| 5 | Relationship between brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity and metabolic syndrome components in a Chinese population显示文摘The purpose of this study was to assess the relationship between arterial stiffness,as measured by brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity(baPWV),and the presence of the metabolic syndrome(MS)in a Chinese population.A total of 4,445 subjects were enrolled.The prevalence of MS in our study population was 21.7%,17.2%and 25.6%for the general population,males and females,respectively.With adjustments for age,gender,cigarette smoking,heart rate,total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein(LDL)cholesterol,and the use of anti-hypertensive drug,the stepwise regression analysis showed that baPWV had a significant relationship with components of MS,including systolic blood pressure(P<0.001),diastolic blood pressure(P<0.001),glucose(P<0.001),highdensity lipoprotein(HDL)cholesterol(P=0.04),and triglycerides(P<0.001),but no relationship with waist circumference(P=0.25).With an increase in the number of the MS components,baPWV increased significantly both in women and men.This study indicated that the MS is indeed a risk factor for arterial stiffness.Monitoring of baPWV in patients with MS may help in identifying persons at high risk for cardiovascular disease. | Fang Zhou Haifeng Zhang Wenming Yao Hongbin Mei Dongjie Xu Yanhui Sheng Rong Yang Xiangqing Kong Liansheng Wang Jiangang Zou Zhijian Yang Xinli Li | 2014 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2014,28,4: | 1 |

| 7 | Chromosome-scale genome sequence of Suaeda glauca sheds light on salt stress tolerance in halophytes显示文摘Soil salinity is a growing concern for global crop production and the sustainable development of humanity.Therefore,it is crucial to comprehend salt tolerance mechanisms and identify salt-tolerance genes to enhance crop tolerance to salt stress.Suaeda glauca,a halophyte species well adapted to the seawater environment,possesses a unique ability to absorb and retain high salt concentrations within its cells,particularly in its leaves,suggesting the presence of a distinct mechanism for salt tolerance.In this study,we performed de novo sequencing of the S.glauca genome.The genome has a size of 1.02 Gb(consisting of two sets of haplotypes)and contains 54761 annotated genes,including alleles and repeats.Comparative genomic analysis revealed a strong synteny between the genomes of S.glauca and Beta vulgaris.Of the S.glauca genome,70.56%comprises repeat sequences,with retroelements being the most abundant.Leveraging the allele-aware assembly of the S.glauca genome,we investigated genome-wide allele-specific expression in the analyzed samples.The results indicated that the diversity in promoter sequences might contribute to consistent allele-specific expression.Moreover,a systematic analysis of the ABCE gene families shed light on the formation of S.glauca’s flower morphology,suggesting that dysfunction of A-class genes is responsible for the absence of petals in S.glauca.Gene family expansion analysis demonstrated significant enrichment of Gene Ontology(GO)terms associated with DNA repair,chromosome stability,DNA demethylation,cation binding,and red/far-red light signaling pathways in the co-expanded gene families of S.glauca and S.aralocaspica,in comparison with glycophytic species within the chenopodium family.Time-course transcriptome analysis under salt treatments revealed detailed responses of S.glauca to salt tolerance,and the enrichment of the transition-upregulated genes in the leaves associated with DNA repair and chromosome stability,lipid biosynthetic process,and isoprenoid metabolic process.Additionally,genome-wide analysis of transcription factors indicated a significant expansion of FAR1 gene family.However,further investigation is needed to determine the exact role of the FAR1 gene family in salt tolerance in S.glauca. | Yan Cheng Jin Sun Mengwei Jiang Ziqiang Luo Yu Wang Yanhui Liu Weiming Li Bing Hu Chunxing Dong Kangzhuo Ye Zixian Li Fang Deng Lulu Wang Ling Cao Shijiang Cao Chenglang Pan Ping Zheng Sheng Wang Mohammad Aslam Hong Wang Yuan Qin | 2023 | Horticulture Research2023,10,9: | 0 |

| 9 | Improved diagnosis of thyroid cancer aided with deep learning applied to sonographic text reports:a retrospective,multi-cohort,diagnostic study显示文摘Objective:Large volume radiological text data have been accumulated since the incorporation of electronic health record(EHR)systems in clinical practice.We aimed to determine whether deep natural language processing algorithms could aid radiologists in improving thyroid cancer diagnosis.Methods:Sonographic EHR data were obtained from the EHR database.Pathological reports were used as the gold standard for diagnosing thyroid cancer.We developed thyroid cancer diagnosis based on natural language processing(THCaDxNLP)to interpret unstructured sonographic text reports for thyroid cancer diagnosis.We used the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUROC)as the primary metric to measure the performance of the THCaDxNLP.We compared the performance of thyroid ultrasound radiologists aided with THCaDxNLP vs.those without THCaDxNLP using 5 independent test sets.Results:We obtained a total number of 788,129 sonographic radiological reports.The number of thyroid sonographic data points was 132,277,18,400 of which were thyroid cancer patients.Among the 5 test sets,the numbers of patients per set were 439,186,82,343,and 171.THCaDxNLP achieved high performance in identifying thyroid cancer patients(the AUROC ranged from 0.857–0.932).Thyroid ultrasound radiologists aided with THCaDxNLP achieved significantly higher performances than those without THCaDxNLP in terms of accuracy(93.8%vs.87.2%;one-sided t-test,adjusted P=0.003),precision(92.5%vs.86.0%;P=0.018),and F1 metric(94.2%vs.86.4%;P=0.007).Conclusions:THCaDxNLP achieved a high AUROC for the identification of thyroid cancer,and improved the accuracy,sensitivity,and precision of thyroid ultrasound radiologists.This warrants further investigation of THCaDxNLP in prospective clinical trials. | Qiang Zhang Sheng Zhang Jianxin Li Yi Pan Jing Zhao Yixing Feng Yanhui Zhao Xiaoqing Wang Zhiming Zheng Xiangming Yang Lixia Liu Chunxin Qin Ke Zhao Xiaonan Liu Caixia Li Liuyang Zhang Chunrui Yang Na Zhuo Hong Zhang Jie Liu Jinglei Gao Xiaoling Di Fanbo Meng Wei Ji Meng Yang Xiaojie Xin Xi Wei Rui Jin Lun Zhang Xudong Wang Fengju Song Xiangqian Zheng Ming Gao Kexin Chen Xiangchun Li | 2022 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2022,19,5: | 0 |
| 10 | Changes of the expression of CCNL2 gene during the differentiation of P19 cells to cardiac myocytes显示文摘Objective: To investigate the changes of cyclin L2(CCNL2) gene mRNA and protein during the differentiation of P19 cells to cardiac myocytes, and to explore the relationship between CCNL2 gene and the differentiation of cardiac myocytes. Methods: P19 cells were cultured with 0.9% DMSO for 18 days. Western blots of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) were used to identify cell differentiation. Total RNA was extracted from P19 cells during the process of differentiation at various time points:pre-differentiation(Day 0), and Day 1 to Day 18. The expression levels of CCNL2 gene mRNA and protein were evaluated by RT-PCR and Western blot, respectively. Results: After being induced to differentiate by DMSO for 4 days in suspension, spontaneously and rhythmically beating cells were seen at 8 day, which were cTnI-positive. In P19 cells, both the expression level of CCNL2 gene mRNA and protein were gradually down-regulated. | 11 | Preliminary feasibility and hemodynamic performance of a newlydeveloped self-expanding bioprosthesis and 16-F delivery system in transcatheter aortic valve implantation in sheep显示文摘We sought to evaluate the feasibility and hemodynamic performance of a new self-expanding bioprosthesis and 16-F delivery system in sheep.A 23-mm new self-expanding aortic bioprosthesis was implanted in sheep(n = 10) with a 16-F catheter via the right common carotid artery.Each sheep underwent angiography and coronary angiography before intervention,immediately and 1 h after stent implantation.Electrocardiographic monitoring was carried out during and 2 h after the procedure.Transthoracic echocardiography was employed to detect hemodynamic performance before intervention,immediately and 1 and 2 h after stent implantation.All sheep were euthanized 2 h after successful implantation for macroscopic inspection.In all cases,the new self-expanding aortic bioprosthesis was successfully delivered to the aortic root and released with a 16-F catheter.Successful implantation was achieved in 8 of 10 sheep.Hemodynamic performance and device position of successful implantation were stable 2 h after device deployment.Atrioventricular block was not observed.We conclude that it is feasible to implant the new self-expanding aortic valve with a 16-F delivery system into sheep hearts via the retrograde route. | Jing Cai Yanhui Sheng Shijiang Zhang Wei Sun Rong Yang Liping Miao Xiangqing Kong | 2012 | The Journal of Biomedical Research2012,26,3: | 0 |
