as intercrystal pores, intercrystal solution pores, gypsum mold pores and caverns of dolomite.The diagenetic facies intervals can be divided into the unitary and the compound ones, totalling 22 in the area.In the early atmospheric fresh-water diagenetic environment and the late epidiagenetic environment, Cambrian rocks, especially dolomite of the Middle and Upper Cambrian, experienced extensive and profound fresh water corrosion, forming pore intervals with a porosity ranging from 5% to 15%.ZHANG Xiulian and JIANG Lingzhi Department of Geology, Peking University, Beijing 100871 2001Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2001,75,2:7
12Selective conversion of syngas to propane over ZnCrO_x-SSZ-39 OX-ZEO catalysts显示文摘Oxide-Zeolite(OX-ZEO) bifunctional catalyst design concept has been exemplified in several processes to direct conversion syngas to value-added chemicals and fuels such as mixed light olefins, ethylene, aromatics and gasoline.Herein we demonstrate that the product can be steered toward liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) with a selectivity up to 89% in hydrocarbons especially propane selectivity reaching 80% at CO conversion of 63% using ZnCrOx-H-SSZ-39 catalyst.Interestingly, the quantity of the acid sites of SSZ-39 does not influence obviously the hydrocarbon distribution but the strength is crucial for selective formation of propane.This finding provides an alternative route of LPG synthesis from a variety of carbon resources via syngas.Gen Li Feng Jiao Dengyun Miao Yong Wang Xiulian Pan Toshiyuki Yokoi Xiangju Meng Feng-Shou Xiao Andrei-Nicolae Parvulescu Ulrich Müller Xinhe Bao 2019Journal of Energy Chemistry2019,28,9:6
13Diagenesis and Porosity of the Cambrian-Ordovician Carbonate Shoal Fades at Yangjiaping, Shimen, Hunan显示文摘Upper Cambrian-Lower Ordovician shoal-facies carbonate rocks are well developed in the Yangjiap-ing section, Shimen, Hunan, and their types are also highly varied. There are both monomictic shoal-facies rocks (e.g. sparite oolitic limestone and sparite calcarenite) and polymictic shoal-facies rocks (e.g. grainstone, whose grain types include sand- and pebble-sized fragments, bioclasts, oolites, algal mats etc.). What is different is that the Upper Cambrian shoal-facies rocks have been mostly strongly dolomitized into shoal-facies dolomite with various residual textures. 14Asymmetric competition for light varies across functional groups显示文摘Aims Asymmetric competition for light may depress the growth rates(GRs)to different extents for different-sized tree individuals.Various responses of different functional groups to light availability result that tree individuals of different functional groups may experience different competition intensities,e.g.canopy and deciduous species grow faster and demand more light than understory and evergreen species.In this study,we estimated the effects of asymmetric competition for light using individual GRs and explored the effects of asymmetric competition on growth among different functional groups(e.g.canopy vs.understory species and deciduous vs.evergreen species).Methods We measured growth in circumference to determine the radial increments of a total of 2233 stems with diameter at breast height≥5.0 cm in a permanent plot(140×80 m^(2))located in a typical evergreen and deciduous broadleaved mixed forest on Mt Shennongjia,China.All of the measurements were carried out at~6-month intervals every April and October from 2012 to 2014,and biomass of each individual was calculated based on its diameter and species-specific allometry.We then calculated GRs of annual biomass growth(growth between October and the next October).Considering the hypothesis that asymmetric competition for light among trees of different sizes may result in a steeper allometric growth curve with increasing tree size,we further divided the sampled trees into different subsets according to their height,at intervals of 1 m,and then fitted the scaling relationship between the logarithm of the biomass GR(logGR)and the logarithm of diameter(logD)for each height class using standardized major axis regression.Finally,we used simple linear regression to test whether the scaling exponent was related to tree height.The above analyses were conducted for the annual growth of all tree species,canopy species,understory vs.treelets species and deciduous vs.evergreen species.Important findings We observed a concave curve for the relationship between logGR and logD with an increase in the scaling exponent between logGR and logD with increasing tree height.This pattern held for the annual growth of canopy species and deciduous species but not for the annual growth of understory species,treelets or evergreen species.These results suggest that asymmetric competition for light is more important in regulating the GRs of the fast-growing species,such as canopy species and deciduous species,than those of shade-tolerant species,such as understory species,treelets and evergreen species.Qiang Guo Xiulian Chi Zongqiang Xie Zhiyao Tang 2017Journal of Plant Ecology2017,10,1:5
15Emission scenario of non-CO_2 gases from energy activities and other sources in China显示文摘This paper gives a quantitative analysis on the non-CO2 emissions related to energy demand, energy activities and land use change of six scenarios with different development pattern in 2030 and 2050 based on IPAC emission model. The various mitigation technologies and policies are assessed to understand the corresponding non-CO2 emission reduction effect. The research shows that the future non-CO2 emissions of China will grow along with increasing energy demand, in which thermal power and transportation will be the major emission and mitigation sectors. During the cause of future social and economic development, the control and mitigation of non-CO2 emissions is a problem as challenging and pressing as that of CO2 emissions.This study indicates that the energy efficiency improvement, renewable energy, advanced nuclear power generation, fuel cell, coal-fired combined cycle, clean coal and motor vehicle emission control technologies will contribute to non-CO2 emissions control and mitigation.JIANG Kejun HU Xiulian 2005Science China(Life Sciences)2005,48,z2:4
16Separation of Indium and Iron from Dilute Sulphate Solutions with a Phosphorous Mixer Extractant显示文摘The phosphorous mixer indoduced could replace D2EHPA as an extractant applied in the extraction of indium. The extraction pfoperties of the phosphorous mixer were studied. The influences of extractant concentration, organic/ aqueous (O/A) phase ratio, equilibrium time, and pH value of the feed solutions on the extraction of indium and separ- ation of indium-iron were investigated experimentally. Under the best operating conditions, more than 98% of indium was extracted through two-stage counter-current extraction. The optimizing condition of indium extraction is determined as follows: O/A = 1: (9-12) in volume ratio; 30% PPD in sulphonated kerosene; pH of the feed, about 0.6; equilibrium time, 3-5 min. 19CoMFA analysis on a set of new noncompetitive GABA_A receptor antagonists:fipronil and related analogs显示文摘Fipronil and related analogs, a set of new noncompetitive GABAA receptor antagonists, were investigated using comparative molecular field analysis (CoMFA) to explore their three-dimensional quantitative structure-activity relationships (3D-QSAR). Considering the structural complexity of molecules of fipronil and related analogs, three different alignments were performed in this paper. CoMFA model for housefly receptor yield the leave-one-out and cross-validated correlation coefficient q2 value of 0.511 and the conventional correlation coefficient r2 value of 0.997. The new compounds with higher activity would be designed from this model. 20The effect of Al3+ coordination structure on the propane dehydrogenation activity of Pt/Ga/Al2O3 catalysts显示文摘The effect of the Al2O3 structure on the performance of Pt/Ga/Al2O3 catalysts is investigated for the direct dehydrogenation of propane. The study unveils that the structure of Al3+determines the bulk structure of catalysts, particularly a high content of coordinatively unsaturated Al3+sites(penta-coordinated Al3+,denoted as Al3+penta) could lead to a remarkably improved dehydrogenation activity of the catalyst. The bulk characterization reveals that the sufficient amount of Al3+pentain Al2O3 benefit the dispersion of Pt and Ga2O3 on the Al2O3 support. At the same time, TPR results reveal that the presence of Pt facilitates the reduction of Ga2O3, likely due to the hydrogen spillover between the well dispersed Pt and Ga2O3,which consequently enhances the synergistic function between Pt and Ga2O3 in the dehydrogenation of propane.
